Sometimes all you really want to do is have some fun. The kind of fun you had when you were a kid. Remember? Roller coaster rides. Carnivals. Slides. Here’s a list of ten amazing travel spots to hit up when you want to channel your inner child.

1. Retro Row, Los Angeles, CA: Feeling like your not-so-typical shopping spree? Head over to the quirky 4th Street strip known as Retro Row in Long Beach’s shopping district. The area is known for its vintage clothing and furnishings, and recently has seen a bit of a revival of sorts. It’s expanded a few blocks to include restaurants and wine bars with trendy craft beers and curated wine lists. And it’s the place to be at night, where you can often hear live music. 2. Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade, Orlando, FL: Ah, Harry Potter. If you’re in your 20s, it’s likely you were one of those kids staying up late at your local bookstore, eagerly anticipating the release of the next book. And you probably went to the premiere of all of the movies and basically wish you could have actually gone to Hogwarts. If Harry Potter brings out the kid in you, then visiting the whimsical Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure Orlando is an absolute must. 3. Wrigley Field, Chicago, IL: Take me out to the ball game! Take me out to the crowd! There’s something classic about going to watch a baseball game. Sitting in the stands with friends. Eating a hot dog. Enjoying the day. And there’s something special about enjoying this all-American pastime in the beautiful and historic “Friendly Confines” of Wrigley Field in Chicago. 4. Coney Island, Brooklyn, NY: Coney Island was the birthplace of the roller coaster and modern amusement park. Go for Nathan’s Famous hot dogs and stay for the nostalgia of it all. This kitschy carnivalesque conglomeration of concessions will have you feeling like a little kid again. People-watch along the boardwalk, ride the Wonder Wheel for a nice panorama and hop on the famous Cyclone, which is also a National Historic Landmark. 5. Mardi Gras, New Orleans, LA: If you’re not feeling playful before a Mardi Gras parade in New Orleans, chances are you’ll be feeling pretty playful once you’ve caught a moon pie or two. There’s nothing quite like it. Decked out in purple, green and gold, everyone spills out onto the sidewalks to get in on the action, and there is literally dancing in the streets. 6. Lego Headquarters, Billund, Denmark: You probably have some memory of playing with Legos in your childhood. Well, forget Legoland (although, that’s fun too)! The Lego Headquarters in Denmark is where it’s at. (No, really. That’s where they’re headquartered). And, yes, everything is awesome there. (I mean, see the photo above). Get a tour of the original Lego Land by registering for the 2015 Inside Tour Dates. 8. Park Guell, Barcelona, Spain: If ever a park was whimsical, it’s this one. This playful park was designed by renowned Spanish architect Antonio Gaudí. Meander around this slightly surreal landscape, where you’ll come across mosaic dragon-lizards and a “forest” of leaning tree-like stone columns. 9. Disneyland, Paris, France: Okay, so let’s assume you’ve had ample time to wine, dine and view art in Paris. It’s the City of Love, but you also love Disneyland because — let’s face it — it really is the happiest place on earth. This Major Actor Just Confirmed They're Starring In The 'Harry Potter' TV Show

He’s back! Dumbledore is back! Okay, maybe that’s not exactly the same as Daniel Radcliffe’s iconic line from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (he is warning the wizarding world about Voldemort, after all), but the sentiment still rings true because John Lithgow just confirmed he’ll be starring as the Hogwarts headmaster in Max’s new Harry Potter TV show.

While promoting his new movie The Rule of Jenny Penn, John Lithgow told ScreenRant in a video interview that he's going to be playing the role of Albus Dumbledore in the Harry Potter TV show.

"It came as a total surprise to me. I just got the phone call up at the Sundance Film Festival for yet another film, and it was not an easy decision because it's going to define me for the last chapter of my life, I'm afraid," the actor said. "But I'm very excited. Some wonderful people are turning their attention back to Harry Potter. That's why it's been such a hard decision. I'll be about 87 years old at the wrap party, but I've said yes."

Now HBO hasn't officially announced the news yet, and added that while they "appreciate that such a high-profile series will draw a lot of rumor and speculation," they'll "only confirm details as we finalize deals."

One detail we do know? The show should start filming this summer at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden, so we might see some very familiar sets!

Ben Barnes and Andrew Garfield are two very popular fancasts (as Sirius Black and Remus Lupin, respectively) — and they’ve both actually talked about the roles! Andrew told BBC that he "will consider any role offered, how's that?" when asked about a potential role in the reboot, while Ben told Us Weekly in February 2025 that “You wouldn’t believe the amount of Harry Potter books I’ve signed or Gryffindor scarves I’ve been given as gifts,” adding “the amount of fan fiction that I’ve been drafted into very enthusiastically is incredible.”

“It’s been going on for 20 years that people have been very kindly saying that they would’ve liked me to have played a young version of the Sirius Black character in Harry Potter, but now it’s been going on so long that I’m now the age of the actual character in the books,” he joked.

I recently watched the first couple of episodes of Season 2 and it's the funniest and rawest TV series I've watched since being persuaded to binge The White Lotus. But, that's not the show it actually reminds me of.

No, Survival of the Thickest feels like Insecure and And Just Like That had a comedic baby we get to watch grow in real time. There's the familiar supportive friend group, burgeoning careers, and passionate love stories that make you want to call your bestie to complain or scream in excitement.

What is 'Survival of the Thickest' about?

What happens when you face the worst breakup ever? You cry and find a way to revamp your life, according to Mavis from Survival of the Thickest.

The series revolves around her getting acclimated with being single again while juggling her floundering stylist career. She's got a supportive village, but that doesn't mean she's not prone to making mistakes or facing situations worth cackling about outside of her group chat.

Jacque is a talented fashion photographer who seems to know what to say to uplift Mavis. Though he starts off saying and doing all the right things, Mavis catches him cheating on her and it leaves her devastated. Interestingly enough, Jacque appears to be remorseful over his huge transgression and tries to prove that he won't make the same mistake again.

3. Tasha Smith as Marley

Marley's one of Mavis' no-nonsense besties who applies the same tenacity to her career as a finance executive. Her inspirational quips may come across as 'funny,' but she doesn't lie when she encourages those around her to move in excellence.

Mavis is surrounded by even more love with the addition of the creative Khalil by her side. Luca's all about Mavis and that's the I like it. Not only is he eye candy, but he's got enough passion stored in his body that makes me feel he's the obvious choice for our love-worn protagonist. However, only time will tell if Mavis thinks she and him are endgame or not.

Survival of the Thickest is all about making sure all voices, storylines and identities are championed. Having Peppermint as another close friend of Mavis rounds out her supportive village because she's big on bringing her fun-loving energy wherever she goes. And when Peppermint takes a brief break from performing to get married, Mavis is right there rooting for her.

10. Alecsys Proctor-Turner as Nala

My, how the tables have turned! In Season 2 of Survival of the Thickest, Mavis gets her own assistant in the form of the fashion-obsessed Nala. Though she has moments where her naive nature shines through, she helps provide even more comedic relief and moments of clarity.

8 Must-Visit National Parks You Simply Can't Miss

The year was 2021, I was nothing but a naive, fresh college graduate. So, I know you’re wondering, how did young Danielle spend her net worth (which I believe was $500, to be exact)? If you answered “invested it,” you’d be gravely wrong. Instead, I went on a cross country road trip! Learn from my (very fun) mistakes, save your money, and travel wisely with my first-hand recommendations.

As an ode to my post-college road trip, here's a list of my 8 must-visit national parks.

1. Glacier National Park, Montana

The mecca of all national parks, Glacier National Park is a must-visit park for those who love to work for a jaw-dropping view of the Rocky Mountains. Plus you get built-in hiking buddies, AKA the mountain goats that delightfully graze beside hikers. If you’re not into hiking, Glacier’s renowned Going-to-the-Sun road is a 50-mile stretch that requires no physical feat; the drive crosses the Continental Divide with incredible views you’ll get nowhere else.

My key advice for this high-altitude drive – vote someone in who is not afraid of heights to tackle it. I was in fact white knuckling it while we serpentined our way up the windy road. Fun fact: Glacier’s Going-to-the-Sun road is featured in the opening scene of The Shining.

2. Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming

Wyoming may be most known for Yellowstone National Park, but I think Grand Teton takes the cake. It is seriously underrated, and therefore, seriously not crowded. I’ll venture and say it even has better views than Yellowstone. Much like Glacier National Park, it’s one of the few parks in the United States that still has glaciers. Also, the Teton mountain range is one of the youngest in North America. Have I enticed you yet?

3. Arches National Park, Utah

If you want to feel as though you’re being abducted by aliens, or one amongst aliens, I think Arches National Park is the closest you’ll get to chasing that very niche feeling we’ll call otherworldly for now. Described as “alien terrain,” Arches is like a natural art gallery, its towering rock arches and a reddish-orange landscape unlike anything I'd seen before.

The vast desert stretches out as far as the eye can see, and at the heart of it all stands Landscape Arch, the world’s longest natural arch. We drove in at sunset and because of that, ventured around for free, though I’m not sure the national park service would want me advertising that.

4. ​Zion National Park, Utah

If dangerous, potentially near-death experiences are your thing, then I have just the park for you! In all honesty, Zion is breathtaking, but it does have Angels Landing – one of the most dangerous hikes in the United States. I opted out, because (see the Glacier National Park excerpt), I'm afraid of heights and didn’t trust my hand-eye coordination. Zion’s backdrop is the desert, but its red mountains and crystal clear rivers make you think otherwise once you’re enveloped by the park.

Oddly enough, the stand out feature of the park was the town outside of it. I grabbed a delicious coffee and bagel to fuel myself for a day of hiking. My one recommendation would be to not go on Memorial Day weekend as the park seemingly morphed into a madhouse as the day progressed. Please give me grace, I was but a young lass with nothing but a coffee in hand and a dream to see Zion.

5. ​Bryce Canyon National Park, Utah

My common theme seems to be referencing movie genres, and only movie genres, to describe national parks, so I’ll keep that trend going by telling you Utah’s Bryce Canyon National Park made me feel like I was in Star Wars. I mean, the park is known for its hoodoos, what’s more Star Wars sounding than that? This is another park you won’t believe until you see it.

The hoodoos, which I can only describe as super cool, thin rocks that stand straight up – you’re welcome for the scientific explanation – were formed from erosion as the park was once underwater. We hiked down into the vast land of hoodoos on a 90-degree day, and all I can say is: unlike me, please make sure to bring enough water.

6. ​Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado

Rocky Mountain is one of the highest national parks in the country, and as a result, offers beautiful panoramic views of the Rocky Mountains. But that also means if elevation is not kind to you, you may want to scratch Rocky Mountain National Park off your list. If you’re an animal lover like me, this park is an essential. I saw my first ever moose and gorgeous elk not even 30 feet from me. Also, I swore I was done with movie references, but isn’t it fun?

While it’s not in the park, you won’t want to miss The Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, just 5 miles from the Rocky Mountain entrance. It’s the very hotel that inspired Stephen King's The Shining. I immediately recognized the remarkable neoclassical building in its entirety with its dramatic mountainous backdrop – am I revealing that I watch too much TV?

7. ​Acadia National Park, Maine

I don’t think I’m alone in stating that Acadia National Park is a true New England gem. Yes, the park itself is mesmerizing, but it’s the entire experience Acadia and its surrounding town has to offer that makes it a must-visit park. We hiked the park’s iconic Cadillac Mountain at 2 a.m., but don’t worry, you don’t have to be as adventurous (or dumb) as we were; you can simply drive up the mountain instead.

But really, what’s better than hiking in the pitch of night only to emerge and witness a stunning sunrise over the Atlantic Ocean? Afterward, we explored Bar Harbor, the charming, oceanside town rich with New England history and charm, then got a bite to eat at a small diner that served up to-die-for hash browns and pancakes.

8. ​Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Tennessee

Blasting Dolly Parton’s “Jolene” in our tiny Subaru Impreza, my friends and I rolled up to Great Smoky Mountains National Park. This was the last national park we visited on the road trip, and it was the perfect ending to a perfect trip – barring the crippling debt the trip put us all in.

Nonetheless, the Great Smoky Mountains are wonderfully serene and peaceful. It’s the perfect park for those that enjoy lush green forests, the hum of cicadas, and the twinkling light emitted from fireflies. And who doesn’t love that?
