Make Your Old Leggings Luxe With This Easy Hack

It’s almost time to get out your stars and stripes — 4th of July is just around the corner! Along with red, white and blue attire (like our bleach-stamped tank and our stars and stripes headband), we think it’s imperative to add gold to the mix (no surprise there!). So today we’re going to make some Independence Day leggings with gold foil stars. Not only are these perfect for the 4th, but they will also come in handy for Halloween or even your next yoga class :)

Materials:

– gold foil

– gold foil glue

– leggings

– plastic folder

– parchment paper

Tools:

– pen

– scissors

– foam brush

– X-ACTO knife

– iron

– cutting mat

Or get the foil and glue in our Sugar and Cloth Tote Kit!

Instructions:

First, make a stencil. We got a plastic folder (one a kid might use in primary school) and cut it to create our stencil. It worked magically! We will definitely be using this trick again. Draw a star on the plastic and then cut it out with an X-ACTO knife. Make sure you slice clean lines and keep the plastic around the star looking decent.

  1. Draw and cut out a star from your plastic folder using an X-ACTO knife. Remember this is going to be a stencil, so make sure the plastic around the star is intact.
  2. Place your stencil on your leggings and paint a thin layer of gold foil glue. Be careful not to get the glue under the stencil or you’ll end up with a blob rather than a star.
  3. Remove the stencil and add a layer of gold foil. Place a piece of parchment paper on top and iron your star on medium heat.
  4. Peel away the excess gold.
  5. Continue adding stars to your heart’s content.

Place your new stencil on top of your leggings and then add a thin layer of foil glue using your foam brush. Press the stencil down firmly to avoid getting the glue underneath. Otherwise you’ll wind up with a shape that resembles a splotch instead of a star. Too much glue will also result in a misshapen star.

Put a small piece of gold foil on top of the glue. Layer a piece of parchment paper on top and then iron the foil on medium heat. Press firmly, keeping the iron on the star for about thirty seconds. Peel the excess gold foil away from the leggings to reveal your star.

Repeat this process until you have all the stars you want. We only added stars to the bottom of one leg, but you could cover these babies in stars.

Pair your new Independence Day leggings with a red shirt and head to the fireworks show!

Happy 4th!

I don't know if it's bad luck, but I definitely wear my linen dresses — even the white ones — way past Labor Day. As long as the sun is shining and the air is warm, you will usually catch me in one of these comfortable, breathable, and obviously adorable little pieces. Another great thing about linen is that it generally will never go out of style, so don't be afraid to invest in some pieces that will be a part of your wardrobe forever. There are so many great options to choose from, but here are seven linen dresses that make the perfect summer (or any warm weather) outfit.

Abercrombie & Fitch

The A&F Emerson Linen-Blend Puff Sleeve Mini Dress

You guys, I'm not even kidding when I say this is the best dress I own. As a broad shoulder girly, the neckline is SO flattering. Plus, the material is thick and durable, but still breathable for a hot summer day. I own this in black which allows me to dress it up for dinner or wear it to work, but this vibrant pink — and the several other colors and patterns — is so cute for the summer time. At $60 (was $80), this is a steal!

J.Crew

J.Crew Squareneck Midi Dress In Linen

I need to be wearing this dress with a spritz in my hand ASAP. This dress is a J.Crew best seller for a reason — it makes the perfect warm weather staple. This design is so simple, yet with the help of some fun accessories, this dress can be a hundred different outfits. You can shop this dress in white, red, or black for $178.

Zara

Zara Linen Blend Midi Dress

You can never go wrong with a little slit in the summer. This linen blend dress is simple, yet elegant — perfect for any vacay dinner or date night. Throw on some cute sandals and chunky earrings and hit the town in this little green number. Plus, the tie-up back gives you easy adjustment depending on your chest size. Make this your next summer dress for $36 (was $49).

Madewell

Madewell Square-Neck Mini Dress in 100% Linen

Great, I'll take 10 of them! No seriously — this dress is fabulous, the square neckline is just perfection, and stretchy chest area make this dress fit anyone like a glove. You can get this dress in white for a classic summer look, or it's also available in a light blue. If you're a tall girl, this style shows off your beautiful long legs. You can also get it in a wide range of sizes for $93 (was $110).

Abercrombie & Fitch

The A&F Emerson Strapless Linen-Blend Maxi Dress

Oh my god, the color of this dress is everything! I also appreciate a strapless dress in the summertime to show off my tan lines — there's something so luxurious and indulgent about it. This piece is so simple, which means room for you to customize with accessories. Although it's true to size, always be careful about sizing with strapless! A perfect linen staple for $72 (was $120).

Abercrombie & Fitch

A&F Linen-Blend Shell Mini Dress

There's something about a dress with an open back that always gets me. It makes for a fun little surprise you wouldn't expect from looking at the front of the dress — and it's a great excuse for an updo. This piece would be perfect for any more professional setting like work, happy hour with your fave coworkers, or lunch with the in-laws. You could be its next prideful owner for $42 (was $70).

H&M

H&M Linen Slip Dress

I cannot think of anything more summer appropriate than a linen slip dress. It's lightweight, super comfortable, and you can dress it up for a fancy dinner, or literally use it as a bathing suit cover up. Everyone needs a slip dress as part of their summer capsule closet. Add this one from H&M to yours in white or black for $55!

These days, there’s two very likely outcomes you’re facing when you pull up to your go-to grocery store: the egg section is either completely empty or the options for eggs are severely limited. The options that are available will unfortunately cost you an arm and a leg – I saw dozens going for a whopping $10 at Whole Foods this week, but it’s apparently “not unheard of” for a dozen eggs to run as high as $12.

So, where are the eggs? And why are eggs so expensive right now? Scroll on for the answer and what you can do about it.

Why are there no eggs?

There’s a massive shortage of eggs because of avian influenza – AKA bird flu. It wiped out roughly 10% of commercial poultry in the last three months alone, contributing to a notable loss in egg production and sales. Bird flu first appeared in January 2022 and has since affected 136 million birds.

Why are eggs so expensive right now?

Leeloo The First / PEXELS

Eggs are so expensive right now because bird flu has significantly and suddenly decreased the supply of eggs, which is not large enough to meet the needs of consumers. Grocers are now paying around $7 for a dozen eggs, and for the sake of profiting, have adjusted their egg prices to be higher.

General inflation has also contributed to higher prices for eggs. Per the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average price per dozen of Grade A eggs in December 2023 was $2.51. In December 2024 it was $3.65, noting a 45% increase over the previous year.

Will egg prices go down?

Nadin Sh / PEXELS

Bird flu cases continue to rise, so it’s not very likely that egg prices will go down any time soon. In fact, it’s more likely they’ll continue to get more expensive. Because of this, you may continue to see no eggs or a limited supply of them at the grocery store.

Many stores have also begun to enforce limits on their eggs to one carton per customer per trip.

What do I do without eggs?

Mart Production / PEXELS

Nothing can really replace a good ol’ egg, but there are several alternatives you can test out for yourself to fill in the gaps if you can’t get your hands on a dozen. For baking projects like cookies and cakes, flax eggs – made with ground flaxseed and water – or applesauce are common substitutes that result in a similar, egg-like texture. If you’re craving a traditional scrambled egg, you may give tofu scramble or vegan egg alternatives like Just Egg a go.

Summer is officially here! That means swapping out the raincoats for cover ups, and sneakers for sandals. Whether you're at the beach or on a rooftop bar, you will always look cute with the right summer essentials. Though the warm weather welcomes all kinds of clothing, I can confidently say that there are a few staples that everyone should include in their wardrobe. These 8 summer basics are total must-haves to building the cutest outfits this season.

You can be going to a wedding or a picnic in the park with your girlfriends, and a long colorful dress will suit any occasion! Make a statement this summer with a maxi dress that makes you want to frolic in a field. A few good places to look for the perfect flowy dress are Free People, Anthropologie, and Nordstrom. Don't be afraid to make an investment in a maxi dress, because they will never go out of style.

You can find this Free People dress in sizes XS-XL for $168.

Anthropologie

Anthropologie Round Drop Earrings

Gold accessories complement a tan complexion like no other. Be bold this summer with some chunky statement earrings to level up any outfit! Even a plain tank top and some jeans will look extra-chic with a statement jewelry piece like these gold earrings. You can find endless styles out there, but I love the durability Anthropologie's jewelry offers.

Add a pair to your summer essentials for $44.

J.Crew

J.Crew Étienne Oversized Shirt

I cannot stress the importance a button-up top has to offer. Bonus points if it's comfy and oversized! You can style a button-up top for literally anything. Wear it to dinner, to the office, or even as a beach cover-up! The thin material these shirts are meant to bear and beat the summer heat. Plus, they encompass the chic Euro girl style everyone wants. You can quite literally find them everywhere, but I would highly recommend the Étienne Oversized Shirt from J.Crew.

Find this pick in in endless colors and sizes at J.Crew for $98.

Levi's

Levi's Essential Racer Tank Top

Three words: white tank top. Arguably the most important basic in your wardrobe, everyone needs the perfect white tank. I personally love a ribbed tank with thicker straps, so I can wear a bra underneath my top. There are so many options on the market right now, so finding the perfect fit for you is crucial. It’s important to remember: a good quality top will last you a lifetime.

This Levi's tank is available in sizes XXS-XXL for $20.

I don’t know if it’s just me, but my Instagram feed is filled with blue and white pinstripe shorts. So, something tells me it’s a comfy short summer. Bye, jean shorts! You can opt for a casual boxer shorts vibe or lean into the athletic vibe with some cute Adidas shorts. I'm in love with these J.Crew bottoms for running errands.

I was already excited for Christopher Nolan's next epicafter hearing Tom Holland was involved — but then when we learned Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, Lupita Nyong'o, and even more of our favorite stars were going to costar? I didn't know I could feel so much excitement. Universal recently revealed that the new movie will be an adaptation of Homer's The Odyssey. And after Gladiator 2, the ancient world has never been hotter.

Here's everything you need to know about Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey cast before the new movie sails into theaters July 17, 2026.

Meet 'The Odyssey' Movie Cast

www.tiktok.com

#greenscreen okay but let’s talk about this CAST🔥🔥🔥 #oppenheimer #theodyssey #annehathaway #annehathawayedit #zendaya #tomholland #zendayatomholland #robertpattinson #lupitanyongo #christophernolan

Matt Damon

Matt Damon is known for roles in Good Will Hunting and Jason Bourne, and he just starred in Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer.

Tom Holland

In addition to the Spider-Man films, Tom Holland recently starred in The Crowded Room and Cherry, both on Apple TV.

Jon Bernthal

Jon Bernthal may be best known for The Bearright now, but he's more than just "Cousin." Bernthal's starred in many projects, including The Walking Dead, We Own This City, and King Richard.

Anne Hathaway

Anne Hathaway had a great 2024 with The Idea of You, and we'll see The Princess Diaries actress in Colleen Hoover's Verity movie soon!

Zendaya

We saw Zendaya in Dune 2 and Challengers last year, and in addition to joining The Odyssey cast, she'll return as Rue in Euphoria season 3.

Lupita Nyong’o

Lupita Nyong'o totally made us cry during The Wild Robot and A Quiet Place: Day One, and she'll probably do the same in The Odyssey TBH.

Robert Pattinson

Mickey17 and The Batman Part II are two of Robert Pattinson's upcoming movies, in addition to another job with Zendaya called The Drama.

Charlize Theron

Charlize Theron recently starred in FastX as well as Netflix's The School for Good and Evil and Marvel's Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Who does Tom Holland play in The Odyssey?

While we have The Odyssey cast list, we haven't gotten confirmation on which roles the actors are playing...yet. (Although to be fair, we also don't know if this will be a classic adaptation or a reimagining). However, fans are already speculating who we'll see in each role!

I'd love for Robert Pattinson to star as Odysseus alongside Anne Hathaway as Penelope and Tom Holland as Telemachus. Zendaya would be amazing as Athena, while Lupita Nyong'o would definitely stun as Circe. Who knows — maybe we'll see some unexpected casting choices too! Charlize Theron as Zeus and Matt Damon as Poseidon? Yes please.

Who is the villain in The Odyssey?

There's more than one villain in The Odyssey, but one role that definitely stands out is Poseidon. The sea god does everything he can to prevent Odysseus from returning to Ithaca during his sea voyage. TLDR; this definitely isn't your average vacation cruise.

There are some differences when it comes to fans of Taylor Sheridan's TV shows. Some of us are anticipating 1923 season 2 and The Madison, others are mourning the fact 1883 only got a single season — or that Yellowstone actually came to a close. (Be honest, did you roast Taylor for casting Bella Hadid as his girlfriend?). No matter what camp you're in, I rounded up all of Taylor Sheridan's best TV shows in one place so you can see which title you wanna binge watch next.

Here are all of the best Taylor Sheridan TV shows, from Yellowstone to 1923.

1. 1883 — On Paramount+

Emerson Miller/Paramount+

Before the Duttons were in Montana, they started off in Texas. And this Yellowstone prequel follows John Dutton's ancestors, led by James and Margaret, as they make their way across the West.

1883 stars Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Sam Elliott, Isabel May, LaMonica Garrett, Marc Rissmann, Audie Rick, Eric Nelsen, and James Landry Hébert.

2. 1923 — Stream on Paramount+

Emerson Miller/Paramount+

Jump 40 years and you'll find yourself in 1923, which follows James' son Spencer in a race to get back to the ranch, where his aunt and uncle, Jacob and Cara, are fighting to protect it. And season 2 drops on February 23!

1923 stars Julia Schlaepfer, Harrison Ford, Helen Mirren, Brandon Sklenar, Michelle Randolph, Darren Mann, Jerome Flynn, Aminah Nieves, and Isabel May.

3. Yellowstone — Stream on Peacock

Paramount

Now, of course, I couldn't talk about Taylor Sheridan's TV shows without talking about Yellowstone. This hit series follows sixth-generation rancher John Dutton as he fights to protect his home — both figuratively and literally.

Yellowstone stars Kevin Costner, Luke Grimes, Kelly Reilly, Wes Bentley, Cole Hauser, Kelsey Asbille, and Gil Birmingham.

4. Lawmen: Bass Reeves — Stream on Paramount+

Emerson Miller/Paramount+

Lawmen: Bass Reeves tells the story of Bass Reeves (yes, the Bass from the title), one of America's first Black deputy marshals west of the Mississippi river.

Lawmen: Bass Reeves stars David Oyelowo, Barry Pepper, Demi Singleton, Dennis Quaid, Donald Sutherland, Forrest Goodluck, and Lauren E. Banks.

5. The Last Cowboy — Stream on Paramount+

Paramount

Okay I wasn't expecting to add a reality TV show to this list, but if you're more into real-life stories, this is for you! The Last Cowboy follows real-life riders competing for a $1 million prize.

The Last Cowboy stars Ginger Schmersal, Dan Nachtrab, Craig Schmersal, Andrea Fappani, and Cade McCutcheon.

6. Mayor of Kingstown — Stream on Paramount+

Dennis P. Mong Jr./Paramount+

This Taylor Sheridan TV show revolves around another family, the McLusky's, who serve as the middleman between criminals and the police. TLDR; this isn't your average approach to justice.

Mayor of Kingstown stars Jeremy Renner, Dianne Wiest, Hugh Dillon, Tobi Bamtefa, Taylor Handley, Emma Laird, and Kyle Chandler.

7. Landman — Stream on Paramount+

Emerson Miller/Paramount+

We're going back to Texas for Landman, which follows crisis executive Tommy Norris, who's working to secure his company's spot in the booming oil business. Once you finish the show, read up on everything you missed about THAT finale.

Landman stars Billy Bob Thornton, Ali Larter, Michelle Randolph, Jacob Lofland, Kayla Wallace, James Jordan, Mark Collie, Paulina Chávez, Demi Moore, Jon Hamm, Andy Garcia, and Michael Peña.

8. Lioness — Stream on Paramount+

Ryan Green/Paramount+
