Do You Dare Drink the New Starbucks Witch’s Brew Frappuccino This Halloween?

We can count on Starbucks for always delivering on its holiday-themed items, including pumpkin spice lattes in the fall, red cups and seasonal tumblers around the holidays, and definitely a wild Frappuccino for Halloween. This year is no exception. Prepare your tastebuds for the new Witch’s Brew Frappuccino.

The beverage’s purple base consists of “toad’s breath,” which Starbucks swears tastes exactly like the swirl orange crème Frappuccino. It’s mixed with green “bat warts,” known as chia seeds by some, topped with whipped cream, and garnished with powdered “lizard scales” (matcha powder).

While generally we’d not expect something concocted by a witch to be appetizing (not to be anti-witch, of course), this Frapp is totally is appealing while still being freaky enough for Halloween. The Witch’s Brew is available for a limited time at Starbucks stores in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and select markets in the Caribbean starting today.

If you need a snack with it, the chain is also releasing a Mummy Cake Pop and a Raccoon Sugar Cookie. Because really, what is Halloween without its fair share of sugar?

After cutting a significant amount of drink and food items from menus earlier this year, Starbucks is discontinuing another fan-favorite bakery item: the Double Chocolate Brownie. Gasp! Say it isn’t so! But alas, it seems to be… so. Chatter among Starbucks employees sadly say that the brownie will leave menus super soon.

Here’s everything we know about the famed Starbucks brownie being discontinued.

they’re discontinuing the brownie 😭😭😭
byu/riffexxx instarbucks

An internal monthly report sent to Starbucks employees at the beginning of April reportedly detailed the brownie’s discontinuation, according to an employee on a Reddit thread: “stores will be getting their last shipments in mid-late April and once those sell out [it's] done,” they said.

Brit + Co reached out to Starbucks for an official comment on the news. Starbucks confirmed that the Double Chocolate Brownie will be removed from the Starbucks menu in the U.S. in May in order to focus on premium offerings rooted in customer trends and preferences.

Starbucks

The news comes amid a slew of changes at Starbucks – the chain is reducing the size of the menu by 30% and revamping the employee dress code (of which many workers are disgruntled about). Starbucks cites a “focus on fewer, more popular items, executed with excellence” for the ongoing changes, which will allow the company to “make way for innovation, help reduce wait times, improve quality and consistency, and align with our core identity as a coffee company.”

Starbucks

Several baristas sounded off with frustration in the Reddit thread that surfaced the brownie’s demise:

“Bruh why the brownie and not the madelines?” one person wrote. “Like I rarely sell a Madeline but we keep selling out of brownies!! Now I have to explain to a LOT of customers that their favorite little treat has been discontinued.”

“Why don’t they get rid of the other things that DON’T sell, like the VB scone or ginger cookie?” another user commented. “We can’t even keep the brownie on the shelf because people love it.”

“Brownies are classic, and this is just bad business,” one more Redditor said.

Starbucks

The Starbucks Double Chocolate Brownie is just one of 6 items on the ‘Treat’ section of their menu, which includes three cake pop flavors and two cookies. The brownie itself is described as “rich” with “generous chunks of semisweet chocolate.” It always makes a great mid-day treat with some strong coffee, so make sure grab it before it's gone if you're a sweet treat fanatic!

Once the Double Chocolate Brownie disappears from Starbucks menus in May, you can luckily still get a similar chocolate fix via the chain's Chocolate Cake Pop or Chocolate Chip Cookie.

Starbucks

Many more Starbucks employees and customers were quite sad to hear about the brownie’s disappearance:

“Noooo :( They keep getting rid of things I love!” one Redditor commented. “RIP the protein boxes, chocolate cookie crumble frappuccino, and now my beloved brownie.”

“But brownies and coffees together are elite? Poorest choice ever,” another user said.

“Not quite what was meant when people said Starbucks needed a smaller menu,” one person declared. “This is so dumb.”

Starbucks fans, the Starbucks summer menu for 2025 is coming way sooner than you think! Launching next month, the coffee chain gave us a cheeky lil’ sneak peek at their next seasonal lineup, and it looks stacked.

Scroll on to see everything coming to the Starbucks summer menu in May!

Meet The Starbucks Summer Menu For 2025!

Starbucks

Here's the full lineup for this year's Starbucks summer menu:

  • NEW! Iced Horchata Oatmilk Shaken Espresso
  • Summer-Berry Refreshers (Summer-Berry Lemonade Refresher and Summer Skies Drink to return)
  • NEW! Strawberries & Cream Cake Pop
Below, we dive into each item so you can know what to expect once these menu items drop in May! We don't have an official launch date yet, but will keep you updated here the moment we know more details.

Starbucks

NEW! Iced Horchata Oatmilk Shaken Espresso

Yummm. Inspired by horchata, we anticipate this new shaken espresso flavor from Starbucks to have notes of cinnamon and coconut, both of which pair really well for a light and refreshing sip – much needed in the summer! Per some Starbucks employees on Reddit, it looks like it'll be crafted using an all-new horchata syrup, too. 👀

Starbucks

Summer-Berry Refreshers

That's right: Starbucks' boba drinks are officially coming back! Launching next month, the chain's blue-tinted Summer-Berry Refreshers come with a serving of raspberry-flavored popping boba to elicit summertime fun. The boba pearls were very divisive among baristas and customers when they hit menus in 2024.

Last year, this lineup of Refreshers came in three variations: the Summer-Berry Refresher, the Summer-Berry Lemonade Refresher, and the Summer Skies Drink (mixed with coconut milk). The last two will definitely be returning to the summer menu for 2025! After a taste test from last year's launch, the Summer Skies ended up being our favorite.

Starbucks

NEW! Strawberries & Cream Cake Pop

Lastly, Starbucks is introducing a brand-new cake pop flavor for summertime: Strawberries & Cream! Some Starbucks employees on Reddit noted that it'll include a strawberry cake base with buttercream, which sounds so yummy. This new bite will join the existing cake pop trio of Birthday Cake (pictured above), Chocolate, and Cookies & Cream.

The cosmos is definitely serving up some intense energy this week. But instead of getting swept up in the global whirlwind, we're turning the spotlight inward with your weekly horoscope. Neptune's big move into Aries is all about finding your voice and using it. But as a heads-up, some planetary drama might stir up some power struggles in your personal life. But don't let that dim your shine, because Saturn and Neptune are about to team up to help you actually build the life you've been daydreaming about. Ready to harness this transformative energy? Let's go! Here's your weekly horoscope for April 20-27, 2025.

Nataliya Vaitkevich

Of the many astrological possibilities this week, I’ll focus on preparing us for personal development, as I usually do. However, this in no way negates or minimizes the potential for the collective to reflect the planetary transits in more unpleasant ways, as there is real potential for continued disruption on a global scale. You don’t need an astrologer to tell you about the proliferation of disinformation and downright lies plaguing all of us around the world. It’s tempting to get lost in the fog as reality grows harsher.

Neptune is just beginning its passage into Aries, yet it still hovers around the final degrees of Pisces. These next few months will be unstable, unclear, and uncertain. However, let’s not forget that Aries is the warrior. It is important for us all to use our voices—to stand up for those who are marginalized and powerless, to speak out to protect the Earth, and to advocate for ourselves as we evolve into more authentic versions of who we are. We are on the brink of a new era for civilization, and the planetary movements in our solar system reveal the opportunities ahead.

Mikael Blomkvist

On a global level, we will endure the final gasps of an antiquated way of operating. On a personal level, we’ll be faced with decisions to grow, progress, and become part of a greater collective. Let us all be a force for good and act in ways that support both ourselves and our communities.

Mars, the planet of action, rules Aries. It is the energy of spring and the personification of courage and passion. Personally, we can use this energy to take initiative, give momentum to our passions, and courageously change what no longer serves us. This week, Mars is opposite Pluto—the planet of transformation, power, and life-and-death cycles. Mars also squares the Sun. This can manifest as temper tantrums, a strong will to succeed at all costs, and a desire to control others. On the collective level, be aware of abuse of power, domineering behavior, and the potential for conflicts to escalate and spiral out of control.

Elina Sazonova

Saturn, the planet of responsibility and structure, is moving closer to Neptune, the planet of dreams. They will continue this dance well into the summer. As these transpersonal planets move into Aries and blend their energies, we can use this time to manifest our dreams. It will require discipline, dedication, hard work, and determination. This energy can be applied across many areas of life. If you have a project in mind, use this time to create a plan of action. If you want to start a new habit or break an old one, this is an ideal moment to initiate change. Tap into the support available for discipline and routine—especially if you don’t usually consider yourself a disciplined person. It will be easier to establish and sustain new efforts during this time.
