See How Your Fave Celebs Used Fashion to Celebrate International Women’s Day

International Women’s Day is a time to celebrate the countless achievements of women. Women around the world — and even a few of our go-to brands — have been celebrating in various ways, whether it’s marching, posting to social media, donating sales proceeds, or simply showing their support with their fashion choices. Of course, a selection of outspoken celebs took to Instagram to show their sartorial support.

1. Emma Watson: The Beauty and the Beast actress is celebrating by curating National Geographic‘s Instagram feed, sharing photos taken by female photographers all over the world — and sporting a red satin blazer featuring the words, “Girls just wanna have fundamental human rights.”

2. Lucy Hale: The Pretty Little Liars alum wore the “Phenomenal Woman” tee. The famous quote is taken from Maya Angelou’s iconic poem reading, “I’m a woman, phenomenally. Phenomenal woman, that’s me.” You can snag it for yourself from phenomenal.ly for $35. Hale said, “Over the last year, we’ve seen an unprecedented movement for women’s rights, and one thing is clear — our time is now. We are phenomenal, and we will make the world a better place for all women.”

3. Hilary Duff: Duff’s new glasses for Glasses USA will have $5 of their proceeds donated to FREE THE GIRLS, an organization that helps “reintegrate female sex-trafficking victims into their communities.”

4. Ashley Graham: The model wore black in her International Women’s Day post, like the attendees for the Golden Globes. She posed with her fellow Revlon Live Boldly spokesmodels in a campaign which “seeks to inspire women to express themselves with passion, optimism, strength, and style.” “On #InternationalWomensDay, I’m excited to be part of this bold group of amazing #LiveBoldly women!” the trendsetter explained.

5. Reese Witherspoon: Witherspoon’s lippie makes a major statement. She explained in a Facebook video that she’s been working on a limited-edition lipstick with Elizabeth Arden with proceeds going to the United Nations Women’s Fund. According to Witherspoon, Arden is the “creator of wearing red lipstick as an act of feminism.”

6. Julianne Hough: The Dancing With the Stars judge also wore the Maya Angelou tee as she echoed a similar sentiment to Hale and added, “We are PHENOMENAL, we are POWERFUL in our own unique and feminine ways, and we will make the world a better place for all women!”

7. Vanessa Hudgens: The Powerless actress wore a black motorcycle cap with red and white drawstring pants and a T-shirt with women marching and bearing signs with a photo caption that simply read, “We be marching.”

8. Alexa Chung: The British writer, host, model, and fashion designer went meta with a T-shirt that featured her wearing a T-shirt that said “Feminist” from 2015.

What better day than today, International Women's Day, to support women who are breaking boundaries and sharing stories?! Pop some popcorn, snuggle up in a blanket, and watch some of the incredible talent working to make our media more inclusive, diverse, and, frankly, entertaining, than ever before. Netflix is a perfect one-stop shop for a broad selection of inspiring movies and television series, so let's dig in.

Becoming

Courtesy of Netflix

Directed by Nadia Hallren, this documentary is partly based on the book by the same name. It follows First Lady Michelle Obama on her 34-city book tour and shows some of her work while she was in office, and provides a deeper look into her life.

Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery

Courtesy of John Wilson/Netflix

This whodunit is perfect for anyone who wants to travel abroad this summer, but in addition to enough mystery to go around, Glass Onion is actually a really empowering International Women's Day movie. All the women in this movie are standouts, but it's really Janelle Monáe's Andi that makes the biggest impression.

Ginny & Georgia

Courtesy of Netflix

This mom-and-daughter duo may seem like the new Gilmore Girls, but they're more than meets the eye. Created by Sarah Lampert, Ginny & Georgia shows these women taking control of their lives and we love any story that focuses on a mom and daughter relationship. Catch up on the first two seasons before Ginny & Georgia season 3 premieres!

To All The Boys I've Loved Before

Courtesy of Netflix

Things change for Lara Jean Covey when her five secret love letters are mailed out. The To All The Boys trilogy (based on the books by Jenny Han) is great if you're a sucker for snappy one-liners and John Hughes references, and the Covey sisters' relationships are just as great as the romantic ones.

Jane the Virgin

Image via The CW

International Women's Day is all about celebrating womanhood, and our ability to create our own destiny. What better Netflix show to watch than Jane the Virgin, which features Gina Rodriguez' Jane *literally* writing her own story? This series is heartfelt, romantic, and outright hilarious.

GLOW

Courtesy of Netflix

And if you haven't given the ladies of GLOW (created by Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch) a go yet, you should know it's not just a triumphant look at the real-life women of the professional wrestling world of the '80s — it also happens to be just a ton of butt-kicking fun.

Mudbound

Courtesy of Netflix

Mudbound is directed by Dee Rees, the first Black woman to be nominated for best adapted screenplay at the Oscars. It also boasts the work of cinematographer Rachel Morrison, the first woman ever nominated for best cinematography at the Oscars.

Feel the Beat

Courtesy of Netflix

Directed by Elissa Down and Produced by Susan Cartsonis, Feel the Beat revolves around April, who leaves NYC after an embarrassing audition video goes viral. She starts instructing the local dance team, hoping they'll get a chance to compete in front of Broadway legend Welly Wong. What follows is pure, heartwarming goodness that makes this a perfect International Women's Day movie.

Self Made

Courtesy of Netflix

Based by A'Lelia Bundles' On Her Own Ground, this limited series stars Octavia Spencer as Madam C.J. Walker, who revolutionized Black haircare and became the first Black, female, self-made millionaire. This one's for the period drama lovers!

Do Revenge

Courtesy of Kim Simms/Netflix

This Netflix movie is campy, candy-colored, and filled to the brim with '90s references. It also centers female experiences and relationships, which makes it a great International Women's Day pick.

Queen Charlotte

Courtesy of Liam Daniel/Netflix

Remind your friends that they're royalty (not to mention yourself!) by binging Queen Charlotte on Netflix. The Bridgerton prequel follows the titular queen as she marries the future King George and changes the course of society forever.

I can't always make it out to the salon when it comes to my nails — and I definitely don't have the time to give myself a full-blown manicure at home — so I'm always looking for cute press-on options to wear. From almond-shaped to abstract designs, there are so many sets I can't get enough of.

But I have a secret: I've also figured out how to make them last a little longer. I mean, that's always everyone's gripe with them, so why not share what I know? So scroll on to find all my favorite press-on nails you can find right now — plus the best glue to use to make them stay!

Find all the best press-on nails that'll save you a trip to the salon!

Olive and June

Olive and June Pink Checker Party Press-On Nails

This one's for the girls who love a little mix-and-match nail art and don't want to wear anything unless it's festive or bold. These easy-to-apply nails are the quickest way to achieve nails you'll be proud of without sitting for hours at the salon.

SALT

SALT French - Merlot

Content Editor Haley Sprankle says these nails are the realest looking press-ons she's ever used. Honestly, she feels like they look more real than some full sets she's had done at the salon! And with clear glue, you don't have to worry about having a bunch of white glue all over your fingers once you're done applying them.

Lilac St.

Lilac St. Seeing Stars Press-On Nails

These short and sweet almond nails are the classic French manicure we love to see, but there's also a bit of sparkle to them. They'll take you from your 9-5 to dinner with your friends without feeling like they're making too much of a statement.

Olive and June

Olive and June Linear Hearts Press-On Nails

Valentine's Day has come early with these short and sweet press-on nails. They have a minimal feel that'll also work with all of your winter outfits. I love the cute little hearts because they're not overly stated, but still manage to hold their own!

Amazon

KISS imPRESS No Glue Mani Press-On Nails

If you've finally sifted through Christmas dresses to find the perfect one to wear to that holiday party you've been waiting on, wear these cute press-on nails to complete your look.

P.S. Wear the sparkle design on your ring finger if you suspect you may get a surprise proposal.

Ulta

OPI Feelin' Capricorn-y xPRESS/On Big Zodiac

These press-on nails are strictly for Capricorns who are patiently waiting for their birthdays. Everyone you know will be green with envy when they see you wearing them, but that won't be your problem.

Amazon

Chillhouse Sea Siren Press-On Nails Kit

Are you waiting for the day you'll be able to take a dip in your pool or the ocean during vacation? I hear ya and know just what you need to hold you over until summer: reflective sea-inspired press-on nails. They may not completely cure your longing, but they'll look cool against your skin and outfits.

SALT

SALT Butterfly Press-On Nails - Red

Isn't this design so adorable? Content Editor Haley Sprankle wore these for her birthday this year, and she'd never gotten more compliments on her nails before! Definitely grab these to make a darling statement!

Amazon

Glamnetic Press-On Nails

No one ever needs a reason to wear super girly nails, but I'll give you one anyway: you deserve to wear something that feels carefree and quirky every once in a while.

Amazon

PaintLab Press-On Nails Manicure Kit

Tortoiseshell nails are such a vibe in my eyes. They're the moody accessory you'll fall in love with and can apply at home in no time!

Amazon

Chillhouse Fruit Hoops Press-On Nails

Ah, more fun abstract nails! They also remind me of summers in the sun so I'm sure I'll personally be stashing them in my beauty draw until the beginning of spring.

Walmart

Salon Perfect Glazed Press-On Nails

Give yourself the gift of metallic press-on nails that feel on par with the holidays. They're short enough to allow you to do everyday tasks, but have the right amount of shimmer for date nights.

Walmart

KISS imPRESS Holiday Press-On Nails

Need more Christmas inspo? These press-on nails are going to give you that and then some. They remind me of the sweet treats I see at my local bakery, but I don't suggest anyone try to see if they taste good.

Walmart

Paintlab Reusable Gel Press-On Nails

Sometimes you just want to wear nails that feel like your niece or young cousin could've designed them. Actually, I'm sure my niece drew something similar this year.

Ulta

OPI Nail Heart xPRESS/On Nail Art Press-On Nails

These nails have a hint of color that'll match your rosy cheeks this winter. The more I think about it, the more I feel it's a great idea to use them as beauty inspo for your next makeup look.

Amazon

Here's what to use if you want your press-on nails to stay put

Most press-on nail kits include a standard nail file/buffer and nail glue, but I've recently discovered something that makes sure nails don't budge: brush-on nail glue. It's easier to make sure the glue doesn't spill over the sides of the nails when you press down on them and it seems like they're made of the strongest ingredients that makes your temporary manicure last longer!

In honor of International Women's Day (and month!), we're finding ways to celebrate and inspire all of the leading ladies in our life. That's why we've teamed up with Cambria Estate Winery, a female-led and operated winery leading the way toward empowering women in their industry. From sparking meaningful conversation to serving an amazing bottle of wine, we'll help you prep for hosting an outdoor get-together, in-person soirée, or Zoom call that will leave everyone feeling confident, energized, and empowered. Ready?

Celebrate International Women's Day With These Fun Ideas

Tip 1: Build a group playlist of your all-time favorite feminist anthems.

Good tunes can make or break the mood of a get-together, but there's no need to play DJ all night. The best hosts do a little work up front to make sure they can join in once the good conversation starts! Before you Zoom or have a few pod friends over, set up a shared playlist and ask each of your attendees to add their go-to empowering female artists to the musical line-up. You'll end the night with the knowledge of new songs and feel accomplished knowing that you all contributed to the party. Here's our Female Empowerment Playlist to get the evening started.

Tip 2: Invite everyone to bring a book that has impacted their year and inspired them to take action. Share + swap for good measure.

With 2023 in full swing, everyone is already itching to see what the year has in store. Your best gals have amazing taste and will know just what to recommend to motivate one another to make a difference. Allow each friend a moment to share about their newest book and make the trades. Bonus points if you have a take-home goodie to give, like this mouth-watering english toffee!

Tip 3: Treat your ladies to a bottle from a female-operated winery.

Everybody knows that the best conversations happen over a nice bottle of wine. This get-together is no exception. You'll want to stock up on our go-tos: Cambria Julia's Vineyard Pinot Noir and Cambria Katherine's Vineyard Chardonnay. Don't forget to mention to your pals that by sipping, they're also supporting a winery that recognizes and inspires female leaders. Unlike many others in the industry, Cambria Winery is women-owned and operated from top to bottom! Sounds like a win-win.

Tip 4: Serving a Pinot Noir? Pair it with a simple chicken recipe, like this Cheesy Mustard Chicken.

The hearty flavor of the chicken will pair well with the flavor notes in a red wine, like Cambria Julia's Vineyard Pinot Noir. See the full recipe in our chicken breast recipe roundup and get ready to impress your guests!

Tip 5: For a Chardonnay, whip up some smoked salmon deviled eggs.

These picnic apps are a modern twist on a classic recipe (move over, paprika!) and will complement a tropically lush white wine, like Cambria Katherine's Vineyard Chardonnay. You'll score extra kudos for serving a dish that is low-carb too! Get the full recipe here.

Tip 6: Use ice breakers that will prompt purposeful discussion.

When you’re surrounded by smart and interesting women, there’s no need to default to chit-chat about the weather.Help your guests skip the small talk in favor of some more stimulating dialogue by posing a few conversation starters throughout the evening:

What women inspire you and why?

What qualities make a great female leader?

How are we teaching the young girls in our lives to be strong women?

How do you want to make an impact this year?

Leave room to hear each unique perspective by separating into smaller conversations or going around the room in a group setting.

Tip 7: Most importantly: Remind your pals why you value their friendship and take time to encourage them.

Use the evening as an opportunity to lift up the women in your life for their strengths and courage. After all, your ultimate goal for the night is that everyone will leave feeling appreciated and inspired to continue to grow and lead!

Will you host an outdoor get-together or Zoom for your fave ladies? Share your International Women's Day plans with us on Twitter by tagging @BritandCo and @CambriaWines.

It's the most wonderful time of the year: awards show season! We're getting closer to seeing the Oscars, the Grammys, and the Golden Globes celebrate the best movies, music, and TV shows of 2024, and we finally know who's up for the Golden Globes. The program will air on CBS and Paramount+ January 5 at 8 pm EST.

Even though this awards show is usually an indicator of what the Oscar nominations will look like, my group chats aren't so sure — some of these nominations (and snubs) are such wild cards!

Keep reading to see all the 2025 Golden Globe nominations — and snubs.

The Most Shocking Snubs & Surprises Of The 2025 Golden Globes Nominations

Netflix

To no one's surprise, The Bear led amongst its competition with 5 nominations, followed closely by four nominations for both Shōgun and Only Murders in the Building. And Selena Gomez's Emilia Pérez got 10 nominations!

Some notable snubs of this year's Golden Globes include leaving Wicked's Jon M. Chu and Dune 2's Denis Villeneuve out of the director category (which baffles me even more after Greta Gerwig's Barbie snub at the Oscars), Sing Sing in the screenplay category, and Saoirse Ronan in the acting categories even though the Oscar-nominated actress was in both The Outrun and Blitz!

As far as surprises go, September 5 is nominated for Best Picture, despite the fact it hasn't been released yet. And, okay I know Wicked already announced they'd be submitting Cynthia Erivo for a lead actress and Ariana Grande for supporting, but my group chats STILL can't believe it! Also Zendaya being nominated in lead actress in a comedy/musical for Challengers...since when is Challengers a comedy?!

Did any 2025 Golden Globe nomination (or snub) surprise you? Let us know in the comments!

I've always loved a pop of blue, red, or yellow in an otherwise neutral space. And while I admire anyone who can masterfully combine all three, blue has always been my clear favorite. Now, IKEA has officially crowned 'Electric Blue' as their 2025 Color of the Year. Inspired by the seas and skies, Electric Blue is a hue that IKEA describes as “contemplative and calm, yet versatile enough for modern and traditional spaces.”

Whether you’re looking to refresh a bedroom, energize a living room, or add a cool pop to your kitchen, this happy, bold shade delivers in the form of wall art, plush throws, or statement-making furniture. The best part? It plays well with others. Pair it with sunny yellows, vibrant oranges, soft lavenders, or even a daring hot pink. Will you be embracing this blue wave in 2025?
