It's the best of gab, chill time, laughing about our life experiences together and catching up on what's new. Here are 12 amazing adventures to take with your girlfriends to add to your bucket list right now.

Charleston, SC

Charleston is one of the most charming cities and appeals to every kind of traveler, from beach lovers to urban explorers. Dive into city life downtown, where you'll find delicious dining options like French-inspired Felix, Husk (known for its Southern fare), or great-for-brunch Poogan's Porch. Indulge in downtown shopping (there's a whole day's worth here) and relax with a spa treatment at The Charleston Place, also a great place to stay right in the heart of town. Stroll along the charming streets filled with everything from Colonial to Georgian to Classic and Gothic Revival homes, all photo-worthy and jaw-dropping. Enjoy the fresh sea air with early morning or dusk walks along the waterfront to avoid the heat, or take a sunset cruise with a wine toast. Don't miss the chance to visit nearby beaches too, like Sullivan's Island, where celebrities like Reese Witherspoon and Bill Murray reportedly own homes.

Sedona, AZ

Located two hours north from Phoenix, this small town is a destination for those who want a bit of rest and relaxation and a natural spiritual boost. As soon as you arrive in town, you're struck by the intense beauty of the legendary red rock buttes that surround the town. There are forests filled with pine trees, junipers, and cacti, as well as a stunning canyon and peaceful creek. While Sedona is known for its natural beauty, it's also a hotbed of activity. There are hikes, bike rides, wild jeep tours, spa treatments, spiritual readings, and a delicious assortment of restaurants. Check out Mii Amo for an all-inclusive wellness getaway. Here you’ll find 23 casitas with private balconies or patios, in-room kiva fireplaces and soaking tubs, as well as a new restaurant called Hummingbird. The Hummingbird menu includes items like salmon ceviche, duck breast, poulet rouge, and gluten-free and vegan selections. Daily guided meditations and special presentations and ceremonies (examples include a Summer Solstice Ceremony and Canyon Bathing) create an ideal environment to slow down and refocus, and at the Enchantment Resort next door you’ll find additional amenities you can use while exploring the surrounding 400 miles of trails.

Nashville, TN

Drew Hays

Historically, Music City has been mostly known for one thing (music), but in the last few years, the city has been attracting artists of all genres, from chefs to musicians, helping to bolster the city’s reputation as a trendy, must-visit destination. Whether you’re looking to make some sweet music or you’re after another creative endeavor, Nashville’s growing arts and makers scene is hitting all the right notes. Step back in time at Union Station Hotel, a train-station-turned-hotel. The architecture of the early 1900s Romanesque building, the primo location (within walking distance of The Gulch and other nightlife hot spots) and the newly updated modern-meets-historic rooms make this one of the city’s swankiest spots to crash. Enjoy some Southern BBQ at Shotgun Willie’s in East Nashville (top it off with some bourbon banana pudding), shop vintage at the Old Made Good (OMG), which repurposes antiques and thrift-store finds into something extra special; and catch live music at the Bluebird Cafe, where artists like Taylor Swift and Faith Hill had their career-defining moments.

Miami, FL

Jason Briscoe

Miami is a perfect getaway with girlfriends seeking sunshine and nightlife. The award-winning Eden Roc Miami Beach is a solid, oceanfront stay with bright, spacious rooms and multiple pools. The resort is located in Mid Beach so you’re close to all the South Beach buzz, but also far enough to catch a break in a more relaxing environment. For brunch with a side of pool party, book a table at Strawberry Moon, where brunch is served Friday through Sunday in an gorgeous setting. This particular stretch of Miami Beach is the most popular amongst tourists (less so with locals) so you might have some crowds, but it’s worth it to experience quintessential Miami. For a more local experience, head a bit north and pull up your chair at Haulover Beach. Come dinnertime, Española Way is one of the best streets in South Beach. Strolling up and down this pedestrians-only, European-style street, you could easily forget you’re in Miami. Pop into Tropezón for Spanish tapas and creative gin cocktails in an Andalusian-inspired space, then continue the night at M2 or LIV for megaclub vibes, and don’t be surprised if you bump into celebrities at the latter.

Newport, RI

Raul De Los Santos

This seaside town in Rhode Island is home to Gilded Age mansions and some of the best beaches along the east coast. Only one hour from Boston and three hours from New York City (without traffic), Newport is accessible via train or bus from either East Coast capital. Go island hopping to the coves of Jamestown and the diminutive Goat Island, and enjoy the view from the fields of Hammersmith Farm (Jackie Kennedy’s summer home). Another must-do for any first-time traveler to Newport is the Cliff Walk, a walking trail that winds along the coast from First Beach (and the mansions on Bellevue) to the sandy shores of Ocean Drive. When it comes to Newport nightlife, there’s one spot that’s the center of it all: Clarke Cooke House, a three-story bar that includes a midlevel for open-air cocktails, a raw bar, and live music, while the basement plays host to an underground nightclub. For food: Flo’s Clam Shack, next to First Beach, is iconic for its quahogs and fried seafood and Newport Creamery is a local go-to for ice cream. Also, a sunset sail is sure to appeal to rosé aficionados.

Canyon Ranch, CA

Canyon Ranch

Secluded within 16 acres of majestic redwoods in Northern California is the all-inclusive Canyon Ranch Woodside. There are additional locations in Tucson, Lenox (outside of Boston), and Las Vegas. If you find forest bathing appealing, this is the ideal wellness getaway for you. Stay in one of 24 luxe treehouse rooms that peek through the forest, to ropes courses and guided meditations that take place under the magnificent canopy. Locally sourced dining menus are served al fresco or in a cozy dining room and include afternoon tapas, colorful salads, and fresh salmon. Each day, Canyon Ranch offers dozens of mind-body activities including hiking, kayaking, mountain biking, dancing, and free-flow abstract painting. Upcoming summer wellness presentations and workshops focus on themes such as “Wisdom of the Horse and Herd” equine therapy; “Activating Your Empathy and Intuition”; and “Find Your Purpose.” Spa treatments include Forest Aromatherapy Treatment and Hiker’s Retreat, designed to perk up your feet after a strenuous hike.

Arches National Park, Utah

Wouter de Jong

More than 2,000 natural stone arches make Arches National Park a special place in Utah. Travelers from around the world come to see the rare colored formations and brilliant sunsets that light up the sky each night. Hikers and rock climbers will love the endless options for exploring, while more low-key visitors are sure to dig the camping (don’t miss Devil’s Garden!), photo ops and ranger-led nature walks. Bring a bike or car to see as much of the 18-mile scenic road as you can or to journey to the nearby Canyonlands National Park or Dead Horse Point State Park. If you don’t want to stay inside one of the national parks, plan to book a hotel or Airbnb in Moab — it’s just four miles away and has tasty restaurants and some seriously cool shops.

Aveedibya Dey

Chicago has one of the best city vibes that blends Midwestern friendliness with big-city sophistication. Take in scenic river walks and hop on an architecture river cruise to get a lay of the land. Shop the Magnificent Mile, Wicker Park’s trendy boutiques and Fulton Market. Art lovers will fawn over The Art Institute of Chicago, and Second City comedy shows make for a fun night out. Santa Fe, NM

Shutterstock

B+C founder Brit Morin recently hosted a girls trip to Santa Fe, and it was the perfect weekend for her creative friends. They started the trip with a photography class at Santa Fe Photographic Workshops and explored the city behind the lens. They stayed at the Inn of the Five Graces — think maximalist style and comfort with a Santa Fe twist. Ofc, you cannot visit Santa Fe without a stop at the Georgia O’Keefe’s Home at Ghost Ranch. Some of Brit's personal highlights: Soaking in the Japanese-inspired tubs at Ten Thousand Waves spa and shooting cowboy photos at Mortenson’s Ranch where celebs like Tom Hanks have filmed movies. "We packed in quite an adventure taking in the art, color, food and natural beauty of the city, all while upping our Instagram game. I cannot wait to go back," she said.

Sonoma, CA

Sonoma County Tourism | Bartholomew Estate Winery

My favorite place to live is also my favorite place for people to come visit! Sonoma is Napa Valley's charming cousin, but a little more laid back with walk-in wineries and delicious eateries that don't require a months-in-advance reservation. The Lodge at Sonoma is one of my favorite spa experiences with private warm pool and sauna area, plus cozy private reading areas before you get your treatment. MacArthur Hotel is another favorite with their outdoor restaurant Layla, that is stunning in design and perfect for a leisurely lunch. The Fairmont Mission Inn & Spa is another must on my visitor list — cozy outdoor firepits are perfect for grabbing a bite to eat and a glass of wine (Friday nights they have live music and food trucks in the summer). All of the above can be a bit pricey for an overnight but you can definitely take advantage of their amenities without an overnight stay. Take a bike ride along the Sonoma bike path, which cuts straight to the town square for shopping and eating (Sunflower Caffe has a darling garden in the back) and Valley Bar and Bottle offers inventive California cuisine that's sourced locally and so delicious in an outdoor setting. The bike path leads to two Sonoma wineries — Bartholomew Estate Winery, where you can do a short hike into the oak grove of the winery or grab a bottle and a picnic table in the park and California's first winery, Buena Vista Winery, built in 1857. Cheers!

A recent Gallup pollshowed that fewer than half of Americans are “very satisfied” with their life choices. Where you live, it turns out, has a lot to do with your overall life satisfaction: the community you have, the quality of life you experience, and your physical and emotional health and safety. Personal finance website, WalletHub released its report on the Happiest Cities in America in 2024 to find the places where people experience the highest life satisfaction and the results are surprising.

“Meaningful relationships and social connections are perhaps the most important ingredients for a happy life, according to an 85-year-long study recently published by Harvard researchers Waldinger and Schulz (2022)," says Buffie Longmire-Avital, Ph.D., a professor at Elon University. “High-quality relationships stand out as important predictors of individuals' happiness. Having rewarding interactions with people whom you value and who value you may provide the support, comfort, laughter, and intimacy that elevate individuals' happiness.”

Jess Loiterton

WalletHub first compared the 50 states across 30 key indicators of happiness, with a date set that ranged from the depression rate and the share of adults feeling productive to income growth and the unemployment rate. Hawaii has the lowest share of adult depression, which is 2.3 times lower than in Tennessee, the state with the highest. New Jersey has the fewest suicides (per 100,000 residents), which is 3.7 times fewer than in Montana, the state with the most. Utah has the highest volunteer rate, which is 2.6 times higher than in Florida, the state where the rate is the lowest. Volunteerism is another way people find purpose and joy in life.

William Bout

In order to determine the happiest cities in America, WalletHub compared 182 of the largest cities — including the 150 most populated U.S. cities — across three key areas:

  • Emotional & Physical Well-Being
  • Income & Employment
  • Community & Environment

Priscilla Du Preez

“When individuals have a high sense of community...well-being increases, and stress, anxiety, and depression decrease. Neighborhoods with high walkability scores that are also safe and near things like parks or trails help sustain our physical and mental health, which are key factors in determining happiness,” adds Dr. Longmire-Avital.

Here are the top 20 happiest U.S. cities, many of which score high on the nature and family-friendly aspect. Ready for a new start or planning local travel this season? Check them out!

Fremont, CA

Shutterstock

According to the WalletHub report, Fremont, CA, located in the San Francisco Bay Area, is the happiest city in America, and one reason why is income: the city has the highest share of households with an income above $75,000, at nearly 80 percent. Studies have shown that increasing your income also increases your happiness up to $75,000 (but not beyond). With a rich history tied to the California Gold Rush, Fremont has evolved into a hub for the tech industry, including Tesla's Fremont Factory. The city offers excellent schools, a wide range of cultural experiences, and outdoor spaces like Mission Peak. People in Fremont also have a high rate of life satisfaction, a low depression rate, and a long lifespan on average. It also has the lowest share of adults who report having mentally unhealthy days, so people in the city seem to be doing the self care needed to keep themselves happy.

Overland Park, KS

Visit Overland Park

Overland Park, KS, has earned its spot as the second-happiest city in the U.S., thanks to several key factors that contribute to its residents' well-being. With the lowest poverty rate in the nation at just 4.2 percent and an impressively low unemployment rate of 3 percent, it's clear that financial stability plays a huge role in their happiness. The city also boasts one of the lowest food insecurity rates, meaning more families have what they need to thrive. Residents of Overland Park also enjoy a lot of leisure time each week, which many spend participating in sports — one of the top ways to stay emotionally and physically healthy. Overland Park boasts a rich cultural scene, including the Overland Park Arboretum and Botanical Gardens, the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art, and a variety of dining and shopping options. People in Overland Park tend to get more sleep than those in most other cities, a crucial factor for maintaining a positive mindset.

San Jose, CA

Josh Sorenson

Not far from Fremont is the third-happiest city: San Jose, CA, in the heart of Silicon Valley and home to tech giants like Adobe and eBay. The city has the longest average life expectancy in the country. It also has one of the lowest separation and divorce rates and scores the best on the health and wellness company Sharecare’s Community Well-Being Index, which measures how much residents like where they live, feel safe and have pride in their community. It also scores extremely well on Sharecare’s Life-Satisfaction Index, which measures people’s health risks based on various physical, financial and social factors.

Sometimes the skincare world can seem a bit daunting and overwhelming. There are soooo many different products with so many people trying to sell them with promises that it will "change your skin for life." And while that might be the case occasionally, it's often not.

But what are the products you can actually trust? I like to shop smarter by actually looking at the ingredients first — and one ingredient I know can really works wonders when it comes to fine lines and wrinkles is retinol. And while, I know that this is a trusted ingredient, I need to do some research into it. Which is exactly what I did when speaking to Dr. Hannah Kopelman, a dermatologist at Kopelman Aesthetic Surgery. She gave me a full breakdown of what retinol really is and the best retinol products you can actually trust. So without further ado, let's get into it!

What is retinol?

Andrea Piacquadio

Retinol is a powerful ingredient that can help target fine lines and wrinkles! When talking to Dr. Kopelman, she explained that it's a derivative of vitamin A, one of the most effective ingredients in skincare for promoting cell turnover, boosting collagen production, and improving skin texture.

It's an ingredient that is incredibly powerful, so you want to make sure you start off slow, using it every other night or every two nights to start, and build up your tolerance. Dr. Kopelman says it's best to start with a lower concentration if you're new to retinol to avoid irritation!

What are the benefits of retinol?

cottonbro studio

Retinol can have so many benefits from helping with: fine lines, wrinkles, discoloration, uneven skin tone, skin texture, and more! Dr. Kopelman says that it's ability to reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and even out skin tone makes it a go-to in anti-aging routines. It also helps in clearing acne by keeping pores unclogged, making it beneficial for a wide range of skin concerns. As a dermatologist, Dr. Kopelman says that she often recommends retinol serums to patients who are looking to maintain or achieve younger-looking skin.

After the ABC News presidential debate, Taylor Swift formally endorsed Kamala Harris and Tim Walz on Instagram. Swift has slowly, but surely, crept her way into more and more political involvement over the years, with her endorsements only getting bigger and bolder. Here’s what she had to say!

The beloved international pop star posted an image of herself and her adorable cat, Benjamin Button, to tell her audience about the importance of voter registration — and ultimately truth in an election. This call for truth follows images that circled the internet, exhibiting Taylor Swift fans — some real women, and some AI-generated — endorsing Donald Trump. One image features a shirt with a depiction of Swift with an Uncle Sam-esque look that reads, "Taylor Swift wants you to vote for Donald Trump!" The former President even shared these images on Truth Social, posting, "I accept!"

After addressing the Donald Trump-supporting AI-generated elephant in the room, she said, “The simplest way to combat misinformation is the truth. I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election.”

Kate Green/Getty Images

Swift went on to describe that Harris “fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them.” She explained that she sees Harris as a “steady, gifted leader” who will ultimately help the country accomplish more through “calm and not chaos.”

The Grammy winner then talked about Vice Presidential candidate, Governor Tim Walz, noting that she was “heartened and impressed” by his selection for the ticket. She continued by praising how Walz “has been standing up for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and a woman’s right to her own body for decades.”

Swift closed out her statement, saying that she’s done her research and made a choice, and encouraging her audience to do the same. She highlighted the fact that first-time voters need to remember to register soon, and that she finds “it’s actually much easier to vote early.” With a callout to go to her link in bio for more voter resources, she signed her post in the only way she could: “Taylor Swift, Childless Cat Lady.”

The sign-off is in reference to a comment made by Republican Vice Presidential Candidate, Senator JD Vance. Vance previously alleged that the country was being run by “a bunch of childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives and the choices that they've made and so they want to make the rest of the country miserable, too.”

One thing we know about Miss Taylor Swift? You don’t wanna mess with her or her three cats.

Netflix

This massive political move comes five years after Swift’s Netflix documentary, Miss Americana — a film that followed her life post-Reputation and pre-Lover, but essentially acted as a “coming out” documentary for being a Democrat. In the documentary, she stressed to her family and team that she didn’t want to sit idly by while people’s rights are on the line. She said, “If you can just shift the power in your direction by being bold enough, then it won’t be like this forever.”

www.instagram.com

Since then, she's endorsed Democratic State Senate hopeful, Phil Bredesen, and House of Representatives candidate, Jim Cooper, in the 2018 Tennessee elections. In her endorsement post, Swift explained that Bredesen's opponent, Marsha Blackburn, was a big concern for her. She wrote, "Her voting record in Congress appalls and terrifies me. She voted against equal pay for women. She voted against the Re-authorization of the Violence Against Women Act, which attempts to protect women from domestic violence, stalking, and date rape." Swift continued, "She believes businesses have a right to refuse service to gay couples. She also believes they should not have the right to marry. These are not MY Tennessee values."

And while she noted her own political beliefs, Swift was sure to also remind folks that registering to vote is very important, no matter what!

www.instagram.com

Though her efforts in Tennessee didn't turn out the way Swift wished, that didn't stop her from remaining politically involved. In the 2020 election, Swift took this a step further to endorse Joe Biden and Kamala Harris on Twitter and in V Magazine. In the article, Swift expressed concern for a woman's right to choose, the LGBTQIA+ community, people of color, global and health. This all came on the heels of the 2020 COVID pandemic and sweeping Black Lives Matter movement. She said, “I will proudly vote for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris in this year’s presidential election. Under their leadership, I believe America has a chance to start the healing process it so desperately needs.”

And now her efforts continue for the 2024 general election. Swift's Instagram post has 8 million likes — and counting! — so far. Plus, since this post, a study conducted found that Swift gained over 165,000 followers on the platform. While not every single one of these Instagram users may be eligible U.S. voters, it does show the incredible influence Taylor Swift is able to wield at any given moment.

Ultimately, this Taylor Swift fan is just happy to see her able to express her opinions more freely, time after time.

Read Taylor Swift's Full Statement Here:

"Like many of you, I watched the debate tonight. If you haven’t already, now is a great time to do your research on the issues at hand and the stances these candidates take on the topics that matter to you the most. As a voter, I make sure to watch and read everything I can about their proposed policies and plans for this country.

Recently I was made aware that AI of ‘me’ falsely endorsing Donald Trump’s presidential run was posted to his site. It really conjured up my fears around AI, and the dangers of spreading misinformation. It brought me to the conclusion that I need to be very transparent about my actual plans for this election as a voter. The simplest way to combat misinformation is with the truth.

I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election. I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them. I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos. I was so heartened and impressed by her selection of running mate @timwalz, who has been standing up for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and a woman’s right to her own body for decades.

I’ve done my research, and I’ve made my choice. Your research is all yours to do, and the choice is yours to make. I also want to say, especially to first time voters: Remember that in order to vote, you have to be registered! I also find it’s much easier to vote early. I’ll link where to register and find early voting dates and info in my story.

With love and hope,

Taylor Swift
Childless Cat Lady"

But, who wants to pay $80 for a dress? The cost has honestly kept me from adding that cozy little number to my cart.

LUCKILY, this bodycon dress has a 4.5 rating on Amazon and only costs $30! You'll get the same effect as the dress above without the shocking price. Both dresses are made out of over 90% modal fabric, with only a little bit of added spandex for stretch, so you're getting virtual the same exact experience for much less.

Nordstrom

Stretch Cotton Rib Leggings ($56)

I talked about these leggings before, but I can't help but mention them again. Although I just complained about paying $58 for a dress, I gladly purchased these for my postpartum body. They're incredibly soft and have a nice stretch that doesn't feel like they're cutting off my circulation.

Amazon

Casual Work Out Set ($20)

But, you can buy this cute workout set that features the cropped tank top and matching leggings that are similar to what SKIMS has on-site! The biggest difference is that the Amazon leggings are made of mostly polyester, whereas the SKIMS leggings are mostly cotton. That means the SKIMS pair will likely be more breathable and less likely to snag or pill. Still, this is a great deal for more than half the price.

SKIMS

Nordstrom

Outdoor Midi Thigh Bodysuit ($80)

I technically refer to this as a romper, but that's neither here nor there! This bodysuit replaced my maternity body shapewear once I realized I'd gone up a few sizes, and it's been in my closet ever since.

It does have a snug fit, so you may want to go up a size to get a little more room.

Amazon

Amazon

Yoga Workout Romper ($15)

Frankly, this workout romper fits better thank the SKIMS option, IMO — and it's nowhere near $80. In my experience, the bodysuit is true-to-size, unlike its SKIMS counterpart, which was definitely an added bonus.

It could be me, but the nylon and spandex blend seems to feel better on my skin too! That being said, this option doesn't have any cotton in the blend, so it may not be as breathable.

SKIMS

Nordstrrom

Soft Lounge Mock Neck Dress ($92)

Similar to SKIMS' bestselling tank dress, this option is just too good for fall! It has the same amazing slinky texture that customers love, and it can easily be worn to lounge around at home, or dressed up for an evening out! I can totally picture it with a leather jacket and some black tall boots!

Amazon

Amazon

Casual Mock Turtleneck Dress ($20)

But you don't need to spend $92 to get the look. Though the color options are different, both dresses are made of mostly modal fabric (with some spandex for stretch). Customers love this dress because it's "super comfortable" and is made of "great quality."

I'm not against buying anything from SKIMS — like I said, I have plenty of times before — but I think it's okay to buy dupes when you're on a budget! Based on my personal experience, I can barely tell the difference between my SKIMS and Amazon pieces, so that should say a lot!
