How Two Frenemies Went from Biz Rivals to #GirlBoss Partners

We all want to do and be our best in our careers. From listening to TED Talks for tips on how to move up the ladder to waiting to have kids until your career is where you want it, we all make decisions to be our best work selves. Which is exactly what Cassie Hughes and Gabrey Means, co-founders of experiential marketing agency Grow Marketing in San Francisco, do every day. And if you think you’re handling your work frenemy like a boss, just wait until you hear their story. Cassie and Gabrey were former business competitors in the cutthroat world of retail until it all ended over a conversation and a bottle of wine. Read on.

B+C: Give us the deets. Where were you both before founding Grow Marketing? How did you decide to join forces? Are you really enemies turned partners?

CH: Before launching Grow, I led Presence and Publicity for Levi’s and oversaw PR for Esprit. Today, I serve as Grow’s Strategy Director.

GM: Before co-founding Grow, I was the Experiential Marketing Director for Banana Republic and served as the in-house creative for co-branded initiatives at GQ Magazine. Today, I serve as Grow’s Creative Director.

While at Levi’s and Gap respectively, we knew and were BUGGED by each other. Cassie took over Coney Island for a huge Levi’s anniversary event and every fashion editor I wanted to be paying attention to my brand could not stop talking about hers.

CH: And Gabrey shut down streets in Union Square for a huge launch event and all of my colleagues were raving about it the next day. Needless to say, I was steaming. We had the same job at frenemy brands, thus becoming frenemies by association and using each other’s work as fuel to push ourselves to go bigger and better with every product launch, store opening and new campaign.

GM: Everything changed when a friend introduced us, who insisted we should know each other. Having been rivals, we were both a little skeptical, but we met over a glass of wine for a new business pitch, which quickly became a bottle, and found that we not only respected each other’s work, we really enjoyed the person behind it. It was love at first brainstorm. As we talked about the agencies we managed and the kind we were looking for but could never find — equal parts strategy, creative and execution — we quickly realized we were better together. Shortly after, Grow was born.

B+C: What was it like in the early years, coming from leadership roles with major retail brands to owners of a small business?

CH: It was exciting and invigorating on every level. We were freed from the corporate chains and dismissed have-tos and bureaucracy and replaced them with our own values and ideals. We empowered ourselves to build an agency exactly the way we wanted to. We had years of experience and management and were liberated to only do the work we wanted to do and only with the people we chose to do it with. We cared about every detail and never took the opportunity for granted. While we did miss the stable paycheck and benefits at first, the money you make on your own can’t be compared to a dollar made any other way.

GM: From the moment we started Grow, I have loved it… deeply. We are total Northern Californians and spent time setting our vision and intentions for the culture-driven shop we wanted to grow. We kicked the corporate politics to the curb and focused on attracting great brands with lovely clients to fuel a happy, balanced life. I am so thankful for my time at Gap, as our client-side rigor is what sets us apart in our industry.

It was hard going from a stable environment with computers that worked and coffee at the ready, but it was all so exciting to be able to build exactly what we wanted. I will always remember sitting on the floor of our first office while my dad helped us put our first desks together and the late nights typing away together with a bottle of wine between us. It was so exciting to chart our own destiny, and now here we are.

B+C: Grow works with brands to create experiences for consumers. Can you talk a little bit about what that means and how it differs from traditional advertising and PR firms?

CH + GM: We are an experiential marketing agency that builds award-winning campaigns from strategy to creative to execution. In a nutshell, we create flawless live experiences — from pop-up stores to mobile tours to large-scale events — that drive consumer action and advocacy and fuel brand conversations.

With shrinking newsrooms and the explosion of social media, brands have to work harder than ever to get attention. While traditional advertising and PR still serve a purpose, consumers have developed a voracious appetite and ongoing need for shareable content, which can be satisfied with intimate experiences and thoughtful brand engagements. Over the years, this has fueled the growth of experiential marketing and taken live experiences from a nice-to-have to a core element of the marketing mix.

B+C: Can you tell us about one of your favorite collaborations?

CH: As experiential marketers, buying and renovating our own building in San Francisco was by far one of my favorite collaborations. It was the manifestation of all the things we love — creating beautiful experiences — although this time it was for us and our team, designing each nook and cranny as we so desired and creating the physical embodiment of our brand. There is not a day that I come into the office and forget how grateful I am for what we created.

GM: I think the growing of Grow would have to be my favorite collaboration. From a two-person consultancy to a 75-person agency, Cassie and I have built a creative shop with a unique culture that mirrors our values. We have lovely, collaborative folks who roll up their sleeves and like doing the work. We generate amazing output from a team that appreciates balance and has robust passions outside of Grow, which helps keep the fresh ideas flowing. We like cocktails and good laughs. We appreciate pretty details from well-curated design books to Parisian fabrics and artisanal candies. We like to be in each other’s company, and it shows.

B+C: What does success look like to each of you?

CH: Success for me is growth and balance in all areas of my life. When I am challenged in new ways and can grow as a business owner, wife, mother, friend and general human being, and have time to be all parts of who I am, I have achieved success. On a day-to-day level, success includes meaty projects I can sink my teeth into, a glass of wine with my husband at night and sleepy bedtime minutes with my daughter.

GM: Success for me is not solely measured by money (even though it never hurts). It is by the buzz of good energy in the office, great work going out the door and interesting calls coming in. When Grow is humming it is easier to fully unplug outside of work and deeply connect with my family. We are here now and I do not take it for granted.

B+C: How do you complement each other and how do you challenge each other?

CH: Gabrey and I complement each other greatly because while our values, perseverance and desires look identical, we approach things with different styles and energy. We have distinct passions and strengths, and when you put us together, 1+1 = 3. She might be the perfect match for one client, and myself for another. We have always played to and embraced our differences and learned how to make our collective strengths grow into something truly amazing. I wouldn’t want anyone else watching my back.

I’d say we champion, more than challenge, each other. We push one another to be our best self and will be the voice of reason and support to the other when needed. We take turns being in the stressed out or worried chair and are the first to tell each other to go exercise and take care of ourselves when we are going off the rails. We challenge ourselves as a collective team driving the business more than we do one-on-one.

GM: Cassie and I are the perfect pairing of opposites. She is calm and I am caliente. She is strategic and methodical and I am more free-form. Our differences are what make us more powerful, but can also sometimes lead to friction; however, the energy created from different thinking and conflicting styles always leads us to our best ideas.

B+C: What should future besties know before going into business together?

CH: Gabrey and I became close because the work and mutual visions for ourselves brought us together, not vice versa. Truthfully, I wouldn’t want it any other way — our love grew from mutual respect, hard work and sharing similar values. I love my BFFs, but can’t imagine doing this type of work with them. If you take this path, just know you’re going to need date nights and a lot of time talking! Spend time getting to know each other, talking about how you plan to weather and watch each other’s backs in hard times; understand each other’s level of commitment and how you both define balance and success. Your lives will be interconnected in ways you can’t even imagine, and you’ll need time outside of your business and families to get to know each other as entrepreneurs.

GM: I feel like I won the lottery that Cassie and I have such a great relationship, but partnerships are like a marriage — they are not always easy and require a lot of nurturing. Cassie and I were not friends before we started Grow; we were rivals who became friends. I think it would be really hard to dive in with a friend who you have not worked with before. We were lucky that, from the very beginning, we have been on the same page in terms of values and vision — this is a critical component to having a successful partnership.

You need to talk about it, all of it. Discuss your vision for the amount of work you want to do and the money you need to earn. Where do you want to be in five years — does it align? If partners are not on the same page from the beginning, it is not going to work.

B+C: What advice do you have for women in competing roles?

CH: Never be catty, and always take the high road. You can learn a lot from your competitors, so you should be a grown-up and respectful at all times. Who knows, a glass of wine together might lead to future magic. The more good, strong women we all have in our circles the better off we will be as a collective. Be sure to also spend more time cultivating great women on your team than you spend watching your competitor and comparing yourself. Do great work with your heart and your time will come.

GM: The world is small, especially if you are in the same field, so always act with integrity. You never know when it might come back to haunt you if you don’t. Your ex-competitor might become your boss someday!

B+C: Best piece of advice for fellow and aspiring #girlbosses?

CH: First and foremost, always listen to your gut. Set clear intentions for yourself and your company so you are clear about what you want to make happen. You have to know what you want to get it. And be careful what you wish for; it very well might come true!

GM: DO IT! Just jump and have confidence in yourself — the hardest step is the first one. Also, know what you don’t know and surround yourself with the best talent to round out your team.

Our favorite murder mystery is returning for another season! Only Murders in the Building, which stars Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez, is Hulu's most-watched original comedy — and season three was the platform's most-streamed original project this year. It looks like Arconiacs really DO want more because Only Murders in the Building season 4 is here — and that finale is CRAZY. Here's everything we know about the upcoming installment of the show, and don't forget to read our interview with costumer Dana Covarrubias! After you've rewatched seasons 1-3 (again), check out The Best New TV Shows Coming In 2024for more!

What happened at the end of Only Murders in the Building season 4?

Patrick Harbron/Disney

After learning Marshall is Sazz's killer, Mabel, Charles, and Oliver are almost his next victims before Jan shoots him in the back from the empty apartment across the courtyard. But the season 4 finale isn't all drama! Oliver and Loretta finally tie the knot, and Oliver decides to stay in NYC while Loretta has to film in New Zealand. But in the final moments of the episode, we see that Lester is our next murder victim. HOW COULD YOU HULU?!

Tune into Only Murders season 5 to unmask the killer!

Does Selena Gomez like Steve Martin and Martin Short?

Selena Gomez/Instagram

Yes, Selena Gomez, Steve Martin, and Martin Short are all close! While presenting the award for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series, Selena Gomez and Martin Short had a moment onstage that totally reminded me of Oliver and Mabel. While making their way to the mic, Selena had to jog to keep up with Martin and Steve (she was wearing a stunning Ralph Lauren dress, after all). And when she expresses some nerves about tripping, Martin grabs her arm and says, "I got you baby." The sweetest!!

And Selena shows just as much love to her iconic costars. "I want to thank @stevemartinreally and Marty (who hates social media) for truly being the most kind, gentle, warm and powerful influences in my life," Selena Gomez says on Instagram. "You have shown me a level of class, intellect and humor that doesn’t seem to be easy to find anymore. You guys are truly best friends to me forever." I love this trio so much!

When is the next season of Only Murders in the Building coming out?

Image via Selena Gomez/Instagram

Only Murders in the Building season 4 is coming to Hulu Tuesday August 27, 2024. That means we're getting the Olympics, Bridgerton, The Bear, Emily in Paris, and House of the Dragon all in one summer. WOW.

Selena Gomez posted a screenshot on March 1 announcing that filming had begun! In honor of Day 1, Martin Short and Steve Martin sent her a bouquet of flowers with a note that reads, "We're so happy to be back with you, love, Steve and Marty." Okay cute!!

What is the Only Murders In The Building Season 4 filming like?

Image via Only Murders/Instagram

The official Only Murders in the Building Instagram account shared the first shot from set, and we couldn't be happier to see our favorite trio! "The besties are back," the post reads. "Season 4 🎥." And it looks like the costume color palette is still shades of green, blue, and red like in previous seasons, with Steve Martin's Charles wearing blue slacks and green shoes, and Martin Short's Oliver wearing rust-colored pants. Selena Gomez' Mabel is sticking to neutrals for now, but I'm sure we'll see plenty of color in her wardrobe in the weeks to come!

Selena Gomez also revealed to The Hollywood Reporter that shooting season 4 was a blast. "This is our most exciting season yet. That’s what I would definitely say with confidence, because it was far too fun," she says. "It’s going to be, to date, probably my favorite season."

But Only Murders in the Building season 4 also came with its own challenges. "We used to shoot everything in order, and that would help me a lot," she continues, "but because we had so many different things that were happening, and we wanted to make sure everybody was comfortable and we could adjust to people’s schedules, it jumped all over the place [this season]."

Who's going to be in the Only Murders in the Building season 4 cast?

Image via Patrick Harbron/Hulu

Unfortunately, Mabel and Tobert won't reunite for Only Murders season 4 because actor Jesse Williams just confirmed with People he's not returning for the series with a very straightforward, "I'm not on that show anymore."

Selena Gomez, Martin Short, and Steve Martin will return to lead Only Murders in the Building season 4. We'll also see Meryl Streep return alongside newcomers Eugene Levy, Eva Longoria, Kumail Nanjiani, Desmin Borges, Siena Werber, Lilian Rebelo, and White Lotus star Molly Shannon. While we don't have any info on Eugene and Eva's role, we'll see Molly as a "high-powered Los Angeles business woman who finds herself drawn into the world of the investigation in New York,” via Variety.

As someone who was head over heels obsessed with Cheaper By The Dozen 2 as a kid, I can't wait to see Eugene Levy and Steve Martin onscreen again!

What is Only Murders in the Building season 4 about?

Image via Patrick Harbron/Hulu

"I think the idea of what you create is a thing you put out to the world, and sometimes you can’t be prepared for the repercussions of what potentially the world does with your thing," showrunner John Hoffman tells The Hollywood Reporter. "So, the podcast and everything else that’s happened, and what it all means, and what it could have been meaning all along."

We've seen the way Mabel, Oliver, and Charles' podcast has catapulted them into danger and adventure in the last three seasons, and it sounds like Only Murders in the Building season 4 will focus even more on the repercussions of their podcast — and it's going to happen in Los Angeles.

"Well, I’m very excited to see Steve, Martin and Selena take a little break from the apartment building and come to Los Angeles," ABC boss Craig Erwich tells Deadline. "So in the same way that John Hoffman used the canvas of Broadway to tell [Only Murders season 3], the same unique Only Murders take will be applied to Los Angeles, which I’m really excited about."

How many episodes of Only Murders In The Building on Hulu are there?

Image via Patrick Harbron/Hulu

All three seasons of Only Murders in the Building have 10 episodes each. We're definitely going to binge watch all 30 multiple times before season 4 comes out!

Who dies at the end of season 3 of Only Murders in the Building?

Image via Patrick Harbron/Hulu

At the very end of Only Murders season 3, we see Sazz (played by Jane Lynch) get shot while walking around Charles' apartment — and then try to write him a message with her own blood. Crazy! But even crazier is the fact she was dressed up like him, meaning the murderer was actually after Charles. But the great thing about Only Murders in the Building is that the victim becomes an even larger part of the story than they were before.

"The more personal you can make the victim to one of our trio, or the murderer to one of our trio, the better," showrunner John Hoffman tells THR. "It felt like a perfect opportunity to let Charles have this connection and explore more of that connection. It’s one of the great characters. We’ve loved writing Sazz so much, and that’s the beauty of the show is, you get a lot more time with the victims. They’re not gone when some ill fate happens to them."

Where is the Arconia in New York?

Image via Patrick Harbron/Hulu

In real life, the Arconia is the The Belnord Apartments. The building takes up an entire city block, and the Italian Renaissance Revival style it was made in is absolutely beautiful. You can see the outside of the building in New York City's west 86th street, but since it's a real apartment building, you won't be able to go inside!

How did they get Sting to be in Only Murders in the Building?

Image via Craig Blakenhorn/Hulu

Sting was a guest star in the first season of Only Murders in the Building thanks to his friendship with Steve Martin and casting director Bernard Telsey! That's also how Meryl Streep (who's also friends with Steve Martin and Martin Short) got to be a part of season 3.

Where can I watch Only Murders in the Building?

Where did the inspiration for the costumes come from?

Image via Patrick Harbron/Hulu

In our interview with costume designer Dana Covarrubias, she mentioned how much her and Selena Gomez' Mexican heritage influenced her outfits in season one, while the aesthetics of The Hardy Boys and Alfred Hitchcock's films influenced her looks in season two.

"I was trying to figure out something within that [murder mystery] world again, but our whole season is about Broadway and about theatre, and I think that just trumped everything else," she says. "It was very exciting to re-explore some of my favorite musicals...Almost all of Mabel's costumes this season are directly inspired by one or two musicals."

We're talking Guys and Dolls, Chicago, and Little Shop of Horrors. Check back here for the season four costume inspo!

Will there be a season 4 of Only Murders in the Building?

Image via Patrick Harbron/Hulu

Yes, Only Murders in the Building season 4 is confirmed! The official Instagram announcement post features our favorite trio against a vivid green backdrop. Selena Gomez stuns in a bright red sweater dress with a cold shoulder silhouette, while Martin Short wears a blue suit and Steve Martin wears purple. This definitely feels like a nod to the Only Murders in the Building costumes — Selena's Mabel wears a lot of marigold and red, while Steve's Charles started off the show in blue and Martin's Oliver chose shades of purple.

This post has been updated.

Melissa Barrera's Your Monster might be the perfect unconventional Halloween movie, but the actress actually isn't a huge fan of the holiday. "I'm not a big Halloween person," she told me at the movie's New York premiereon October 24. "Weirdly, I haven't dressed up for Halloween in a long time."

The movie follows Melissa's Laura, who gets dumped after a cancer scare, then finds out her ex has cast another woman in the musical she helped him develop. The cherry on top? When she returns to her childhood home for recovery, she finds a monster living in her closet. Like Lisa Frankenstein, Heathers, and other cult classics before it, Your Monster provides an outlet for female rage — and while I have no doubt it was satisfying to make, it feels almost as satisfying to watch. And we can thank the women involved!

Dominik Bindl/Getty Images

"I feel so fortunate that I got to work with all of them in one front," Melissa Barrera says of director Caroline Lindy and costars Kayla Foster and Meghann Fahy a few days after the premiere. "They're so talented and so generous and so lovely and it just kind of felt like working with friends." Despite the fact the group already knew each other, Melissa was welcomed with open arms. "It was such a safe space, you know, it was so safe and unjudgmental and truly collaborative and it was all about propping each other up all the time."

"Even behind the scenes, there were a lot of women too," she says before exclaiming, "Women in film! It's great because also, it's about female rage. It's a story about female rage. So it makes sense that it would be women that have been through this, that understand what it's like, that know what Laura is going through to tell this story."

Dimitrios Kambouris/Getty Images

I loved seeing Melissa reunite with the cast and crew at the premiere, but this isn't the first time she's formed a bond with a costar. After the release of Scream 6 in 2023, videos of Melissa and her onscreen sister Jenna Ortega laughing during the press tour went viral — and considering how much the moment reminded me of my relationship with my own sister, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to ask about it.

"I was so sick during the whole press," she says. "We were laughing because I would start choking on my cough, so it was hilarious — or I would start laughing and it would make me cough and then I couldn't stop. So yeah, we were laughing a lot during that press run because I was sick as a dog."

Philippe Bossé/Paramount Pictures

But a relationship with Jenna, and laughing, weren't the only things Melissa went viral for last year. After posting about the Palestinian and Israeli conflict, Melissa Barrera was fired from Scream. Jenna Ortega left the franchise a few days later, citing scheduling conflicts with Wednesday season 2. Earlier this year at the Sundance Film Festival premiere of Your Monster, Melissa revealed how "grateful" she was for the experience because, in the long, run it helped her "finally figure out who I'm supposed to be." And now that we're at a time of year where people are retrospective, she feels even more grounded in herself — because while others are just now reflecting on the year they've had, she's been reflecting since long before January.

"Everybody's kind of like thinking of like, 'What does the future hold? Like, how do we make it better?' And I have been thinking that for a year," she says. "There's people that have actually been on this journey for way longer, and it's them that we should be thanking for our world not being like over with right now, you know? They're the ones that continue to make changes for the better and to fight for better things for all of us."

"I definitely feel like a changed person. I definitely feel like my priorities are completely different than they were a year ago," she continues. "I see the world through different eyes now, I see people through different eyes. I see the industry through different eyes, and I'm so grateful for that. I'm so grateful for everything that I went through, even though it was really hard, I'm so grateful that I lived it and that I survived it, and that I'm stronger for it. And that I know I have a focus of what I wanna keep doing, not just for me and my career, but like, how can I contribute to the industry and to the world to make it better and safer for everyone?"

Vertical Entertainment

And Your Monster is a beautiful contribution to the industry. I was really struck by the idea of not only confronting your childhood monsters, but befriending them. "I want people to come out of [Your Monster] having had a good time, a good laugh, and just feeling good," she says. "Because I feel like a lot of times you come out of the theater feeling so heavy because movies are so dark [but] that's what Caroline wants with her films. She wants to make movies where people can feel safe in the movie theater."

"Second, I hope that people catch on to the layers of the story and how deep it actually is, and Laura's journey, and the metaphors for how repressed we are," she continues. "And I keep saying women, but it's not necessarily just women, anybody can feel that way. And this idea of befriending the monster in your closet is such a life hack. Imagine not being scared of the thing that scared you in your childhood anymore! Like how liberating and how beautiful to actually fall in love with it and to make peace with it and then be able to go through life fearless like that. I wish that for everyone. So I hope that it makes people think and that they wanna re-watch because there's every time that you watch this movie there, you'll see more of the genius that Caroline injected in like tiny little details."

Vertical Entertainment

And for an actress who went to school for theatre and describes it as her "first love" (not to mention the fact she stunned as Vanessa in 2021's In The Heights), she was more than happy to step back onto the stage...kind of. "It was so fun," she says. "Being able to portray that world so accurately too, we had a lot of actual New York theater people come in and do little one-scene things."

"There are people like [Laura's ex] Jacob out there, there's that nervousness, the tension, the excitement, the anticipation, and it's such a beautiful process," she continues. "I love being able to live vicariously through Laura and live out that dream of the Broadway debut. And I think there's such a stigma against theatre and musicals in film, such, like, a rejection that I don't understand because there used to be a time where every movie was a musical and it was amazing! What happened? But to show another side to it through not full face musical, but a little taste of that in a movie that otherwise is a normal movie, I think for me as a theater nerd, as a musical theater geek, it's great to be able to lure people in and be like, 'Look at this beauty, so cool. Maybe go watch musicals!'"

After only two episodes of Only Murders in the Building season 4, Hulu renewed the series for season 5! I'm so excited that the show breaks a recent pattern of cancelling shows after the third or fourth season, giving us more time with our favorite characters, and I'm not the only one.

"Here we go again… my favorite set family. I’m coming home!" Selena Gomez says in an Instagram post, while the official Only Murders account made their own post, saying, "We had our lawyers call business affairs. Turned the 4 into a 5. #OnlyMurdersInTheBuilding is coming back for Season 5!!" Here's everything you need to know about the new season, coming to Hulu soon.

What is Only Murders in the Building season 5 about?

Patrick Harbron/Disney

Only Murders in the Building Season 5 Plot

We finally got our first details about Only Murders season 5 — and we're going in a direction I totally didn't expect. When Sofia visits Mabel and Charles in the season 4 ending, and asks them to find her missing husband, she's disappointed when they turn her down. And since Téa Leoni just joined the season 5 cast, it looks like she's not taking no for an answer.

“I think she’s the great tease at the end of the finale and a little bit of an intriguing bump forward,” co-creator John Hoffman says in an interview with Deadline. “She’s an extension of the little news report in Episode 9 that Mabel makes note of at the hospital. [Sofia] is the wife of the Dry Cleaning King of Brooklyn, and maybe a couple of dry cleaning outlets in Manhattan, as well, we may come to know...It’s a world opened up potentially that we haven’t talked about too much yet in New York, so she holds a lot of intrigue.”

New York's underground is definitely something we haven't really seen on Only Murders yet so I know we're in for one very interesting season.

When is Only Murders in the Building season 5 coming out?

Only Murders in the Building Season 5 Release Date

Considering we've had a new season over the last four years (with season 1 in 2021, season 2 in 2022, season 3 in 2023, and season 4 in 2024), we're expecting to see season 5 in 2025. Stay tuned for the official Only Murders in the Building season 5 release date.

Only Murders in the Building Season 5 Cast

The cast of Only Murders in the Building includes Selena Gomez, Martin Short, and Steve Martin. Téa Leoni will also return as Sofia Caccimelio, whose husband Nicky has gone missing.

Season 3 featured Ashley Park, Paul Rudd, Meryl Streep, and Jesse Williams, while season 4 stars Streep, Eugene Levy, Eva Longoria, Kumail Nanjiani, Desmin Borges, Siena Werber, Lilian Rebelo, and Molly Shannon.

"I am so grateful that I have been surrounded by human beings that make me better, challenge me, remind me day after day that every moment is a gift," Selena Gomez says about working with Martin and Short. "That’s my pure joy. I thank god for the era I’m in. It’s been the best yet."

Will there be an Only Murders in the Building season 5?

Yes, Only Murders in the Building has been renewed for season 5! On September 4, Variety confirmed the next installment will have 10 episodes, just like the seasons before it. The latest season premiered on Hulu August 27, and will last until October 29 (just in time to try out an Only Murders Halloween costume!)

Just like the season 3 ending set up season 4, we'll have to wait for the October finale to figure out what kind of mayhem Mabel, Oliver, and Charles will get into next season. "We hope you like it!" Selena Gomez says in the Only Murders in the Building account's announcement, while Martin Short adds, "How exciting is that?"

"We're so exciting to be coming back," Steve Martin says. We're excited too!!

Celebrity breakups are never fun to hear about (hello, Zoe Kravitz and Channing Tatum 😭), but sometimes they seem to give entertainers a boost of personal and creative inspiration. Case in point — Natalie Portman's divorce has given her an almost femme fatale edge. We last saw her in Lady in the Lake, but she recently stepped out with a new hairstyle that's reframed her face!

What new hairstyle does Natalie Portman have?

Natasha Campos/Getty Images for Netflix and Pascal Le Segretain/Getty Images

On October 28, Natalie Portman turned heads when she stepped onto the red carpet at the 68th Ballon D'Or Ceremony at Theatre Du Chatelet in Paris. She's traded in the long balayage hair she's been wearing for a shorter dark brown bob that rests slightly below her chin. Though the silk press may be in style, Natalie allowed her curls to shine and seemed to wear eye makeup that mirrors her new hair color.

The actress also shared a pictureof herself next to Aitana Bonmatí and a clearer view of her hairstyle is visible. She didn't mention anything about it, opting to keep the focus on Bonmatí's achievement instead. "Hero 🙌 Congratulations Aitana Bonmatí on your Ballon d’Or award! It was such an honor to be there with you and to celebrate all you’ve done for women’s football." her caption says.

Even if Natalie doesn't care to address this new style, we think it's perfect for her!

When did Natalie Portman announce her divorce from Benjamin Millepied?

Unique Nicole/Getty Images

Prior to getting divorced, sources say Natalie tried her best to reconcile things in her marriage to Benjamin. But, it seems like some things — like infidelity — are hard to move past. "She didn’t give up on [her marriage] lightly. But it became pretty apparent toward the end of last year that her heart had gone out of it," one person told US Weekly. Apparently Natalie started noticing a trend in her ex-husband's behavior prior to his bombshell affair because another source told the outlet that the ballet dancer "would sometimes not return home and was taking work trips that didn’t add up."
