WATCH: 7 Years of Selfies in 1 Video

Many of us use selfies to photodocument our lives, but few have the foresight to plan past what will get us the most taps on Instagram. Starting at age 12, Hugo Cornellier took a photo of himself every day for seven years. He edited together a video of every photo, showing us a time lapse view of himself then and now. Cornellier says he got the inspiration from Noah Kalina, a professional photographer who has also been taking one photo a day of himself for the past few years. The share-worthy result of Hugo’s work is this:

We love the creative spin on a “day(s) in the life” view Hugo gave, but his video wasn’t the first in the emerging genre that we’ve given the proverbial Like. Proud papa Munish Bansal took a photo of his daughter every day until she turned 18. Those 18 years transformed into this giant composite portrait featuring all 6,575 photos:

Selfies aside, this photo-a-day trend seems to be catching on with parents as a whole new way to document their little ones through the years. Dutch filmmaker Frans Hofmeester has shot videos of his two children every day for over a decade (it’s still an ongoing project) and spliced them together in two short, four-minute films. Unlike selfie stills, the use of video better allows us to see the kids’ personalities transform as well.

Of course, we’d be remiss to leave out the video that took viewers around the world in four years and ended with an engagement ring. After his very first date with his future fiancée, Jack Hyer started making a proposal video during his travels abroad. Arguably the most well-planned time lapse video ever? Next to Boyhood, obviously.

Would you ever attempt to make a time lapse video of epic proportions? What would it be about?

Nowadays, selfies are everywhere — from Apple’s latest ad campaign to profile photos to the full “selfies” folder on your iPhone, close-up photos of our faces reign supreme. A recent study published in JAMA Facial Plastic Surgerydisclosed that even a few years ago, back in 2014, people were snapping 93 billion pictures of themselves on Android phones each day; it’s mindboggling to guess how many selfies we’ve taken over the last half-decade. While selfies can be glamorous, funny, memorable, and even used as your password, researchers have also proven that they can cause unhealthy dysmorphia.

Do you like your facial features when you look in the mirror but feel like they look a little funky or not as attractive to you on your phone screen? If so, you might be observing something the researchers coined the “Selfie Effect,” which primarily causes noticeable distortion to the nose. The effect can be so dramatic that it can make your nose look 30 percent bigger than it actually is. Dr. Anthony Youn, a leading holistic plastic surgeon, explains this modern phenomenon in more detail. “Selfie dysmorphia is a term that describes an unrealistic obsession that many people have with taking selfies, getting rid of their perceived flaws with filters, and then having plastic surgery to try to look like their filtered selfies,” he schools us. “Patients actually bring their filtered and edited selfies to plastic surgeons’ offices and ask them to change their appearance to look like their altered photos.” Boris Pashkover, an assistant professor at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School’s Department of Otolaryngology and co-author of the study, cites patients coming in with selfies and asking specifically to make their noses smaller. Find this to be sad and unfortunate? Dr. Youn agrees and expresses his concern. “This is unsettling for me (as a board-certified plastic surgeon) because most millennials don’t really ‘need’ anything done.”

“People, especially millennials, need to understand that selfies are not accurate representations of how they look,” he continues. “To be honest, selfies are more like a carnival funhouse version of yourself than an accurate representation — and it all has to do with the distance between your face and the camera.” According to Dr. Youn and the study, the closer you position your face to the camera, the more you might perceive your appearance as altered. “Portrait photos are typically taken from a distance, unlike selfies, which can be captured as little as 12 inches from your face. Portrait photographers have known this for years and take their photos accordingly,” he says. “Selfies aren’t a totally accurate depiction of what a person’s face looks like, and they shouldn’t influence the decision to undergo plastic surgery,” he reiterates.

Good news, though: If you’re not thrilled with how your face or nose look in close-up pictures, moving the camera farther away will definitely help — whether you set it up somewhere and use a timer, or get yourself a selfie stick. And there’s always the option of having someone take a photo for you; the extra distance will give you a better picture that accurately depicts how flawless you really are.

Stassi Schroeder may look picture-perfect when appearing on her reality series Vanderpump Rules, but beneath that seemingly flawless complexion, she wants us to know that she’s every bit as human as the rest of us.

The Straight Up With Stassi podcast host took to Instagram stories over the weekend sans cosmetics to let fans in on a little secret: She actually suffers from psoriasis. “The psoriasis situation is not on fleek,” she said in the accompanying post video. “If anybody else suffers from this and gets it on their face, I’m with you.”

She reiterated her statements with her caption, saying, “If you suffer from Psoriaris, you ain’t alone. Sh*t sucks.”

It’s not the first time she’s opened up about the topic: Back in 2015, she shared a similar selfie while letting fans in on her big beauty secret: Ultra HD Make Up Forever Foundation ($43).

“So many of you ask what makeup I use because It “looks” like I have flawless skin,” she wrote at the time. “I don’t. And these patches are an f-ing b*tch to cover up and make me feel ugly all the time… Feel beautiful today, girls. We all have our issues.”

As she told Bravo in a subsequent interview, it’s important for her to be open with her viewers about her looks. “Because I know if I go on another girl’s blog or if I’m looking at her Instagram — I stalk tons of female celebrities too — I don’t like feeling bad about myself,” she shared. “I don’t like when people pretend everything’s perfect, it’s not… And I don’t like when women feel insecure, and I don’t want them to ever look at me and feel that way so that’s why if I need to talk about my psoriasis or the fact that I’m wearing pairs of Spanx, fine.”

Her sentiments echo that of Lorde’s, who shared her own struggles with acne just last week. Kudos to both ladies for showing us all that even with our perceived “flaws,” we’re still beautiful in every way!

Every Gilmore Girls fan remembers exactly where they were when they heard THOSE final four words at the end of Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. You know the ones — Lorelai and Rory are sitting on the steps of the gazebo, when Rory says, "Mom?" "Yeah?" Lorelai replies. "I'm pregnant." I'M SORRY?!

Some fans think the writers' decision to have Rory get pregnant traps her in an "embarrassingly depressing" cycle, while others think it's a beautiful way to tie the story back to its beginning. But while it's been all but confirmed the baby is Logan's, one Reddit theory actually ties Rory's pregnancy to Paris of all people — and it makes the ending so much better.

Keep reading for the Rory and Paris Gilmore Girls theory would totally change the ending.

This 'Gilmore Girls' theory centers Rory and Paris (as it should).

According to @floatingwithobrien on Reddit, "Logan isn't the dad. Neither is Jess or the Wookiee or Paul or Dean or Colin or Finn or Robert."

You'll remember that in the "Summer" episode of the Netflix miniseries, Rory hopes that Paris, who runs a fertility clinic, might "let me be one of her surrogates. She's always liked my teeth."

"Maybe Rory simply chose a particularly dramatic way of informing her mother of this new career," the Reddit user continues. "Are you all happy now? I gave you an out. Rory isn't going to be a mom, she's a surrogate, because she needs the cash. She has been artificially inseminated so she can sell the resultant child to a couple in need. (For anyone sensitive about fertility issues, this is a hard /s, just FYI.)"

This theory totally reframes those final four words because considering so much of Lorelai's story involves her feeling like she had no choice, making Rory a surrogate gives her ultimate agency over her life. "Paris is the dad (so to speak)," @floatingwithobrien says. "Eat it up, kids."

And other fans are totally running with it! "Finally someone else thinks this too!" prosperosniece says. "My guess is that Rory is carrying a baby for Michel in exchange for money to get her masters degree so she can teach at Chilton."

However, BrownieEdges points out that "she’s not selfless enough to carry a baby for someone else." Yikes.

But if the baby really is Logan's, and Rory raises them, Lauren Graham has her "own fantasy" for how A Year in the Life season 2 could open.

"I think it's gonna be a girl and I think she calls her another permutation of Lorelai, cause you know Rory's short for Lorelai," she said during her Have I Told You This Already? book tour. "And I'm gonna go with Lola. I made all of that up, don't get me in trouble!"

Baby Lola!! I just know that Lorelai would make a fantastic grandmother, and she'd totally spoil her granddaughter with tons of coffee and incredible music. (Plus killer fashion accessories). Scott Patterson told me he's "always hopeful" for a Gilmore Girls revival so hopefully one day we'll find out what Lorelai and Rory's life looks like in 2025!

Jurassic World: Rebirth is hitting theaters this summer and I cannot stop thinking about how good Jonathan Bailey looks. The Bridgerton actor stars as paleontologist Dr. Henry Loomis alongside Scarlett Johansson's Zora and Mahershala Ali's Duncan Kincaid. Together, the team is tasked with getting DNA samples after the world has become inhospitable to dinosaurs. But, naturally, all the internet can talk about is Jonathan Bailey. (Relatable).

Here's your first look at Jonathan Bailey & the Jurassic World: Rebirth trailer.

The Jurassic World: Rebirth trailer introduces us to a whole new team.

I had high hopes for the Jurassic World: Rebirth trailer and my oh my did it deliver. Scarlett Johansson and Jonathan Bailey were born to play the roles of Zora and Henry, and not only are they electric together onscreen but they are so believable. And Jonathan with his little sweater and glasses? I'm not super into science and I'd listen to that man all day long.

We also finally get a glimpse at the dinosaurs we'll see in Jurassic World 4 and honestly? They're terrifying. That being said, I'm gonna go watch the trailer again.

Jonathan Bailey and Scarlett Johansson team up for a brand new mission.

In the latest image, Scarlett Johansson looks on while Jonathan Bailey examines what looks like an egg from a giant nest. And considering these two are finding DNA samples from three giant land, sea, and air creatures, it's safe to assume a dinosaur isn't far off.

While revealing the image on The Today Show, Scarlett couldn't help but gush over her costar. "How cute is Jonathan Bailey? He's the best person, he's a dreamboat," she says. "Does he love you too? He has those kind of eyes...He's the best!"

Jasin Boland/Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment

I already know that ScarJo and Jonny Bailey are going to make the ultimate team. But social media's favorite part of this whole movie is Jonathan's glasses.

"I can’t believe we’re getting a Jurassic Park movie with Jonathan Bailey in slutty glasses," one X user said. "The T Rex doesn’t stand a chance."

Oh what I wouldn't give to have Jonathan Bailey gaze into my eyes while working to save the world.

Jasin Boland/Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment

And nobody is going to kick butt like Mahershala Ali. I'd trust this man with my life.
