These Are the Top 25 Jobs in America

Daydreaming of a better job or think you have the best job ever? Now you can get some reassurance (or a buzzkill) thanks to Glassdoor. The career community site recently released its annual list of the 25 best jobs in America. It’s time to find out if you need to freshen up that resumé or kick back and thrive where you are.

On the “25 Best Jobs in America 2015” list you’ll find roles (primarily in tech + healthcare) that rated the best on Glassdoor’s Job Score. This is determined through three factors: earning potential based on average annual base salary, career opportunities rating and the number of job openings. Noticeably absent from the score criteria are specifics like the actual company/employee reviews, benefits, bonuses, equity, culture, etc but we’ll let them slide for now ;)

The 25 jobs, ranging from various engineer paths to physical therapists and data scientists, all rank above 4.0 out of 5 on the Glassdoor Job Score scale. Engineers, raise your hand if you asked for a raise after this list was released. Take a look at the best of the best below.

1. Physician Assistant: With more than 45,000 job openings throughout the country and an average base salary of $111,000, it’s no surprise PAs are a top-ranking job in the US at the moment.

2. Software Engineer: All kinds of engineers are currently in high demand due to all things tech taking over all parts of our lives. Ranking as the number one engineer role are those dealing with software, as the average starting salary is close to six figures. There are nearly 105,000 opportunities out there, engineers — snatch ’em up. Or, get started learning how to code.

3. Business Development Manager: While there aren’t nearly as many job openings for this role (a little over 11,500), the base salary is good — just under $95,000 — and the career opportunities rating is high at 3.5, making these positions covetable.

4. Human Resources Manager: Those looking to get into the recruiting field, you’re in luck as there are more than 8,000 openings across the US waiting for you. Bonus perk: the salary starts at $96,000 with many offering signing bonuses for new hires.

5. Finance Manager: Playing with your company’s money (and keeping them afloat) can be a good thing for your personal bank account, as this role earns the title of top base salary on the list at nearly $123,000. With more than 9,700 openings out there, it just may be time for you to make the move to finance.

6. Marketing Manager: Study communications in college? Why not try your hand at marketing, as there are almost 15,000 opportunities with a base salary of $100,000. Cha-ching!

7. Database Administrator: If you’re into IT, it’s time to step into a role like this one. With about 9,800 openings out there and a base salary just shy of $100,000, you’re sure to be satisfied with this job.

8. Product Manager: Thanks to the tech boom, PMs are in high demand — there are about 10,300 opportunities currently and more growing with each app, site and social network that launches. Not only will you hold an important role in an organization, but you’ll also be scoring a sweet base salary: $113,000.

9. Data Scientist: Again, thanks to the tech industry, this role is surging with about 3,500 openings and a base salary of $105,000. Get to applying, data scientists.

10. Sales Manager: While the base salary of a sales manager may not be as high as the tech industry roles at $76,600, the commissions you’d make could far exceed the average salary for all the jobs that made it onto this list. So get to selling yourself and your company.

Find the full list on Glassdoor’s blog. Now that we know the best jobs in America, we’re super curious as to which are the worst. Any guesses?

Probably everyone would agree that "adulting" is challenging, but nothing is quite as tough as initially launching your career. You're new to the field and uncomfortable, so you're bound to have some awkward moments, missteps, or simply embarrassing situations.

Thankfully, these bumps in the road teach us lessons that we can grow from. Nonetheless, it can still be funny to reflect (and laugh) about those cringe-worthy experiences down the line.

So, a bunch of women recently took to Reddit to share some of the most embarrassing things they did during the early days of their careers, and we've compiled their best stories.

Scroll to see all the most embarrassing things these women admitted to doing at work!

1. She thought a colleague was flirting. Spoiler alert: he wasn't.

Viktoria Slowikowska

"I was new to my role and attending a networking event out of state, lobbying for the first time. I thought one of the commissioners was flirting with me, so I stupidly considered leveraging that. I even gave him my hotel card, but he never came," one user said.

2. She spilled hundreds of hardware pieces down a hill.

cottonbro studio

"It was my first day with a new theater company as their master carpenter. Our shop was multiple buildings away from the theater, and we had to haul our tools and hardware over in shopping carts," a user recalled.

"I tipped over the shopping cart with all the containers of screws, bolts, and so on. Hundreds of little bits of hardware, all down the side of a hill."

3. She accidentally said "love you" to her team.

Edmond Dantès

"I was multitasking on a call and, in the end, when everyone said goodbye, I blurted out, 'Bye, love you!' to the entire team. I was humiliated," another user detailed.

4. She accidentally messaged her own boss about her lackluster raise.

Anna Shvets

"I was working in customer service, and I asked my supervisor for a raise because I was 'error free' and my call time states were pretty good. I had told my coworker (we were both in our early twenties) that I had asked for the raise, too. We were very open about our salaries," remembered one user.

"A couple of weeks later, my supervisor called me over to her cubicle. I sent an IM [instant message] to my coworker and said, 'Supervisor wants to talk to me. Called me over to her desk. I think I got the raise!' Spoiler: I did. It was just like $0.75 an hour or something dumb, but still, I was happy to get a raise," she continued.

"Immediately after, I messaged my coworker again and said something like, 'Yep, I got the raise. It's not as much as I would have liked, but oh well." I sent this to my supervisor and not my coworker. I heard my supervisor laugh and immediately go talk to the manager. I was so embarrassed."

5. She had a bucket of water dumped on her.

cottonbro studio

"Something that happened to me years ago: a woman dropped a bucket of rainwater on my head," revealed a user.

"She wasn't looking down; she meant to do it to one of my coworkers who used to leave trash by her door. She apologized, but still."

6. She fell off her chair (in front of her supervisor).

MART PRODUCTION

"I was working at a park district part-time and I sat at the front desk. One day, I got up to get something from another room. I come back, sit on my chair, and lean back," one user explained.

"I guess I leaned too far back, so I ended up falling on my tailbone. My supervisor was right there. I was like a couple of weeks in, too."

7. She made up her own phonetic alphabet.

Keira Burton

"I was trying to say the phonetic alphabet for a follow-up claim. I had the letter 'Y,' and the only word I could think of was, 'Yam!'" a user said.

"I laugh about it now, and I made the IT guy laugh, so win-win? But I definitely embarrassed myself at the moment."

8. She hit "reply all" while calling someone a jerk.

Mikael Blomkvist

"I hit 'reply all' in an email calling someone out for being a jerk. Ten years later, it's a department inside joke," a final user admitted.

Ever since Yellowstone debuted in 2018, this drama series has captivated audiences with its high-stakes drama, beautiful Montana scenery, and powerhouse performances — especially from Kevin Costner, who plays John Dutton.

Over five seasons, the show has delivered a balanced blend of Western grit, family betrayal, and political maneuvering, giving way to countless unforgettable moments. Here are the top 10 times Yellowstone reigned supreme as the most gripping drama on television.

Scroll to see our all-time favorite Yellowstonemoments!

1. The Death of Lee

Paramount

Lee Dutton's death in the show's powerful 2018 premiere set the stage for the entire series, sparking the Dutton family's ongoing battles over land, loyalty, and legacy.

As the eldest son, Lee was poised to inherit the ranch, but his life was cut short after he was killed by Robert Long, Monica's brother.

2. Beth & Jamie's Hatred Holding Them Together

Paramount

Beth and Jamie, who were sworn enemies, shared a twisted yet oddly tender moment in Season 1 Episode 5. During a tense car ride, Beth accuses Jamie of never truly experiencing loss and then takes things to a disturbing level by threatening to shoot herself.

Jamie assumed she was bluffing until Beth actually pulled the trigger. Spoiler alert: she missed and was left in tears. At that point, Jamie told her, "If hating me keeps you from hating yourself, I'll be that for you."

3. Jamie's Banned From The Ranch

Paramount

John's frustration with Jamie reaches its breaking point during the Season 1 finale, and when Jamie refuses to back out of the Attorney General race, John lashes out (literally).

He punches Jamie in the face and forbids him from Yellowstone until he learns to prioritize the family over his own ambitions.

4. Kayce's War Revelation

Paramount

Viewers got a heartbreaking glimpse into Kayce's past as a Navy SEAL in Season 2, Episode 5. While talking to John, he recalls a devastating moment from his time in Pakistan.

A warlord used his own wife and child as human shields while opening fire on Kayce's team. Kayce was faced with an impossible decision and chose to eliminate the threat to protect his men. In other words, taking out the whole family.

"Soldiers don't tell war stories anymore, Dad, because war stories these days, it's just about trying to live through them," Kayce told John.

5. When Rip Saved Beth

Paramount

During Season 2, Episode 7, Beth found herself in one of the most harrowing moments of the series when Malcolm Bech's men invaded her office. They murdered her assistant and savagely beat her.

Yet, just when all seemed lost, Rip stormed in, smashed through a glass divider, and took down the attackers. Amid the chaos, Beth was obviously shaken, and in that raw moment, Rip looked at her and claimed he loved her.

6. The Season 3 Finale

Paramount

The final episode of Season 3 was not one for the faint-hearted. "Yellowstone" fans watched as Beth's office was blown apart, Kayce found himself caught in a deadly shootout, and John was gunned down while trying to help a stranded woman on the side of the road.

Thankfully, they all survived, but viewers spent an agonizing year wondering if the family would make it out alive.

7. Mutual Respect Bridging Different Backgrounds

Paramount

In a poignant Season 4, Episode 1 moment, a Native American man arrives on James Dutton's land to bury his father, and the encounter between James and the Indigenous visitors is sorrowful and mutually respectful.

Despite their different backgrounds, there's an unspoken understanding between them, highlighting deep historical ties between the land's original inhabitants and those who later claimed it.

8. Beth, Monica, And The Boutique

Paramount

Fans watched Monica and Beth have an unexpected bonding moment during Season 2, Episode 9. Monica was racially profiled by a boutique saleswoman and falsely accused of theft. This prompted the police to search her, and Beth didn't hesitate to step in.

She fiercely defended Monica, her sister-in-law. This scene underscored the stark contrast between Monica's reality and the privilege other Dutton women have.

9. Jamie Commits Patricide

Paramount

Beth discovered that Jamie's biological father, Garrett Randall, was behind the attempts on the Duttons' lives during the Season 4 finale. She confronts her brother and gives him three options.

More specifically, Jamie could turn Garrett in for attempted murder, let Rip handle it, or kill Randall personally. Jamie opts to kill his father.

10. Monica Loses Her Baby

Paramount

Finally, Season 5 began with a devastating loss. Pregnant Monica was at home preparing to give birth while Kayce was away for work. He sent an ambulance for her, but she rushed to the hospital with Tate by her side.

As her contractions intensified, Monica struggled to keep control of her car, and she wound up getting into a violent crash. She tragically lost her baby, a son they had named John.

Ask anyone who knows me and they'll tell you I'm consumed with fashion, but you know what makes me want to burn things down to the ground? It's trying to find pants or jeans that flatter my petite height. For reasons beyond my control, I'm in the 5'2" club which makes finding short girl-friendly clothes harder than it needs to be, ugh!

From boot-cut to skinny jeans, I'm picky about what I buy because I've been known to look like a tiny, angry chipmunk who's been forced to wear something against her will. Chipmunks are cute, but I'm sure they wouldn't want to wear anything ill-fitting and I'm sure you feel the same!

Keep scrolling to find the best petite jeans that anyone 5'3" and under can confidently wear!

Madewell

Madewell Petite Superwide-Leg Jeans

As a former wearer of skinny jeans, I've been on the wide-leg train for a while. They're roomier IMO and give me reassurance that I won't unnecessarily rip a seam when bending down. Particularly, I live in this pair by Madewell. They're the perfect wash and elongate my frame!

Style tip: I usually wear ankle strap pump heels with them for an elevated look!

J.Crew Factory

J.Crew Factory Wide-Leg Crop Jean

I don't wear cropped jeans often, but J. Crew encouraged me to take a risk with this pair. The waist area reminds me of Madewell's Superwide-Leg design, but distressed hem makes them look less stuffy. I've purchased ankle jeans before and the fit was terrible so I was pleasantly surprised at how great these look on me!

Express

Express High Waisted Light Wash Jeans

These light wash jeans are also cropped, but the hem is more straight-forward than J. Crew's version. I usually wear this pair when my household has doctor's or dentist's appointments because they have an air of comfortability about them. When you're on the go, it's important to be able to move around when you need to!

Banana Republic Factory

Banana Republic Factory Mid-Rise Straighter Carpenter Jeans (Petite)

The first thing that drew me to these jeans are their Ecru color. The second is how well they fit when I tried them on in-store. Lengthwise, they stop slightly below my ankles which is good when I actually want to show off my shoes. Sometimes I don't want to go for the oversized wide-leg look so these are always a good alternative for me.

Pistola

Pistola Petite Lana High Rise Wide Leg Jeans

It's true — I'm preoccupied with this style of jeans. Aside from Madewell, Pistola has the best feeling denim I've had the pleasure of wearing. This pair specifically doesn't feel stiff, but they don't get wrinkled either! Also, the hem doesn't drag the ground which is a nice change from the pairs I own that do this.

Good American

Good American Petite Skate Jeans

Here's the thing — skate jeans were popular when I was in middle school. A few of my former friends used to wear them with Vans so I'll always have a soft spot for them. The only thing I don't recommend doing is wearing them on rainy days because that wet feeling on your ankles feels weird.

Ann Taylor

Ann Taylor Petite Cuffed Palazzo Jean

I never knew the words "cuffed" and "palazzo" could fit in the same sentence, but Ann Taylor's made me a believer. These jeans take business casual to the next level because of their darker wash and overall fit. They're not too "skinny" or "wide," giving you the perfect invitation to wear a slightly oversized blazer with them. At least that's what I do.

Talbots

Talbots Everyday Relaxed Jeans (Plus-Sized Petite)

I'm not necessarily plus-sized but I added these relaxed jeans because one of my friends can't stop raving about them! She doesn't necessarily love the wide-leg look so having something that fits her frame and is easy to style works with however she feels like dressing on any given day.

Citizens of Humanity

Citizens of Humanity Petite Micro Relaxed Jeans

Are they relaxed or barrel jeans? It truly depends on how you want to classify them. According to Citizens of Humanity, they're the petite jeans everyone needs in their closet. Okay, I'm imagining that was the general consensus when they were designed.

Anthropologie

Pilcro Kenna Mid-Rise Barrel Jeans

These are definitely barrel jeans and I love them! I tried a pair from a different brand last year and couldn't stand the way they looked on me, but Pilcro gets it right! The wash also has a very earthy tone to it, making it a good complement to brown, taupe, and cream tones!

Reiss

Reiss Petite Skinny Jeans

Did you think I'd really leave skinny jeans off this list? I'm appalled! Jokes aside, I'm not against wearing them and found that I have specific requirements for the leg huggers. They have to look streamlined and can't make me feel like I have to peel them off my skin so I can breathe. It just so happens this pair understands the assignment.

L'AGENCE

L'AGENCE Leighton Cropped Stovepipe Jeans

What has cute red seams with a cuffed and cropped hem? L'AGENCE's pair of stovepipe jeans. They make me feel like I'm reliving the pair Olivia Newton-John wore in the original Grease so I try to slip into them when I'm feeling a little edgy.

P.S. Do you see the the slightly curved waistline??

Love can often feel like an emotional rollercoaster, and whether we like to admit it or not, our own habits and tendencies can have serious impacts on our relationships.

Astrology offers some insight into our personalities and suggests that certain zodiac signs are more likely to break hearts than others.

Here are eight zodiac signs that can leave even the most level-headed person wondering where it all went wrong.

Scroll to find out which zodiac signs are most-likely to break hearts...

1. Gemini

Brit + Co

Geminis can be hard to pin down. Their affection may seem like a flickering light that's constantly on and off. One day, they're seemingly all over you, but then, 24 hours later, they're distant and cold.

To steer clear of heartbreak, be on the lookout for early warning signs. Geminis can be fun and exciting, but their tendency to change their mind or pull away at random means they're not always the best choice for someone who wants emotional consistency. Keep your emotional guard up, listen to your gut, and be wary if they show indicators of detachment.

2. Aquarius

Brit + Co

Aquarians can be some of the most confusing people to love. They may make you feel like you're the center of their world until they start blatantly flirting with other people right in front of you.

True emotional commitment can be difficult for this sign, and when an Aquarian does decide to end things, it's sometimes in a condescending way.

So, they may not be the best choice if you're looking for a grounded, emotionally available partner. Watch out for signs that they're prioritizing their independence over your relationship, and protect yourself by keeping things light in the early stages.

3. Sagittarius

Brit + Co

Independent, adventurous, and driven: that's the Sagittarian reputation. While these are admirable traits in some scenarios, they can also make this sign feel selfish in relationships.

Their desire for personal freedom often comes first, and if your needs don't align with their plans, they probably won't stick around. That's why they're not ideal partners for people who value emotional commitment.

Be cautious if you're seeing a Sagittarian who is more focused on their personal endeavors than building a real partnership. And if you notice they're dismissive of your needs, it may be time to take a step back.

4. Capricorn

Brit + Co

Somewhat similar to Sagittarius, Capricorns are all about self-preservation and their own success. They don't appreciate anything that stands in the way of their goals, and if your vision of a relationship doesn't match theirs, they won't hesitate to walk away without a second thought.

Keep an eye out for Capricorns' rigid expectations. If they're unwilling to compromise on issues or are quick to end things at the first sign of conflict, take it as a red flag.

5. Aries

Brit + Co

Aries have fiery passion and an impulsive nature. They can fall head over heels quickly, but they also fall out of love just as fast.

Once they decide they're done with your relationship, it can feel like the rug has been pulled out from under you. They won't waste time explaining their decision, leaving you confused.

Emotional inconsistency and impulsivity are two big warning signs for relationships. Trust your intuition because you don't want to invest too much into a relationship that could end just as suddenly as it started.

6. Pisces

Brit + Co

When a Pisces is into you, they can be super loving and charming. But, at the drop of a hat, their behavior can take a sharp turn.

Their biggest issue is that they tend to avoid taking accountability and may play the victim when things go wrong. That can cause you to second-guess yourself and wonder if you were really at fault.

Pay attention to any signs of emotional manipulation, gaslighting, or self-pity when conflicts arise. If this sign refuses to apologize or tries to make you feel guilty for their actions, it's a no-go.

7. Leo

Brit + Co

Leos love being the center of attention, and when they're interested in you, they'll bring you into the spotlight with them. Yet, once their attention shifts elsewhere, you may be kicked to the curb.

This sign's need for admiration and dominance can lead them to disregard your needs after they've lost interest. Talk about taking a self-esteem hit!

If you realize that you're constantly vying for this sign's validation or feel as though you're being overshadowed by their ego, it's a cue they might not be able to give you the emotional support you need.

8. Taurus

Brit + Co

Finally, while Tauruses can be incredibly loving, they may turn ruthless and cold when they decide they're finished with you. This sign is also known for being stubborn, so once they've made up their mind, it can be nearly impossible to change.

So, they aren't great at compromising or seeing things from others' perspectives. Red flags to watch out for include Tauruses holding grudges and becoming overly defensive. And if they're not open to working through issues, it might be time to move on.
