This “Fuller House” Refresher Will Get You Ready for Season 3

Last December, mere hours after Netflix debuted season two of Fuller House — the reboot of the feel-good ’90s sitcomFull House — Twitter came calling for season three. Fans will get what they asked for in just a couple of days, when the third season drops on Friday, September 22 — which just so happens to be the 30th (!) anniversary of the original show’s premiere date.

We already know that season three will feature a trip to Tokyo, some summertime fun, and Jodie Sweetin’s IRL broken ankle, but we also can’t wait to see how the show handles some of season two’s cliffhangers. Before you dive into a Tanner family binge-watch, allow us to refresh your memory about the major events of last year’s finale.

DJ proposed… to Steve’s girlfriend. In season two, DJ started to realize that she still had feelings for her high school sweetheart, Steve, even though she was dating Matt again. But Steve had already moved on — with a DJ lookalike named CJ, no less! In the finale, Steve asked DJ if he could propose to CJ at the New Year’s Eve party DJ was throwing. But CJ overheard Steve practicing his proposal on DJ (what a good friend!) and got the wrong idea. She started to storm out, only to be stopped by DJ — who did Steve’s proposal for him. CJ accepted, but the look Steve and DJ exchanged afterward told us the wedding might not happen in the end.

The family welcomed its newest member. Jesse and Becky returned to San Francisco to complete the adoption of their baby girl (named Pamela, after Danny’s wife and Jesse’s sister), which they’d announced at Thanksgiving. Joey and Danny came back, too, but a fight broke out when Jesse couldn’t decide who the baby’s godfather should be. Danny tried laying on the guilt, reminding them that he let their family live in his house for so long, but they fired back by pointing out how much babysitting money they saved him over the years. Then Danny insulted Jesse’s song “Forever” — how dare he! — which led to Jesse insulting Joey’s long-running puppet act with Mr. Woodchuck and Joey putting down Danny’s career by saying people only watched his show to see Becky. OUCH. Ultimately, though, they all made up, because this show is about nothing if not family.

Stephanie considered an even Fuller House. It was revealed in season one of the show that Stephanie isn’t able to carry children. When her adorably goofy boyfriend, Jimmy, mentioned in the season two finale that he wants kids of his own, Stephanie panicked and confided in her Aunt Becky. Though Steph and Jimmy’s relationship was still VERY new at that point, her chat with Becky about adoption was a really sweet moment — and we can’t help but wonder where the young love between Steph and her new beau could go.

The kids learned one of the Tanner family’s trademark life lessons. Jackson and Ramona were having their own New Year’s party with some friends upstairs, but little bro Max was cramping their style. Jackson tricked Max into thinking it was midnight way earlier than it was, and when Max realized what happened, he plotted the perfect little-brother revenge and trapped his siblings in the bedroom. DJ eventually made him apologize, but he was still mad when he stormed downstairs to where Danny, Jesse, and Joey were having their tense godfather fight. They reminded him (and themselves) that family comes first, even when you’re upset.

What do you hope to see on Fuller House season three? Let us know @BritandCo!

The cozy, bright world of Stars Hollow could not be farther from the dark grittiness of Gotham, which is why I was shook to my core when I found out a beloved Gilmore Girls cast member was a part of The Penguin on Max. The show follows the titular Batman villain, played by Colin Farrell, and his rise to power in the city's criminal underworld. And in episode 2, Luca Falcone shows up to become the leader of the family — and if Luca looks familiar to you, it's because he's played by Scott Cohen AKA Max Medina!

Who is Luca Falcone?

Macall Polay/HBO

The Penguin Cast

Luca Falcone, played by Scott Cohen, becomes the head of the Falcone crime family after his brother Carmine Falcone is assassinated. And then he winds up executing Castillo after C is accused of being a mole. This is a far cry from the Max we know and love in Gilmore Girls — he is so kind, funny, and charming that part of me wishes he were Lorelai's endgame...

The rest of The Penguin cast includes Colin Farrell as Oz Cobb, Cristin Milioti as Sofia Falcone, Rhenzy Feliz as Victor Aguilar, Michael Kelly as Johnny Viti, Shohreh Aghdashloo as Nadia Maroni, Deirdre O’Connell as Francis Cobb, Clancy Brown as Salvatore Maroni, James Madio as Milos Grapa, Michael Zegen as Alberto Falcone, Carmen Ejogo as Eve Karlo, Theo Rossi as Dr. Julian Rush.

For fans wondering "Will there be a Guts tour?", Rodrigo enlisted the help of a popular TikTok audio to reply to a comment reading, “When do you think you’ll go on tour?” – although her reply was severely open-ended, and didn’t actually answer the question at all.

“Oh my goodness, I love this question,” the audio rang out, finishing with an incomplete: “Um, I think–” and it cut off. She looked elated in the video, and no wonder. The Guts tour was one of the most fun parts about 2024!

You don't necessarily have to be Team Jess to agree that life without Milo Ventimiglia's Gilmore Girls spinoff is devastating. The series, which was tentatively called Windward Circle, was supposed to use an episode of Gilmore Girls season 3 when Jess goes to California to find his dad as a sort of backdoor pilot (an episode of an existing show that features a ton of new characters to test if they're well-received). But unfortunately, even though we found the concept wildly entertaining, the CW pulled the plug.

Warner Bros. Television

Considering Milo Ventimiglia is a star, and Jess is so beloved, the fact that Windward Circle never happened makes me just as sad as the idea that Gilmore Girls season 7 wasn't supposed to be the finale! Here's everything you need to know about the series that never was. Sigh.

Why was Windward Circle cancelled?

The CW/The WB/YouTube

Even though Gilmore Girls already introduced the characters we'd see in Windward Circle, according to IMDb, the show was reportedly scrapped because it was too expensive to film in Venice Beach. Stars Hollow is actually part of the Warner Brothers lot so Gilmore Girls didn't have to film on location often. Windward Circle would have been a different story.

"I think she really wanted that to be such a different vibe from the leaves falling in Stars Hollow to being out in Venice in California," saysGilmore Girls writer and consulting producer Stan Zimmerman. "It just never gelled into anything, but it was interesting to see Jess's life and what that would've been like."

"There is just something about the East Coast...those leaves changing," he continues. "It just has this cool, towny feeling you just want to hang out in and it's very warm."

What was Windward Circle about?

The WB/The CW/YouTube

The Jess Mariano spinoff would have focused on his relationship with his dad, and his life in California. If you ask me, Jess' witty comebacks and all that leather would have been just as entertaining on a California beach as it was in Stars Hollow.

Although, knowing how much we love a teen drama romance, there's a chance Jess would have ended up with someone besides Rory. I don't know if I could have handled that!

Do we ever see Jess again?

Netflix

Yes! Jess Mariano returns in a few season 4 episodes, and in Gilmore Girls season 6. He also shows up in Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, and has a beautiful conversation with Rory that PROVES they're endgame. I will not be taking suggestions!

Were there any other planned Gilmore Girls spinoffs?

Warner Bros. Television

Another idea for a spinoff of sorts involved Rory and Lorelai coming back for another 13 episodes after the season 7 finale. But Lauren Graham told TVGuide in 2007 that she and Alexis Bledel were ready for a break from the insane filming schedules.

"Right now you have me working six to seven days an episode, and Alexis doing about the same," she said. "They tried to make it appealing for us, and we tried to be imaginative, but then at the end of the day it just felt like we were trying to do something impossible."

Tell us your best ideas for a Jess Gilmore Girls spinoff on Facebook!

We're suckers for any show that takes place in a small town (especially when fall rolls around), and our personal favorite show to watch for all the fall vibes is Gilmore Girls. There's so much to love about this series: coffee, wacky small-town traditions, cozy sweaters, more coffee. We're obsessed with all of the characters, and while the show is serious enough to hold our attention, it doesn't really cross into crazy soap opera territory.

While this comfort show has captivated fall lovers around the world, did you know that there's actually a town in Connecticut that inspired creator and writer Amy Sherman-Palladino? Washington, Connecticut is just as cozy and cute as Stars Hollow, and it has a lot of similar locations to what you see in the show. Real-life versions of Luke's Diner, The Dragonfly Inn, and even Doose's Market can all be found in Washington.

Turn on Gilmore Girls (or the Year in the Liferevival) on Netflix to get into the fall spirit, and check out these sites without even leaving your couch (until you decide to book a trip, that is).

New England Lifestyle | Courtney on Instagram: "What do you love most about fall? For me, it is the slowness that comes in early November when the leaves are just past peak and my wedding season is ending for the year. It is a gentle slowness after a fast summer and early fall that cultivates gratitude and appreciation. I love exploring all the small New England towns near our home, picking up and admiring leaves, and enjoying a cup of a seasonal spiced tea on a chilly autumn morning. 🍂 Photo collaboration with @worldsofdiscovery . . . . #yankeemagazine #connecticutcharm #connecticut_igers #newengland_igers #connecticutgram #connecticutlife #connecticutphotographer #connecticutmagazine #visitlitchfieldct #litchfieldcounty #autumninnewengland #theconnecticutcouple #thenewenglandcouple #livelovelytravel #livelovely #theeverygirltravels #wanderlust #cottagecore #simpleliving #slowliving"

Once you get to Washington, there are tons of locations you can visit and activities you can partake in to make you feel like you're in Stars Hollow. It's fairly simple to get to Washington — you can drive right into town if you're taking a car, but there are also two train stations that are around a 20-minute taxi drive from town.

There are actually five villages within Washington — Washington Green, Washington Depot, New Preston, Marbledale, and Woodville — with different aspects of the Gilmore Girls experience. You can go pumpkin and apple picking and explore Hopkins Vineyard's Annual Wine & Cheese Market. If you're into outdoor activities, go for a hike on one of the trails or go for a bike ride. Whatever you choose to do, you won't be disappointed with the scenery — U.S. News named Washington one of the best small towns to see fall foliage!

Where To Stay In Washington, Connecticut

Mayflower Inn, Auberge Resorts on Instagram: "Embrace the autumn glow in New England with one-of-a-kind experiences at our idyllic Connecticut inn located in the rolling Litchfield Hills. Whether taking a hike through Steep Rock Preserve hosted by THE WELL at Mayflower Inn or venturing on a fishing expedition to learn the art of a fly cast, infinite memories await. Call 866.217.0869 or visit us online to learn more. 📸: @jennycipoletti"

We're pretty sure that if you're taking a Gilmore Girls trip to Washington, Connecticut, that you'll want to stay in the Mayflower Inn & Spa. Sherman-Palladino says that her stay in the inn, and in town, inspired the concept of the show and the environment she wanted to create, so this is a surefire way to get in the Gilmore Girls spirit.

AirBnb

If you want something more akin to Lorelai and Rory's home, you can check out some AirBnb's around town like this sunny Colonial homefor a more homey and private experience. This house offers lake access, an indoor fireplace, and a private patio for the whole family.

The Hopkins Inn on Instagram: "A perfect day at the Hopkins!!! Photo by @hopkinsvineyard winemaker @jimbaker1240"

Hopkins Inn is another great option that will let you kick up your feet and relax. It sits right on the north shore of Lake Waramaug, and it has been hosting guests since 1847. During warmer months, you can check out the Hopkins Inn beach but when temps drop during the fall, the grounds are a great place to check out the fall foliage.

What To Do In Washington, Connecticut

Along with town sites like the Henry David Thoreau Bridge or Hidden Valley Preserve that look beautiful during the fall, you can also do some shopping for unique accessories at stores like J. Seitz & Co. that Lorelai would love, and colorful stationery at D.K. Schulman Design that would get Rory's stamp of approval.

If you want to really feel like you're in the middle of Stars Hollow, take a walk around the Washington Green Historic District to see the town's colonial architecture, the First Congregational Church Meetinghouse, and the Gunn Historical Museum for a dose of history. Similar to Stars Hollow's town square, the Green is the center for a lot of the events in Washington. You can check out festivals and fairs, or bring a picnic lunch like the characters do in "A-Tisket, A-Tasket" (although you won't have to bid on anyone to win their company).

It wouldn't be a Gilmore Girls trip without a visit to the local bookstore, and the Hickory Stick Bookshop is one of the best places in Washington, Connecticut, to check out both books and stationery. The store has been around for 60 years, and it even has a “Rory Reads Book List.”

Gilmore Girls combines a local diner and hardware store into Luke's (since he turned his father's hardware store into the diner), but in Washington, you can visit both! Check out the Washington Supply Company before eating at Marty’s Café or The Po Café (more on those later), and get your family together for a mini town hall meeting at the Bryan Memorial Town Hall.

For a glimpse at a real-life Doose's Market, visit Washington Food Market, which is the only full-service grocery store in town. It's been in the same location for more than 100 years and is a family-run business, which we love. Keep your eyes peeled for Dean stocking the shelves while you get some Gilmore-approved food.

We're pretty sure that the most important thing you could consume on a Gilmore Girls weekend is coffee. Good thing there are multiple options! Grab a cup of your favorite caffeinated beverage at The Smithy, Marty’s Café, or The Po Café (or grab a cup from all three). If you decide not to order breakfast, stop into The Pantry for a pastry.

Just like Lorelai and Rory often stop into Luke's, get your fill of burgers, desserts, and pastries from restaurants like the G.W. Tavern, which will hold you over until you can make some Gilmore Girls recipes of your own.
