Styling bangs can be a pain – waking up with them looking like you’ve walked through a literal car wash dryer is so not the move. Luckily, there are some easy ways to counteract those wily strands and style them seamlessly. Contrary to what you may think, bang styling goes beyond just bringing a flat iron to your front ends. We’re breaking down a few ways to style bangs so you’re left with options when it comes to getting ready for the day. Bang-havers, follow along, and get ready to take notes.

1. How To Style Straight Bangs

@elizabethandreaa_ Lmk which one is your fave 🫶🏼 #bangstutorial#howistylemybangs#curtainbangs#hairbangs♬ original sound - audrey

Before you begin styling your bangs, you want to make sure they’re fully dry. Wet or damp strands are more susceptible to heat damage from any hot tools you’re styling with. Although air drying your bangs post-shower does the trick, blow-drying them proves more effective since you can challenge your bang’s natural shape. Point your blow dryer in a downward direction, then brush out your bangs, side to side, to reel in any flyaways.

To begin styling straight bangs, reach for your flat iron. Start by straightening small sections at a time, moving across your forehead. For each section, guide the flat iron down, then slightly in towards your face to form bangs with body. For the tresses that fall on the outskirts of your bangs, try guiding them up and outwards from your face with the flat iron, for added flair.

2. How To Style Side-Swept Bangs

@cynthiadhimdis Bang Cheat Sheet. Which is your fav? #bangs#blowdry#blowoututorial#HoldMyMilk#blowoutstyles#roundbrushblowout#blowdryerbrush♬ good 4 u - Olivia Rodrigo

Side-swept bangs are the ultimate companion for shags, mullets, and other layered hairstyles – but figuring out how to style them to best suit your personal look can be tricky. Fully straightening them makes your bangs look out of place, especially if your sweeping hairstyle includes wavy or curly textures.

There are two very simple ways to achieve fabulously laid, sweepy bangs. The first is to gather all of your bang hair, and use a flat iron or wide-barrel curler to pull them up from your forehead, and toward the back of your head. By styling them away from your face, your side-swept bangs get some volume that can be set with a light spritz of hairspray. The second method utilizes a flat iron and a similar technique to the first – split your bangs into halves depending on your hair’s part, then flat iron them slightly up and to the respective sides of your head. The result is a wispy side-swept bang style, without major volume.

3. How To Style 90's Bangs

@bellereid_ bang era & im not ever going back !!! #howto#hairtutorial#bangstutorial#90sbangs#90shair#fypage♬ Sure Thing (sped up) - Miguel

There are a few different styles that fall under the 90’s bangs category. Baby bangs, feathered bangs, and curtain bangs were all popular at the time, and we’re seeing them roll around in beauty trends again.

For baby bangs that need to be styled, work on them like you would straight bangs. For this look, a smaller flat iron may be easier to use, since your bangs are smaller. Start at one end of your bangs, then work your way across the forehead to tame any hairs that are running wild.

Feathered bangs are most recognizable for flipped-out ends. They’re essentially side-swept bangs, but you can go as big as you want with them, in true 90’s fashion. To effectively style feathered bangs, roll your blow-dried locks forward over a hair roller – the size you use is up to you, but in our opinion, bigger is better. You can hold some low blow dryer heat over your bangs for a quick styling sesh, or leave the roller in sans heat, while you slay your makeup routine.

Curtain bangs frame the face on both sides, and pair well with practically any hair style and texture. Style curtain bangs with a blow dryer and a wide round brush, drying each side away from your face. Play with curling the ends under for more visual appeal! Once your bangs are where you want them, finish them off with a quick hairspray.

More Tips For Styling Bangs

  • With hair product, less is more. None is better. Using minimal to no product, while keeping your hair clean, will reduce the chance of your bangs looking greasy and falling out of their heat-treated style.
  • Dry shampoo is your BFF for styling bangs because you won’t have to be stuck washing them over your bathroom sink on the daily.
  • Having bangs is a commitment, especially knowing that they’ll grow quicker and their length will become more noticeable than the rest of your locks. To save yourself time and money on hair trims, just pick up some small shears to trim the ends of your bangs whenever you notice they’re poking your eyes too often.

Jessica Simpson and her husband Eric Johnson have decided to go their separate ways. After 10 years of marriage, Jessica revealed on January 13 that they've been "navigating" a "painful situation" that arose in their relationship, three months after sources told TMZ the singer reached out to a divorce attorney. But despite the shift in their relationship status, there's one thing Jessica and Eric are focusing on.

Here's what Jessica Simpson had to say about her split from Eric Johnson.

Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson are "focusing" on their kids amid their split.

Jessica Simpson explained her decision to split from husband, former NFL tight end Eric Johnson, with whom she shares three children: 12-year-old Maxwell Drew, 11-year-old Ace Knute, and 5-year-old Birdie Mae.

"Eric and I have been living separately navigating a painful situation in our marriage," Jessica told People. "Our children come first, and we are focusing on what is best for them. We are grateful for all of the love and support that has been coming our way, and appreciate privacy right now as we work through this as a family."

The popstar celebrated her kids' return to school in September with a super sweet Instagram post. "Maxwell, Ace and Birdie y’all make your Mom beam with smiles and grace !" she says. "Keep on showin’ up for yourselves with each step of the way through this new school year! I’m so very proud of y’all for individually shining your light so that in return others feel the glow."

Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson met in 2010 through a mutual friend, and ended up getting engaged six months after they started dating. They were married in July of 2014, where Maxwell and Ace were the flower girl and ring bearer.

The "I Wanna Love You Forever" singer celebrated their 10th anniversary with an Instagram post in May 2020, saying, "I fell head over slippers in love with this perfect man 10 YEARS ago today! By chance he knocked on my dreamy cottage door (sigh), I let him in and never let him leave. He is mine, I am his…forever."

And the couple's decision to announce their separation comes after Jessica posted about "putting up with everything I did not deserve" and about how "life is short."

"SMILE while you still have teeth," she jokes.

So you've made the big decision: You want to cut your own bangs (go for it, girl!). But by the time you can get a hair appointment with a pro, you've already changed your mind about the style three times… or flat out chickened out. Don't let that wait time mess with your hair goals! Maybe all you need is a push in the DIY direction? So here it is, the tempting tutorial that all you live-life-to-the-fullest girls have been waiting for: The foolproof guide to cutting your own fringe.

Trust us: Once you're prepped with the right tools and techniques, and gotten some cute accessories, the spontaneous self-snipping won't seem as scary. Here's how to take the transformation into your own hands.

How To Cut Bangs: The Tools

Pro Hair Cutting Scissor Set ($23). Grab some pro hair cutting shears, some hair clips, and a hair cutting razor or texturing tool to add texture and style. Now let's bang it out!

How To Cut Bangs: The Instructions

1. Divide your hair into a triangle section measuring from the top center of your head to the outside of your eyebrows. This part will make sure your bangs aren’t too wide and help you avoid giving yourself an unintentional bowlcut look (EEK!). For a heavier bang, start the triangle point further back on the top center of your head. For a thinner bang, start the triangle closer to the center of the front of your head.

2. Clip the side sections of your hair into duckbill clips to avoid accidentally cutting any of these hairs.

3. Take a thin piece from the back of the triangle section of your hair and clip it back with a duckbill clip. You want that out of the way so you can trim your bangs section by section, not all at once — it's key to achieving a straight across cut.

4. Grab one side of the bangs section between your fingers. Holding the scissors vertically, start cutting up from the center of your hair, working your way to the outer edge. Repeat on the other side.

5. Take down the remaining clipped hair and lay it directly over your cut section.

6. Cut the new hair to match your first section. Be careful not to cut into the original section.

…Almost done! Now we must texturize.

7. Quickly flat iron your brand new bangs to make sure there are no flyaway hairs.

8. Pick up super small sections of hair within the bangs and twist them up. Take your razor and gently shave down the outside of the twisted hair. This adds texture which will take your fringe to a new level.

9. Use a product that will help piece out your bangs and keep them styled throughout the day. I recommend Bumble and Bumble's Brilliantine ($22). Use a teeny tiny amount on your fingertips and apply to the points of your bangs.

You did it! Brand new bangs that look totally bangin' ;)

After his breakout role as Spencer Dutton in 1923, and his take on Atlas in Colleen Hoover's viral It Ends With Us(opposite Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni), there's a very good chance you'll recognize Brandon Sklenar. And if not, it won't take long. In addition to his upcoming roles in thrillers The Housemaid and Drop, the actor will lead a brand new biopic about Olympic rowing champion Brad Alan Lewis (which feels very timely considering his Housemaid costar Sydney Sweeney is starring as boxer Christy Martin!).

Here's everything you need to know about Brandon Sklenar's Brad Alan Lewis biopic, The Olympian.

'The Olympian' script has been a favorite since 2016.

Based on Brad Alan Lewis' Assault on Lake Casitas, the movie follows Brad, who has one last opportunity to compete as a rower in the 1984 Olympics before he ages out. But when he loses his spot on the Olympic team, Brad pairs up with fisherman Paul Enquist to go rogue, beating the official Olympic boat in the national trials and winning America its first gold medal in rowing since 1964. Talk about an underdog story!! (Plus 2+ hours watching Brandon row? Yes please).

Despite the fact the movie's never been made, The Olympian script was on The 2016 Black List, an annual list of popular screenplays that have yet to be turned into movies. But it's finally writer-director Tony Tost's time.

And it's the perfect movie to watch before the 2028 Olympics.

It's still super early in the moviemaking process, meaning we don't have too many details, but considering the 2028 Olympics will once again be held in Los Angeles, there's no better time to bring this inspiring true story to the big screen!

We don't have info on The Olympian cast or release date quite yet, but stay tuned for everything you need to know about this new movie.

Next month, you can watch Brandon in 1923 season 2, which hits Paramount+ February 23 and is the "best thing" the actor's ever read.

"The finale of the series is probably one of the best things I’ve read in my life," he told Forbes. "I’ve kind of known how it was going to end since day one — Taylor [Sheridan] kind of told me. I knew the full arc of Spencer from day one, so in shooting part one, you're mindful of where he needs to go. I’m really excited."

Considering I haven't been able to stop talking about this show since I binged all of season 1 in a couple days, I'm really excited too, Brandon.

Thankfully there are quite a few new Brandon Sklenar movies on the horizon. Hoping to see him as Atlas Corrigan again? Here's what he had to say on a potential It Starts With Us movie.
