We all know the true loves of our lives are our best girls. They’re there for the good, the bad and the ugly — and are always down to drink a bucket of wine and binge watch rom coms when you need ’em. This year, celebrate your #squad by throwing a no-plus-ones allowed Galentine’s Day party and invite them to the bash in a really thoughtful way: with Galentine’s Day printables (and more wine, obviously!). Send these printables as invites for your Galentine’s Day brunch or dinner, or if your besties are all out of town, snail mail them with a little gift and a “next time!” signoff. Either way, your friends will definitely feel the L-O-V-E.

I'd like to consider myself a romantic person in every aspect of life. I'm constantly coming up with stories, putting ribbons in my hair, and literally stopping to smell the roses (what can I say, when you see a flower in New York City, you might as well savor it). Needless to say, Valentine's Day (and Galentine's Day) is one of my favorite holidays. Aside from the fact that it provides a brief burst of color in the bleak midwinter, it is also a reminder that no matter how tough life gets, love is always worth celebrating. There's just one catch: I have been single my whole life, which makes the constant stream of date night ideas and partner gift inspo that flood the internet this time of year feel like they're a touch out of reach.
Valentine's Day can be less than thrilling if you feel like you don't have anyone to spend it with, but take it from me: there are more than enough ways to have a great time riding solo. If you've recently gone through a breakup or you're the only single friend left in your group, here's my best advice on tackling the upcoming love season if you're single on Valentine's Day (with a little help from Dr. Jenny Taitz, author of How To Be Single And Happy).
Here's how to fully embrace being in your single era on Valentine's Day
Chloe Williams/Brit + Co
Whether or not we admit it, there's definitely still a stigma around singleness. "Despite the fact that these days we may not need a partner to fulfill our hopes, being single remains so stigmatized, with shows depicting the need to compete to win love and headlines depicting women who are single as in an unfortunate situation," Dr. Taitz says. "It’s key to be mindful of these unhelpful messages to [keep them] from impacting how we view ourselves."
I've been on a few dates as an adult, but I often feel like I've missed out on a lot of the foundational experiences that come with being a young woman. Not to mention that it's easier than I'd like to admit to feel like there's something wrong with me if I'm the common thread through every dead-end romantic situation.
Even if comments from your friends like "They're just not good enough for you" or "You're so independent" have good intentions, not feeling desired is hard. Sometimes you just need to process those emotions in whatever way works best for your wellbeing because singleness is incredibly complex — one day I'm enjoying eating at a restaurant alone, the next a rom-com makes me cry — and as easy as it is to swing between the extremes of total happiness to bitterness, the reality is that I'm usually somewhere in between.
"Days like Valentine’s Day can be incredible opportunities to practice self-validation and self-compassion," Taitz says. "Being single on a day that can pull you to compare or feel less than is a good time to be especially kind to yourself [and act] in ways that remind you that you are enough and don’t need a plus one to feel whole."
Activities that engage your soul will help you feel good *and* romanticize self-care at the same time. I love creating a vision board in my bullet journal to see my dreams on paper, or reminding myself of where my true worth lies. If you're really struggling with feeling lonely, Taitz recommends listing out the areas of your life that matter to you, then writing down the value you want to add to each and mapping out how and why those values matter.
"There’s no way a relationship can be your full sense of worth — that’s not fair to you or the relationship and that’s not accurate in terms of what we know about happiness," she says. "Happiness hinges on being present and engaging in positive actions and having fulfilling relationships — and coupling isn’t the only source of connection (assuming it is almost like limiting your diet to strawberries — it’s not going to fill you and will deplete you)."
There is so much more to my worth than whether I have a romantic partner: I love movies and books, I love talking to my little sister on the phone, and I can spend hours happily in the kitchen listening to music and making a nourishing dinner. There's much more to your worth, too.
My mother constantly reminds me to wait for the Right person, not the Right Now person. There are pros and cons to every phase of life, and I'm very content with the pros right now. Eventually, however, I'm hoping my Valentine's Day charcuterie board for one will become a board for two.

You can buy yourself flowers, call your mom or your best friend, and just have a wonderful day celebrating love in all its forms. All dressed up but not sure where to go? Here are some ideas for your V-Day.
Is It Weird To Go To A Bar Alone?
Going to a bar on your own is definitely not weird. Just sit back and enjoy your favorite drink while you people watch. Plus, you never know who you might meet ;).
Is It Weird To Go To A Restaurant Alone?
It's definitely not weird to go to a restaurant alone. I look at it like taking myself on a date. Well, myself and my favorite book!

My best friend and I recently had a 3-hour conversation about navigating love in our 30s, coming to the conclusion that our prior breakups helped us become clearer about what we want in love. After we said our good-byes, I started thinking about questions worth asking yourself when you're single.
Unlike some people who tell you not to worry about love when you're not coupled up, I think it actually does help to have an idea about the kind of person and relationship that'll fit in your life when the time comes. I wish it wish it were this easy, but the perfect situation isn't going to fall into your lap — because it doesn't exist. Even now, I'm still learning about myself and my fiancé as we experience life together.
So are you single and trying to understand what you actually want out of your love life? Here are some questions you should ask yourself!
Here are the questions to ask yourself while you're in your single era!
1. Start with questions that focus on you
Either you agree with clichés or you don't. As annoying as they can be, hearing someone tell you to get to know yourself while you're single shouldn't be. It only gets sticky when people tell you that you'll never find love while on your self-care journey. We can agree to disagree with that.
So, what kind of questions should you be asking yourself to get to know your inner workings better?
- Who do I think I am?
- What are my favorite qualities about myself?
- Do I have any habits I want to change?
- Would I date myself if I were a different person?
- How do I pour love into myself?
2. More questions to ask yourself about who you are
Other questions you can ask yourself can have something to do with your morals or boundaries. It's a way for you to understand areas of your life that you may not always think about everyday.
- What do I value in life?
- What kind of boundaries have I set (or need to put in place)?
- Do I spend a lot of time focused on other people?
- Do I have religious beliefs?
3. Think about if you want to be single or in a serious relationship
Once you have a better understanding of who you are, think about the kind of romantic love you'd like to have in your life. There's a chance you're not even interested in a serious monogamous relationship right now and that's okay. The point is to get clear about what you do want.
Start asking:
- Am I okay with being single or do I feel pressured to settle down?
- Do I care more about dating several people or choosing one person to romantically connect with?
- Is there a reason I wouldn't want a long-term relationship?
- Is it hard to be vulnerable whether I'm looking for something short-term or long-term?
4. Revisit past flings and relationships
Though tempting, this isn't a confirmation that you should call the ex you've been thinking about. Rather, take the time to revisit what you think did or didn't work.
- What brought me joy about prior flings or relationships?
- Was there mutual respect between myself and former romantic partners?
- Did I or former partners feel possessive of each other?
- Did I ever feel afraid for my safety in prior relationships?
5. Allow yourself to be curious about the kind of partner you're attracted to
I'm not asking you to 'listen and judge' yourself for who you're typically attracted to. We all have our reasons why certain people make our hearts race even if said people aren't the greatest for us in the long run. This is the time to be curious about who you're drawn to and why.
- Am I drawn to people's physical appearance first or their personality?
- What kind of qualities am I attracted to overall?
- Have I ever ignored red flags because I thought someone was attractive?
6. Think about the kind of long-term relationship you'd like to have
Ready for something serious? There's still some questions you should ask yourself before jumping into something new.
- Am I capable of trusting someone new?
- How do I want to feel in a new romantic relationship?
- What are my goals if I decide to pursue a long-term relationship?
- How would I like to handle potential disagreements in my new relationships?
- What are my dealbreakers?
These questions may seem like a lot, but it's a way to help you understand how you want your love like to look. Also, there's a possibility you could encounter scenarios that may not fit under these questions because life can be full of surprises. All that matters is you're able to have a better understanding of who you are and what you want in 2025.

Exes Christina Haack & Tarek El Moussa Finally Apologize After 8 Years In HGTV's 'The Flip Off'
Jan 30, 2025
Exes Christina Haack and Tarek El Moussa are back at HGTV, but this time they're competing against each other...alongside Tarek's wife Heather El Moussa. And if you think that's a lot to unpack, get ready! The first episode aired last night (January 29), and it's clear the former spouses aren't just in it for the real estate wins — they're finally opening up about their divorce, Christina's most recent divorce, and more. Their tearful confessions simultaneously broke and mending our hearts last night. Here's what they had to say.
Scroll to see what Christina Haack & Tarek El Moussa shared on The Flip Off.
In the first episode of The Flip Off, Christina shared with Tarek that she and Josh Hall officially split, tearfully admitting that she quickly gets into relationships that "aren't right" for her and noting how "horrible" everything's been for her since their divorce in 2016
As Christina and Tarek opened up to one another, the exes eventually came to forgive each other. Christina said, "I know we’re in a good place now, but yeah, we went through a lot of stuff. I don’t think anyone understands just how much stuff we went through. We met when we were so young."
Christina shared that Tarek was her "best friend" before the divorce, and that afterward she lost that and had to be a full-time mom — both of which "really, really, really hurt" her "really affected" her. Afterwards, Tarek said, "I understand that feeling of being a little bit lost. And I acknowledge that I’m a big part, if not the entire part, of all of this."
In a pivotal moment — for Christina and Tarek, but really all of us as fans — she said, "I’m really sorry for s---. I really am. I just want you to know that." Tarek took her knee during the apology, and Christina then asked, "You forgive me?"
Tarek's response? "A hundred percent, yeah."
And it wasn't just Christina apologizing either. Tarek said that he "did a lot of things" too, noting that he "holds zero against" her. In his confessional, Tarek opened up more about the cause for their split. He said, "I got diagnosed with cancer and then I hurt my back. I lost 60 lbs. because I was taking so many opiates and Vicodin and painkillers. I lost my way, lost who I was. I just wasn’t the best husband. I wasn’t the best father. You know, I own my s---. It wasn’t me, but it was me."
In the emotional conversation, Christina told Tarek, "You’re a great dad. I’m really proud of you. You’ve come a really long way. I can see it, you know. You’re so much calmer, you’re so much wiser, for real."
To see these two grow to love and support each other in a new way is truly beautiful! (And so are the houses they continue to flip. 😉)
You can catch The Flip Off on HGTV every Wednesday at 8pm EST.
