When looking for a full-time job, do company benefits like sick leave, paid vacation and maternity benefits come to mind? They should. With more and more of us moving into industries that used to be more male driven, it’s a question not enough of us are asking. Consider this: If you plan on having kids, you should already be looking at industries and companies that offer decent benefits for maternity leave along with your regular medical and dental coverage.
The good news, however, is that you won’t have to look very far. Job website Glassdoor released its list of 2016’s top employee benefits by company, and it’s clear that the tech industry takes the lead for those of us interested in a great benefits package to go along with our salaries.
So who snagged the number one spot? With its one year paid maternity AND paternity benefits (for moms OR dads), flexible work schedule and extra days off for family obligations, Netflix came out on top.
Other top employers included Pinterest, who offer four paid months off, plus another month of part time work for new parents, Spotify, who offer six months paid plus one month part time for moms and dads, and Facebook, which offers new parents $4,000 in “Baby Cash.”
Although the US is still behind other countries in terms of parental benefits, we can still look out for cool jobs in great companies offering benefits like this for new parents.
And if you aren’t thinking about having that baby quite yet, but know you’ll want to head down that road in the future, we promise you won’t regret investigating parental benefits now.
You can check out the full list of 2016’s Top Employers by Benefit over on the Glassdoor Blog.
