Style Resolutions: How to Pull Off Bermuda Shorts This Spring

With warm weather comes the shedding of layers — something we are oh-so ready to do. Obviously, there are some occasions where a bare-it-all look just won’t fly, and even if your favorite pair of say, shorts, still leaves plenty to the imagination, sometimes you’re just going to need something with a little more coverage. Enter, the Bermuda short. Totally misunderstood, they often get a bad rap and might even conjure up frightening images of some of your more memorable (and questionable) fashion choices from way back when. Believe it or not, they can look insanely on point if styled right. We’ve made a resolution to get the most out of our wardrobes in 2015, so below we’re showing you three chic ways to wear your Bermuda shorts (only $30!) this spring. Scroll through to see how we’d wear these stylin’ shorts to the office, on a night out and on a lazy weekend.

ON-DUTY

Shorts would usually be considered a major no-no in the work place, but with Bermudas, you totally get the green light. First and foremost, get the fit right. They shouldn’t be too tight or too loose. And you should be able to move around with ease, while still looking polished and put together. For an office-ready look, pair it up with tailored pieces like a long blazer, chic sleeveless top and brightly hued block sandals.

Uniqlo Bermuda Shorts ($30) + Diane Von Furstenburg Printed Silk Blazer ($174), Kurt Geiger Kindly Carvela ($105), Warehouse Button Back Shell ($57), Tiro Tiro Lado Necklace ($215), Madewell Fringe Bucket Bag ($168), Club Monaco Campbell Loopy Cow Ring ($99)

PARTY ON

From dinner and drinks to dominating the dance floor, Bermudas can even work for a night out on the town. Go edgy with your accessories and outwear for a dash of downtown cool, and pair with a fun, flirty top that feels modern, but not too sweet.

Uniqlo Bermuda Shorts ($30) + Zara Zipped Leather Biker Jacket ($299), Bauble Bar Spiked Chieftess Drops ($32), Comme des Garçons Clutch Wallet ($137), Needle & Thread Locket Embellished Chiffon Top ($160), Senso Tiarna Sandals ($170), & Other Stories Bar Ring ($22)

WEEKEND RETREAT

Bermudas off duty? Yes, indeed. These short tailored trousers instantly transform laid-back pieces like t-shirts and slip-ons into a serious fashion statement. Tack on some funky baubles, slick sunnies and an on-trend, military-inspired topper for a stylin’ ensemble that you’ll want to wear everywhere from Saturday morning coffee with friends to your favorite band’s gig.

Uniqlo Bermuda Shorts ($30) + 6397 Flowers Tee ($95), Forever21 Quilted Metallic Slip-Ons ($25), Abro Ottilie Crossbody Bag ($198), Atterley Road Khaki Twill Drop Waist Jacket ($155), Lionette NY Chloe Ear Jackets ($198), Komono Clement Moss Green Sunglasses ($49)

Choosing a hairstyle for the day with very fine, thin hair can sometimes make you go a tad crazy. I know I've been there once or twice (or many) times, myself. Struggling to keep volume in your hair after you do said-hairstyle can be even harder. That's why I often opt for more voluminous hairstyles that allow your hair to look a bit fuller than it may actually be!

I asked hair expert Renee Valerie on her tips for styling thin hair, and how to keep it looking voluminous all day long, so keep reading to hear all of her amazing insight! And make sure to save this list so you can come back to it when you're having one of those "I can't get my hair to not be anything but flat" days. 😘

How do you keep volume in thin hair?

Kayla Walden

With thin hair, you have to be aware that curls or other heat-based styles won't hold as long in your hair because of the fine texture. In order to get styles to last, you have to use volumizing products like a styling mist or a holding gel. Expert hair stylist, Renee Valerie, says that you should never hesitate to layer products to achieve the fullness and lasting style that fine hair requires.

Using sprays or gels will help create a long-lasting voluminous style, while also protecting the color and health of your hair. So don't be scared to try new products — and even test them out together!

Layers

To start, a good layered haircut will make all the difference with fine hair. When you get a haircut with lots of layers, this helps to create dimension in the hair which gives the illusion of volume, especially when styled right. This added texture makes styling so easy because it gives your hair way more life and movement.

Half Up Half Down

There's many ways you can go about this — and I'll definitely get into more options — but you can't go wrong with a classic half-up half-down. This is a great style when you're on the end of your hair wash cycle, and need to hide some of the grease. Add a touch of dry shampoo and throw it up in this style, and you're good to go! Plus, it gets even cuter when you style it with a scrunchie or a bow to add a fun touch to the look!

Ashley Diego

Blowout

A classic blowout is one of my favorite styles for my thin hair! I typically do this when my hair's freshly wet out of the shower. I'll soak it in a styling gel or voluminous mousse to help give it volume and allow the curls to hold. Then I'll either blow it dry or use my Dyson Airwrap for the curls. The trick is to add strengthening hairspray after for an even longer hold.

Kayla Walden

Claw Clip

I love using claw clip because I can tease the underside of my hair for some added volume and use the claw clip to push up my hair even more. This is another great way to add volume to otherwise flat hair — and it's super easy to do! You just need a teasing comb, a claw clip, and voila! You're out the door, and looking fab!

Lotte Nielsen

Beachy Waves

Beachy, textured waves are sure to bring life to your thin hair! I love doing this fun hairstyle when I want a more textured look. I'll either braid my hair the night before to get the waves, or individually curl my hair tightly to get these tighter peachy waves like above. Then, all you need to do is add a texture spray and scrunch your hair. These usually last 2-3 days for me!

Cara Ellis

Messy Bun

Ah, the messy bun. Quite easily the best and quickest way to deal with your thin hair, giving it the illusion of texture or volume. I also happen to love how my hair looks when I take it out of the messy bun — I get all these kinky waves that give life to your hair. Just throw it up in a bun without trying too hard, and pull out some face-framing pieces. You'll look like you have voluminous hair in no time!

Jessie Allen

Half-Up Half-Down Braid

This is a super fun hairstyle if you're looking for something intermediate or a little more complicated than our other styles! The easiest way I like to achieve this style is by taking two pieces from either side of your hair and braiding them individually. Then wrap them around your head, tucking them into each other to create and invisible braid like above. Take it a step further by adding in beads, accessories, or flowers into the braid. A very whimsical, bridal style — or every something flirty for everyday — if I say so myself!

Kayla Walden

Using Hot Rollers

For this style, I actually used hot rollers to achieve a bouncy looking blowout. Whenever I use hot rollers, my blowout lasts much, much longer — this is because when you clip them to your head, they cool off in the curled shape for better hold. This is perfect for thin, fine hair that normally doesn't hold curls too well. It's my go-to style when I need the curls to really last all day long.

Olivia and Christian haven't shared a due date just yet, but it's highly likely their sweet baby will be born this year!

How long have she and Christian McCaffrey been married?

Olivia and Christian traded "I Dos" June 29, 2024 according to Vogue. They had a beautiful New England wedding at Ocean house and were surrounded by the love of the people closest to them. "As a bride, there’s no better feeling than your husband not being able to wait a second longer to marry you."

Prior to getting married, the couple's relationship was the result of a "blind date" orchestrated by someone they knew. Olivia said things went so well that they were basically "inseparable" from that point forward!

Yellowstone captured the hearts of millions of viewers ever since the Taylor Sheridan show debuted on Paramount in 2018. The hit drama follows the Dutton family as they fight to protect their sprawling Montana ranch from land developers, political forces, and internal family struggles.

The cast features certain big names like Kevin Costner, who won the Gloden Globe for best performance by an actor in a television series drama in 2023, as well as some relatively new stars.

If you can't get enough of Yellowstone, here's where else you can watch your favorite cast members on the big screen.

Scroll to see where else you can watch your fave Yellowstonecast members!

Paramount

Kevin Costner

Starring as John Dutton, the powerful patriarch of the Dutton family, Kevin Costner is the largest star in the series. But his acting career actually started back in 1981, and since securing two Academy Awards for Dances With Wolves in 1991, he's accumulated an impressive resume.

He's best known for playing iconic characters like Ray Kinsella in Field of Dreams, Crash Davis in Bull Durham, and Frank Framer in The Bodyguard. Additionally, he delivered a standout performance as Sonny Weaver Jr. in Draft Day, Larry Bloom in Molly's Game, and Al Harrison in Hidden Figures.

Paramout

Kelly Reilly

Prior to taking on the fierce role of Beth Dutton in Yellowstone, Kelly Reilly had already built a lofty film and television career. She acted in Pride & Prejudice, Citizen Gangster, and Eden Lake, as well as starred as Mary in Sherlock Holmes and its sequel.

On television, she's showcased her talent in a range of roles, from the crime drama Above Suspicion to the psychological medical series Black Box.

Paramount

Luke Grimes

Luke Grimes is from Ohio and made his acting debut in 2006 after landing a role in All the Boys Love Mandy Lane, and he's gone on to appear in both film and television hits.

In American Sniper, he portrayed Navy SEAL Marc Lee, and in the Fifty Shades of Grey franchise, he played Christian Grey's brother, Elliot. As for TV roles, he's known for his performance as James on True Blood and Ryan Lafferty on Brothers & Sisters.

Paramount

Cole Hauser

You might best know Cole Hauser as the tough and loyal Rip Wheeler on Yellowstone, but his acting career began during the early 1990s.

He made his film debut in 1992 with Frame-Up II: The Cover-Up before landing roles in cult classics like Dazed and Confused and Good Will Hunting. Later, he was in action-packed films such as 2 Fast 2 Furious and The Last Champion.

Cole has had a commendable television presence, too, portraying Charlie Siringo in The Lizzie Borden Chronicles, a limited drama series, and Ethan Jelly in Rogue, a police drama.

Paramount

Kelsey Asbille

Kelsey Asbille has definitely made a name for herself on television. Before her most recent role as Monica Dutton, she first gained recognition as Gigi on One Tree Hill, who she played from 2005 to 2009.

After that, she starred as Mikayla Makoola on Disney XD's Pair of Kings and later took on the role of Tracy Stewart in Teen Wolf and Swanee Capps in Fargo.

Paramount

Wes Bentley

Wes Bentley broke into the acting scene after scoring a role in the short Serendipity Lane in 1995. Then, his haunting performance in American Beauty gained him widespread recognition, and he later appeared in films such as Ghost Rider, The Hunger Games, and We Are Your Friends.

In 2014, he ventured into television, portraying Edward Mordrake in American Horror Story: Freak Show and returned for multiple seasons to play different characters. Finally, alongside Yellowstone, Wes voiced Niander Wallace Jr. in Blade Runner: Black Lotus.

Paramount

Jefferson White

Iowa native Jefferson White is best known for his role as Jimmy Hurdstram, the Yellowstone Ranch worker. His acting career started just over a decade ago after he got a small role in 2014 on The Americans.

Jefferson proceeded to play Cole on Manhattan that same year and has quickly built up his resume ever since. He's appeared in shows like How to Get Away With Murder, The Bite, and Blindspot.

Alec Baldwin's movie Rust is finally on its way. The western was in production in New Mexico in 2021 when a prop gun loaded with blanks as well as a live round went off, killing cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, hitting writer-director Joel Souza, and resulting in more than one case of involuntary manslaughter. But four years later, the new movie is now entering the final stages of post-production.

Here's the first look at Alec Baldwin's Rust — and everything you need to know about the movie, coming in 2025.

'Rust' is a gritty family drama that connects to the real world.

The movie's plot feels a bit foreboding and eerie, as it follows a boy named Lucas, who's facing the gallows after he accidentally shoots and kills a man. When his grandfather breaks him out, the two set off on a journey of survival. It definitely sounds like it has the gritty edge of Clint Eastwood's movies, with the beating heart we love to see at the center of 1923.

Rust re-entered production in 2023, and while they attempted to keep as much of Hutchins' work as possible, the movie had to reshoot some scenes when actor Jensen Ackles didn't return. (His role was recast with Josh Hopkins).

While Joel Souza doesn't “expect people to necessarily all agree or understand" with the decision to complete the movie, he tellsVanity Fair that "every fiber of my being just tells me that I can’t let that disappear. It’s not that we’re trying to exploit anything. I want to share her work with the world. I want people to see what she was capable of.”

And in addition to Alec Baldwin, the 'Rust' cast is spectacular.

The Rust cast includes some amazing actors in addition to leading actor Alec Baldwin. Here's a breakdown of who we'll see in the movie:

  • Alec Baldwin stars as Harland Rust, Lucas' outlaw grandfather who breaks him out of jail.
  • Patrick Scott McDermott plays Lucas Hollister, who's left in charge of his brother Jacob after the death of their parents.
  • Josh Hopkins stars as Wood Helm, a U.S. Marshal, who's hunting Lucas.
  • Frances Fisher plays Evelyn Bassett, Lucas and Jacob's aunt who attempts to save Lucas from hanging.
  • Easton Malcolm plays Jacob.
  • Tyler W. Gaisford stars as Dutch Henry Tibbs, part of Wood's hunting party.
  • Jake Busey stars as Drum Parker, another member of Wood's hunting party.
  • Travis Fimmel plays Preacher, a bounty hunter who got his nickname thanks to his familiarity with the Bible.

Here's when you can watch 'Rust.'

We don't have an official update on the Rust release date yet, but VF reports "moviegoers should expect to see it sometime in the months ahead."
