6 DIYs for an Adorable and Affordable Holiday Party

Between gift-giving, travel, and holiday parties, *so* much money goes into the holiday season. But wanting to host a holiday party for your loved ones doesn’t have to be an added stress on your bank account. I hung out with my favorite TV hosts on Good Morning America to share my go-to DIYs for hosting a holiday party on the cheap. Watch the clip below, then scroll on for details about each project!

1. Play Jingle Bell Toss. No matter the age of my guests, I find that some friendly competition *always* guarantees a memorable party. In the spirit of the season, try Jingle Bell Toss for this year’s holiday bash. Arrange six buckets into a triangle, label each with points (I recommend 10 points for the front, 20 for the middle two, and 50 points for the back three buckets), then take turns tossing jingle bells into them from five or six feet away. That’s it!

2. Make a reindeer six-pack. Looking to add some holiday flair on the cheap? Dress up your bottled beverages in these charming reindeer getups! Simply glue googly eyes and a pom-pom nose to your bottle, then twist a pipe cleaner into antlers and wrap it around the top of each bottleneck. Adorable, right?

3. Decorate with dessert. Introducing one of my favorite party desserts we’ve ever made: snow-capped cake cones! These quick and tasty treats double as decor. Fill an ice cream cone about halfway with cake batter, place it into a microwave-safe mug, then nuke it for about 30 seconds. Trim the excess cake, let cool, then add royal icing to the tip of the cone. I like to arrange these on a long serving platter in the center of my buffet table, then surprise my guests with their true identity at dessert ;) Check out our full snow-capped cake cones tutorial for more info.

4. Make Candy Cane Card Stands. Whether displaying place cards or labeling the buffet, these darling candy cane stands will no doubt add a touch of fun to the party table. I simply glued two candy canes together, let them dry, then dropped my paper cards into the hook of the cane. How easy is that?

5. Proudly display your holiday card haul on these tree stands. Looking for a modern alternative to displaying all of those holiday cards on a fireplace mantel or on a fridge? Made with scrap wood, push-pins, and string, these tree-shaped card displays are my new go-to holiday decor. Before my annual holiday party, I always add my latest holiday cards and gussy it up with ornaments. Check out our tree card display tutorial for the nitty-gritty details.

6. Gift these reindeer hot cocoa kits as party favors. All reindeer everything! Add these to your bash’s goodie bags so each guest can leave with a sweet treat. Place dry hot chocolate ingredients — cocoa mix, chocolate chips, and marshmallows — into a piping bag. And similar to the bottles above, top it off with antlers made of pipe cleaners, googly eyes, and a pom-pom nose. Easy peasy.

26 Easy Thanksgiving Appetizers Guests Will Love

Since cooking a Thanksgiving dinner takes a hot minute, it's not a bad idea to have some appetizerson-hand to serve your Thanksgiving or Friendsgiving guests. Of course, you don’t want to have to spend a ton of time making snacks when you’re also preparing a feast – but that’s where these last-minute bites come in! These Thanksgiving appetizers will keep your guests satisfied until dinner, and they’re so easy to make, you won’t have to deal with any extra kitchen drama.

Without further ado, let's dive into these quick and easy Thanksgiving appetizers!

Fresh Eggs Daily

Baked Eggs in Butternut Squash Rings

Yummy Thanksgiving Appetizers can be as cute as they are scrumptious — like these Baked Eggs in Butternut Squash Rings recipe form Lisa Steele, author of The Fresh Eggs Daily Cookbook. Here's how you make it:

Ingredients:

1 large butternut squash
Extra-virgin olive oil
Kosher salt
Freshly ground black pepper
6 eggs
1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
Fresh sage for garnish

Directions:

Preheat the oven to 425 degrees. Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper. Wash the squash and cut crosswise into six 3/4- to 1-inch slices. Scoop out the seeds and hollow out the middle of each slice to allow room for an egg.
Arrange the squash on the baking sheet and brush each ring with olive oil inside and out, then season with salt and pepper. Bake on the center rack of the oven for 20 minutes, until the squash has softened. Remove the baking sheet from the oven and gently crack and slide 1 egg into the center of each squash ring. Season with salt and pepper, drizzle with olive oil, and return to the oven. Bake about 8 minutes, until the egg whites are set and the yolks are firm but not fully set.
Use a spatula to slide the squash rings onto plates. Top with Parmesan, garnish with fresh sage, and drizzle with olive oil.

Taylor Swift posted a photo to her Instagram story featuring Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, and Shawn Levy — all of whom are involved in Deadpool & Wolverine, in theaters July 26!

"Over the past few years I have watched one of my best friends on the planet pour every bit of his heart, soul, sweat, time, energy, jokes, pain, joy, rebellion, darkness, and magic into this film," she says. "He's created the best work of his life, and this film feels like an actual joy portal, a wild escape from reality, and an abs sandwich."

After joking that Ryan, Blake, and Shawn randomly crashed her photo, Taylor continues, saying, "Shout out to Wade Wilson [the character played by Ryan Reynolds], aka my godkids' sperm donor!"

Ryan Reynolds had the funniest reaction, and told Deadline, "I'm going to need that on my gravestone, actually."

"Yeah, that is kind of it. She is the godparent to my daughters," the Deadpool actor continued. "That was very sweet. Not just sweet, that was, like, you could probably quantify a box office based on Taylor just doing something like that."

In the past, Ryan Reynolds has been vocal about how much his kids (James, Inez, Betty, and Olin) love Taylor Swift, and the family's appearance at the Eras Tour even went viral!

If someone were to tell me reading is overrated, I'd laugh and keep looking over my latest finds from the Good Morning America book club. It's like I can't get enough of coming across new romance and horror books to cozy up with. I've even started paying attention to #BookTok to see what everyone else is reading.

Although I'm no stranger to book club picks, I didn't know Good Morning America was in on the fun, too. Our favorite familiar faces are joined by some newcomers, bringing a whole new edge to the show we know and love.

This dark comedy is inspired by the Great Canadian Maple Syrup Heist, where a maple syrup farmer stole millions of dollars worth of syrup in order to save her livelihood. Yep, really.

Queer Eye season 9 — On Netflix December 11, 2024

We're in need of some life advice right now, TBH, and thank goodness The Fab Five are bringing it in the new season of Queer Eye. And alongside the emotional stories and heartfelt connections they make in Vegas, we'll see plenty of fabulous style. Because duh!

Now she has to get to the bottom of it before anyone else bites the dust.

"As we all saw at the end of season 1, the main plot of season 2 will be revenge," actor Lee Jung Jae told All K-Pop. "The key figure who controlled the workings of the games in season 1 was Lee Byung-Hun...it seems that the two of us will be the central figures of this next story."

Although I have to admit, I don't know how they're going to top Megan Thee Stallion, Jelly Roll, Sabrina Carpenter, and Tyla's performances from last year!
