5 Must-DL Apps This Week: The Best Weather App EVER + More!

After a week of cooking and assorted hostess prep, a day of feasting and a sweaty 25 minutes lugging that new 55” inch flat screen up your fourth floor walk up, it’s time to check back in with yourself. Which we recommend starting with an app refresh and one of this week’s must-download apps meant to make some sliver of your life better. Today, we’re focusing on your rap career, your sommelier status and your Masters in Meteorology + Meetings. Keep reading, and get to DLing!

1. Jigglist: As holiday party season heats up and the “we should grab a drink” straggler invites come rolling in, use this app to plan the latter. Its interactive chats let you find times in your friends’ schedules that work for all AND pick well-reviewed restaurants and bars to meet — all in the same chat. Bonus: With the chosen locale’s info right there in your convo, you’ll never have to answer the “what’s the addy?” texts again.

Cost: Free on iOS and coming soon to Android

2. Next Glass: Not sure what kinda beer to buy or, more importantly, which lager you’ll actually love? This app uses SCIENCE to predict which brewski you’ll swig and which wine you’ll pass on after a sip. Use it like Pandora, rating your favorite beers and wine to build your very own taste profile. While shopping, bust it out to scan barcodes of drinks you haven’t tried yet to get a personalized “score” that guesstimates how you’ll feel about that particular booze. One of our favorite features is that it connects with your friends’ profiles so you can find the perfect bottle of wine to bring to their next party.

Cost: Free on Android and iOS

3. Keezy Drummer: Now that 2014 is coming to a close, someone needs to start working on the next twerk anthem and you could be THAT PERSON with this beat-creating app. Either that, or use this well-designed DLable drum machine to win the next rap battle you find yourself stuck in.

Cost: Free on iOS

4. Weather or Not: A great weather app is, well, great, but a weather app that adds context to the forecast is better than great. This one syncs to your calendar events and maps out what the next week looks like for you and your plans with the weather in mind. All that and some good word play? You know we <3 that.

Cost: $2.99 on iOS

5. Super! This self-described “quirky, colorful and different” app looks like super fun — important because Jelly, Biz Stone’s most recent swing at a social app was, well, not super fun. This social experiment is about sharing pictures with a message (or is it about sharing a message with the help of pictures?). You type in your opinion and the app generates an image for you automatically or lets you upload your own. Users can use “starters” to kick off their own “I” statements or answer someone else’s with their thoughts. This one might not reach Twitter or Facebook heights, but it might be like a public, feel-good Whisper.

Cost: Free on Android and iOS

Amid dire concerns that TikTok threatens U.S. national security, bans against the app have spread like wildfire. Beyond just government devices, some universities initiated bans, with the latest policy talks going as far as to include personal devices as well. Though it’s unlikely that the platform will be completely banned (there are other proposed solutions, like selling the app or amending its data policies) due to free speech, the possibility of a ban raises another concern: the livelihood of small businesses.

TikTok is a central avenue for small businesses to promote their products and services, with special thanks to its algorithm, says Johannes Larsson, Founder and CEO at Financer.com.

“The platform's unique algorithm, which prioritizes content discovery and virality, has enabled many small businesses to reach and connect with potential customers in a way that wasn't possible through traditional social media platforms,” says Larsson. “Since its growth has been exponential throughout the years as a key marketing channel, the ban triggered the markets for sure.”

TikTok also masters the art of connection. Your For You Page knows exactly what you like to see. This gives small businesses the ability to get closer to their audience and reach more success that way, says saysLynzee Krohne, Founder of branding agency LEO + LAINE.

"On TikTok, brands have the freedom and space to be more casual and less branded," Krohne said. "Because of the nature of TikTok, it allows brands to let their guard down a bit and create content that may be a little more rough around the edges—which helps them appear to be much more authentic to their audience."

Jessica Tran, founder of @jtmobiledetailing, says 60% of customers choose her car detailing shop because they saw it on TikTok. Jaz and Sam Sears, owners and operators of@aztaco.king, grew their business from a food cart in a parking lot to two restaurants in less than 6 months, due to their success on the app. Megan Gersch, a web designer and brand identity creator, says around half of her client base comes from TikTok, which often turn into 4 to 5-figure contracts.

This positive growth for small biz is commonly attributed to the app’s distinctive features that connect creators with consumers, such as live video streaming, a virality-driven algorithm, and the ability for users to personalize their daily feeds.

“TikTok has been a great tool for allowing me to connect with my audience on a deeper level,” says Gersch. “There's a special magic that happens with video marketing that you can't achieve with a text or static image post. Your audience gets to know your quirks, your mannerisms, and they start to feel like they know you, even though you've never met. Every time you see a new video from one of your favorite creators, it's like a FaceTime call from a trusted friend.”

In its absence, small business TikTokers would have no choice but to adapt and pivot their marketing strategies, which is not always easy when they’re doing it DIY-style, says Larsson.

“While small businesses may be able to find success on other social media channels, the competition for visibility and engagement is often more intense [than on TikTok], making it harder for them to stand out. The time and effort required to establish a new presence and create content tailored to the specific characteristics of other platforms could be a significant burden on small business owners.”

Small businesses pivoting to other platforms might face different struggles for exposure, due to consumers being very platform-specific, according to Krohne.

"If [TikTok] brands begin to focus their content efforts on Instagram, they’re up against multiple types of content, and competing in a more content-saturated world," Krohne told us. "TikTok mostly has one content offering, and that’s why it’s insanely popular. There’s a difference between platforms. Brands must diversify their content and show up in other places to keep a steady stream of touchpoints to remain top of mind and memorable."

Though Gersch is no stranger to restrategizing, a potential TikTok ban would still impact her business as a web designer and brand creator.

“I've been a marketer for 16+ years, and one thing that I have learned along the way is that you need to constantly test, look at your analytics, and create where the attention is,” says Gersch. “If TikTok goes away, there will be a huge gap in the market that will need to be filled.”

TikTok recognizes the work that small business owners take on in order to find success, which is why the platform has committed $1 million each to the Hispanic Heritage Foundation to elevate entrepreneurship in the Latin community, and Black Girl Ventures to support Black and Brown women entrepreneurs.

“Five million US businesses turn to TikTok to take us inside their world in a fun, authentic way, and as a result, they are reaching new customers, hiring more employees and growing their business,” says Becca Sawyer, Global Head of SMB for TikTok. “By partnering with HHF and BGV and launching virtual workshops, we're strengthening our commitment to build an inclusive and supportive platform where small business owners and entrepreneurs can share their story, find their audience and drive real business results."

We can’t make a solid prediction for the destiny of the beloved app for now, but we do know that it’ll be dearly missed by small businesses and consumers alike if bans (at any capacity) go through.

“I don't want Tiktok to be banned - not only is it an integral part of my business, but I have also been able to connect with so many incredible people that I wouldn't have met otherwise,” says Gersch. “It's my go-to source for inspiration, learning, and even a good laugh.”

Without a doubt, the best TV shows of 2023 included the emotional end to the Succession saga, as well as the beginning of my attachment to Joel and Ellie from The Last of Us. I got cozy thanks to Sullivan's Crossing and became even more obsessed with The Bear, but the one show I never saw coming was Beef.

The series picked up awards left and right (hello Emmys and SAG Awards!), and thank goodness, we don't have to say goodbye just yet because Beef season 2 is officially on its way! You might be wondering, 'Isn't Beef a limited series?' It was supposed to be — but the internet's obsession pushed Netflix to renew it. Before you catch up on the best new TV shows of 2024, here's everything we know about Beef season 2.

  • Beef was a standout TV show of 2023 — and Beef season 2 is on its way!
  • The Netflix hit will feature two feuding couples, doubling the drama.
  • Charles Melton, Cailee Spaeny, Oscar Isaac, and Carey Mulligan will lead the Beef season 2 cast.

Will there be a season 2 of Beef?

Andrew Cooper/Netflix

Yes, we're getting a Beef season 2! After waiting to hear whether the show would be back for another installment, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed the news on October 22. The sophomore season will feature eight 30-minute episodes.

Who's in the Beef season 2 cast?

Beef Season 2 Cast

This is the craziest part of all: Charles Melton and Cailee Spaeny will play one of the feuding couples, with Oscar Isaac and Carey Mulligan as the other. This is an absolutely insane cast to see onscreen together, and I cannot wait to see how they balance soft-spoken, graceful moments with over-the-top drama. Beef season 2 is going to be as good as its predecessor — if not better.

What is Beef season 2 about?

Andrew Cooper/Netflix

Beef Season 2 Plot

THR also reports that Beef season 2 will follow a young couple (assuming that's Cailee Spaeny and Charles Melton) who sees a crazy fight between their boss and his wife, “triggering chess moves of favors and coercion in the elitist world of a country club and its Korean billionaire owner.”

When is Beef season 2 coming out?

Andrew Cooper/Netflix

Beef Season 2 Release Date

We don't have an official release date for Beef season 2 yet, but considering season 1 started filming in April of 2022 and released in April of 2023, we could see the second season as early as winter 2025.

How many seasons and episodes of Beef are there?

Andrew Cooper/Netflix

Right now, there is one season of Beef comprised of 10 episodes. Beef season 2 will feature eight 30-minute episodes.

Where can I watch Beef?

Andrew Cooper/Netflix

I leave the house without makeup almost every day, so I don't know why it was so surprising to see Drew Barrymore (49) and Food Network's Valerie Bertinelli (64) appear on The Drew Barrymore Show sans makeup alongside Pamela Anderson (57), who's gone makeup-free since 2022!

“Isn’t it freeing? Doesn’t it feel free? I feel free," Pamela says. "I mean, it’s taken a while, too; I’ve had my little, you know, journey with it, but we all are our own worst critics.”

  • Pamela Anderson has been going makeup-free since 2022.
  • On a Drew Barrymore Show appearance, she inspired Drew and Valerie Bertinelli to go makeup-free.
  • The moment has inspired millions of viewers, with one user calling out, "We are beautiful in all forms."

Anderson, who you've probably seen with a full beat in the 90s, first went makeup free at Paris Fashion Week in 2022: "[I] decided I was just going to a fashion show. I didn’t need to compete with anybody. Like, why am I wasting three hours in a makeup chair when I have these beautiful Vivenne Westwood clothes on? And I didn’t realize anyone would even notice."

Well, the definitely world noticed and simply couldn't stop talking about it. Scarlett Johansson praised Anderson's "powerful" choice, while Jamie Lee Curtis went so far as to call it a "rebellion."“I think it’s a self-acceptance time of my life; just peeling back the layers–it’s almost like a fresh slate,” Anderson told Vogue in December of 2023. “I thought I was retired, but it hasn’t ended up that way. This is a whole new chapter.”

Why does Pamela Anderson not wear makeup?

Anderson told Drew Barrymore that baring her natural skin was a way to remember who she was, considering her roles and magazine appearances felt like characters; she wanted to remember who she really is. “It just hit me a couple of years ago, and I was like, you know, just shaking my head, going, ‘Who am I?’" she says. "You know, and that’s when I went home into my garden and started planting things and getting into nature and going back to the trees that knew me since birth. I bought my grandmother’s property and renovated it, and I just started taking it all back. And then started peeking out without makeup. And then I started realizing, ‘Oh, I feel great as me.'"

Does Drew Barrymore have extensions in her hair?

Steven Ferdman/Getty Images

Her honesty then inspired Drew Barrymore to take out her own extensions and get real about how perimenopause has affected her hair! "Another awesome symptom of perimenopause is you start to lose your hair," she said, throwing her extensions on the ground. "You can have a full face of makeup, feel like the makeup is beautiful, but if you're having a bad hair day, it's like, 'Nah, not gonna happen," Valerie said, while Drew agreed, "And if you are having a great hair day, you feel a lot more confident about wearing less makeup because you feel so good in your presentation that everything else sort of falls into place."

Steven Ferdman/Getty Images

The moment was not only received super well by the internet, but it made us all emotional, too! "I’m in tears," one user commented on the TikTok. "Women deserve to be able to live authentically. We are beautiful in all forms."

"Gaahh it feels good too, to watch famous women on tv AND THEY LOOK LIKE NORMAL WOMEN!" another agrees. "I ditched makeup for quarantine and will never go back to daily wear."

This isn't the first time we've see our favorite A-listers without makeup — Lady Gaga performed at the 2023 Oscars with ripped jeans and bare skin — and we're sure it won't be the last.

"In the past I’ve hurt people and said things that I didn’t mean to make them happy in the moment. So now I’m just more so looking at the future, making sure I’m not damaging them. "Hailey I am soooo in love with everything about you!" Justin says in his official Instagram announcement. After moving in together, the couple was seen walking into a courthouse in the fall (via TMZ)! Since slipping wedding bands on each other's fingers, both Justin and Hailey Bieber have admitted their relationship has taken a ton of work.

"I remember when I first got married, I hit a little bit of an emotional breakdown because I thought marriage was going to fix all my problems and it didn't," Justin says in an interview with Apple Music 1's Ebro Darden (via Billboard). "You want your wife to do something that you're not doing and it's like, it's hard sometimes to look in the mirror and really have to realize, man, maybe you're not the person that you necessarily thought that you were."

"There's a reason they say 'for better or for worse.' Like, that's for real!" Hailey tells Harper's Bazaar. "I might fly somewhere and go do a job, but I can't wait to come back and hang out. And I feel like that's because of the effort that's been put in on both sides. At the end of the day, like, he's my best friend, but it still does take a lot of work to make it work."

"I’m fighting to do this the right way, to build a healthy relationship,” Hailey says. “I’m not going to sit here and lie and say it’s all a magical fantasy. It’s always going to be hard. It’s a choice. You don’t feel it every single day...But there’s something beautiful about it anyway — about wanting to fight for something, commit to building with someone."
"We’re committed to growing together and supporting each other in those changes," she continues. "That’s how I look at it. At the end of the day, too, he’s my best friend. I never get sick of him.”

While some fans think a feud has existed between Selena Gomez and Hailey Bieber for years, Hailey says "there's no drama, personally."

"I can say, period, point blank, I was never with him when he was in a relationship with anybody — that's the end of it," she adds.

She initially wrote, "Congratulations Grandpa! WE ARE GONNA HAVE THE CUTEST GRAND-BABIES EVER!" but circled back to let people know, "No not twins lol I wish. I just mean in general. Hopefully they will have more than one eventually. They will make beautiful babies whenever they have them. One is enough for now 😂."

October 22, 2024 — Justin And Hailey Are Closer Than Ever Amid Diddy's Scandal

In spite of the fact Justin and Hailey welcomed their infant son a couple of months ago, the rumor mill is dredging up the singer's past affiliation with fallen mogul Sean 'Diddy' Combs. Page Six reshared screenshots from an old video of that two where Diddy's hand could be seen on Justin's chest. One user on X felt Diddy was "checking Justin Bieber to see if he is wearing a wire," however it's hard to tell since we can't really hear their conversation.

Since the video resurfaced, there have been several reports that Justin isn't doing so well because he could be reliving alleged trauma from the time he was close to Diddy. One report by The News even said the singer "looked pensive" in photos snapped of he and Hailey while they headed to Doja Cat's bday bash.

However, it seems Justin and Hailey are doing their best to continue leading normal lives amid Diddy's scandal. The Rhode founder shared a sweet photo of a little plant Justin surprised her with on Instagram stories, according to PEOPLE, and wrote, "@justinbiber bought me a plant for no reason. it’s the little things."

Justin also shared a carousel of pictures on Instagram a couple of days ago that showed him working on music. The last photo features a tender moment that captures he and Hailey leaning in for a kiss, signaling they're a united front in their marriage.
