Why This Gemstone Will Change Your Beauty Routine

From sheet masks that look like something straight out of a horror movie to smearing *ahem* rendered beef fat on your face (what!), skincare trends have gotten a little crazy as of late. So part of us was relieved to learn that the latest buzzing skincare move was something that didn’t require nerves of steel (or at least, wasn’t something that would *totally* freak out your roommates). In fact, it’s actually pretty, well, pretty, and looks reeeeally soothing. We’re talking about jade rolling.

This isn’t a new phenomenon by any means: Jade has been around for 7,000 years and is revered in Eastern cultures the way diamonds are in the West. Unlike diamonds, however, the stone itself is said to contain healing properties that can help your skin as well as vital minerals and a steady energy that complement human wavelengths, resulting in some pretty great improvements beyond the beauty realm too.

Jade-rolling fanatics claim that the process can help you reduce facial inflammation, drain toxins and increase blood flow, not to mention calm nerves and strengthen your immunity… just to name a few! And the best part about it might be that it’s so easy to do. Once you have a roller with an attachment in your hand (we like this one that comes with a beginner’s guide + facial serum), all you need to do is gently roll it across the areas that need some attention, no intense pressure needed. We’re envisioning this being a great way to unwind after a stressful day — its a five-minute beauty hack you can easily add to your before-bed routine, or even keep near the bathtub to productively (and luxuriously) pass the time. Want more instruction? We found three YouTubers who can help you out.

1. Blusher and Blogging: The very adorable Brit beauty vlogger Susie Amy reviews the Ying Yu Jade Facial Roller and suggests that for best results, you should roll outwards across the face and up the neck. She also recommends putting it in the fridge and rolling the cooled jade across the back of your neck if you’re hungover. Genius!

2. YingYuJade: Could jade rolling be as affective as Botox? This user claims it gets the job done for her on areas of her face that matter most, like the forehead and under the eyes, which might be the reason this video has almost 30,000 views.

3. Dan Cohen: This Studio City, California practice provides holistic health care, including using jade rolling to specifically help with lymphatic drainage. For their in-office treatments, they start around the lymphatic nodes, specifically the collar bone and the area by the ears. It’s an add -n we won’t hesitate to ask for the next time we get a massage.

Have you tried jade rolling? Tell us in the comments!

Hot Ones: it’s the show with hot questions, and even hotter wings.” It's the mantra for the best online interview series, hosted by First We Feast. Hot Ones is a slightly different – and dare I say devilish – interview show, and has become *pretty* iconic in the realm of great web series. The episodes always bring the humor, plus host Sean’ Evans' interviewing skills are impressively unmatched.

Evans comes in hot AF on his guests with deep-dive questions as they move through the interview eating hot wings of varying spice levels. The stakes rise higher as they scale the Scovilles and interview questions amp up, a combo which usually unravels guests (unless you’re Lorde) in a super comedic fashion.

Though I wouldn’t wish the Hot Ones spice challenge upon myself (or anyone I care about) it makes for a unique concept that I can’t help but keep coming back to. Seeing your favorite celebrities reveal their authentic selves in an interview while ingesting insane amounts of spice is always a fun time.

If you're new to Hot Ones or may have missed some of the standout moments from the 400 episode-long series, I handpicked a few of the best episodes to give you a boost of humor this week. Check out our faves below, and keep an eye out for more awesome celeb guests coming this year!

Amelia Dimoldenberg

The queen of chicken herself, Chicken Shop Date host Amelia Dimoldenberg, appeared on this week's episode of Hot Ones and we can't get enough! Right off the bat, Sean calls her his "chicken-fueled talk show host, sister in arms" which was so funny, I had to rewind. They talk about how she interacts with her own guests, surprising props, and her iconic red carpet interviews. In her signature chaos, Amelia breaks out a portable fan to try and cool her tongue, but she actually does remarkably well compared to the tears and freak outs we've seen before!

*NSYNC

Justin Timberlake, Chris Kirkpatrick, JC Chasez, Lance Bass, and Joey Fatone, AKA *NSYNC stepped up to the Hot Ones challenge, beating the record for most wings on the table before they even took their first bite. In this episode, they talk about the making of their new single, “Better Place,” what it’s like to be in a boyband (although now, they’re more of a manband), crazy fan experience, and the infamous Star Wars casting rumors.

Sean and the boys struggle hilariously through the last of the hot sauces, but the crew still manages to answer all of the questions. Whether you were a die-hard fan of *NSYNC or only caught the tail-end of their Y2K run, you just can’t miss this monumental episode of Hot Ones.

Gwyneth Paltrow

Award-winning actor, best-selling cookbook author, and the founder and CEO of Goop, Gwyneth Paltrow, wasn't too enthused about the hot sauce-drenched wings in front of her when she first sat down at the Hot Ones table.

"I am full of regret," she says at the start. "I can't believe I'm here... I like hot sauce, I like spicy, but I don't think I'm equipped to be here." LOL, same! That's exactly what we'd say if we were on Hot Ones.

Though she hesitantly approaches the wing line-up throughout the interview, Gwyneth offers thoughtful insights on running a business, dishes on behind-the-scenes deets from her film work, and even reveals a best-kept secret cocktail recipe from the Paltrow family! This interview is totally worth watching to the end – Sean and Gwyneth team up for a hilarious post-show segment.

Jennifer Lawrence

J Law enters the Hot Ones ring looking iconic and glowy AF. The beaming look she begins with slowly turns to a glistening sweat, though, as she wades her way through the sauce lineup. The anecdotes she gives about her career throughout the interview (that watches more like a playful conversation between good friends) all testify to her commitment to acting. For example, she’s coughed up her swallowed nose ring on set *right* in front of Leo DiCaprio, and has torn her literal diaphragm while filming Mother. She’s increasingly “a little hurt” by the Hot Ones spice, but a little turns into a lot once Sean leads her to Da Bomb Beyond Insanity. We’re constantly amazed by Jennifer’s previous projects (like Silver Lining’s Playbook, The Hunger Games, and American Hustle), but feel just a tad curious about her Chili Pizza Sandwich concoction.

Rosalía

Rosalía states that she’s not really a hot sauce person before her Hot Ones interview starts, and as the spice grows, she discovers the “disturbing” nature of the show. The singer-songwriter’s energy is delightful and silly in general, so seeing her be herself while eating hot AF wings is just as fun in this episode. She runs through an entertaining anecdote about her time being a singer-for-hire in Barcelona, her favorite emotion-inducing instruments, and teaches us how to describe devilishly hot and spicy food in Spanish.

Megan Thee Stallion

Whatever Megan Thee Stallion does, I truly support and love her. She's a model, singer, rapper, fashion and beauty icon, and comedian rolled into one stunning and talented women. She always keeps it real, especially on her 2021 episode of Hot Ones. While literally indulging in some hot girl sh*t with the show's spice-filled sauce lineup, Megan carries on an engaging conversation about her love of anime, the top sonic influences to her music style, and music video behind-the-scenes. The moments where she's falling apart from the spice and needs to reel things back in are the funniest.

Paul Rudd

If you were anywhere on the internet when Paul Rudd's Hot Ones episode came out, you obviously know the iconic "hey, look at us" line that was meme'd for seemingly forever. Aside from relishing in those few seconds, and watching Paul be the super handsome actor, writer, producer and heartthrob he is, Sean leads a conversation that makes the episode barely an interview. It carries out so naturally, and the video feels like him and Paul are just two best pals hanging out. By the end, they pretty much are besties. The best moment from Paul Rudd's episode falls at the end of the video – watch the last minute, hot sauce-induced improv acting challenge play out above.

Lizzo

Musician, rapper, beauty queen, Instagram icon, and Yitty CEO Lizzo hopped on Hot Ones last summer to chat all things music theory, red carpet fashion and career starts. Among insightful responses about how formal music training shaped her budding career, and talk about the cities with the best music scenes, Sean pops off with a mega-throwback Lizzo fact. His hardcore interview research often surprises guests, and Lizzo's case is no exception. Watch as Sean throws Nardwuar-like interview knowledge at Lizzo about her first years as an underground rapper, and how well she excitedly receives it.

Viola Davis

Acting and producing powerhouse Viola Davis delivered some truly unfiltered reactions to the Hot Ones sauce lineup. Between gracefully answered questions about her background in theater, and what goes into making a movie like The Woman King, Viola's responses to the spice just adds so much magic to the already amazing interview. She starts getting scared around the 69,000 Scoville mark, so the fact that she kept composure that far in to the episode is amazing. The best quote from Viola from this series? "My lips are burning off... and I've got some lips."

Midsommar and A Good Person actress Florence Pugh is scared of the hot sauce lineup from the start of her episode. Shockingly, she powers through the Scovilles with only a trace of her initial hesitance. Her sweat-filled episode first dives into the real behind-the-scenes of eating on camera with a hilarious Flo anecdote from the set of Hawkeye – she got to eat mac n cheese all day at work, which is a true dream of ours. Just have to LOL. Flo throws out recipe pairing ideas for each hot sauce she and Sean enjoy down the line, which shows her chef’s headspace, a la Cooking With Flo. This 2023 episode leaves her in legit tears and sweat.. But we’d be in the same exact state after all that!

Gordon Ramsey

For maybe the most highly anticipated Hot Ones round, multi-Michelin star holder and restauranteur Gordon Ramsay stepped up to the sauces. Of course he had to harshly critique the Hot Ones wings themselves, and with the spiciest sauces they're coated in. The episode is full of snarky banter between Gordon and Sean, and of course, a healthy amount of spice-retaliating profanity. Jokes aside, the fact that you can tell each of them is having an absolute ball in the interview is my favorite part. But, the segment where Sean makes scrambled eggs for Gordon is pretty funny, too.

Mille Bobby Brown

Millie Bobby Brown of Stranger Things and Enola Holmes joined Hot Ones in 2022 for a pretty panic-filled episode. She was smooth sailing until the duo chowed down on the Da Domb hot sauce about halfway through the interview. From then on, it was pure melodrama and pain. Millie thought she had it at the beginning, when she makes a stab at Tom Holland's Hot Ones performance, but it subsequently all crumbles under her, and the irony is hilarious.

Emma Chamberlain

Miss Emma Chamberlain approaches the beginning of her Hot Ones episode with the utmost confidence, and the chemistry she has with Sean throughout the episode makes for a charming watch. Sean's questions explore the range outside of Emma's YouTube career (though their discussion about editing styles is pretty neat), tapping into coffee nerd moments from her brand Chamberlain Coffee, exploring her famous Architectural Digest home renovations, and even chatting about homemade nut milk. Emma slowly ends up in tears due to the Scoville spices and resorts to praying to the ghosts of Hot Ones guests past, but she rocked the challenge either way.

Khloe Kardashian

Khloe K prefaces her Hot Ones visit by admitting that she doesn't eat chicken or hot sauce, which gives the impression that she probably won't be able to handle the heat with ease. The episode quickly proves that assumption wrong, and she goes all the way without reasonable struggle. Sean talks with Khloe about the behind-the-scenes workings of reality TV and her perspectives on lifelong fame, which made the episode a really eye-opening experience for me. It's entertaining to watch Khloe succumb to the spice, because we don't usually see the more authentic side of a highly-tailored personality like hers. You can tell Sean wants to learn a lot in his interviews, and in Khloe's case, he gets curious about self-care, and hilariously whips out a notepad to take notes on her coveted skincare advice.

The chokehold Trader Joe's has on me is atrocious. They truly can do no wrong with their wide array of snacks and sweet treats, and I really appreciate that my TJ's grocery hauls are typically way cheaper than if I did my shopping elsewhere. Trader Joe's is packed to the brim with delicious, life-changing finds under $10. So, if you're balling on a budget (but still want to make room for a lil' 'treat yourself' time), look no further than this list of my absolute favorite finds!

Let's dive into the best Trader Joe's buys you can add to your cart for under $10!

Trader Joe's

Organic Joe Medium Roast Ground Coffee

For just $6.99, Trader Joe's medium roast coffee tastes divine. No matter how you brew it, I promise you'll be thoroughly impressed.

Non-Dairy Oat Creamer Gingerbread

Trader Joe's collection of $1.99 non-dairy creamers are all delicious, but this limited-time seasonal offering is the literal cream of the crop.

Trader Joe's

Teeny Tiny Pecan Pies

Nothing says 'bougie' quite like finger foods do. Take the sweet route with this grouping of $4.99 tiny pecan pies!

Trader Joe's

Shaved Parmesan, Romano & Asiago Cheeses

I love topping salads, pastas, and soups with this $3.49 blend of shredded cheeses. Once it gets melty is where the fun really begins.

Trader Joe's

Cheesy Herby Biscuits

Biscuits are undoubtedly a considerably fancy thing to make yourself, but luckily you don't have to put in all that effort just to please a crowd, thanks to this $4.99 box o' biscuits!

Trader Joe's

Butter with Brown Sugar & Maple Syrup

This $2.99 butter infused with brown sugar and maple syrup will instantly elevate any piece of toast or baking project you've got going on.

Trader Joe's

Dark Chocolate Ganache Mini Sheet Cake

I'm simply obsessed with these $4.99 sheet cakes from Trader Joe's. They come in all kinds of flavors, but who can ever resist chocolate?! This is an easy (yet impressive) grab-and-go buy to bring to the office for your team or to share with the fam at home after a long week.

Trader Joe's

Truffle Dip

In my mind, truffle equates to some real fancy stuff. So, I was pleasantly surprised to see that this creamy dip was just $5.49!

Trader Joe's

Steamed Vegetable Soup Dumplings

I will live and die on the hill that Trader Joe's soup dumplings are some of the best ready-made options around. This $3.49 box is my go-to if I simply don't feel like cooking dinner (which happens more than I'd like to admit), but still want something warm that's gonna fill me up.

Trader Joe's

Sliced Black Truffle Monterey Jack Cheese

Another fun truffle find! Kick your grilled cheeses up a notch for just $4.99.

Trader Joe's

Creamy Spinach & Artichoke Dip

This is another one of my TJ's must-haves. If I don't buy this $3.79 box every single time I go, I at least buy it every other visit. Yummm.

Trader Joe's

They are not kidding when they say this ice cream is a true coffee blast. It's so full on flavor, luxuriously creamy, and for just $4.49 a pint, I think that's pretty dang good.

Chocolate Brooklyn Babka

This rich babka bread is laced with lotsa chocolate. You can get the loaf for $5.99, but beware: it's gonna go fast.

Trader Joe's

Bourbon Vanilla Bean Paste

This bourbon-y vanilla bean paste is so fun to use for cookies, muffins, cupcakes, and the like. It has a perfect smoky, woody finish (but still sweet), plus a little goes a very long way. Snag it at your local TJ's for $4.99.

Trader Joe's

Speculoos Cookie Butter

I fear I could eat this entire jar of cookie butter in one sitting. It always tastes expertly crafted and undeniably sweet. I love putting it on toast, ice cream, and even in my morning coffee. The jar sells at $3.99!

Trader Joe's

Candy Cane Green Tea

This $2.79 green tea has become a wintertime staple for me since I discovered it at Trader Joe's last year. I've already bought 3 boxes to stock up for the season.

When you connect with a fictional character, and that character dies within their story, it's actually very normal to experience real feelings of grief. Author Oscar Wilde wrote that one of his "greatest tragedies" was the death of the fictional Lucien de Rubempré. He was so upset about it, in fact, that "it haunts me in my moments of pleasure. I remember it when I laugh." And that was in 1899!

If you're a TV fan, you probably know this pain first hand because we've had to say goodbye to a ton of characters in the last few years. After Outer Banks lost one of its beloved characters on November 7, fans flooded social media, proclaiming they felt like they'd lost someone from their own real life. And based on this Reddit thread of the TV deaths that "totally destroyed you emotionally,"OBX fans are definitely not alone. Do you agree with these picks? (Spoilers ahead! But you knew that.)

Keep reading for the most upsetting TV deaths we're still recovering from.

JJ Maybank from 'Outer Banks'

Jackson Lee Davis/Netflix

Okay, considering this one's the most recent, I have to lead with it. Rudy Pankow's JJ died in the final episode of Outer Banks season 4, which was extra devastating for viewers hoping to see a happy ending with Madison Bailey's Kiara. One viewer told me "it feels almost like the show died along with him." Woof.

Marissa Cooper in 'The OC'

Warner Bros. TV

The OC's Marissa and Ryan are one of the ultimate 'ships of the early-2000s...so watching her die in his arms at the end of season 3 almost made me stop believing in love.

Sarah Miller on 'The Last of Us'

Shane Harvey/HBO

Sarah's future is literally so bright when we meet her in The Last of Us. She's spunky and clever, which makes her end one of the saddest TV deaths in recent history. And the fact Joel (Pedro Pascal) screaming "Tommy help me!" was improvised? I need 5-7 business days to process.

Glen Rhee from 'The Walking Dead'

Gene Page/AMC

Viewers of this zombie show will never forget Glen's (Steven Yeun) death-by-baseball-bat, which came in season 7, episode 1. "I couldn't watch that show anymore after that," one Reddit user admitted.

Charlie Pace from 'Lost'

ABC/Disney

The way Dominic Monaghan brought complexity to the character of Charlie — and made everyone fall in love with him — is a really beautiful thing. Even if his death marked the end of an era in the show. "A lot of the LOST deaths were sad, but that one was brutal," another Reddit user adds.

Joyce Summers in 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer'

Warner Bros. TV

The only thing worse than losing your favorite character is seeing them suffer a loss. Case in point: Buffy losing her mom in season 5, episode 16 of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Despite the fact this episode aired 23 years ago, it's still "TOO SOON"for some.

Lydia James on 'One Tree Hill'

Warner Bros. TV

Speaking of moms, watching Haley deal with her mom's death throughout One Tree Hill season 7 is one of the most heartbreaking arcs on TV. I'm so glad she has Nathan to lean on, but it doesn't make it any easier to watch.

Hodor in 'Game of Thrones'

HBO

Game of Thrones is literally filled with tragedy, so when a character death leaves its fans speechless, that's how you know it was a bold choice! "I cry everytime :(," one Reddit user says.

Catelyn & Robb Stark from 'Game of Thrones'

HBO

Another GOT death we're still reeling from? Catelyn and Robb Stark at the Red Wedding. TBH, everyone from the Red Wedding #iykyk.

Bellamy Blake on 'The 100'

The CW

I'm pretty sure The 100 fans all thought the same thing when we got to the final episode of the show: "What?!" To spend 6 years of watching Bellamy and Clarke flirt (and actors Bob Morley and Eliza Taylor get married IRL) only to see her kill him in the end still infuriates me.

Lexa in 'The 100'

Cate Cameron/The CW

Not to mention the fact The 100 had already killed off Lexa, another one of Clarke's love interests, in season 3. One X user called it one of the "top saddest scenes" in the whole show.

Eddie Munson from 'Stranger Things'

Netflix

Outer Banks isn't the first time Netflix viewers have experienced a devastating TV death — Eddie Munson's sacrifice in the final episode of Stranger Things 4 will go down as one of the saddest deaths ever! "One of the few times that a TV show actually made me shed a tear," says another Redditer.

Michael Cordero Jr. on 'Jane the Virgin'

The CW/Warner Bros. TV

This is my most memorable TV death — and one of the first times I was really upset! When I reached the Jane the Virgin season 3 episode where Michael dies after his LSAT exam, I curled up on my roommate's carpet and cried so hard she thought I'd gotten denied from study abroad. Yes, I was that upset.

Amber Volakis  on 'House'

Fox

While TV deaths are already hard to cope with, they can feel like they affect us even more when they cause drama between other characters — like when Wilson's girlfriend passes away on House. One Reddit user points out how it "was a toughie. More so because of how it affected Wilson and caused a wedge in his friendship with House."

Fry's Dog Seymour Asses in 'Futurama'

Fox/Disney

Okay as painful as human deaths are, pet deaths are just as bad! After "Fry's dog in Futurama" died, one Reddit user "was never the same."

Sybil & Matthew Crawley on 'Downton Abbey'

Joss Barratt/Carnival Films

Downton Abbey proved it wasn't afraid to go there when fan favorite Sybil died after giving birth in season 3.

Matthew Crawley on 'Downton Abbey'

Carnival Films

Oh, did I mention the show also killed Matthew in a car accident during the Christmas special that year? Happy holidays, I guess.

Derek Shepherd on 'Grey's Anatomy'

Richard Cartwright/ABC/Disney

Even people who haven't seen an episode of Grey's Anatomy can tell you McDreamy's death changed the show forever!!

Dr. Green from 'ER'

NBC

And speaking of medical dramas, Anthony Edwards' devastating TV death absolutely wrecked one Reddit user, who says "I’ve never cried at a character death before. I stopped watching after he died." All too relatable.

Every Single Death On 'The Sopranos'

HBO

Y'all know we couldn't make a "Devastating TV Deaths" list and not include The Sopranos. Christopher, Johnny Sack, Cosette — you name it, we probably cried.

Jen Lindley on 'Dawson's Creek'

Warner Bros. TV

We fell in love with Michelle Williams on Dawson's Creek — which means when she died (during the series finale no less!!!) we were totally inconsolable.

Danny Matheson in 'Revolution'

NBC

I'll be honest. This is one devastating TV death that totally derailed my interest in the show. RIP Danny, RIP.

Allison Argent in 'Teen Wolf'

MTV

Allison (Crystal Reed) dying in Scott's arms while "Look Out" by James Vincent McMorrow plays in the background? I'm still not over it.

Enzo on 'The Vampire Diaries'

The CW

And finally, I can't NOT include Enzo's death on The Vampire Diaries both because of how difficult it is to watch, and because Bonnie deserved so much better — on every single front.
