How to Conquer Your Fears and Start Your Dream Business

Data suggests that more people than ever hope to own a business someday, despite a gap in resources that millennials say hold them back from bringing a great idea to life. Though money, knowledge, the right location, and a brilliant mentor are ultra-helpful to any aspiring business owner, being able to push aside your fears to actually begin is just as important. Katie Raquel from Monterey’s delicious juicery Katie’s Coldpress dishes the deets with us on how scary it was to get started. She also shares how she ultimately overcame her fears, found her footing, and powered through the tough times to grow her thriving California company.

Raquel tells us that she started her raw juice business when her daughter was just six months old and that the scariest thing was pouring her energy into something that took time away from her family. “For me, starting small and letting go of the idea of being ‘perfect’ at anything were a huge help,” she admits. “I’ve never been one to judge how anyone chooses to balance work and family, so I committed to not judging myself either, so I could take it just one day at a time.” The beginning was tough, in that she did get less time with her newborn daughter Ellie and struggled to find enough energy for her growing business. She’s since figured out how to run Katie’s Coldpress in a way that allows her to spend even more time with her growing brood than if she worked a typical nine-to-five job — and she welcomed twin boys last year! “It’s been a long road, and it takes a lot of experimentation to figure out how to make it work. But if you can be gentle with yourself and embrace a long learning curve, business and kids are a lot more fun.”

1. Expect to push and pivot your way through the unknown. Raquel reminds us that when it comes to building a biz, there’s a real possibility of encountering new hurdles anytime. “For me, one of the scariest things about business is the very real possibility that there’s a challenge right around the corner that I am not qualified to handle. Pushing forward and confronting how little I know can be so uncomfortable!” To power through, Raquel suggests staying open to doing lots of research, talking with people who have run into similar problems, and reminding yourself that you can handle so much more than you think. “When you run into a game-changing obstacle, you can pivot and keep moving; each time you push through, it gets easier.”

2. Find people you trust (and be a person who can be trusted). A solid support system is a major difference-maker in business. “Having people that you trust to back you up makes it so much easier to face the unknown,” Raquel swears. “I’ve been collaborating with my husband through our various workplaces and through personal creative projects since we met in college over a decade ago; the best decision I’ve ever made was to choose to spend my life with him.” She gushes about her family too, telling us that hers moved from Minnesota to join her in Monterey, CA and help her with the business and her family two years ago. “Their generosity and support are pretty mind blowing; I know how lucky I am. And I like to think I give as good as I get. I spend a lot of time focusing on how to earn trust and express gratitude and compassion — within my family and through the business.” Raquel cites The Speed of Trust by Stephen M.R. Covey as a must-read book, telling us it’s full of interesting ways that building trust can impact your business.

3. Find a healthy balance. “I know I am not alone in feeling more afraid, vulnerable, and weak when I’m physically unwell or emotionally unbalanced,” Raquel says. “Get right with yourself in whatever way you can so you are in the best position to handle the next challenge and show up for your loved ones and community.” She says that consistent sleep, creative outlets, and a plant-rich diet make a huge difference for her. “I’m also a shameless consumer of self-help books! For some people, it’s meditation or running. For others, it’s prioritizing time with supportive people or creating a minimalist environment where they can feel at peace.” She reminds us that while there isn’t a one-size-fits-all wellness solution, you can start experimenting right now to figure out what makes you feel your best and helps you succeed.

Netflix has given us some bangers (hello Nobody Wants This!) but, according to TV viewers, it's also given us some epic flops. Whether the scripts fell flat or the actors had no chemistry, these are the worst TV shows on Netflix you can watch right now — with Rotten Tomatoes ratings of less than 40 percent! Listen, sometimes we all need a good hate watch while we're doing chores right? Is that just me? Anyway, let's get into it.

Here are the 8 worst Netflix shows you can stream in 2025.

1. The I-Land (2019)

Netflix

The I-Land has been compared to Lost, and it's a comparison that (somewhat) rings true. 10 people wake up on an island with one another...and without their memories. Unfortunately the 8 percent RT score proves this series missed the mark. "I-Land was terrible acting, just nothing redeemable," one Reddit user says. "They even green screened most of the beach scenes."

The I-Land stars Kate Bosworth, Ronald Peet, Michelle Veintimilla, Sibylla Deen, Gilles Geary, Kota Eberhardt, and Kyle Schmid.

2. Girlboss (2017)

Karen Ballard/Netflix

Sophia Amoruso might be rebellious and creative, but Netflix watchers aren't a fan of this TV show (and it has nothing to do with the fact we're in the post-girlboss era). "Some of the outfits were really cool but the main character was absolutely insufferable and had no redeeming qualities," one Reddit user points out.

The show, which follows Sophia's rise to business woman through selling vintage clothes online, has a 35 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Girlboss stars Britt Robertson, Ellie Reed, Alphonso McAuley, Johnny Simmons, and Dean Norris.

3. Another Life (2019)

Eike Schroter/Netflix

Another Life follows Niko, an astronaut on the hunt for AI. Except in this Netflix show, AI stands for alien intelligence. That means Niko and her crew are in for some serious alien danger, but unfortunately, according to the 6 percent RT score, that danger isn't enough to hook viewers.

Another Life stars Katee Sackhoff, Justin Chatwin, Samuel Anderson, Blu Hunt, A.J. Rivera, Jake Abel, Alex Ozerov, Alexander Eling, Jay R Tinaco, Lina Renna, Selma Blair, and Elizabeth Ludlow.

4. Sex/Life (2021)

Netflix

Viewers consider Sex/Life — which follows a love triangle between a woman, her husband, and a special someone from her past — to be one of the worst Netflix shows because "the acting and the writing was so, so, so bad," according to a Reddit user. "It was so corny and felt like fan fiction." And the 40 percent RT score agrees.

Sex/Life stars Sarah Shahi, Mike Vogel, Adam Demos, Margaret Odette, Cleo Anthony, and Darius Homayoun.

5. Echoes (2022)

Netflix

Leni and Gina are identical twins who have secretly swapped lives since childhood. But everything about their perfectly-curated double lives spirals when one sister goes missing. Sound gripping? The RT score of 22 percent says otherwise.

Echoes stars Michelle Monaghan, Matt Bomer, Daniel Sunjata, Ali Stroker, Karen Robinson, Rosanny Zayas, Michael O'Neill, Celia Weston, Gable Swanlund, and Jonathan Tucker.

6. Blockbuster (2023)

Ricardo Hubbs/Netflix

Blockbuster stars fan favorite actors like Melissa Fumero and Randall Park. But not even the incredible cast could save this Netflix show, which follows the last Blockbuster video store in the country, from a 23 percent RT score.

Blockbuster stars Randall Park, Melissa Fumero, Olga Merediz, Tyler Alvarez, and Madeleine Arthur.

7. Insatiable (2018)

Tina Rowden/Netflix

In Insatiable, a recently-thin Patty is out for revenge on anyone who ever fat-shamed her, and a beauty pageant sounds like a great place to start. The show has a 12 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes and one Reddit user says they "can’t name one good thing about it." Yikes.

Insatiable stars Dallas Roberts, Debby Ryan, Christopher Gorham, Sarah Colonna, Erinn Westbrook, Kimmy Shields, Michael Provost, Irene Choi, Alyssa Milano, and Arden Myrin.

8. 13 Reasons Why (2017)

Beth Dubber/Netflix

This Netflix show might have been an iconic pop culture moment, but the 35 percent RT rating shows it's not necessarily an enjoyable one. The series follows Clay, who receives 13 voice tapes from a girl named Hannah after she takes her own life — and each tape details one reason she ended her life.

13 Reasons Why stars Dylan Minnette, Katherine Langford, Christian Navarro, Alisha Boe, Brandon Flynn, Justin Prentice, Miles Heizer, Ross Butler, Devin Druid, Amy Hargreaves, Derek Luke, Kate Walsh, Brian d'Arcy James, Grace Saif, Brenda Strong, Timothy Granaderos, Mark Pellegrino, Tyler Barnhardt, Jan Luis Castellanos, Deaken Bluman, and Gary Sinise.

Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco have made headlines again, but now Hailey Bieber— and all the alleged drama with her — is back in the picture. We were under the impression she was excited for the couple's engagement, but one fan claims she's back at her shady behavior...and it's making people look at her sideways all over again. Here's what allegedly happened, plus what Hailey had to say about it all!

Scroll to find out if Hailey Bieber actually threw shade at Selena Gomez & Benny Blanco...

Hailey Bieber can't seem to catch a break in the news. Though we reported she liked Selena Gomez & Benny Blanco's engagement post last year, there was a suggestion she may have other thoughts about them. It's no secret she and Selena allegedly aren't the best of friends, but we never would've suspected she'd do what one person claims she did.

According to TikTok creator @courtneypresto, Hailey liked a video where she admits to being "a little shady to Selena Gomez." She also shared a couple of interesting pictures of her and Benny's Interview Magazine feature with one of them showing Benny smiling while the singer's two feet are on his cheeks.

But Hailey apparently thinks the creator's claim is "fake news" because her rep told Page Six, "This never happened." To make things slightly worse, the rep also threw @courtneypresto under the bus. "This entire story has been fabricated by a content creator looking to capitalize off of an old, tired narrative." You can't see us, but this statement made us choke on our lattes.

Buzzfeed reports the model also shared a personal statement on Instagram, but it's unclear who she was referring to. The message started off with, "pastors and preachers really love to put words together with the same letter and act like it's HITTING so crazy..." before she signed off with "...sh-- drives me bananas."

As for Selena & Benny? They're in their own paradise and the singer's recent post dedicated to the producer proves it. She shared a sweet Instagram carousel that captured intimate moments of their love to celebrate his birthday. "I’m not sure what I did to deserve you but damn am I glad you were born.. happy birthday baby ♥️."

Maybe Hailey Bieber liked the original shady TikTok by accident? Whatever the case, we hope the girls aren't fighting again!

Nothing sets your week up for success more than a productive Sunday. By taking a few hours out of your weekend to get everything ready for the workdays ahead, you can set yourself up for success in every area of your life. Trying toeat healthier? Working toward some career goals? Trying to reduce stress in your life? All of these goals can be more easily accomplished by laying the proper groundwork for each week as it starts. Here are a few of the habits you should try to cultivate on Sundays for a more productive workweek.

1. Meal prep. First and foremost, meal prepping makes eating healthy throughout the week significantly easier. This is especially true if you work full time. Meal prepping doesn’t have to be a multi-hour, day-long process either. Here are a few of our favorite tips and tricks for keeping it quick:

  • Meal-prep your breakfasts by creating ready-to-go smoothies. Slice up whatever fruit and veggies you like to use and place them, along with any other mix-ins, into a ziplock bag. Store in the freezer. Each morning, all you need to do is add the contents of the bag along with water or milk to your blender and hit go.
  • Batch-cook your proteins for the week by laying 5-6 servings of meat on a baking sheet. Cook in the oven and store in the fridge, and then reheat throughout the week.
  • Cook a huge batch of rice or quinoa as a base for convenient, ready-to-go healthy sides.
  • Pre-slice any veggies you use tend to use often so you don't have to slice them up as you cook throughout the week. Common combos include mirepoix (onion, carrot, celery), sofrito (onion, garlic, tomato, bell pepper), and the Cajun “holy trinity" (onion, bell pepper, celery).

2. Organize your planner. Whether you use a day planner or a bullet journal, take 30 minutes or so to get everything organized for the week. Write in any appointments, plans, or projects you have on the horizon, and section off as much time as you'll need to get everything done. You can also use your planner to make grocery lists, track habits you want to accomplish each day, and schedule relaxation time.

3. Set goals. While you're working in your planner, set some goals for the week. Make sure they are timely things you can actually accomplish before the following Sunday: When you set unattainable goals, you only stress yourself out. In your planner, break down concrete steps and actions to take to ensure you achieve those weekly goals.

4. Clean out your bag. Too many of us start the week with last weekend's receipts, wrappers, scraps, movie tickets, and god-knows-what-else in our bags. Give yourself an organized start to the week and stay ahead of the mess by cleaning out your purse.

5. Pick out your outfits. Take a glance at the weather forecast, and use it to inform what outfits you want to wear on each day of the week. Even if you're WFH these days, having outfits all picked out will keep you feeling both comfy and ready to crush the day each day. You can either fold each outfit and arrange them side by side, our plan the outfits in an app like Stylebook.

6. Call an accountability partner. Pick a person — be it your mom, your best friend, or your SO — who will be an uplifting force in your life and help you stay focused as the week goes on. Agree to check in on each other mid-week to see how each other is doing and help gently remind each other of the goals you both want to accomplish. This should be a person who can also lend a friendly ear if you need to vent about your passion project, your coworker, or your creative blocks.

Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively just premiered their new movie Another Simple Favor at the 2025 SXSW Festival (you can stream it on Prime Video May 1), and aside from buzz about the movie itself, the internet is going wild for one simple reason. Anna Kendrick got a little sassy when asked what it was like to reunite with Blake for the film, and while the drama surrounding Blake's It Ends With Us legal battle didn't delay the movie, social media users can't stop talking about Anna's reaction.

Here's what Anna Kendrick said about working with Blake Lively on Another Simple Favor.

Anna Kendrick's comments about Blake Lively just went viral.

While greeting fans at the movie premiere, Anna was asked what it meant to be working with Blake again, to which Anna doesn't even stop. She just responds, "Oh, you know."

"'Oh you know' are the exact words I say when someone asks me how I am and I am barely hanging on," one TikTok user jokes in the comments, while another speculates, "I think she hates the hate Blake is getting and how the media is out to get click bait from her about it."

@varietymagazine How is the release of "Another Simple Favor" being affected by everything going on in the world? Anna Kendrick: "Why, what happened? I did ayahuasca and the last year of my life is just gone." #SXSW♬ original sound - Variety

The actress was also asked about "everything going on" (undoubtedly alluding to the It Ends With Us drama), to which Anna responded, "Why, what happened? I did ayahuasca and the last year of my life is just gone."

Anna is known for her sense of humor, and TikTok users commented saying this "was a phenomenal answer" and that she's "effortlessly funny."

Anna opened up about reuniting with Blake for the sequel, telling People in October 2024 that getting cast members from the first A Simple Favor back together again was "a little bit like riding a bike."

"She lives on the East Coast, I live on the West Coast, so we don't get to see each other often," she says. "But it was lovely, and I think that those characters have such weird chemistry that it's so fun to just get the gang back together."

And when someone tweeted that Blake Lively was "terrified to walk the carpet" and Anna Kendrick was "pissed and never wants to work with her again," director Paul Feig retweeted with a simple, "Um … you’re wrong." And I'll take his word for it.

Daylight saving time is finally here so we've been thinking about the cute spring outfits we want to wear. We've already found the most flattering petite jeans to dance into, but now we're setting our sights on plus-size skirts that won't make us look frumpy. If it's not obvious, we firmly reject the idea that someone's height or weight indicates they're unable to dress fashionably — how "outdated!"

Since we know you're looking for curvy-girl approved options, we have the perfect skirts that'll take you from dinner parties to that upcoming spring break trip you're ready for!

Scroll to find the cutest plus-size skirts that'll make you feel like the stylish fashionista you are!

Lane Bryant

Lane Bryant High-Rise Denim Pencil Skirt

You either hate to see denim skirts coming or you're madly in love with them. Between us, we're in the latter group after seeing Lane Bryant's take on them. The darker wash has an air of spring sophistication about it that makes it workwear-friendly, plus it'll take you to happy hour with your friends!

Pretty Little Thing

Pretty Little Thing Plus Tan Faux Suede Skirt

Got plans to attend an influencer event soon? You'll need a skirt that errs between professional and stylish. Since Pretty Little Thing's "controversial" rebrand, we've been seeing elevated styles that suggest they're catering to an audience that's redefining their idea of fun.

Our verdict for this suede mini number? Yes and yes!

ELOQUII

ELOQUII x Kate Spade NY Stripe Trumpet Skirt

Picture this: You're enjoying a nice trip to a vineyard for wine tasting and have found the perfect field of tulips to frolic in. How cool would it be if you were wearing this gorgeous trumpet skirt and a cute pink cardigan? We say it'll be very cool.

Macy's

And Now This Rhinestone-Embellished Skirt

Slip skirts are everything but boring. For example, look at this rhinestone cutie. It's saying, "I'm ready for a little blind-date action" without being overboard. The last thing you'll want to do this spring is wearing huge sequins on a first date unless your suitor's invited you to a themed party!

Ulla Popken

Von Laden Ribbon Trim Accent Skirt

Live a little this spring and lean into something that feels perfect for Easter. It's a great option to wear to your church's annual picnic because it's reminiscent of the beautiful colors found in nature.

Unique Vintage

Unique Vintage 1940s Plaid Boucle Trumpet Skirt

Do you need another trumpet skirt? No, but we bet you're eyeing this vintage-inspired one anyway. We don't know why, but plaid means a lot to our inner preppy girl and we're sure you feel the same.

Torrid

Torrid Retro Swing Skirt

Ella Fitzgerald said it best: "It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing." We doubt she was referring to this skirt, but the rules still apply for plus-size clothing.

This is a flattering and comfortable piece that'll keep you cool on days where the temperature's teetering between spring and summer, but we only have one piece of advice: avoid wearing on windy days!

Ashley Stewart

Ashley Stewart Button Embellished Midi Skirt

Stop! According to us, you need this gorgeous embellished skirt that'll get you compliments wherever you go. It almost appears A-line, but the hem stops short of that so you won't feel restricted while walking around.

BloomChic

BloomChic Ditsy Floral Print Skirt

We can still hear Miranda Priestly's chilling voice in our ear, but what's spring fashion without florals? We don't want to know so we're sharing this cute piece with you. Plus, the elastic waist seems like the perfect addition if you're going to a 5-course dinner party.

City Chic

City Chic Kyra Leopard Print Skirt

Leopard print still has its claws in us, but we're not ashamed. It's one of the easiest patterns to style because you wear a cute green, red, or pink top with it to make it spring-friendly. And once you add a nice pair shoes, you'll be ready for all the photo-ops on your upcoming trip!

Ashley Stewart

Ashley Stewart Mermaid Denim Skirt

Did you know all denim skirts aren't created equal? It's something we should be knowledgeable about, but fashion keeps surprising us!

This mermaid-style design's thrown us for a loop in the best way because it's meant to accentuate your figure without making you feel like you have to squeeze into it. After all, there's no fun in that.

Amazon

Moon Wood Pleated Maxi Skirt

You need a willowy skirt that's going to take you from walking around an outdoor festival to dancing non-stop when your favorite performers hit the main stage. Take it from us, you need something as cute and cozy as this pleated maxi skirt.

Target

Universal Thread Eyelet Maxi Skirt

We think our hearts just skipped several beats because this eyelet skirt looks like a princesses dream come true! While that may be a slight exaggeration, the beauty of this piece isn't! It even comes with a matching top!
