I still remember my first pair of UGG boots. They were the classic mid-calf silhouette in a cute-at-the-time gray color, and I truly wore them out. Thankfully, the fashion zeitgeist has moved way past pairing them with basic black leggings and the ever-adored Victoria’s Secret Pink oversized long sleeve shirt (maybe just me?), but UGG boots still have that certain timeless charm about them – totally staple-worthy and definitely as comfy as can be. Every style symbol from Bella Hadid and Zendaya to Jennifer Lopez has donned the warmth-lined boots at one point or another, awarding them complete icon status.
That’s what I love about UGG boots: no matter who you are (or your level of fame), they look good on everyone. Not to mention, they’re ever-so practical for the winter months. The dense lining that’s become a signature for UGG boots was originally designed for Australian surfers’ feet to keep ‘em warm against the chilling winter waters, but now, they stand up nicely against freezing temperatures in the city and beyond.
To reignite (or simply solidify) your love for the 2010s status symbol-turned 2020s fashion statement boots, here are 8 UGG boots that range from classic to earth-shattering, all begging to become a part of your winter wardrobe.
Nordstrom
UGG Ultra Mini Classic Boot
A shortened version of the OG UGG boots, this style hits around your ankles like some booties would. They're shoppable in 10 different colors at Nordstrom, from subtle neutrals to saturated greens, blues, and pinks. Of course, you'll reap the warming benefits of the wool-rich lining made to feel like genuine shearling.
Nordstrom
UGG Classic Ultra Mini Platform Boot
What this boot takes from the ankle height, it adds to the chunky platform soles. I've been seeing platform UGG boots just about everywhere since they debuted last year, and I love 'em because they give every look a nice boost. Your cold-weather ensemble will also become instantly trend-worthy since these boots are Bella Hadid-approved.
Nordstrom
UGG Ashton Zip Waterproof Boot
If you, like me, have to make it through through snowy, wet winters, classic UGG boots aren't the most practical choice for commuting. The soles on classic styles (like the ones mentioned above) are made of a foamy synthetic material that doesn't necessarily stand up to moisture and ice, whereas the rubber sole on these bad boys is durable and waterproof. Of course, you still get that undeniably recognizable UGG look from the chestnut brown colorway and the little logo stamp on the sides of these boots.
Nordstrom
UGG Classic New Heights Genuine Shearling Cuffable Boot
Okay – I am thoroughly obsessed with these UGG boots. The bold, curvaceous soles remind me of go-go boots you'd find in the '70s, making this style instantly timeless. The tall calf shaft can be worn rolled up for added warmth or cuffed down to reveal the cozy faux-shearling lining, so you essentially get two looks in one unique shoe.
Nordstrom
UGG Classic Ultra Mini Alpine Bootie
Après ski season is swiftly approaching, and I'd argue there's no better shoe to slip into after a day on the slopes than some plush UGG boots. These booties have an especially cozy vibe to them, thanks to the moccasin-inspired stitching along the seams. The shorter height also makes them easier to slip into than traditional calf-grazing UGGs!
UGG
UGG Classic Twin Seam New Heights Boot
These UGG boots don't have to work hard to make a statement – the 3-inch platform heel does most of the talking. The footbed of this style is adorned with UGG's classic, dense lining, while the ankle part is simply suede, making them easy to wear over socks and other wintery layers like tights or leggings.
Nordstrom
UGG Classic Mini Platform Boot
Fitted with the ever-trendy platform soles and a boot shaft that hits a little higher on your calves than the UGG Ultra Minis, these are the style to snag if you want a nice balance of style and practicality this winter. The lining will keep your feet super warm, all while the boosted silhouette of these boots adds unmissable flair.

Now that fall is officially in full swing, there’s a lot of seasonal traditions to look forward to, like apple picking, enjoying pumpkin spice lattes, or perfecting Taylor Swift’s famous chai sugar cookie recipe. But in recent years, a new Halloween trend has taken social media by storm – boo baskets. Whether you’re planning on crafting the perfect basket for a loved one, or you have no idea where to start, here is a guide that will help you get on the right track.
What Are Boo Baskets?
Reine Jalloul
Boo baskets are Halloween or fall-themed gift baskets typically filled with candy, seasonal decorations, and fun crafts that you can surprise your significant other with to celebrate the season. While videos of this trend usually show people giving their baskets to their “boo” (pun intended), it’s not limited to just your partner. You can also make one for your friends, your parents, your kids, or even your pets if you wanted to!
What Do You Put In a Boo Basket?
Sarah Barna
Just about anything can go in a boo basket! If you’re creating a basket that’s specific to your loved one’s interests, the possibilities of what you can include are endless. But based on countless TikTok videos and Instagram reels posted about this trend, the general formula for a basket that I’ve noticed includes a cozy item, a mug, a fall-themed drink mix, snacks or candy, a stuffed animal, and (of course) a basket big enough to fit everything!
First, The Basket
Amazon
Technically, any big basket or container could be used to hold your boo basket items. However, if you’re the kind of person that likes to go all out when gift-giving, I would recommend a Halloween-themed basket like the Andemie Halloween Collapsible Organizer from Amazon. Not only does this basket come in multiple colors and patterns, you can easily flatten the basket and store it anywhere you want, so you can reuse it next fall.
Candles, Body Care, Sweaters & More … A Cozy Girl’s Galore!
Cora Pursley
Everyone has their own preferences when it comes to getting all relaxed and comfortable, especially on a chilly, rainy fall day. Personally, there are three essential elements to my lazy days – an oversized sweater, some gourmand scented body care, and a candle that makes my entire apartment smell like walking into a bakery. If this sounds like you, here are some of my favorites.
Etsy
This sweater from the LoveStitchesCo shop on Etsy has quickly become a staple to my “lounging around” outfits this season, and for a good reason. For only $26, this sweater is made out of 100 percent cotton, has a wide size range available (S to 3XL), and can be customized to whatever color you’d like. Plus, the embroidered design is absolutely adorable; who doesn’t love ghost kittens?
Sol de Janeiro
As the weather gets colder, many people (like myself) opt to swap their perfumes and scented lotions from fruity and tropical notes to warm and edible notes like vanilla, caramel, honey and chocolate. If you’re looking to spoil your boo basket recipient who likes these kinds of scents, Sol de Janeiro recently released a limited edition body cream in one of their best-sellers, Cheirosa 71. Fragrance notes of caramelized vanilla, white chocolate and toasted macadamia nut will have you smelling like a snack (literally), while moisturizing ingredients like macadamia seed oil and tucumã butter will keep your skin feeling silky smooth.
Bath & Body Works
If you’re a candle lover, then you already know that the best place to find candles for every season is at none other than Bath & Body Works. Sure, there are plenty of pumpkin scented candles to try, but if you’re looking to include something in a boo basket that screams fall, Autumn Chai is the perfect option. This three-wick candle has notes of cinnamon chai, French vanilla, and caramel – a great combination if you’re looking for something cozy, but not too overwhelming.
Drink Mixes
Target
Hot chocolate is one of the quintessential cold weather beverages, but if you want to be more creative with your drink choice, Target’s Favorite Day brand has a spooky-themed hot cocoa mix that would be a great addition to your boo basket. One box comes with two cocoa mixes and a marshmallow confetti mix shaped like beakers you can find in a science laboratory, and when combined with warm milk, changes to an orange or green color. How cool is that?
And Of Course, A Mug To Match
Target
You got the perfect fall drink for your boo, but what mug would go with it the best? At this stage, I think this is where you get something that is the most personable to your boo basket recipient. You could include a mug that matches their career or their favorite hobbies and interests. If you want to play it safe and stick with a Halloween theme, this 15 oz ghost mug from Target is spook-tacular!
Plushies Make Everything Better
Warmies
Who says that stuffed animals are just for kids? Not only are they fluffy and come in all shapes and sizes, giving a stuffed animal to your loved one is one of the best ways to show that you care about them. As a plushie connoisseur, my go-to pick for a boo basket would be any plush, like this pink llama from Warmies. Each cuddly buddy is lavender-scented and also serves as a microwaveable heating pad that can be used to relieve stress or soothe muscle aches and pains.
Don’t Forget the Candy
Target
No Halloween basket would be complete without candy! From chocolates to gummy worms and sour WarHeads, there are so many options to choose from that it can seem overwhelming to pick just one. And if your boo basket recipient has any dietary restrictions, it can be even more difficult to find something that fits that person’s needs. My twin sister has been vegan for almost five years, and before we both moved out from our parents’ house, these dark chocolate coconut bars from Unreal were a staple snack for the whole family. Not only are these bars certified vegan and gluten-free, each bar only contains three grams of sugar and three ingredients – coconut, cassava syrup and dark chocolate. As someone who isn’t vegan, trust me when I say that when you try these, you won’t want to go back to the name-brand chocolate.

If you were to ask me about Denver winter, I’d say it’s alright. But if you really asked me about Denver winter, I’d say it makes me want to shrivel up in hibernation and abstain from the outdoors until the temperatures hit the mid-50’s again. I’m not joking when I say my city gets devastatingly cold – we’re likely to see temps in the tens and even sub-zero days once December and January hit. That’s why I’m prepping for the freeze now, with plenty of cozy winter layers, beanies, and of course, fleece jackets. Fleece jackets are an easy one-and-done piece to put on that isn’t a bulky winter parka, since they effectively insulate my body heat. There are a ton of cute fleece jackets out there that don’t sacrifice function for fashion – scroll on for my 11 faves that’ll certainly help you brave the cold!
Do fleece jackets keep you warm?
Nordstrom
Canada Goose Simcoe Fleece Zip-Up Jacket
Fleece jackets definitely keep you warm since they’re specially designed to insulate your body heat. Of course, the level of warmth you get from them all depends on the thickness and weight of the fleece, and whether you layer up with additional garments or not.
Are fleece jackets still in style?
Nordstrom
Florence by Mills High Pile Fleece Jacket
Yes, fleece jackets are absolutely still in style. Right now, they’re leading the popular ‘gorpcore’ aesthetic, which takes inspiration from outdoor activities like camping, hiking, and climbing. But, they can work for a variety of looks, since they’re shoppable in so many different colors, weights, and silhouettes.
What is the warmest type of fleece?
Nordstrom
UGG Marlene Heritage Braid High Pile Fleece Jacket
There are three different weight categories when it comes to fleece, with the lightest being the least warm and the heaviest being the most warm. Lightweight fleece measures 100-200GSM (grams per square meter), medium-weight fleece lands around 200-300GSM, and heavyweight fleece is anything over 300GSM. A fleece’s warmth also depends on the actual material the fleece is made from. Polar fleece, cotton fleece, and sherpa fleece are the most common types of fleece you can find. Polar fleece tends to be the warmest, since it’s denser.
Parks Project
Parks Project High Desert Wildflowers High Pile Fleece
The high pile fleece on this pullover not only makes it extremely winter-ready, but extremely soft on the skin, too. The two side pockets and button-up collar are perfect for tucking your away cold fingers and face when the temps really start to drop. The elastic cuffs and waistband help seal in even more heat when you need it most. Plus, this eye-catching brown floral pattern earns major style points.
Nordstrom
Barbour Violette Fleece Jacket
This deep green fleece jacket is equipped with plenty of brass buttons to help you customize your look and bundle up simultaneously. It has a fun contrasting trim to break up the color and incorporate that extra oomph your layered 'fits will be craving this winter.
Free People
Free People Hit The Slopes Fleece Jacket
This jacket boasts an easy-to-wear slouchy silhouette that's ideal for layering over long-sleeved shirts and turtlenecks without ever feeling overly bulky. I love the sporty vibe that the nylon patches and multiple zippered pockets give to this piece, allowing you to wear it casually or more formally. It also comes in 16 more colors to suit your personal style!
Nordstrom
Ugg Nikia Open Stitch Detail Uggfluff Fleece Jacket
If there's one thing Ugg has mastered, it's the art of staying warm. If you know the sheer coziness of their signature boots, this jacket has that same exact level of comfort and warmth! I love that the contrasting scalloped trim breaks up the monotony of the brown color on this piece and also helps shape your figure – which is much needed when you're bundled up underneath layers and layers of winter clothing. The drawstring along the waist, side pockets, and standing collar will come in handy for shielding the most vulnerable parts of your body during a harsh winter chill.
Target
All In Motion High Pile Fleece Jacket
This lighter-on-the-body fleece jacket is the perfect garment to grab after an intense workout when it's time to step out in the cold. It flaunts a nice hood to protect your head and neck, plus thick elastic bands along the wrists and waist, which fit snugly against your bod to insulate valuable body heat.
Cotopaxi
Cotopaxi Bacano Fleece Jacket
Cotopaxi truly knows what it means to brave freezing temps – their line of expertly-designed puffer jackets and fleece jackets are ultra-warm, and this fleecy pick is no different! The high-pile fleece material on this style sets you up for success in terms of keeping cold out and warmth in. You'll be surrounded in sheer coziness all season, thanks to the adjustable drawstring waist and high neckline. I'm also a huge fan of the contrasting zippers and retro-inspired patchwork to make any winter look stand out, whether you're hitting the slopes or running errands.
Urban Outfitters
Kimchi Blue Snow Bunny Piled Fleece Zip-Up Jacket
This pick is like a wearable blanket. The soft fleece is constructed to a boxy, relaxed fit that you can practically wear anywhere. It's fitted with elastic cuffs on the wrists and waist, and you can adjust the level of zippered-up-ness (depending on how cold it is) using the two-way zippers along the front.
Nordstrom
THE GREAT. The Pasture Horse Print Fleece Jacket
All summer long, I was a huge proponent of Horse Girl Summer, which is why I'm heavily eyeing this fleece jacket – I can easily take the Wild West sentiment into my winter outfits with it! I love the cozy low-pile fleece material for layering over other pieces, and I also adore the unique details on this jacket, from the scooped hem to the contrasting spread collar. Yeehaw, am I right?!
Old Navy
Old Navy '94 Half Zip
Part of Old Navy's recently-revived 1994 collection, this half-zip pullover jacket infuses throwback flair with modern convenience. The fleece material is soft on the skin and heat-insulating, so it doesn't ever sacrifice function for fashion. The mock neck shrouds your neckline in warmth, which is perfect for extra-cold days. You can also keep your hands shielded, too, thanks to the zippered side pockets. I love this toned-down burgundy color, though it's shoppable in 5 more vibrant hues like blue and yellow.
Urban Outfitters
BDG Taylor Piled Fleece Aviator Jacket
With a chic mix of cream-colored fleece and black faux leather, this fleece jacket is definitely for those who don't like to abandon the 'fit for cold weather. It follows a boxy, aviator jacket-inspired silhouette that provides ample space for cold-weather layering. The fluffy collar brings even more coziness to your look!
Anthropologie
Varley Roselle Half-Zip Fleece
This half-zip fleece jacket is as sweet as can be. I can see it working really well for cozy WFH days in the midst of wintertime! The waistline is loose-fitting, which adds to its comfort. It's fitted with zippers on both sides that you can adjust for the perfect body-hugging look.

We're officially one week into Scorpio season — are you feeling it? Is your intuition heightened? Are you super sensitive and a bit more introverted? It’s a good time to slow down, feel your feelings, and tap into the inner wisdom of your soul. Scorpio is often misinterpreted, perhaps because this season coincides with Halloween, the decreasing daylight in the northern hemisphere, or simply Scorpio’s intensity and power. A key word for Scorpio is transformation, which is never easy.
Think of the caterpillar’s metamorphosis — its time in the cramped and dark cocoon. That primordial, gooey existence is anything but comfortable. Transformation requires time, a willingness to experience discomfort, and patience before emerging as a beautiful butterfly.
Scorpio is one of the healing signs in the zodiac, and while the Sun is in Scorpio, we can make great strides toward healing ourselves and helping others. There’s nothing superficial about Scorpio — it demands depth, wanting to uncover layers and expose what’s hiding. That’s why it’s a great time to focus on your inner world and subconscious mind. All forms of therapy are beneficial during Scorpio season, but psychotherapy is especially powerful if that's an option for you.
Eager to know what this transformational energy has to offer? Read on for your weekly horoscope to understand how this can impact your sun and rising sign!
Astrological Overview For Your Weekly Horoscope
The New Moon in Scorpio occurs on November 1 at 9 degrees of Scorpio. You'll want to check your birth chart to see where 9 degrees of Scorpio falls — this is the area of your life where you can experience transformation and growth. New Moons are powerful times to plant seeds for future growth, to dream and plan for the coming month. Take time to reflect on what truly matters during this period of darkness and inward focus.
Mars, the planet of action and determination, has been opposite Pluto, the planet of transformation, for months. Both Mars and Pluto co-rule Scorpio, creating an intense and volatile energy. This opposition becomes exact again on November 3 and 4. Use this energy to propel yourself in a new direction and honor your true self. Strength and focus can harness this intensity for personal breakthroughs, but be cautious in making impulsive decisions during this time — on the global stage, tensions may rise, and there could be heightened aggression.
Adding to this turbulent energy, Mercury, the planet of communication and learning, leaves Scorpio and enters Sagittarius on November 2. As Mercury exits Scorpio, it forms a beneficial trine to Mars and a sextile to Pluto. This is a powerful opportunity for words to contribute to healing, so take care in how you communicate. Be mindful of the power your words hold, especially as Sagittarius can be blunt and outspoken. While Mercury is in Sagittarius until January 9, focus on expanding your consciousness, learning new skills, and broadening your horizons.
Key Dates For Your Weekly Horoscope
