5 Things Your Commute Needs: Fifty Shades Soundtrack, To Kill a Mockingbird + More

The start of another week brings another round of five days back and forth to the office. Luckily it’s an exciting week, as Valentine’s Day is Saturday (today is the last day to order 3D Printed Roses, FYI), Fifty Shades of Grey comes out Friday (perfect for a Galentine’s evening) and SNL has a 40th Anniversary Special to make us all laugh on Sunday. While we may have to wait for the super fun stuff until the weekend arrives, we found a few things to help make the workweek a little more bearable. Indulge yourself below.

1. Fifty Shades of Grey Soundtrack: The sexiest album probably ever doesn't come out until tomorrow, but you can stream some of the songs from the star-studded soundtrack already on Spotify (sultry numbers from The Weeknd, Sia and Ellie Goulding). We can't wait for the full release though, which features two (!!!) remixes of Beyoncé songs and new romantic cuts from Annie Lennox, Jessie Ware and a second The Weeknd jam. Be careful not to get too hot and heavy on the transit ride with your seatmate ;)

2. To Kill a Mockingbird, by Harper Lee (Amazon + iBooks): After news broke last week that HarperCollins is publishing a sequel to the classic novel, titled Go Set a Watchman, we knew we had to devour the still-relevant original again before the new release automatically downloads to our Kindle/iPad on July 14. And that’s exactly what we plan on doing during our mornings every day this week.

3. SNL 40th Anniversary App (available 2/12, iOS + Android): Before all of the funniest + biggest stars hit the stage on Sunday night (seriously, there are so many of them: Tina Fey, Justin Timberlake, Amy Poehler, Emma Stone, Kristen Wiig, Jimmy Fallon, Kanye West, Melissa McCarthy, Will Ferrell, Jim Carrey, Taylor Swift, Maya Rudolph, Betty White, Kerry Washington and so, so many more) for the 40th Anniversary Special relive some of the best sketches from the past four decades. Then once you’re done laughing at the classic skits, download the app for SNL emoji + more, available on Thursday.

4. Raising the Ruf: Thanks to BarkPost, we discovered this aww-dorable photo series of a dog going on magical adventures while sleeping. “Adventures While Sleeping” will have you daydreaming of going on journeys outside of your commute, while your eyes water from all the cuteness. *insert heart eyes emoji*

5.What’s Your Emergency?: Ugly Betty‘s Michael Urie teamed up with his boyfriend + his bestie to release a preeeeetty hysterical six-episode web series. Based in the town of Hell, Michigan, the comedy chronicles the misadventures of the town’s 911 call center operators. With special guests like America Ferrera and Alan Cumming, this series is guaranteed to get you LOLing on the bus for more than just this week. After getting sucked into the entire show after a quick look at the trailer, you’re gonna be hoping for a second season ASAP.

What’s your commute must-have? Let us know in the comments.

When you welcome a furry friend into your family, one of the biggest decisions you'll have to make is choosing their name. Of course, there are the (possibly overdone) classics like Princess, Fido, and Lassie, but they're still cute. Other, more modern names, such as Luna, Milo, and Cooper, have also risen in popularity.

However, have you ever met someone who picked a pet name that left you seriously scratching your head? Plenty of people on Reddit have, and they recently shared the worst dog names they've ever heard (some of which have unfortunate or bizarre backstories).

Scroll to see some of the worst dog names you could pick in 2025...

1. Scooter

"Scooter because when they got him, he would drag his [behind] on rugs because he had worms," one user revealed.

2. Cat

cottonbro studio

"I've never been fond of highly normal-named dogs (David, Katie, Tom, Sarah, etc). But then there are also people like my [derpy] old roommate who, for some special reason, named his dog Cat," another user said.

3. Hashtag

Anna Shvets

"My sister-in-law named her dog Hashtag. Not even kidding. She thought it was trendy and unique," shared a user.

4. Joachim (Multiple Times)

bruno lucas

"My husband's family likes to get the same types of dogs and give that dog the same name as the dog before it. They've had generations of Shih Tzus named Joachim starting in, like, the 1950s, and there was also a series of Portugues water dog duos all named the same thing," one user explained.

5. Kaiser Koenig der Schnitzel Fritz

Pixabay

"I adopted a dachshund from a lady who was getting divorced and was going to submit him. His name was Kaiser Koenig der Schnitzel Fritz... We just called him Fritz," recalled another user.

6. Dave

Samson Katt

"A colleague called her dog Dave. When I started at the job, I couldn't figure out who the [heck] she was talking about when she 'took Dave for a walk.' I was too scared to ask who Dave was," detailed a user.

7. Girl & Boy (But In Reverse)

Goochie Poochie Grooming

"There was this old lady that would take her two chihuahuas to the dog park. I'd also see them occasionally on walks around the neighborhood. They were both white and looked very similar," one user remembered.

"The male dog was named Girl, and the female dog was named Boy. They were nasty little dogs. Girl peed on my shoes once, too."

8. Chair

Steven Van Elk

"I once heard someone name their dog Chair. The poor pup must have been so confused," added a user.

9. Aye

Bianca Beltrán

"My brother named his dog Aye because he wouldn't respond to anything else except 'Aye!' Come to find out, the former owners were Haitian, and the dog understood more Creole than English," a user said.

"They still got the dog. He's 15 years old, and my brother's family has learned some Creole phrases for him. He understands English now, but his name still remains Aye."

10. Joshua

Helena Lopes

"My dad never had a son to name him Joshua, so he named our dog Joshua," joked a final user.

Summer rom-coms are so back! A24 confirmed on March 4 that Celine Song's Materialists, starring Dakota Johnson, Chris Evans, and Pedro Pascal, is coming to theaters this June and I cannot contain my excitement. The new movie follows a matchmaker (Dakota) who finds herself torn between two romantic prospects. If that's too dramatic for you, girl, I'd be happy to take your place.

Here's the latest update on Materialists starring Dakota Johnson, Chris Evans, and Pedro Pascal.

Watch the 'Materialists' trailer now.

I watched the Materialists trailer four times before writing this because I just couldn't stop soaking it in — and I didn't want to miss a single detail. Of course, we get the story of Lucy (Dakota Johnson) a matchmaker, who finds herself torn between the perfect man (Pedro Pascal) and her ex (Chris Evans), who's still dreaming of "wrinkles and children that look like you," a line that will be playing in my head on REPEAT because OH MY GOSH.

But just like director Celine Song's acclaimed Past Lives, every single detail of the movie translates the emotion in the story. Dakota Johnson has an effervescent grace and masters the screen every time we see her, while Pedro and Chris don't even have to open their mouths to break my heart; their eyes say it all. The color grade and film quality are soft and romantic, which totally matches the delicate situation this trio finds themselves in; both men fall for Lucy and it looks like our matchmaker has to figure out how to avoid breaking anyone's heart — including her own. "Delicate" by Taylor Swift, anyone?

But overall, the movie teases that sometimes, there are no bad decisions, just really hard ones. And if I got all that from the Materialists trailer, I can't wait to see the full movie...even if it's going to be totally devastating. And I have a feeling I'm going to be seeing it more than once.

Is Materialists out yet?

Materialists will premiere in theaters June 13, 2025. After Past Lives became THE summer movie in 2023 (and absolutely wrecked my roommates), I know Materialists is going to be the perfect June watch.

What is the plot of Materialists?

The movie follows Dakota Johnson's character, a matchmaker in New York City who falls for the perfect man, but can't seem to let go of her ex. Given the fact the first poster for the movie includes "save the date" and looks like a wedding cake, I'm wondering if we'll see all three characters cross paths at a wedding...

Who's in the Materialists cast?

The Materialists cast has some incredible names leading the movie, and when I asked Dakota Johnson about working with Pedro Pascal and Chris Evans, she teased how much she enjoyed working with them. "They're both big idiots and I love them," she told Brit + Co exclusively at her Daddio premiere. Here's a breakdown of their roles:

  • Dakota Johnson as Lucy: a perpetually single matchmaker who finds herself torn between the perfect man and her ex.
  • Chris Evans as John: Lucy's ex who hasn't been able to let her go.
  • Pedro Pascal as Randy: a handsome stranger who changes Lucy's life forever.

Where was Materialists filmed?

Materialists was announced in February of 2024, and filming began around New York City by April. Filming wrapped in June.

I love spring and summer shoots because the movie's going to have so much life and energy in every single shot. Plus Dakota's sundresses are totally giving Brooklyn gal — and I'm dreaming of prancing around the city in a dress as soon as the weather warms up!

Are you as excited for Materialists as I am? Let us know your favorite rom-coms in the comments and check out the latest news on Madelyn Cline's new romance movie for more!

No matter what kind of furry friend you choose to welcome into your family, everyone knows that the puppy phase is tough. But aside from the typical teething and potty training problems, some breeds are more demanding than they seem.

From high energy levels to complex training needs, these canines may not be the best fit for first-time dog owners or those seeking a lower-commitment pet. If you fall in either boat, steer clear of these 10 difficult dog breeds that are more work than you might think.

Scroll to find out some of the more difficult dog breeds that require a little extra work (& a lot of commitment!)

1. Border Collie

Lauma Augstkalne

With a history of livestock herding, Border Collies are revered for their remarkable intelligence and high energy levels. They thrive when given a task to focus on, but without a way to express their natural herding instincts, they may act out and try to outsmart their owners.

Plus, they become easily stressed when they're not provided with enough mental stimulation and physical activity.

2. Saint Bernard

Patrick Barrett Jr.

Saint Bernards may look like big teddy bears, but they can also be quite stubborn. Yes, these dogs generally have sweet personalities, yet without early socialization and consistent training, these gentle giants may develop some behavioral issues.

Keeping this breed in check is harder due to their huge size. That's why any unwanted habits, like jumping up on counters or people, can spiral out of control.

Not to mention, Saint Bernards are notorious for being messy due to their excessive drooling.

3. Siberian Husky

Kateryna Babaieva

If you looked up "high-maintenance dog" in the dictionary, you might be greeted with a picture of the Siberian Husky.

This breed is independent, extremely energetic, and requires tons of exercise and mental stimulation to remain happy. Siberian Huskies also have strong-willed personalities that may make them prone to ignoring commands and doing things their way, particularly when it comes to escaping.

These escape artists are notorious for running out the door whenever they're given the chance.

4. Jack Russell Terrier

Gundula Vogel

Jack Russells have spirited personalities and seemingly boundless energy, earning them the reputation of being "hyper."

These pups have a strong prey drive as well, meaning they're prone to behaviors such as barking and digging. These tendencies can be especially challenging for first-time dog owners to handle.

Plenty of exercise, mental stimulation, and socialization are needed to keep this breed in line.

5. Australian Cattle Dog

Yo Ormedi

Much like the Siberian Husky, Australian Cattle Dogs excel when they're physically and mentally engaged. These herding dogs are often clever enough to outsmart their owners and quickly become bored, leading them to resort to mischief.

Anyone who opts to adopt an Australian Cattle Dog must provide their pup with a lot of training and a job to do, whether it's herding, agility, or another activity.

6. Rottweiler

Katia Miasoed

Rottweilers are known for their protective and territorial instincts, and if they aren't properly trained, this breed may become aggressive.

These dogs are strong-willed, large in size, and may try to assert dominance if they sense a lack of authority. Early socialization, routine training, and assertiveness are crucial for raising a Rottweiler that's well-behaved.

7. Akita

Zen Chung

Akitas have a significant prey drive since they were bred to hunt large game, and they can exhibit aggression or behavioral issues if they're not socialized and trained properly.

This breed also tends to be protective and aloof with strangers, so it may not always get along with other canines. These dogs thrive with more experienced owners who can establish clear boundaries and provide firm training.

8. Bloodhound

Bryan Bedder/Getty Images for Westminster Kennel Club

Bloodhounds are renowned for their remarkable sense of smell, making them stellar hunting dogs and helpers for law enforcement officers trying to track down missing persons and fugitives.

However, this breed can be self-reliant and stubborn, which makes training more challenging. Bloodhounds can become easily distracted by scents, so traditional training techniques tend to be less effective.

9. Dachshund

Masood Aslami

Dachshunds may look tiny and harmless, but these comically long dogs also have an independent spirit (and can sometimes be stubborn).

They have a knack for being mischievous and surprising digging abilities, meaning they'll tunnel under fences or anything else that stands in their way. Consistent training is key to curbing their more curious and disruptive tendencies.

10. Dalmatian

ko tek

Last but certainly not least are Dalmatians. These dogs have loads of energy, a strong-willed nature, and crave companionship, so they need both attention and exercise to remain happy.

Otherwise, this breed can be quite chaotic. Dalmatians are well-suited for more active owners who can keep up with their lively personalities.

Alright, let's get grounded, loves! ✨ This week's tarot reading kicks off by tuning us back into Mother Earth, especially with those seasonal vibes in full swing. Think of it: as the world around us shifts, so are we, darlings! It's all about recognizing that deep-rooted connection – we're part of this planet, after all, and underestimating that link is a no-go. The big takeaway? Change is coming, whether you're waving hello or hiding under the covers. But trust us, leaning into it is where the magic happens and things flow so much easier. We're talking subtle "micro tweaks" in your everyday, prompting a little soul-searching about what this new season means for you. What are you ready to switch up? What's staying? Just remember, it's a gradual glow-up, not an overnight makeover. Tapping into that holistic connection with the Earth? That's your secret sauce for ease, purpose, and all-around good vibes. It's all about feeling connected, finding your purpose, soaking up the joy, and bringing it all together. You've got this — so let's get into your tarot reading!

Page of Cups:

Okay, first up in our cosmic download is the dreamy Page of Cups! This card is all about tapping into your inner confidence and those sweet, sweet feelings. Think of it as your permission slip to chase what your heart desires – as long as you're not stepping on anyone's toes (including your own!), and honestly, who cares what anyone else thinks? The adorable fish in the cup? That's the universe dropping unexpected opportunities right in your lap when you're just being your authentic self and following your joy. Yes, effort and intention are still part of the equation, but aligning with what lights you up can seriously unlock some magical joy, abundance, freedom, and peace vibes. This week, let's make it a mission to pump up that passion and confidence within ourselves so we're living a life that truly feels like us.

The Moon:

The next card is the mystical Moon! This one's all about those shifting phases, telling us that the change we've been craving? It's practically here this week! But heads up, babes, it's gonna require a healthy dose of self-trust and building up that inner confidence to actually create and welcome it. The Moon also shines a light on that little flutter of fear that can pop up with the unknown – totally normal! But the cosmos is reminding us that change is already happening all around, just like the moon's cycles and the Earth's seasons. To really ride this wave, we gotta get cozy with being uncomfortable. Remember that power mantra: "nothing changes if nothing changes"? It's your reminder that you've got the power to shape your own path, and that means embracing the new. The reading also nudges us to get super clear on who we are and what we truly want, because floating around without direction? Not the vibe. Implementing changes, whether they're big leaps or tiny tweaks, that align with our most confident and brave selves – guided by those amazing feelings, that spark of excitement, pure joy, and that inner soul voice? That's the secret sauce for unlocking some serious ease.

The Hanged Man:

Okay, last but definitely not least in our reading is the intriguing Hanged Man! Now, this card is all about that "in-between" space – you know, that transitional period where you might feel a little paused or even stuck, even though things are moving behind the scenes. But don't fret, darling! This card is actually encouraging you to embrace that pause, like a cosmic red light giving you a chance to check your internal GPS before hitting the gas again. Think of it as a moment for contentment, practicing patience, and even a chance to tweak your direction if needed. The Hanged Man is your gentle reminder that big changes take time, so don't stress if you're not seeing instant results. This phase is all about trusting the universe's timing and understanding that you're in a transition, moving from point A to point B. So, even if it feels a little slow, know that momentum is building! Use this time to your advantage – optimize, check in with your soul self, and follow those little breadcrumbs of joy, excitement, and curiosity. You're exactly where you need to be right now!
