Is Draper James the New Preserve? Reese Witherspoon’s Lifestyle Site Is Live

Unless you’ve been living under a rock since seeing Pleasantville and Cruel Intentions in the theater, you know that Reese Witherspoon is a southern gal. The New Orleans-born + Nashville-raised star gave us more of a sugar high than you get from sweet tea when she announced her ode to the south lifestyle site Draper James earlier this year. After teasing us over the past couple months about what was to come through some tap-worthy Instagram reveals for the launch, the site has finally gone live. Part shopping, part good ole southern appreciation, the site is one of the most interesting projects Reese has served up since the bend + snap circa 2001.

Draper James is all about the grace and charm Reese was raised with growing up in the south. It is a mix of commerce — featuring everything from home decor items, gifting options and stationery + paper to accessories like handbags + wallets, jewelry and clothing produced by the company and smaller southern-based makers — and straight-up lifestyle content with a down-home twist.

The site is not just a place to buy pretty things, but was created with the hopes of introducing the masses to the talented and diverse people of the south. While a first click through the site is mostly just glimpses of Reese, the homepage and individual site sections are all serving up some very serious southern hospitality. Editorially, Reese has shared tips on throwing the perfect luncheon, documented a NOLA trip (food recommendations + all!), given us answers to the “Draper James Seven” — a soon-to-be regular questionnaire providing insight into southern style makers — and even posted shareable southern girl quotes. Ms. Witherspoon isn’t playing around, y’all.

After going down the rabbit hole that is Reese’s blogging, the next natural step is to hit up the shopping. Prepsters, you’re in luck. With pearls galore and monogrammed errything, Draper James just might be coming for Lilly Pulitzer and we’re not mad about it. Here are a couple shoppable picks you just might tip your Derby hat to:

1. Brunch Essentials: Picking up red Solo cups and paper napkins are fine for an average Friday night party, but when it comes to Sunday brunch you should bring out the impressive tabletop pieces, like these southern sayings cocktail napkins ($85, set of four) or the customizable mint julep cup ($100).

2. Floral + Quotable Tops: Perfect for summer, the garland tank ($150) will be turning heads whether you’re at the polo lounge or running to the grocery store while the graphic tee ($58) will totally be popping up on every sorority girl’s Instagram feed come fall rush week.

3. Totes Adorable: For obvious reasons (it’s totes adorable) it’s time to give up plastic for good in exchange for this phrase-accented bag ($155). Then, before heading out to dinner or a gala, throw that crossbody floral bag ($250) over your shoulder for head turns all night long.

4. Brunch-Ready Attire: Whether you’re headed to the races, the shore or a wedding during the summer months, either of these — the circle dress ($285) or the lace skirt ($225) — (and Draper James’ entire clothing collection, TBH) make for the perfect pre-Labor Day everyday attire.

5. Accessories for Any Occasion: You can still be subtle and cute in your style even with big accessories. Try either the gold riding belt ($100) or the sunhat ($140) to complete any luncheon look no matter the day of the week or season of the year.

What will you be buying from Reese’s Draper James? Let us know in the comments.

Let's be honest...I'll watch just about anything Reese Witherspoon or Will Ferrell are in, but I'm especially ready for You're Cordially Invited! While I was already hooked on this dynamic duo just based on the two of them alone, the trailer just dropped — and it did NOT disappoint. From wrestling alligators to wearing big, fuzzy zebra costumes, there's a lot of really funny stuff to unpack with this upcoming movie. Let's get into it!

Check out the You're Cordially Invited trailer here!

www.youtube.com

- YouTube

Okay, let's address the elephant — or two-time Superbowl-winning quarter back — in the room first. Hello, Peyton Manning! I swear, this man is everywhere right now, and I'm so here for it! I'd be lying if I said I didn't laugh at his "Paintin' Manning" commercials lately.

Anyway, back to the plot at-hand! When Reese Witherspoon's sister and Will Ferrell's daughter get engaged, the both manage to book the weddings for the same day (June 1)...and at the same venue! Classic conundrum! Instead of rescheduling, the two groups are forced to work it out between the two of them, and things get a little hairy.

Throughout the hilarity — and chaos — that ensues, we see a lot of good stuff. This includes (but is not limited to):

  • Will Ferrell doing his daughter's hair in giant rollers
  • The two wedding parties battling over the sunset ceremony
  • A giant, fluffy zebra knocking a cake over during a conga line
  • Male strippers that are totally giving Magic Mike vibes
  • Will Ferrell wrestling an alligator?!

Needless to say, there's a LOT going on in this movie. If I'm already laughing that much at the trailer, I just know this is gonna good!

I'll follow Reese Witherspoon just about anywhere.Legally Blonde, Love in Fairhope, and Where the Crawdads Sing are just a few of her projects that leave me feeling totally empowered and overjoyed when I watch them. Hello Sunshine has plenty of exciting stories on the horizon, and thanks to our AMC queen Nicole Kidman, we now know that includes Big Little Lies season 3. We're ready to head back to Monterey, and we're not the only ones.

Turns out, Nicole Kidman put out feelers for Big Little Lies season 3 after watching the series with her daughter Sunday. “She was like, ‘No. There’s no more discussion. The third series has to happen…I’m sick of the talk. Sick of circling it. Just get it done,’” Nicole toldVogue Australia. “You need a teenager to go, ‘Enough. Just do it.’”

Keep reading for everything we know about Big Little Lies season 3, and everything our Monterey Five have said about it.

When is Big Little Lies season 3 coming out?

HBO

Big Little Lies Season 3 Release Date

We don't have any official news about a release date, and since season 1 and season 2 released at different points of the year, it's a bit harder to pinpoint when a new season could hit our screens. Shailene Woodley, however, did just confirm that "it's happening."

"I ran into Nicole Kidman a few months ago and I was like, 'So, what's the...' And she's like, 'It's happening,'" she told Jimmy Fallon. "I was like, 'It is? It's happening?' She's like, 'Yeah.' I was like, 'But when? How? When? Why? How?' I think it's a lot of people with a lot of schedules. And our beautiful director from season 1 [Jean-Marc Vallée] passed away, and that was really hard for everyone. So I think the whole experience has been a little bit one of trying to find all the right pieces to come together."

The Fault in Our Stars actress told Brit + Co that she's hoping to hear news sooner rather than later! "I hear the same rumors and gossip that you hear," she says. "I hope it's true. It'd be very fun."

Hilary Bronwyn Gayle/HBO

Nicole Kidman also told Elle there IS a timeline for Big Little Lies season 3. “I think when you’re all scattered and never sort of cross paths, it’s very, very different," she says. "But when you’re all still very intertwined, that’s what makes it doable, because there’s a willingness and you want to spend time together."

In June 2024, Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon revealed to Vanity Fair that (in addition to why Reese won't call Laura Dern by her first name), season 3 is coming soon! After Nicole's comments about season 3 being in the works, the cast started getting calls about it.

“I’ve got Laura [Dern] calling me and Zoë [Kravitz] and Shailene," Reese says. "They’re all like, ‘Nic said that we’re making Big Little Lies season three?'”

“But we are now!" Nicole says. "We’re moving fast and furious, and Liane [Moriarty] is delivering the book. Yeah, and we’re in good shape.”

Who's in the Big Little Lies cast?

Jennifer Clasen/HBO

Big Little Lies Season 3 Cast

The Big Little Lies cast is almost too good to be true. In addition to Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Zoë Kravitz, Laura Dern, and Shailene Woodley, the show has starred Kathryn Newton, Meryl Streep, Alexander Skarsgård, and Adam Scott.

Shailene revealed just how close she's gotten with her costars, telling Bustle there's "zero animosity between Laura and I."

"There't not even a hint of that, like, behind-the-veil, female curiosity, rage, jealousy, all the stuff that can happen between women, we have none of that," she says. "And so it was just a fun little boogie we got to jump into and explore all of those different colors together."

What is Big Little Lies season 3 about?

HBO

Big Little Lies Season 3 Plot

Shailene Woodley told Bazaar how excited she is to explore the show's characters that are a little more grown up now. "I think what excites me about the possibility of a third season, more than what I could think of with Jane, is the fact that these children [on the show] are not children anymore. They’re teenagers now!" she says. "Their voices have dropped, they all have their teenage situation happening, and the angst is kicking in, and that, to me, is what is exciting about the possibility of a third season. What does life look like for those people who are not children anymore?"

Will there be a season 3 of Big Little Lies?

HBO

It looks like yes, there will be a Big Little Lies season 3! During the CME Group Tour Championship, Nicole Kidman talked about her involvement in the series.

"I loved Big Little Lies," she said during a Q&A (shared in an Instagram story by Deux Moi). "It sort of came along at a time in my life when I had my children and I was thinking I was going to retire. And then this situation came along, where Reese Witherspoon and I were able to produce that show and create that show. And then all of you watched it and made it a massive success...And we will be bringing you a third one, just FYI."

Laura Dern is also ready to do do Big Little Lies season 3! "Well, let's just say we're best friends in art and in life," Laura tells TODAY. "And there would be nothing more fun for all of us. You know, we would have the time of our lives."

What happened at the end of Big Little Lies season 2?

Hilary Bronwyn Gayle/HBO

To put it simply, Big Little Lies season 2 ended in pure chaos. Each of the Monterey Five have their own singular victories — Bonnie lets go of her husband and makes peace with her mother, Celeste gets full custody of her kids, and Madeline renews her vows to Ed — before they walk into the police station together. We're guessing it's so Bonnie can confess to her role in Perry's death, but it looks like we'll have to wait for season 3 to find out. One surprising detail about the end of season 2, however, is what didn't happen.

"There was someone that was supposed to die," Zoë Kravitz revealed to Vanity Fair in 2020. "It wasn’t me, but I don’t know what I’m allowed to say, so I don’t know. But someone did die. But I think the way we ended the season was obviously really intriguing, but also everyone got to come together and I think that felt important to everybody." Because that death didn't happen, it would only make sense for it to have gotten pushed to season 3...right?

How many seasons of Big Little Lies are there?

HBO

So far there are two seasons of Big Little Lies, both of which you can watch on Max now. If you go ahead and press play, that means you'll have enough time to rewatch every episode before Big Little Lies season 3 drops. Trust me — you'll want to ;).

What town is Big Little Lies in?

HBO

Big Little Lies takes place in Monterey, California. Unlike some other series that have to shoot off location, Big Little Lies actually does film in Monterey so all of the scenes and settings are authentic!

What is the message of Big Little Lies?

HBO

Like so many of Reese Witherspoon and Hello Sunshine's projects, Big Little Lies explores a number of important and relevant issues families deal with in the real world: domestic violence, blended and single parent homes, and how far you're willing to go to protect the people you love.

Is there a spin off of Big Little Lies?

Vince Valitutti/Hulu

Hulu's Nine Perfect Strangers (which is based on the book of the same name by Liane Moriarty, who also wrote Big Little Lies!) serves as a Big Little Lies reunion of sorts — the show stars Nicole Kidman as actress and executive producer, along with Big Little Lies' producers Bruna Papandrea and David E. Kelley.

Questions About Your Daily Routine

Please don't throw eggs at us! We know you don't want to feel governed by a schedule like you're in grade school, but there are benefits to having something to guide you daily. According to Northwestern Medicine, you can "reduce stress" and even "get better rest" by having a routine.

If you've been promising yourself to improve in these areas, here are 5 questions to ask yourself:

  • How many of hours of sleep do I typically get per night?
  • What distractions can I eliminate before bed so I'm not groggy in the morning? (i.e., no more binge watching my favorite TV shows or scrolling mindlessly on TikTok)?
  • Do I have a morning routine or do I rush through taking a shower, brushing my teeth, and eating breakfast?
  • How do I usually feel when I get to work?
  • Am I okay with setting a reminder for myself to take a break during the work day so I can stretch my legs, eat lunch, or go for a quick walk?

Questions About Your Self-Care

Making time for your self-care is a part of your daily routine, but we want to dig deeper by sharing questions that'll help you reflect on how you treat yourself.

  • How do I want to feel about myself in 2025?
  • Did I have moments I looked in the mirror and didn't like the way my skin or body looked this year?
  • Have I been prioritizing my mental health?
  • Did I make space for exercising (i.e. walking, yoga, running, etc.)?
  • Did I create healthy boundaries with family, friends, or someone I'm dating?

Questions About Your Career

We almost said, "Here comes the fun part," but that would be unfair for people who consider other areas of their lives more important to chasing a career. If you are focused on pursuing something you're passionate about or simply want to earn a new promotion, here's what you can ask yourself:

  • What are my biggest career accomplishments this year?
  • What skills do I need to sharpen that align with the position I want?
  • How do I respond to constructive criticism?
  • What is my usual response to change or tight deadlines?
  • Do I ask for help when I don't understand a project or concept?

Brit + Co

Questions About Your Home

Your home is anywhere that you live even if you're renting or living with your parents for the time being.

  • How did the energy in my home feel?
  • Did I do anything to make it feel like me?
  • How can I create a relaxing environment in my room that promotes rest and relaxation?
  • Do I want to have a certain aesthetic for my living room, office, etc.?
  • What does having a clean and organized home mean to me?

Questions About Your Relationships

Have you been making excuses for toxic friends or ignoring red flags? If it's okay, we're going to sit by you and gently suggest it's time for a change. The kind of life you want to live can't be weighed down by old habits of yours or some of the people you've been spending time with, especially if you've been feeling uncomfortable.

  • What kind of friendships do I want to have in 2025?
  • Do I have a reliable support system?
  • What did I love about my romantic relationship this year?
  • Are there certain conversations I need to have with family members, friends, or my partner that I've been avoiding?
  • Do I need to change the way I show up in my platonic or romantic relationships?

The '90s were a great time, according to millennials. It was a time of rollerblading, listening to cassette players, playing Super Mario Bros. on Nintendos, having birthday parties at Chuck E. Cheese, and more. Besides this and other pop culture moments that went viral before social media existed, the '90s gave us classic stores we used to frequent as kids.

Despite meeting their demise as the Y2K age took over, we'll never forget the fun memories (and maximalist vibes) these stores gave us!

Take a walk down memory lane by revisiting our favorite '90s stores that will take you back in time (and make you feel old):

Getty Images

1. Party City

Our hearts are hurting because we don't understand why one of the most popular decor stores is closing. The brand was apparently facing "financial challenges," according to it's CEO Barry Litwin (via CNN). There were other issues behind the scenes, but everything trickled down to money, or a lack thereof.

It's so shocking because some of us just picked up a few holiday items from Party City this month! It was one of the stores that seemed to have everything we needed before Amazon became the mega wholesaler that it is today.

I guess this means we should've cherished Party City a little more because it's officially gone.

Getty Images

2. Blockbuster

Long before streaming platforms like Netflix and Peacock existed, people used to spend Friday nights looking at rows of VHS movies to rent. If you were lucky, your parents would stop by Blockbuster before picking up pizza for dinner. It was the ultimate '90s treat…until it wasn’t.

When we want to remember what it felt like visiting Blockbuster, we fast forward to that one scene in I Am Legend where Dr. Robert Neville is going to 'rent' movies. It's a little cringe now that we think about it, but it's the closet memory we have of spending at least 30 minutes picking out the VHS or DVD to watch.

Getty Images

3. Circuit City

Raise your hand if you remember getting your first CD player or computer from Circuit City. The name alone conjures fun memories of running up and down the aisles pretending we could afford all the fun electronics. We watched desktop computers slowly morph into laptops, which seemed like an exciting time. Also, some of us watched our parents lament the cost of the required Texas Instrument calculators we needed for math class.

Although Circuit City isn't around like it used to be, we'll never forget watching the world change through its eyes.

Getty Images

4. Virgin Music Store

If you wanted to be a part of the cool crowd, you visited the Virgin music store. We aptly remember the neon sign and memorable displays that beckoned to us. Although we could find some of the same CDs at Circuit City, the store’s design didn’t feel stuffy.

Getty Images

5. Radio Shack

This one’s personal because we stood in lines with our parents when they bought their first cell phones and DVD players. Also, one of our parents may or may not have purchased a very coveted Bratz convertible that played music from Radio Shack.

Even though it wasn’t the biggest store, it gave us a taste of what the future had for us. Little did we know we’d lose this sweet store though.

6. Border's

As much as we love recommending books from Amazon and local bookshops, we miss when Border’s was around. There’s not much to say about this store besides how grown-up we felt when our parents would let us spend time there while they shopped at their favorite stores in the mall.

Getty Images

7. KB Toys

Aside from Toys ‘R’ Us, we also remember when K.B. Toys was popular. Not unlike today, there wasn’t such a thing as having too many toy stores. Sometimes we found things at K.B.s that felt like a treat. The cluttered aisles probably annoyed our parents, but we were always happy when we were allowed to pick something out.

Getty Images

8. Wet Seal

Yes, Wet Seal made the list of stores we loved in the '90s. Unlike Goody’s, it was specifically geared towards pre-teens and teens who wanted to wear the latest fashions. It was one of the the places to discover your style at the time even if it meant leaving piles of clothes for weary store associates to put back (sorry!)

Though we miss it, we hope no one tries to revive it because we’re sure we’d see a few outdated fashion trends.

9. Esprit

This was another store that screamed 'All American Teen Store.' Unlike Wet Seal, the store's layout and clothing were a little more 'sophisticated.' It spoke to teens who are now adults with a sleeker preppy style. It sounds like a reach, but it's not if you think about it. This store could give you logomania, tenniscore, or something that resembled the outfits from Saved By the Bell at the same time.

10. Goody's

Were you really a '90s kid if your mom didn’t drag you to Goody’s? Shockingly enough, we hardly ever complained because it felt like a huge store we could play in. Plus, it had clothes for everyone.

And if there were a sale during BTS season? You could always count on our moms to leave the store with stuffed shopping bags.

Which '90s stores do you wish were still open? Let us know on Facebook!
