‘Tis the Season: 23 Candles That Are Perfect for the Holidays

Candles… you always need more, and they make great gifts. As you prepare for the holiday season, set the tone in your home with aromas of pine, cookies, campfire or even a flannel shirt. Whether you’re setting your table for Thanksgiving, setting up your tree or painting your holiday nails, let your nose take you to an enchanted forest or kitchen full of baked goodies with these 23 candles. Happy smelling!

1. Campfire ($15): Fall and winter call for sitting around the campfire, and if you can’t literally do that, you at least have this soy-based candle from Great Bear Wax Co.

2. Winter ($32): Clean, classic packaging along with the fresh scent of winter is what this soy candle, poured in small batches, is all about.

3. Holiday ($22): Spice up your holiday with notes of cinnamon sticks, spiced raisins and gingerbread.

4. Tree ($60): Place this fresh pine forest candle next to your faux tree and no one will know the difference!

5. Gingerbread ($32): The cozy and delicious scent of gingerbread is wrapped in an adorable string and gift box.

6. Naughty ($16): Playful and full of exotic spices, woods and musk, this candle can be gifted alone or with its counterpart…

7. Nice ($16): And that counterpart just so happens to be a sweet mix of vanilla and sugar with a touch of coconut.

8. Hot Cider ($24): Does it get any cuter than a hot cider candle in a mug that you can use after the candle is done? We think not…

9. Woodfire ($16): Drink your hot apple cider right beside a woodfire-scented blend of cedar wood, smoke, patchouli and vanilla in a boho mercury glass holder.

10. Holiday and Birchwood Pine Votive Set ($68): The ultimate luxurious gift set of five votives with two seasonal scents. “Holiday” consists of pomegranate, Mandarin orange, pine and cloves with a touch of vanilla and amber, while “Birchwood Pine” has an aroma of pine, fir balsam and birchwood on top of musk and amber.

11. Flannel Shirt ($22): Cozy up in your favorite flannel and take in the soy wax blend of leather, tobacco, amber and musk.

12. North Woods ($16): A Brit + Co exclusive, this all-natural blend of essential oils in candle form is meant to bring you as close to a dense forest feel as possible.

13. Peppermint ($20): For all you mint mavens out there, this candle will satisfy your senses.

14. Pumpkin Souffle ($16): A delicious dessert in a jar, this guy is full of nutmeg, pumpkin, maple syrup, ginger and vanilla.

15. Balsam and Cedar ($18): The enchanting outdoors in a tin can is great for travelers.

16. Czech Holiday Cookie ($98): For all the non-bakers out there, you can burn this cookie candle without burning your cookies. It’s Czech tradition to bake cookies before the holidays — cookies that smell of cinnamon, clove, cedarwood, lemon, patchouli and vanilla.

17. Holiday Hearth ($38): This stylish Jonathan Adler candle sports red wax and combines outdoor evergreen trees with berries, cinnamon and clove.

18. Creamy Eggnog ($18): Drink in the scent of eggnog in an adorable tin filled with notes of milk, cocoa powder, red fruit, vanilla, allspice, marshmallow, cinnamon, rum and cognac. It’s also available in mulled wine, toasted hazelnut and hot buttered rum.

19. Joy ($15): When it comes to the holidays, a little plaid must be had. Cinnamon, orange and spices fill up this three-wick tin candle.

20. Cashmere Sweater ($32): Stay calm and cozy with a cashmere candle. You’ll be smelling patchouli, vanilla and a hint of lime.

21. Fallen Birch Branch Votive Set ($48): This set of hand-crafted votive holders is great for rustic home decor as well as an option for unscented candles.

22. Holiday ($60): Evergreen, juniper and red current make up Ralph Lauren’s version of what the holidays should smell like.

23. Champagne ($42): Enter the new year with the fizzly sizzly scent of pink grapefruit, champagne, raspberry, French cassis, violet leaves, rose petals, crushed sage, crisp mint and grape leaf… sounds good enough to drink.

Valentine’s Day is all about love, but let’s be real: some gifts just don’t say “I adore you” the way they used to! While romancenever goes out of style, it’s easy for certain Valentine’s Day gifts to feel more like a last-minute grabthan a compassionate, heartfelt expression of love.

If you want to impress your special someone this Valentine's Day, it’s time to retire these 7 “outdated” and overdone gifts that scream predictable.

Scroll on for the 7 “outdated” Valentine’s Day gifts you should definitely skip this year – and what to give instead!

The Glorious Studio / PEXELS

1. Heart-shaped jewelry

Now don’t get me wrong – heart-shaped jewelry can be super cute, but oftentimes, it can feel a little cheesy and predictable for Valentine’s Day.

Instead, consider your Valentine’s personal interests and search for some jewelry that way. Whether it’s sports, animals, or astrology, you’ll surely be able to find something that suits them more closely.

Hassan Ouajbir / PEXELS

2. Huge teddy bears

Those big teddies – or even just the cheap stuffed animals from the drugstore – are not practical whatsoever and tend to collect dust. Unless you know of a very specific plush that your Valentine's been wanting, it’s okay to skip the stuffed animals.

Picjumbo / PEXELS

3. A dozen roses

While red roses can be a romantic gesture, there are so many other flowers to consider. Roses are simply generic AF and very expected – instead, get to the bottom of what your Valentine’s favorite flower is and run with that! From lilies to mums, you could even create your own bouquet with just a little extra effort.

Ksenia Chernaya / PEXELS

4. Fake plants

The same idea goes for fake plants. Why invest in a fake plant when a real one can be so much more meaningful? This way, every time your Valentine goes to water the plant you gave them, they’ll be thinking of you. ❤️

5. Matching gifts

Matching t-shirts, mugs, socks, and the like are honestly pretty cringeworthy, unless you’re really into them. Your Valentine will definitely appreciate a unique gift a lot more this year.

Amazon

6. Cheap chocolates

Cheap chocolates are good for a last-minute gift, but if you want your gift to feel special to your Valentine, please take the extra time (and money!) to opt for a fancier box. They’ll look better and taste better.

Jill Wellington / PEXELS

7. Anything impersonal

All of this goes to say that anything impersonal makes a cliche and outdated Valentine’s Day gift. You don’t even have to go insanely above and beyond for your date this year – just a little extra consideration will definitely make them feel loved.

Amid Blake Lively & Justin Baldoni's legal battle, their It Ends With Us costars have stayed relatively quiet, but on February 17, Brandon Sklenar (who played Atlas opposite Blake's Lily and Justin's Ryle) was straight-up asked if he's Team Blake or Team Justin. The question shocked me a little, TBH, given the internet's discussion around whether the PR for the movie trivialized its themes of domestic violence, but Brandon handled the q like a champ.

Here's what Brandon Sklenar said about being Team Blake Lively or Team Justin Baldoni amid the It Ends With Us legal battle.

Brandon Sklenar wants audiences to "remember why we made" 'It Ends With Us.'

In a conversation ahead of 1923 season 2, which drops on Paramount+ February 23, Brandon revealed that he just wants "people to remember why we made the movie in the first place and what it stands for, and just keeping the focus on that."

The film follows Lily Bloom, who finds herself in the middle of a very complex and dangerous relationship. "That movie meant so much to me, and I have someone very, very close to me in my life who's gone through what Lily's going through for a long time and I've been on the front lines helping her navigate that space," Brandon continues. "Me doing that film gave her the strength to change her life...It's unfortunate that things get taken away from what the ethos of [the movie] is and gets convoluted, and I just want to remind people of why that thing exists in the first place."

But is he Team Blake or Team Justin? "I'm Team It Ends With Us," Brandon tells CBS Mornings co-host Gayle King.

And it's not the first time Brandon Sklenar has spoken up.

This isn't the first time Brandon Sklenar has spoken on the feud between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni. After Blake's legal team published a story in the New York Times in December 2024, alleging that Justin has sexually harassed her and orchestrated a smear campaign against her, the 1923 actor shared the link on his Instagram story on December 23, telling his followers, "For the love of god read this," alongside a red heart and Blake Lively's Instagram handle.

Brandon also took to his Instagram stories after the movie premiered in August 2024, saying "What may or may not have happened behind the scenes does not and hopefully should not detract from what our intentions were in making this film."

"There isn't a single person involved in the making of this film that was not aware of the responsibility we had in making this," he continues, adding that "villifying" the women involved in bringing the story to life "detracts what this film is about."

"Colleen and the women of this cast stand for hope, perseverance, and for women choosing a better life for themselves," he says.

Check out what Brandon Sklenar had to say about an It Starts With Us movie, and read the latest news on his new rowing biopic, The Olympian.

Audiences loved the way Greta Gerwig's Little Women brought all four March sisters to life, and Netflix's Anne with an E became so popular that when the show was canceled after season 3, 1.7 million fans signed a petition to revive the series. It all just proves that classic adaptations can make the original story even more powerful.

And the newest movie based on a book is going to be one we think about forever — and not just because of its cast. Emerald Fennell (who you'll recognize from The Crown and her work as writer & director on Satburn) is adapting Emily Brontë's Wuthering Heights and Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi are leading the cast!

The book, published in 1847, continues to grip readers, and it's become the blueprint for moody complexity — just like Emerald Fennell's Promising Young Woman, which won the Oscar for Best Screenplay thanks to its scathing look at sexual assault. Well, the Em's are coming together for this new adaptation.

Here's everything we know about Emerald Fennell's Wuthering Heights — and your first look at the movie.

Here's Your First Look At 'Wuthering Heights'

The first look at Emerald Fennell's Wuthering Heights is getting some seriously mixed reactions. The photo features a close-up image of someone (maybe Margot Robbie's) with their fingers and a few blades of grass in their mouth.

"CAN NOT WAIT," one Instagram user said, along with a couple fire emojis. But the intimate (and somewhat shocking) image also has some users asking, "what in the saltburn?"

Is Wuthering Heights going to be in theaters?

Focus Features

It appears director Emerald Fennell and producer Margot Robbie are pushing for a theatrical release, which is why they've reportedly turned down a Netflix offer of $150 million.

Despite the fact Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos said theatrical releases are "just not our business," and the company has stuck to at-home streaming instead, they did break that pattern for Knives Out: Glass Onion in 2022. The movie appeared in around 600 theaters the day before Thanksgiving, but left a week later ahead of its December 23 debut on the streamer.

Co-CEO Reed Hastings told The Hollywood Reporter that keeping the movie in theaters could have made Netflix more money, but later said they just wanted to "break through the noise" and get movie lovers excited for the film to come to Netflix.

All that to be said, Margot Robbie (whose Barbie made over $1 billion worldwide) and Emerald Fennell (whose Promising Young Woman nabbed her an Oscar win and two other nominations) know how to capture the imaginations of movie lovers everywhere. And it could definitely be in their favor to stick to a theatrical release. Stay tuned for official news on where you can watch Wuthering Heights!

Wuthering Heights Cast

The Wuthering Heights movie will be led by Jacob Elordi and Margot Robbie as Heathcliff and Catherine Earnshaw, respectively. Margot will also produce with her production company LuckyChap, which worked behind the scenes on Emerald Fennell's Saltburn and Promising Young Woman.

While some fans were initially excited about the casting, others were concerned about the fact that in the book, Heathcliff is described as "dark skinned." He also tells Nelly that, "I wish I had light hair and a fair skin, and was dressed, and behaved as well, and had a chance of being as rich as he will be!" Um, it looks like Jacob Elordi definitely has fair skin to me.

"Heathcliff is described as a dark-skinned brown man in the book and a major plot point is that he was subjected to racist abuse by his adopted family," one tweet (which has over 8 million views) says. "But yeah sure Jacob Elordi is perfect!"

Another says, "Film studios will say 'We are committed to diverse casting' and then cast Jacob Elordi to play Heathcliff, one of the more famous people of color in literature, whose race is crucial to both his character and the story."

Check back here to see who will play characters like Edgar Linton, Nelly Dean, Isabella Linton, and Lockwood.

When is Wuthering Heights coming out?

Warner Bros. Pictures

Wuthering Heights Release Date

Wuthering Heights will premiere on February 14, 2026. Happy Valentine's Day!

What is Wuthering Heights about?

Wuthering Heights Plot

Emily Brontë's Wuthering Heights follows the Earnshaws and the Lintons, who are living in the Yorkshire Moors in the 1880s. Their lives change forever when the Earnshaws take in Heathcliff. Like any good dramatic novel, passion lies beneath proper connections, marriages, and societal expectations — and despite Catherine and Heathcliffe's feelings for each other, they have to choose between security and love.
