This Couple’s Mary Poppins-Inspired Ferris Wheel Proposal Is Up to the Highest Heights

It’s not even May yet, but it sure seems like all your friends have started announcing their engagement this year. You’re pumped (let’s hear it for wedding season ’17 and ’18!) because not only do you love weddings, but your friends make for some V cute couples. Truth be told, you’re probably still reeling from all their engagement stories. BUT we have another one that will sweep you off your feet. Inspired by the adorable couple Mary Poppins and Bert, Martha + Tony’s costume proposal is the sweetest start to happily ever after we’ve seen in a *while*. If you couldn’t get enough of the latest picture-perfect park proposal, you’ll want to keep scrolling for this equally as cute (and creative) theme park proposal, where the BFF was totally in on the surprise. When Martha Mendez went to get her nose pierced and some ink done by tattoo artist Tony Nguyen, little did she know that she had just met her future BF and fiancé. The two shared their very first date under the stars at Balboa Island in Newport Beach, where they stayed up until 4am talking and listening to acoustic music. Martha knew then and there that she loved Tony. Though they watched the ferris wheel go round and round that day, they wouldn’t actually go on the ride until he proposed.

Tony decided that the place needed to be somewhere special, some place meaningful, so where they had their very first date was perfect. After two weeks of planning between Tony and Martha’s BFF Valerie, it came time to revisit the island.

On October 31st, the day of their first date three years ago, Tony took Martha back to Balboa Island for the ride of her life. Of course, they were dressed up in the cutest couple costumes ever (Mary Poppins + Bert) in the spirit of Halloween. When they finally reached the very top, Tony popped the question.

Because Martha had sensed Tony was acting a little odd and seemed to be in an “extra chipper mood,” her immediate reaction was to burst into laughter saying, “I knew it! I knew it! I had a feeling!” Eventually she said yes, shed a few tears and sealed the deal with a kiss. Their proposal came together perfectly full-circle, from their first date to the next step in their shared adventure.

Speaking of adventure: They eloped this month, with their BFF Valerie there to capture the magic. Congrats to the adorable couple!

There’s nothing better for the soul than a few days offline with my home team. My boys, baby girl Lumi, husband Dave and I recently jetted off to Hanalei, Hawaii for a much-needed escape from work, school, and all the day-to-day things. And it was WORTH it. We spent our days at the beach, evenings lounging and playing at our vacation stay, and really connecting in ways that I truly treasure.

Dave and I are both passionate about photography, but with three kids in tow, capturing the perfect travel photos takes a little creative work. You either get the shot and edit later, or miss the moment. Moments like this dreamy rainbow shot with Lumi are not to be missed!

My go-to hack for creating the perfect photo? Adobe Lightroom. It’s literally in my back pocket to make sure I can capture all those fun, adorable moments with the kids while on the go. With the Lightroom app, I can live in the moment knowing I have everything I need to edit photos of my favorite memories quickly and easily later on. For this rainbow shot, I was able to remove the sign in the background so the focus is on Lumi and her rainbow.

And for those everyday moments, make your little one the center of attention by removing distractions. For example, my leg got caught in the shot when we finally saw that big smile, so I removed it later using Lightroom.

After a fun day with the kids, I love to revisit those memories and search for the highlights recorded in my phone, clean them up with my magic wand – the Adobe Lightroom app – and share them with friends and family. It’s my time to be creative and a perfect ending to my wild adventures with my mini squad.

Before 2023 ended, Selena started leaving comments on Instagram that suggested she and Benny Blanco were in fact together. One of the comments she left appear on this Instagram fan page and it reads, "He is my absolute everything in my heart."

Some fans weren't so thrilled to see the two together though and they weren't afraid to express their opinions. But, this only prompted Selena to leave more comments that defended her relationship with Benny.

People grabbed a screenshot of one of the comments Selena responded that revealed the couple had been together for a while. "Not mad. It’s been 6 months bb. I will always defend my friends, family and fans till the day I die," she wrote. They even shared another screenshot from Selena's Instagram Story that showed her wearing a "B" ring on one of her fingers.

Yes, Deadline announced on October 8 that The Housemaid would become a film, thanks to Hidden Pictures and Lionsgate. Paul Feig will direct, Rebecca Sonnenshine will write the script, and Todd Lieberman, Laura Fischer, and Feig will produce while Alex Young, author Freida McFadden, Sydney Sweeney, and Amanda Seyfried will executive produce.

“I’m thrilled to have The Housemaid join our upcoming slate,” said Adam Fogelson, chair of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group. “A great filmmaker and a great cast with a great script from a great book is a terrific place to start.”

“Part of the fun of the book was imagining the cast while we read it, and Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried are perfect for Millie and Nina – they’re both mysterious, nuanced, and incredibly skilled at becoming characters who don’t reveal everything right away,” said Erin Westerman, co-president of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group.
