27 Pieces You Can Snag from High-End Retailers for $250 or Less

While your rule of thumb for shopping at high-end retailers and e-commerce sites like Net-A-Porter (now catering to budget-friendly brands including J.Crew, Madewell and Sam Edelman), Shopbop (a blogger’s go-to source for double-tap-worthy essentials) and Farfetch (no shortage of up-and-coming labels and designers to be found here!) is normally “look, but don’t buy,” you’d be surprised at the number of investment pieces you can actually snag for $250 or less. Along with a slightly higher price point comes better craftsmanship, expert tailoring and the notion that you’re getting what you’re paying for. There’s a reason cashmere knits cost beaucoup bucks, people! Because sometimes fast fashion just doesn’t cut it — in regards to both quality and fleeting styles — we’ve compiled 27 fashionable fall buys that won’t break the bank. From one savvy frugalista to another, you’re so welcome.

1. 3×1 Vacation Forever Set of Three Embroidered Cotton Patches ($30): Budget-savvy babes, listen up! No need to spend a fortune on the latest It girl-approved patchwork jeans when you can hack a pair of your own for a whopping 30 bucks. We’re partial to this playful vacay-inspired set of patches (flamingos and palm trees? We’re so down) that can be ironed onto a vintage denim jacket or the back pocket of your favorite boyfriend jeans like that.

2. J.Crew Neon Striped Cashmere Sweater ($230): Neutrals for fall? Not on this color enthusiast’s watch. Inject some pep into your step with this preppy cashmere striped sweater that would obvs do Jenna Lyons proud — give or take a chambray button-down, a sequined skirt and some shiny ponies. The fluorescent yellow and peach palette can be taken to new heights with a dazzling statement necklace or a lilac-hued cocoon coat.

3. Adidas Originals Superstar Metallic Printed Suede Sneakers ($85): Your plain ol’ white Adidas Superstars just received a major update — and with metallic foil flakes, no less. Rest assured these iconic sporty kicks will look just as fly with a swishy accordion pleat skirt as a pair of cropped denim flares. Remember, change can be a good thing.

4. Madewell Stretch-Denim Wrap Skirt ($90): How to be a street starlet? We thought you’d never ask. Invest in the denim button-front wrap skirt of the season (major kudos to Madewell for this one) that promises to look just as effortless with a slouchy gray sweatshirt as your boyfriend’s oversized Hanes tee. The split-hem silhouette is perfect for showing off your prized white tennies for an athleisure look.

5. Karl Lagerfeld Kocktail Embellished Glittered Acrylic Clutch ($195): Don’t let the holiday party circuit sneak up on you without snatching up this acrylic feline-inspired Choupette clutch. Just think of all the potentially amazing convos you’ll have by the punch bowl during your office’s annual holiday cocktail party. “So you’re a crazy cat lady? Me too!” says the head honcho at your dream company. Style it alongside a shimmery party frock, dancin’ shoes and playful cat ears (‘cause why not?), and you’ll easily be the best-dressed babe of the night.

6. Michael Michael Kors Frayed High-Rise Wide-Leg Jeans ($135): See ya later, dark wash skinny jeans (we still love you though) — we’ve only got eyes for boho flares this season. Enter the ultra-flattering frayed wide leg jeans that were made to elongate your legs and give you that enviable ‘70s-inspired look. Tuck in a streamlined turtleneck and dangling chandelier earrings or toss on an oversized mock neck sweater and free-wheelin’ clogs for a trip to the pumpkin patch.

7. Sam Edelman Taye Floral-Brocade Ankle Boots ($160): When you factor in cost per wear, these floral brocade beauties will practically pay for themselves. Between the intricate metallic details and the extra-cushiony soles, they’re more than worth the splurge. While a pair of embroidered booties from your fave fast-fashion retailer may be sold for a fraction of the price, you best believe they won’t be lasting beyond this season. (We’ve learned that the hard way.)

8. Ganni Satin Maxi Dress ($240): Where are all our boss babes at?! Equal parts off-duty and athleisure-inspired, this army green satin slip dress has major around-the-clock appeal. Follow in Kendall and Gigi’s footsteps by layering it over a white tee and tossing on a denim jacket and streamlined kicks, or accessorizing it with a velvet choker and lace-up ghillies for an upcoming fall gala. Either way, get ready to slay.

9. Equipment Layla Printed Washed-Silk Camisole ($110): This silk star-print camisole is just as luxurious as it looks, and therefore worth every penny. It’s flowy enough to toss on with black culottes and a smart blazer for the boardroom, and sultry enough for a night out with your squad — just add black ripped jeans and ankle boots for a tough-girl ‘tude.

10. Le Specs Neo Noir Cat-Eye Rubber Sunglasses ($60): These entrance-making cat-eye shades cost how much? Could’ve fooled us. It just goes to show you don’t have to splurge on designer frames for a high-fashion look. These sculptural matte sunglasses, featuring dramatic purple lenses, will make you look super fly even when a case of the outfit blahs hits.

11. Sam Edelman Kent Stretch-Suede Over-the-Knee Boots ($190): These OTK boots were made for walking — and obviously racking up all the style points. When it comes to making well-informed decisions in the sartorial department, it would behoove you to invest in a pair of these suede burgundy stompers. You’ll reach for them on single-digit mornings (hello, skinny jeans and a poncho) and gravitate toward them when you feel like channeling your inner Jane Birkin, in which case a flowy mini dress and felt fedora will be required.

12. Marc Jacobs Tulip-Print Silk-Twill Scarf ($95): Skinny scarves are the hot-off-the-runway micro trend that needs to be on your radar STAT. Run, don’t walk, to call dibs on this silk tulip print scarf that can be knotted around your neck for instant French-girl flair or attached to the handle of your work satchel for a little extra pizzazz. Either way, this hero piece is guaranteed to take any outfit from zero to 100.

13. Sam Edelman Leya Faux Fur-Embellished Suede Slip-On Sneakers ($100): Cue the WTFs: These blush pink pom-pom embellished slip-ons were designed to make random passersby stare. In case you haven’t figured it out by now, blending in with the crowd is so passé. Pair ‘em alongside a black jersey bodycon dress or dial it down with leather joggers and a laid-back-chic pullover. Something tells us that a baseball cap will be in order.

14. Madewell Monsieur Wool-Blend Felt Coat ($250): Please excuse us while we swoon hard for this camel-hued wool topper that pretty much embodies perfection. (Is it just us, or is the only thing missing a plaid blanket scarf, a knit beanie and some Chelsea boots?) The timeless single-button silhouette makes it fair game for all your cold weather needs. In blogger speak, line up those flawless #OOTDs for a season of Instababe-approved looks.

FARFETCH

15. Peter Jensen Cropped Art Sweatshirt ($139): Yet another reason to spend more time frequenting high-end retailers like Farfetch for one-of-a-kind gems: You’ll get first access to cool London-based designers like Peter Jensen that may have otherwise flown under your radar. This Alexander Calder-inspired sweatshirt is made for fellow art enthusiasts who enjoy gallery tours and sketching sessions at the Met.

16. Bassike Funnel Neck Dress ($140): It’s always the underdogs — like this unassuming gray funnel neck dress — that end up getting the most play in your nine-to-five wardrobe. Meet the soft and snug organic cotton dress that will always steer you right. Team it with a leather jacket and kicky platform loafers for an alternative look, or channel a downtown aesthetic with some Yeezys and a faux fur hooded parka. Your move.

17. Rag & Bone / Jean Camouflage Military Jacket ($249): When metallic bombers and street-inspired puffers read meh, don’t hesitate to take it there with a camo print military jacket that demands respect. Whether you style this bad boy with ripped patchwork jeans or go glam with a tulle skirt, the result will be nothing short of groundbreaking. *Adds to cart without hesitation.*

18. Sam Edelman Pointed Toe Ballerinas ($159): When it comes to DDG steppers that don’t break the bank, Sam Edelman can do no wrong. It’s pretty lace-up ballerinas like these Bordeaux-hued stunners that make us want to ditch the sneaks for a considerably more polished look this season. Pair with a tweed blazer and a crisp button-down for the office before slipping into holiday party mode with a velvet pinafore dress and Swiss dot tights.

SHOPBOP

19. Scotch & Soda/Maison Scotch Cool Check Coat ($245): Be still our hearts: We’ve uncovered the check patterned coat of our dreams. We know we say that a lot, but this time we *really* mean it. Keep the January doldrums away with this charming topper that will make you feel infinitely more put together.

20. Capulet Hutton Pajama Shirt ($108): Pajama party on: Take the latest bedroom-inspired trend to the streets with this off-the-clock printed pajama shirt featuring contrast piping and a borrowed-from-the-boys fit. For a look that reads more #girlboss and less sleepyhead, team this wardrobe workhorse alongside pegged trousers and some of-the-moment backless loafers.

21. Kate Spade Yasmin Pumps ($228): Wah. We can’t decide what we love more, the scalloped detail or the sophisticated bow. Perhaps BOTH. When you’re feeling fancy, swipe right for these ultra-femme Kate Spade party pumps that call for your most twirl-worthy tulle dress and a bold red lip. Sign us up, please.

22. Jeffrey Campbell Belan Mules ($125): There are certain shoe styles that have a way of cropping up season after season, and the latest interpretation of menswear-inspired mules is no exception. This vampy, two-toned take on your everyday loafer is not only a shoo-in for the office, but it’s comfortable enough for your commute too. #Winning

23. Cambridge Satchel Saddle Bag ($170): Now here’s a vintage-inspired saddle bag you’ll cherish for years and years to come. The timeless style and structured silhouette is made for girls on the go who swear by a slew of daytime essentials (think: a pretty blouse, jeans and suede mules). Not to mention the whole genuine leather part — that’s always a win-win in our book.

24. T by Alexander Wang Lace Up Bodysuit ($160): A sultry lace-up bodysuit with this much wear-everywhere appeal requires no introduction. Tuck it into flattering high-waisted jeans for the blogger-inspired look of the moment, or opt for a pencil skirt for that covetable Kardashian look (in which case, sky-high heels and mirrored sunnies will be required).

25. Free People Join Hands Leather Skirt ($168): Fact: You can’t go wrong with a leather mini that promises to slay from a.m. to p.m. A plaid shirt, flyaway cardigan and combat boots will do just fine for a casual get-together with friends, while a bow-neck blouse promises to stun come happy hour.

26. Re:named Off Shoulder Cutout Sleeve Top ($65): Adulting is investing in a slew of after hours-approved statement pieces that won’t result in any side-eye from HR. (Unfortunately, an itty-bitty crop top doesn’t always translate well in the real world.) Introducing the off-the-shoulder top, complete with cool elbow cutouts and flared sleeves, that won’t cramp your style one bit. All that’s missing are some contemporary hoops and a free-wheelin’ crossbody bag — and maybe some well-loved boyfriend jeans, if the dress code reads daytime casual — for a totally boss look.

27. Kate Spade New York Winking Beanie ($58): When it’s cold AF outside, a playful winking beanie with this much panache will inspire you to combat the elements in style. Not only will it keep you toasty, but it’s sure to elicit a smile (or two) during your morning commute. Look at you — spreading happiness everywhere!

Do you love dogs yet dread the constant cleaning that comes with shedding? Countless people can relate.

But while every dog owner knows a little fur is inevitable, certain breeds are known for being lower-shedding.

Whether you suffer from allergies or just want to reduce the time you spend cleaning up hair around your living space, here are 12 low-shedding dog breeds that'll make great additions to your household (without the mess).

Scroll to find out the best low-shedding dog breeds!

1. Poodles

Goochie Poochie Grooming

Poodles are known for their hypoallergenic coats, so they shed very little and are ideal for anyone seeking a low-shedding pet.

This breed also comes in three sizes, the Standard, Miniature, and Toy, and is easy to train due to its high intelligence. Just keep in mind that, regardless of their size, all Poodles require regular grooming to keep their curly coats free from mats and tangles.

2. Bichon Frise

RDNE Stock project

Just like the Poodle, the Bichon Frise is another breed that features a hypoallergenic coat. These dogs are tiny, cheerful, and popular due to their friendly nature.

Plus, they're known for being very smart and trainable, making them great family pets that keep clean up around the house to a minimum.

3. Labradoodle

ten Brinke photography

Originally bred as a hypoallergenic service dog, the Labradoodle is a cross between a Labrador Retriever and a Poodle.

These dogs inherited low-shedding coats, thanks to Poodle parents, and are favored for their friendly and affectionate nature. They thrive when given plenty of exercise and early socialization.

4. Maltese

Katya Wolf

Malteses are adorably tiny and cuddly hypoallergenic dogs prized for their silky white coats. They make playful and loving companions, but owners have to stay on top of their grooming routine.

If you prefer that your Maltese has a longer coat, regular maintenance is important to prevent any mats. Otherwise, keeping a shorter "puppy" cut can make grooming much easier.

5. Yorkshire Terrier

JÉSHOOTS

Affectionately referred to as "Yorkies," Yorkshire Terriers are little hypoallergenic dogs with big personalities. They crave attention and are very loyal to their owners.

These pups also shed minimally and can adapt well to a range of households, from cozy apartments to spacious homes.

6. Schnauzers

Sebastian Coman Travel

You may not know that there are three Schnauzer breeds, including the Miniature Schnauzer, the Standard Schnauzer, and the Giant Schnauzer. Despite their size differences, all three are low-shedding.

Miniature Schnauzers are revered for their intelligence and typically weigh between 10 and 20 pounds. Standard Schnauzers, on the other hand, are also known for their smarts and enjoy long walks and mental stimulation. They just can weigh as much as 45 pounds.

Giant Schnauzers can reach up to 85 pounds and are some of the largest hypoallergenic dogs. To keep these pups happy, give them a lot of playtime and exercise.

7. Havanese

Paul Groom Photography Bristol

The Havanese is a little, playful breed that's popular for its charming personality and silky coat that doesn't shed much.

These furry friends adore human interaction, making them devoted companions, and are considered low-shedding. All they need is some regular grooming to keep their coat smooth and tangle-free.

8. Italian Greyhound

Alina Skazka

Italian Greyhounds are sleek and elegant, featuring short, smooth coats that barely shed. Contrary to what their graceful appearance might suggest, these dogs are also very playful, affectionate, and sensitive.

If you're searching for a sophisticated yet loving dog that doesn't require a lot of cleanup, this breed may be your perfect match.

9. Portuguese Water Dog

Julissa Helmuth

Portuguese Water Dogs were first bred to work alongside fishermen. Today, they're regaled for their energy and athleticism, making them a great option for active families.

These dogs also have hypoallergenic fur and don't shed much. If you're an outdoor enthusiast who wants to maintain a fur-free home, the Portuguese Water Dog might be the pet for you.

10. Basenji

Elina Volkova

This unique, cat-like breed is famous for its barkless nature. It actually makes a distinctive "yodel" sound!

Basenjis are very intelligent, playful, and sometimes mischievous, with a high prey drive. Additionally, they don't shed a lot, have minimal grooming requirements, and are often free from usual canine odors.

11. Shih Tzu

Edyttka Stawiarska

The Shih Tzu was initially bred as a companion pet in China and has remained a famous lap dog to this day. They love human company and usually stick to their owners' sides.

But while they're low-shedding, these dogs will still grow a long, luxurious coat that requires regular grooming. Otherwise, you can keep it trimmed shorter for easier maintenance.

12. Brussels Griffon

Mladen Šćekić

Lastly, the Brussels Griffon is a small breed with a rough coat that's non-shedding and simple to groom. That's why these dogs are stellar choices for anyone seeking a low-maintenance pet.

In terms of temperament, Brussels Griffons are smart, affectionate, sensitive, and quite cuddly.

Every single week, people across the nation flock to their local grocery stores to restock their fridges and cabinets with their preferred produce. And everyone, regardless of their gender, age, or background, tends to have a favorite chain to shop at.

Some believe that Trader Joe's is the best due to its affordable products and overall friendly atmosphere; meanwhile, others love supermarkets like Aldi, Kroger, or Publix.

Well, a new study conducted by YouGov, a global public opinion and data company, has revealed the 20 most popular grocery stores in America, and the top slot may shock you.

Scroll to find out what the most popular grocery store in the U.S. is — including where Trader Joe's falls!

Whillien Ghae

For the research effort, 1,220 people who reside in the United States were interviewed during October, November, and December 2024. To gauge public opinion on grocery stores, the study honed in on two different aspects: brand recognition and positive views of said brand. The former is designated as "fame," and the latter is "popularity."

7-Eleven

Spoiler alert: 7-Eleven actually stole first place as the most popular grocery store in the country. The chain emerged with a 97% fame rating and a 65% popularity rating. Only 8% of study participants reported disliking 7-Eleven, and 24% were "neutral" toward the company.

The fact that 7-Eleven won may have you scratching your head, considering it's generally viewed as a convenience store. Nonetheless, the chain, which has over 9,000 locations, does sell drinks, snacks, and carry-out food options, ranging from nachos to pizza and wines. Plus, there are certain locations known as Evolution stores, which offer additional products like craft beer and wine.

Taylor Musser

Despite the somewhat surprising victory, other well-known grocery stores weren't far behind. Trader Joe's came in second place with a 94% fame ranking and a 64% popularity rate. Fewer people also reported disliking Trader Joe's (5%) compared to 7-Eleven.

This is a notable achievement, considering Trader Joe's only has 608 locations throughout the United States.

Cora Pursley

Next, the third place spot for the most popular grocery store was taken by Whole Foods Market. Study participants gave this grocery store a fame ranking of 95% and a popularity rate of 61%.

The rest of the top 10 in order included Aldi, Kroger, Circle K, Publix, Fresh Market, Safeway, and Sprouts Farmers Market.

Stephanie Backer

Interestingly, among specifically Millennials, 7-Eleven still reigned supreme as the most popular grocery store. Generation X and male participants, on the other hand, favored Trader Joe's. Moreover, Baby Boomers and women actually sent Kroger to the winning slot among their respective demographics.

But while there seem to be some generational and gender differences, the overall public opinion is clear. 7-Eleven, Trader Joe's, and Whole Foods Market were all close contenders at the tail end of 2024. What chain will emerge victorious in 2025 remains to be seen.

As much as we'd love to hear that BridgertonSeason 4 is releasing earlier than next year, we'll have to settle for as many teasers and first looks as we can get for now! Fans already know Yerin Ha will be stepping into Sophie Baek's shoes alongside Luke Thompson as Benedict, but Netflix finally released something that'll keep us satiated for a while. We can't promise much else — except these two are clearly going to make our hearts race when they're finally on-screen.

Here's the official Bridgerton Season 4 first look with Sophie & Benedict!

Liam Daniel/Netflix

Benedict's always been one of the lighthearted Bridgerton siblings, but Season 3 showed up just how, uh, free he can be. While he and Eloise did discuss their mutual feelings of wanting to explore life, it seems our loving bachelor is set on finding love in unexpected places.

Liam Daniel/Netflix

Benedict may not have fallen in love with Tilley, but it appears he's head over heels for Sophie and we think it's adorable. But, there's one glaring problem: Sophie's a maid who has plenty of secrets.

Never before have any of the Bridgerton children gotten romantically involved with someone who's in another social class, so this already sounds scandalous.

Liam Daniel/Netflix

Ah, but what will the watchful Queen Charlotte think? Remember, she was certain she was going to expose and punish Lady Whistledown before Penelope's moving speech got her to change her mind. We can only guess how she'll feel about the Bridgertons once she learns of Benedict and Sophie's forbidden romance.

In the meantime, we're already dreaming up as much as we can about this exciting season with these pictures! Oh, and did we mention there's a video too?!

Seriously...season 4 can't come fast enough!!!

We can't wait to see how Benedict and Sophie's love shakes up the Ton in Season 4. We're sure Queen Charlotte and Lady Danbury will have much to discuss!

Lately, we don't have to look far for doomsday news or potential policies that make us feel like a dystopian future will soon be our reality. Although we like to joke about it, we've seen pop culture seemingly predict our current societal and political landscape via everything from episodes of the The Simpsons to the books we've read over the years, wondering how these fictitious communities could experience horrible environments at the hands of others' decisions.

Since art is often bred from very real feelings about history's patterns, we think it's time to open a few relatable books. In our eyes, unprecedented times call for reading thought-provoking work that may seem bleak, but offers hope set in motion by one person's courage in the face of oppression and fear. These are the best dystopian books you should read in 2025.

Here are 15 dystopian books to read if you're tired of doom scrolling on social media.

Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury

It isn't until he meets a teenager named Clarisse that he begins seeing the world through her eyes and it makes him uncomfortable.

Underneath that discomfort is the knowledge that he's been keeping a secret all along and will have to decide which side of history he wants to be on.

The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood

Even if you've never read the book or watched the hit TV series, chances are you've heard about The Handmaid's Tale. It's ruffled feathers to the point it's made it to the banned books list, but author Margaret Atwood's message is loud and clear: women's reproductive rights could become weaponized.
She begins her tale in the aftermath of a second Civil War that's dismantled "normal" America. As such, the Republic of Gilead has been set in place that's meant to remind men and women how things used to be. With men holding positions of power and fertile women being enslaved to help regrow the population comes a sordid tale of oppression and abuse.
However, one maid's memories and desire to break free from her horrible role encourages her to stage one of the biggest coups.

The Power by Naomi Alderman

The Power places decisions in the hands of young girls who aren't typically afforded it. If they choose, these girls can cause great harm to others or even end their lives.
