With summer almost over (WHAT?), we have to milk what scorching hot days we have left. That means it’s time to dig your toes into the sand, put on your sunglasses and sip on a cold, refreshing cocktail pronto. But before you start reaching for that watermelon champagne cocktail, we have something else in mind when it comes to quenching your thirst. Cue boozy snow cones. These cool-kid-approved treats are all grown up, thanks to a few alcoholic ingredients. And with real fruit flavors like mango, lime and blue raspberry, you’re never going to buy those store-bought brands again. So before you start pining for PSLs and apple cider recipes, take a sip of all three of these adult snow cones before summer is over.
Ingredients:
— 2-3 ounces vodka
— 2-3 ounces gin
— 2-3 ounces Cointreau
— 1/2 cup sugar
— 1/2 cup water
— 1/4 cup frozen mangos
— 3 medium-sized limes
— 1/4 cup blueberries
— 1/4 cup raspberries
— 4-5 cups ice
Simple Syrup Instructions:
for all three snow cones
1. In a microwave, heat up 1/2 a cup of water in a heat-safe container.
2. Pour in equal parts sugar and stir until it completely dissolves. Set simple syrup aside.
Mango Cointreau Snow Cone
Instructions:
1. Take 1/4 cup of mangos and place them into a blender. Add a little bit of water and blend until completely smooth.
2. Pour about three tablespoons of simple syrup into the mango juice.
3. Pour in 2-3 ounces of Cointreau.
4. Mix everything together with a spoon and put it in the fridge to chill.
Blue Raspberry Snow Cone
Instructions:
1. Place 1/4 cup of blueberries and raspberries in a blender and blend until completely smooth. If there are a lot of seeds, strain through a strainer for a smoother consistency.
2. Pour about three tablespoons of simple syrup into the blue raspberry mixture.
3. Add 2-3 ounces of vodka.
4. Mix together until completely smooth. Put in the fridge to chill.
Lime Gin Snow Cone
Instructions:
1. Squeeze 3-4 limes into a container.
2. Pour about three tablespoons of simple syrup into the lime juice.
3. Add about 2-3 ounces of gin.
4. Mix all the ingredients together with a spoon and place in the fridge to chill.
Place the ice in the blender and press the “crush ice” button to shave the ice. If you don’t have that option, put a small amount of ice into a hand towel and crush it with a mallet to create smaller pieces of ice.
Place the broken pieces of ice into a small snow cone or cup. Then pour your flavor of choice over the ice.
Snow cones that only adults can have.
Can’t decide on which one to have? Choose all three and sip them on the rocks! It’s okay — you’re worth it.
