Where to Vacation Like a Fashion Girl This Winter

Gray days and early sunsets can bring on a serious case of cabin fever. When the travel bug strikes and faraway places call, there’s no better resource to turn to for inspo than Instagram. Here’s where seven stylish influencers, models, and bloggers are jetting off to this season.

Dubai, United Arab Emirates

When the frost is just too much to bear, make like @EmmaRoseOfficial and hightail it to the One&Only Royal Mirage in Dubai. This city is electric, with a bustling nightlife and skyscraper buildings (and 40th-floor bars like 40 Kong) built for the ‘gram. Not to mention miles of malls unlike anything you’ve ever seen that feature everything from fashion exclusives to an indoor ski slope. As for where to spend long afternoons with your squad, Nikki Beach Dubai keeps the beats and the #roséallday flowing, meaning you’re bound to pick up the best shopping recs from the locals — and the glamour girls who frequent here.

Denver, Colorado

If you prefer a cozy getaway that’s equal parts active and urban, Denver is a no-brainer. There are winter concerts at Red Rocks Park & Amphitheatre, endless adventures by day, and après ski options by night. The killer dining scene (must-visit contenders include Death & Co Denver, Hearth & Dram, and Narrative) along with plenty of boutique hotels fit for an influencer like @Sarah_Najafi equal a stylish weekend away. The Ramble and The Jacquard are especially popular with the trendy set, and there’s always Hotel Teatro for libations next to a roaring fire. Just be sure to pack some bold outerwear for this snowy getaway.

Cartagena, Colombia

Cartagena is always a good idea thanks to its trademark heat (AKA the ideal place to escape the cold) and culinary-focused culture that oozes charm. But did you know that the shopping is unbeatable? Just ask influencer @SmileLopez. For a tropical retreat outside the walled city, check into Conrad Cartagena, which features posh rooms and their #chillvibesonly beach club Karibana, or be sure to hit Oh La La, a healthy fusion gem in hipster hood Getsemaní. Pop by Alquímico for craft cocktails and Interno — a restaurant in a women’s prison that will blow your mind with its backstory and cuisine.

MIAMI, Florida

Ended up in Miami 🌴🌺🥥

A post shared by Birgitta Líf Björnsdóttir (@birgittalif) on

Making your way to Miami come December is smart, especially when it’s thriving with Art Basel, epic people watching, and major #outfitgoals. Channel @BirgittaLíf and blend in amongst the leafy decor at the The Miami Beach Edition, peruse the installations at the Faena Festival, stock up on swimwear at Nic Del Mar, then get your nosh on at Matador Room (for next-level avocado pizza) or Kyu (for wood-fired Asian bites in the trendy Wynwood Design District).

London, England

There’s nothing like spending the holiday season in London, especially when you can book a room at the ever-festive 11 Cadogan Gardens to snap a pic like @YoVentura in this magical mirrored jewel box. While in town, be sure to dress to the nines for a quintessentially British afternoon tea; make a res at Sketch, Mayfair’s It-restaurant that’s awash in shades of millennial pink; and swing by Claridge‘s Christmas Tree designed by the one and only Diane von Furstenberg.

Napa Valley, California

Cuteness overload is easily accessible at the North Block Hotel, in the heart of Napa. Influencer and star of E!’s LadyGang@JacVanek was spotted there recently (wearing some very covetable blue trousers, we might add). Also worthy of your time are aperitifs at The Rooftop at eco-luxe Harmon Guest House, relaxing AF spa time at Calistoga Ranch, and Banshee, a laid-back tasting room with worn-in leather chairs, a record player, and lots of soul.

Riviera Maya, Mexico

When you need a little R&R with a side of margs and sunshine, look no further than Vidanta Riviera Maya in Riviera Maya. @MichuTravel is one of the latest Instagrammers to flock to the resort for Salum, their Tulum-inspired beach lounge and market and JOYÀ, the first Cirque du Soleil resident show in Mexico. Should you decide to go off property, there are ways to keep busy. Get up close and personal with the wildlife snorkeling, explore the Mayan Ruins, and embark on a boating excursion for photos ops galore.

We're suckers for any show that takes place in a small town (especially when fall rolls around), and our personal favorite show to watch for all the fall vibes is Gilmore Girls. There's so much to love about this series: coffee, wacky small-town traditions, cozy sweaters, more coffee. We're obsessed with all of the characters, and while the show is serious enough to hold our attention, it doesn't really cross into crazy soap opera territory.

While this comfort show has captivated fall lovers around the world, did you know that there's actually a town in Connecticut that inspired creator and writer Amy Sherman-Palladino? Washington, Connecticut is just as cozy and cute as Stars Hollow, and it has a lot of similar locations to what you see in the show. Real-life versions of Luke's Diner, The Dragonfly Inn, and even Doose's Market can all be found in Washington.

Turn on Gilmore Girls (or the Year in the Liferevival) on Netflix to get into the fall spirit, and check out these sites without even leaving your couch (until you decide to book a trip, that is).

Brit + Co's "Gilmore Girls" Guide To Washington, Connecticut

www.instagram.com

New England Lifestyle | Courtney on Instagram: "What do you love most about fall? For me, it is the slowness that comes in early November when the leaves are just past peak and my wedding season is ending for the year. It is a gentle slowness after a fast summer and early fall that cultivates gratitude and appreciation. I love exploring all the small New England towns near our home, picking up and admiring leaves, and enjoying a cup of a seasonal spiced tea on a chilly autumn morning. 🍂 Photo collaboration with @worldsofdiscovery . . . . #yankeemagazine #connecticutcharm #connecticut_igers #newengland_igers #connecticutgram #connecticutlife #connecticutphotographer #connecticutmagazine #visitlitchfieldct #litchfieldcounty #autumninnewengland #theconnecticutcouple #thenewenglandcouple #livelovelytravel #livelovely #theeverygirltravels #wanderlust #cottagecore #simpleliving #slowliving"

Once you get to Washington, there are tons of locations you can visit and activities you can partake in to make you feel like you're in Stars Hollow. It's fairly simple to get to Washington — you can drive right into town if you're taking a car, but there are also two train stations that are around a 20-minute taxi drive from town.

There are actually five villages within Washington — Washington Green, Washington Depot, New Preston, Marbledale, and Woodville — with different aspects of the Gilmore Girls experience. You can go pumpkin and apple picking and explore Hopkins Vineyard's Annual Wine & Cheese Market. If you're into outdoor activities, go for a hike on one of the trails or go for a bike ride. Whatever you choose to do, you won't be disappointed with the scenery — U.S. News named Washington one of the best small towns to see fall foliage!

Where To Stay In Washington, Connecticut

www.instagram.com

Mayflower Inn, Auberge Resorts on Instagram: "Embrace the autumn glow in New England with one-of-a-kind experiences at our idyllic Connecticut inn located in the rolling Litchfield Hills. Whether taking a hike through Steep Rock Preserve hosted by THE WELL at Mayflower Inn or venturing on a fishing expedition to learn the art of a fly cast, infinite memories await. Call 866.217.0869 or visit us online to learn more. 📸: @jennycipoletti"

We're pretty sure that if you're taking a Gilmore Girls trip to Washington, Connecticut, that you'll want to stay in the Mayflower Inn & Spa. Sherman-Palladino says that her stay in the inn, and in town, inspired the concept of the show and the environment she wanted to create, so this is a surefire way to get in the Gilmore Girls spirit.

AirBnb

If you want something more akin to Lorelai and Rory's home, you can check out some AirBnb's around town like this sunny Colonial homefor a more homey and private experience. This house offers lake access, an indoor fireplace, and a private patio for the whole family.

www.instagram.com

The Hopkins Inn on Instagram: "A perfect day at the Hopkins!!! Photo by @hopkinsvineyard winemaker @jimbaker1240"

Hopkins Inn is another great option that will let you kick up your feet and relax. It sits right on the north shore of Lake Waramaug, and it has been hosting guests since 1847. During warmer months, you can check out the Hopkins Inn beach but when temps drop during the fall, the grounds are a great place to check out the fall foliage.

What To Do In Washington, Connecticut

www.instagram.com

Along with town sites like the Henry David Thoreau Bridge or Hidden Valley Preserve that look beautiful during the fall, you can also do some shopping for unique accessories at stores like J. Seitz & Co. that Lorelai would love, and colorful stationery at D.K. Schulman Design that would get Rory's stamp of approval.

If you want to really feel like you're in the middle of Stars Hollow, take a walk around the Washington Green Historic District to see the town's colonial architecture, the First Congregational Church Meetinghouse, and the Gunn Historical Museum for a dose of history. Similar to Stars Hollow's town square, the Green is the center for a lot of the events in Washington. You can check out festivals and fairs, or bring a picnic lunch like the characters do in "A-Tisket, A-Tasket" (although you won't have to bid on anyone to win their company).

It wouldn't be a Gilmore Girls trip without a visit to the local bookstore, and the Hickory Stick Bookshop is one of the best places in Washington, Connecticut, to check out both books and stationery. The store has been around for 60 years, and it even has a “Rory Reads Book List.”

Gilmore Girls combines a local diner and hardware store into Luke's (since he turned his father's hardware store into the diner), but in Washington, you can visit both! Check out the Washington Supply Company before eating at Marty’s Café or The Po Café (more on those later), and get your family together for a mini town hall meeting at the Bryan Memorial Town Hall.

For a glimpse at a real-life Doose's Market, visit Washington Food Market, which is the only full-service grocery store in town. It's been in the same location for more than 100 years and is a family-run business, which we love. Keep your eyes peeled for Dean stocking the shelves while you get some Gilmore-approved food.

Where To Eat And Drink In Washington, Connecticut

www.instagram.com

The Smithy & 9 Main on Instagram: "Sunny Saturday at The Smithy☀️ #smithy #sunshine #sunnyday #shoplocal #localfood #smallbusiness #market #newprestonct #washingtonct #litchfieldcountyct"

We're pretty sure that the most important thing you could consume on a Gilmore Girls weekend is coffee. Good thing there are multiple options! Grab a cup of your favorite caffeinated beverage at The Smithy, Marty’s Café, or The Po Café (or grab a cup from all three). If you decide not to order breakfast, stop into The Pantry for a pastry.

Just like Lorelai and Rory often stop into Luke's, get your fill of burgers, desserts, and pastries from restaurants like the G.W. Tavern, which will hold you over until you can make some Gilmore Girls recipes of your own.

Good news for those of you who are already growing tired of pumpkin spice season: Starbucks’ holiday menu for 2024 was just leaked, and it reportedly brings back a ton of seasonal favorites starting next month!

From a classic Peppermint Mocha to the beloved Caramel Brûlée Latte, the recent menu rumors say a new Refresher flavor, 6 unique cold foams, and 4 new bakery items are on the way as the holidays draw near – including many items we predicted. This lineup is honestly wild. The new additions are rumored to hit Starbucks stores on November 7.

If you just can’t wait to order off the Starbucks holiday menu, here’s every offering reportedly coming to your closest cafe!

Drinks

@markie_devo

NEW! Cran-Merry Orange Refresher

The Starbucks holiday menu leak reports that this brand-new Refresher is packed with sweet orange, tart cranberry and warm spice. It also has cranberry inclusions and is order-able mixed with water, lemonade or coconut milk.

Starbucks

Iced Gingerbread Oatmilk Chai

Chai is a totally underrated holiday flavor in our opinion. This iced drink is crafted with warm chai spices and creamy oat milk, then gets topped with even more frothed oat milk infused with gingerbread-flavored syrup and a sprinkling of spice.

Starbucks

Peppermint Mocha

You know it, and you love it! The Peppermint Mocha has hit Starbucks menus year after year, making it a total statement sip for the holiday season. This drink (available hot or iced) combines peppermint syrup, mocha sauce, and your milk of choice with espresso for a festive feel. It's traditionally topped with whipped cream and tasty chocolate curls.

Starbucks

Peppermint White Chocolate Mocha

Similar to the classic Peppermint Mocha, this bev swaps chocolate for white chocolate sauce.

Starbucks

Caramel Brûlée Latte

This rumored Starbucks holiday menu drink is very rich. The sweet caramel brûlée sauce totally completes the sip, along with plenty of whipped cream and crunchy lil' brûlée bits for textural variety.

Starbucks

Sugar Cookie Almondmilk Latte

Literally like a sugar cookie in liquid form, this super-sweet latte is handcrafted with blonde espresso (it's sweeter and lighter than Starbucks' traditional espresso shots), sugar cookie syrup, and almond milk for a little bit of a lighter effect. It's finished off with red and green sprinkles to up the seasonal vibes even more!

Starbucks

Chestnut Praline Latte

This nutty latte – rumored to return for 2024 – brings on notes of chestnut and praline, which is a nice, flavorful departure from the very expected peppermint you'll see everywhere come holiday time.

Starbucks

Salted Pecan Crunch Cold Brew

Initially introduced for fall 2024, it appears as though the Salted Pecan Crunch Cold Brew will stay on the Starbucks menu well into winter. The salted, pecan-flavored cold foam offers that classic sweet n' salty twist you'd enjoy on fall snacks like trail mix or dipped pretzels. The best part is you can now also order the cold foam in non-dairy form!

Starbucks

Holiday Cold Foams

Per the menu leak, Starbs will be bringing back four beloved holiday-flavored cold foamsand two new options for 2024. They're the perfect drink customization to add to your iced coffees and cold brews if you don't want to order an all-out holiday drink. See all the predicted flavors below:

  • NEW! Gingerbread
  • NEW! Salted Pecan
  • Peppermint Chocolate
  • Sugar Cookie
  • Chestnut Praline
  • Caramel Brûlée

Snacks

@markie_devo

NEW! Dark Toffee Bundt

Per the menu leak, this sweet toffee-flavored bundt will be topped with holly- and berry-shaped sprinkles. How perfect for the holiday season!

@markie_devo

NEW! Turkey Sage Danish

This savory snack reportedly includes "turkey sausage with creamy béchamel sauce in a pastry." It sounds like Thanksgiving in a single treat, and we can't wait to try it!

@markie_devo

NEW! Penguin Cookie

This cutie sugar cookie is decorated like a lil' penguin bundled up for the cold.

Starbucks

Snowman Cake Pop

Starbucks' classic vanilla cake pop gets a wintry twist with an adorable snowman face – this sweet really makes us crave the holiday season!

Starbucks

Sugar Plum Cheese Danish

This cream cheese-filled danish is topped with a slightly-spiced sugar plum jam. It's been one of our go-to's over the past few holiday seasons at Starbucks!

Starbucks

Cranberry Bliss Bar

The Cranberry Bliss Bar has become an absolute staple on the Starbucks holiday menu, and for good reason! This blondie treat is smothered in a delicious cream cheese frosting and sprinkled with orange zest and dried cranberries for added seasonal enjoyment.

What People Are Saying About The Leaked Starbucks Holiday Menu

Though most commenters on @markie_devo's Starbucks holiday menu leak post seem to be excited for the upcoming rumored menu items, some Starbs fans noticed a few things missing from the leaked lineup.

"Still missing eggnog 😢," someone noted.

"Where is the toasted white chocolate mocha 😢😢😢😢," another questioned.

"ALLLLLL these cold foams, and not the one people want: Irish Cream," one more commenter said.

"Ugh still no gingerbread loaf 😭," a disappointed user wrote. "Everything else looks bomb though!"

Despite the Eggnog Latte, Toasted White Chocolate Mocha, Irish Cream Cold Brew, and Gingerbread loaf not being part of this year's menu predictions, the holiday season is our favorite time of year at Starbucks. Many more users share the same sentiment:

"So excited for all chestnut praline shaken espressos & cranberry bliss bars 🎄🎄🎄🎄," someone wrote.

"Oh hell yess all the chestnut praline offerings," another rejoiced.
