10 Comfy Ballet Flats To Take From Summer And Step Into Fall

fall ballet flats

Soon enough it will be that time of year where you can't wear your summer wardrobe because it's too "summery," and you can't wear your fall wardrobe because it's not cold enough yet. It's that looming period between late August and September that's always the hardest for dressing. Plus, I detox my wardrobe so often that I feel like I have nothing left to wear towards the end of a season!

But one item carries me through the whole year when it comes to dressing for any season: the classic ballet flat. Coming out of summer when all I wore were sandals, it's definitely hard to go straight to boots for the fall and winter. So I always bring out my ballet flats to kickstart me into the fall season when it's too early to go full-fledged "pumpkin-spice-latte-scarves-and-boots" mode! Here's some of my favorite, comfy ballet flats — with a fun twist to them too!

Nordstrom

Sam Edelman Ari Ballet Flat

The metallic, silver shoe trend is not going anywhere this fall! To me, this has always been a very "fall" trend, so I was surprised when it blew up during summertime. That's perfect for us, because it will transition perfectly into your fall wardrobe! What's even crazier is that it's on sale for only $50! Run to grab this one immediately!

J.Crew

J.Crew Mesh Flats

I am obsessed with J.Crew for mid-season dressing, because I feel like they do a good job of styling for trends without them being too seasonal. Their pieces are a more classic, all-around approach which is really refreshing to see. So this pair of mesh flats is a great example of this, because it showcases the mesh flat in a timeless way that could be worn all-year round! Love this pair, and will definitely be purchasing them, myself!

Nordstrom

Sarto Tracy Slingback

Chunky flats are another statement item that aren't going anywhere! This trend will carry until the fall, for sure! I love the cut of these; they're kind of a slingback style! These flats will look so good styled with a mini skirt and chunky sweater this fall!

Nordstrom

Jeffrey Campbell Mesh Flat

I am loving the mesh flats, and I think they're the quintessential summer/fall shoe! It has the "naked shoe" aspect of summer, but is still perfectly covered for early fall. I couldn't think of a more perfect shoe for transitional dressing. Plus, this red color is such a good combination of both of the seasons! Grab these cute flats for only $57 on sale!

Sezane

Sezane Anya Flats

I love Sezane for their seasonal style, and think that their shoes, especially, are so versatile no matter what time of year it is! These flats will be your go-to all year round. You can pair them with a mini dress in the summer or with a long dress and coat for the fall! The options are really endless.

Rothy's

Rothy's Ballet Flat

Not only are these flats super stylish, but they're also crazy comfortable as well! Rothy's is known for being the one shoe you can wear for miles walking around in, and not feel a thing! These comfy shoes will be the easiest thrown-on shoe for this summer into fall season!

Nordstrom

Vince Cameo Vinley

Ummm, Bottega, who? These Bottega Veneta lookalikes are one of my favorites I've seen lately, in terms of funky flats! They're made of a woven, leather fabric that I'm obsessed with, because they will look good with so many different outfit options! I picture these being styled with an adorable mini collared-dress and a black top-handle bag! Très chic!

Nordstrom

Steve Madden Graya Flat

Chunky flats are going to be the biggest shoe trend this fall — I'm calling it now, folks! This style of shoe is by no means new, but I predict that it will definitely take off this summer-to-fall season! I love these styled with a simple, straight-leg jean, and white button down for a grunge-y, yet french-inspired look!

Nordstrom

Jeffrey Campbell Arabesque Flat

Did Chanel call? I think they're missing their shoes! These cap-toe flats are my favorite pair of shoes to wear no matter the season! Anytime I'm in a pinch and don't know what to wear, I throw on a dress and these cute flats, et voila! A super chic outfit that will look good in any time of year.

J.Crew

J.Crew Zoe Cap Toe Shoe

I had to throw in another cap toe option, because this J.Crew pair is perfect for the fall and winter. I love the coloring of these, because it goes with a colder-weather color palette. Navy always is a popular color for the winter, and I predict it will be just as popular this fall!

After almost 17 years of marriage, Jessica Alba just officially split from her husband, Cash Warren. TMZ reported that the actress and film producer have been separated for a while now, and this article seems to make everything even more official. Here's everything we know so far about the breakup — including how long it seems like the pair's actually been split up.

Here's everything we know about Jessica Alba's split from husband, Cash Warren.

On January 8, 2025, sources spilled to TMZ about Jessica Alba and Cash Warren's separation. The sources shared that the couple is allegedly "moving forward" with a divorce, so unfortunately it doesn't seem like this split is a short-term solution.

TMZreported that both Jessica and have gone in public without wedding rings recently — Jessica as recent as the Golden Globes afterparties on January 5, 2025. Apparently, one of the last times the two were spotted publicly was back in November 2024. Outside of that, the couple celebrated their son's birthday at Universal Studios together in January, but it's unclear how official the separation was at that point.

According to PEOPLE, Jessica and Cash got engaged in 2007, after meeting on the set of Fantastic Four back in 2004. They got married and stayed together for 16 years, welcoming three children to their family: Honor (16), Haven (13), and Hayes (7).

Back in 2021, Alba told PEOPLE that they tend to "over-communicate" in order to best support each other and their different needs. She said that they don't have a "secret" to making it work — they "just need to check in with each other."

Whatever happens next, we hope that Jessica, Cash, and their kids are able to find peace and happiness throughout this major transition.

Enough chatter about what's outdated or overrated! We could hyper-focus on this all day long, but we'd rather talk about which fashion trendsshould be in your closet in 2025. With the help of Stitch Fix's stylist Jessica Sockel and Amy Ekren, stylist as well as owner of Inherit Clothing, we've got an inside look at the easiest styles you can make work with what you already own.

P.S. Some of these trends are making a comeback from last year!

7 fashion trends you definitely need — and are easy to style — this year!

Anthropologie

1. The Bridgerton Effect

Are you sick of hearing about Bridgerton? We're not and it seems like others want to take a page from the franchise's style book. Jessica Sockel says, "The show’s romantic, whimsical aesthetic appeared to inspire our clients [Stitch Fix] with requests for “coquette” styles up 100% compared to last year."

Meshki

2. Timeless, Structured Dresses

Fashion trends are always fun when they feel timeless and Amy Ekren predicts we'll continue seeing styles that mirror this. "Clean lines and simple shapes will be popular, but with interesting details like pleats, asymmetry, or unique necklines. No one wants to feel like they’re trying too hard, and structured pieces make a statement without being loud," she says.

Abercrombie & Fitch

3. Neutrals and Soft Earth Tones

Somehow our mothers were right — neutrals are beautiful (and easy) to style. With trends like mocha mousse taking center stage in the fashion and home decor industries, Ekren says we'll be seeing it all year because "neutrals make it easier to build a wardrobe that feels cohesive instead of trendy."

She also draws attention to shades like "warm, muted tones like oat, clay, and soft olive" that "will take over in 2025." Why? It's simple: she feels "they’re easy to style, feel sophisticated, and work for every season."

Try this style: Abercrombie & Fitch Ribbed Collared Cardigan

MANGO

4. Practical Layers

Lean in close. You're ready to stop feeling swallowed by your coats aren't you? Ekren says, "People are moving away from oversized puffers and leaning into more tailored outerwear. Cropped wool coats, quilted jackets, and fitted trenches will be everywhere. There will be more functional style."

Try this style: MANGO Double-Breasted Cotton Trench Coat

Gigi Pip

5. Western-Inspired

Did you think the cowgirl era was over? It's clearly not because shows like Yellowstone are making us want to tap into our inner 'yeehaw' this year with a slight upgrade to traditional silhouettes. Sockel says, "Western charm will continue to be popular in 2025 and evolve to incorporate a refined edge. Denim-on-denim, barn jackets and barrel-leg jeans (which have already surged 2,925% in client searches compared to last year) will become wardrobe staples."

And if you thought "suede and fringe" were long buried in time, Sockel says "requests have also increased by 25% since last year" which is "cementing this trend's staying power" in Stitch Fix's eyes. It's to the point where she's seeing "82% of stylists" agreeing that "cowboy boots and feminine dresses will be a client favorite." We guess it's time to break out our cowboy hats!

GAP

6. 'Skinny' Silhouettes

We know — who decided to bring back the 'skinny' trend? We're just as shocked as you are, but Sockel's seeing an increased interested in it. "Rumor has it skinny jeans are staging a comeback. While wide-leg jeans remain the most requested silhouette, 2025 is set to spotlight elevated night-out looks featuring bold prints and unexpected shapes—a vibe Stitch Fix is calling the "Corner Booth" trend."

Her suggestion? "Picture faux leather skinny jeans paired with a cut-out top and animal print booties, which saw a 400% spike in client searches between June and September 2024."

Try this style: GAP High Rise True Skinny Jeans

Old Navy

7. Minimalism

Overall? Ekren says, "Less is definitely more next year, but not in a boring way. I see minimalist style leaning toward higher-quality fabrics and well-placed accents, like subtle embroidery or textured fabrics."

You can still have fun with this trend even though it's not full of statement pieces. Ekren believes "simple doesn't have to mean plain" and we couldn't agree more!

The 2000s was a golden age for all kinds of fantasy movies. Think the Narnia trilogy, Harry Potter, and of course, Pirates of the Caribbean. Not only did it have me dreaming of a tropical vacation but who didn't fall in love with Orlando Bloom as Will Turner? The first film was so successful it led to a whole series (and a redesign of the Disney World ride that inspired it), not to mention the fact Johnny Depp's Jack Sparrow has been cemented in pop culture history forever!

Here's the official Brit + Co ranking of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, from best to worst.

1. 'Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl'

Walt Disney Studios

Yeah, the first film totally takes the cake as the best Pirates of the Caribbean movie. It has a super solid script, and introduces us to characters who feel three-dimensional, engaging, and memorable. Jack Sparrow and Will Turner search for Captain Barbossa, who's taken Jack's ship (alongside his past crew, who are now undead) and kidnapped Elizabeth Swann, Will's love.

2. 'Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End'

Walt Disney Studios

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End is such an emotional experience that I have to put it at number 2. It's the perfect conclusion to the original trilogy, and follows Will, Elizabeth, and Barbossa as they set off to find Jack. It's got everything: romance, adventure, humor. And Elizabeth becoming Pirate King? 2007 me was shook.

3. 'Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest'

Peter Mountain/Disney

The third spot on this list just has to go to the second installment of the OG trilogy. In this Pirates of the Caribbean movie, our favorite pirates are all hunting for the heart of Davy Jones: Jack hopes to avoid becoming Davy's slave, while Will wants to free his father. It's fun and opens with a crazy scene as Will and Elizabeth's wedding is interrupted by Lord Beckett arresting them.

4. 'Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales'

Walt Disney Studios

The latest installment of the Pirates franchise (which was released in 2017) comes in at four. As Jack searches for Poseidon's Trident to defeat Captain Salazar, Will's son Henry teams up with astronomer Carina Smyth to help defeat the dangerous enemy. I love how this film brings Will and Elizabeth back (even if it's only for a bit), and I think the whole story is the perfect treat for fans of the series.

5. 'Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides'

Walt Disney Studios

In the fourth Pirates of the Caribbean movie, Jack and Barbossa are looking for the fountain of youth, only to learn they're up against Blackbeard and his daughter. Unfortunately, Will and Elizabeth are nowhere to be found, which means this movie just doesn't have the same magic as the originals (even though Sam Claflin has my heart).
