If you love mixed materials and Anthropologie as much as I do, then you’re going to love this Anthropologie hack. Everyone knows that a killer serving tray can be the final touch to that awesome theme party you’re throwing, but sometimes serve-ware can just be so damn expensive! This amazing Marble & Acacia Cutting Board from Anthropologie is no exception. Not only does it get serious trend points for being pineapple shaped (!!!), it also gets extra credit for being the dreamiest mix of materials. But at the $68 price tag? We’re going to have to pass. Luckily for you, with some hardware store finds and materials you probably already have lying around, you can update any old board you have sitting at home.
We’ll show you how to remix our Pineapple Cutting Board Kit to create this modern, faux-stone masterpiece.
Load ‘er up with macarons and cocktails and you’ve got yourself one festive serving tray!

— polyurethane
— black acrylic paint
— masking tape
— paint brush
Get your materials together and let’s get started!
Instructions:
1. Using the masking tape, mask off about half of the pineapple board. Make sure you press down tightly to create a good seal.
2. Spray stone texture paint directly onto the exposed part of the board, making sure to move slowly to get an even coat.
3. Allow the paint to dry completely before handling.
4. Remove the tape.
5. Paint over the seam in the materials with the black paint. Allow the paint to dry completely before handling.
6. Apply a polyurethane finish to the entire board. Allow the finish to dry overnight before using the board.
Note: This board won’t function as a cutting board once you’ve applied the polyurethane. Cutting on it could possibly chip away at the finish and you might ingest it! Use it for serving only.

Spray the stone texture paint evenly across the exposed part of the board. Be sure to go back and forth slowly to ensure you get an even coat. Allow the paint to dry completely, about an hour, before handling.
When the paint dries, remove the tape.
Paint a squiggle with black paint to conceal the break in materials.
Allow the paint to dry completely before handling. This should take about two hours.
To seal everything and make it food-safe, spray a coating of polyurethane over the whole board. Note: This board won’t be a functional cutting board once you’ve applied the polyurethane. Cutting on it could possibly chip away at the finish and you might ingest it! Use it for serving only.
