Joey King Says Taylor Swift's Music Video Sets Are "Overwhelmingly Normal"

joey king interview taylor swift i can see you music video

Joey King loves her dogs, like, a lot. We're on a Zoom call (I'm in New York and she's at the Pasadena Humane Society for this month's Hill's Pet Clear the Shelters campaign) and she's gushing about her shelter pups Fable and Jesse. I can't help but ask about Fable, not only because she's super cute but also because it's one of the coolest dog names I've ever heard.

"Me and my fiancé [producer and director Steven Piet] made this whole list of names 'cause it was so exciting," King says. Even though she grew up with animals, she never got to name one. That is, until now. "[The name] stuck in our heads because a fable is usually a tale or a lesson given that always involves an animal. And I think that rescue animals have so much to teach us and they really are like little fables. She's just the sweetest soul who has so much to learn, but also so much to teach us."

"[Jesse] was found down south and then brought to the shelter in Chicago," The Kissing Booth actress says. "Like when would those two dogs ever cross paths? And now they're brother [and] sister, they're best friends and they provide so much love and joy in our lives."

Pets are definitely an example of unconditional love and joy (not to mention that 87.3 percent of Americans are happier with a pet in their lives), and Jesse and Fable prove that to King every day. "I find so much joy and inspiration and open-heartedness from hanging out with animals," she says. "I'm just really happy that I get to be here today to like, help take photos and help get these animals adopted."

When I point out that there's no such thing as a bad dog picture, she adamantly agrees: "No, they're all good. Even the ones that are blurry and they're walking away from you, it's still a dog in a photo. Chef's kiss."

Not only do Fable and Jesse make King's everyday more special, but they also play a central role in her favorite weekends. "On Saturdays I like to take the dogs on a long hike, which is really nice 'cause [it] expends their energy and they get a lot of sniffs in — they love to sniff around," she says. "And then there is either room for breakfast tacos or [a] bagel with lox and cream cheese going on there."

Another recent weekend activity? Her bachelorette party! "It was so much fun. My sisters did an amazing job of planning everything," she says. "I went to Napa Valley, I'd never been before, [and] went wine tasting with some of the most amazing and close people in my life. And it was just nonstop fun. We will be talking about that weekend forever."

I ask whether anything has inspired her when it comes to wedding planning, and she laughs when she admits that all of her wedding Pinterest boards are no longer stylish. (Honestly, same!)

"It's funny 'cause my Pinterest board from when I was younger was disgusting. Like, it's awful," she jokes. "So now, like my taste is so, so different. So I definitely did not pull inspiration from myself when I was younger. But I just loved planning it with Steven. We've got great wedding planners, Alison Bryan Destinations, and they've got such good taste. So having such great guidance has been really helpful too because you know, I've never planned a wedding before."

Taylor Swift - I Can See You (Taylor’s Version) (From The Vault) (Official Video)

There's one more thing I *have* to ask about. Long before she adopted Fable and Jesse, or started planning her wedding, Joey King worked with Taylor Swift on singer-songwriter's "Mean" music video in 2011. When Speak Now (Taylor's Version)came out, King was reunited with not one, but two Taylors for the "I Can See You (Taylor's Version)" music video.

"It was so fun to make," she says. "Being on that set and hanging out with Taylor Lautner and Taylor [Swift] — everyone is so like overwhelmingly normal and wonderful. Like we were just having a good time hanging out and making something together."

The video, in which Lautner (who was Swift's boyfriend when she wrote the original Speak Now) and King are spies rescuing a trapped 2011-era Swift, ended up being a huge cultural moment. Swifties were thrilled to see all three back together — both in the video and onstage at the Eras Tour on July 9.

"It's not necessarily at the forefront of every second in your mind," King says of the experience. "But then when you take a second and zoom out and realize how special this moment is, it was really inspiring and also just made me feel very lucky to be part of it all. Especially having that history of the 'Mean' music video to now, [they're] really cool bookends. It's very neat."

Which of Joey King and Taylor Swift's collabs is you favorite? Let us know in the comments!

"Everything has changed," according to Ed Sheeran & Taylor Swift's 2012 song of the same name, but 13 years later, the most important thing between these two BFF's stays the same. The duo, who have recorded collabs like "End Game" for Taylor Swift's Reputation in 2017 and "The Joker and the Queen" for Ed Sheeran's Equals album in 2021, don't often see each other with their busy schedules, but when they do, they spend a lot of time together, Ed says.

Here's what Ed Sheeran told Call Her Daddy's Alex Cooper about his friendship with Taylor Swift.

Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift love to catch up for "hours" at a time.

“I see her when I see her,” Ed Sheeran says on Alex Cooper's Call Her Daddy podcast. “I probably see her, like, four times a year.”

But in true bestie form, when these two do get together, they lock in. I'm talking “proper sit-down, six-hour catch-ups,” according to Ed. “I think that’s, like, a really nice way to do it.”

Extended conversations where you lose track of the world around you are my favorite way to spend time with a friend! As much as I love phone calls and FaceTimes, there's nothing quite like being together with someone in person, and Ed thinks really fondly of being with Taylor Swift on her Red tour in 2013 and 2014, where he opened for the "Fortnight" singer.

“I lived in Nashville, and she lived in Nashville,” he said. “And we used to fly to and from the gigs together. I literally spent almost every single day with her for about six months...I think that period [is my favorite]. Yeah. 2013." Spending every single day with Taylor Swift? Dreamy!

Ed Sheeran isn't the only one of Taylor Swift's friends who's talked about her recently. Taylor showed up to Emma Stone's Poor Things premiere in 2023, and Emma was in the audience at the Eras Tour!

“I’ve known her since we were 17 and 18, so she hooked me up, which was very nice ’cause I know those tickets are impossible to get,” Emma toldVanity Fair at a Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic polo match. “She’s a wonderful friend. She blows my mind."

It is a truth universally acknowledged that I will absolutely eat up any Pride and Prejudice adaptation. Jane Austen's most famous story has everything: romance, sisterly love, and the blueprint for the enemies-to-lovers trope. To this day, I've never read a fight with dialogue as memorable as Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy, and the fact the story eventually gave us THE hand flex in Joe Wright's 2005 adaptation? That's just the cherry on top.

If you've been on TikTok for more than a day, you've probably seen the scene, which stars Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen, replayed at different speeds and angles, which is both its own commentary on the female gaze and a testament to how rich Austen's books are. There are countless glances and touches between Elizabeth and Darcy that add so much nuance to their relationship. And it looks like we're getting countless other moments to turn into TikTok edits because a brand new limited series is coming to Netflix! And the new Pride and Prejudice cast is unbelievable.

Here's everything we know about Netflix's Pride and Prejudice, starring Emma Corrin, Jack Lowden, and Olivia Colman.

Who's in the Netflix Pride and Prejudice cast?

Des Willie/Netflix

The Pride and Prejudice cast is already a super buzzy lineup (and "fantastic," according to one X user). I agree! So far we have:

  • Emma Corrin as Elizabeth Bennet: a headstrong and intelligent young woman determined to marry for love.
  • Jack Lowden as Mr. Darcy: a handsome and wealthy bachelor that has a reputation for his pride.
  • Olivia Colman as Mrs. Bennet: Lizzy's very enthusiastic mother, who wants her daughters married and cared for.

“Playing Elizabeth Bennet is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” Emma says in an interview with Netflix. “To be able to bring this iconic character to life, alongside Olivia and Jack, with Dolly’s phenomenal scripts, is truly the greatest honor. I can’t wait for a new generation to fall in love with this story all over again.”

The other characters we're still waiting on are Jane Bennet, Mr. Charles Bingley, Caroline Bingley, Mary Bennet, Kitty Bennet, Mr. George Wickham, Lydia Bennet, and Mr. Bennet. According to The Daily Mail, Daisy Edgar-Jones (Twisters) has been sent scripts for the series, and now I just NEED to see her as Jane! (Maybe we could get Paul Mescal as Bingley?)

Is there a new Pride and Prejudice coming out in 2026?

Focus Features

Yes we're getting a brand new Pride and Prejudice! THR reports the series is set to film later this year, so there's a good chance we'll see the show next year.

Dolly Alderton (Everything I Know About Love) is writing the script for Pride and Prejudice while Euros Lyn will direct.

“Once in a generation, a group of people get to retell this wonderful story and I feel very lucky that I get to be a part of it,” Dolly tells Netflix. “Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice is the blueprint for romantic comedy — it has been a joy to delve back into its pages to find both familiar and fresh ways of bringing this beloved book to life."

"The book is a gift to adapt — packed with drama and depth as well as comedy and charm," she continues. "In it lies the opportunity to examine the complexities of love, family, friendship and society, while aspiring to Austen’s delightfully observational voice. With Euros Lyn directing our stellar cast, I am so excited to reintroduce these hilarious and complicated characters to those who count Pride and Prejudice as their favorite book, and those who are yet to meet their Lizzie and Mr Darcy.”

Where can I watch Pride and Prejudice?

Nick Wall/Netflix

You'll be able to watch the show on Netflix, but stay tuned for the Pride and Prejudice release date!

This is going to mark the first time the streamer's adapted a Jane Austen story since 2022's Persuasion, which received a 30 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes and led to reviews with titles like Netflix's Persuasion is an absolute disaster and ‘Persuasion’ Is Awful and It’s Also Everything That’s Wrong with Netflix. The report also follows the news that the BBC is adapting The Other Bennet Sister, which revolves around Mary.

With Dolly Alderton behind the scenes, I'm sure the new adaptation will have the same wit as the original story, with a modern edge that will attempt to make it more relatable, with (hopefully) enough respect for the original work to make it not feel untrue to the original story.

How many episodes of Pride and Prejudice are there?

John-Mark Smith/Pexels

Pride and Prejudice on Netflix will have six episodes total.

Where is Pride and Prejudice filming?

Pixabay/Pexels

Pride and Prejudice is set to film in the U.K. later this year.

What is Pride and Prejudice about?

Amazon

Pride and Prejudice Plot

Pride and Prejudice follows the Bennet family and their five daughters: Jane, Elizabeth, Mary, Kitty, and Lydia. When Mr. Darcy arrives to town — and Elizabeth immediately dislikes him — she strives to see as little of him as possible. This proves to be a difficult task when Jane falls for his best friend Mr. Bingley.

Does Netflix have Pride and Prejudice?

Focus Features

Wondering, Where can I watch the original Pride and Prejudice movie? Both the 2005 Pride & Prejudice and Persuasion are on Netflix now! The 1995 Pride and Prejudice is on Peacock.

My boyfriend lives in Napa, and I'm just down the road in the neighboring town of Sonoma. Recently, we decided to have a staycation in nearby Yountville — a charming small town nestled in the heart of Napa Valley. And it did not disappoint. If you’re planning a trip to wine country, Yountville is the perfect escape for romantic getaways, girls’ weekends, or wellness retreats. Just about a 1.5-hour drive from SFO or Oakland International Airport, Napa Valley feels like a world away from the bustle of city life. Imagine Tuscany with a NorCal twist: rolling vineyards, breathtaking landscapes, sunrise balloon rides, and a bucket-list food and wine scene.

Here's how to spend a perfect long weekend exploring Napa Valley.

Where To Stay In Napa

North Block Hotel

We booked our stay at the absolutely lovely North Block Hotel, a boutique retreat right in the center of town with a beautiful courtyard, heated pool and hot tub, and rustic-modern Mediterranean-style rooms. We were greeted in the lobby with warm chocolate chip cookies (the BEST) from Chef Juan Cabrera, who serves an incredible tasting dinner menu next door at The Restaurant at North Block.

North Block Hotel

We kicked off our stay by hopping on the hotel’s complimentary cruiser bikes to explore Yountville. We pedaled down charming Washington Street, then veered onto the town’s serene bike path, eventually winding our way through quiet country roads lined with peaceful vineyards. It was the perfect way to ease into the slower pace of Yountville — and a dreamy start to our stay. After, we hung out by the heated pool and hot tub before heading to our dinner reservation.

The Restaurant at North Block.

The Restaurant at North Block. was one of the most memorable and visually stunning dining experiences I’ve ever had. This Michelin-recognized gem showcases ingredients that are locally farmed, fished, and foraged. The spring gnocchette — with morel mushrooms, garden peas, and an applewood-smoked butter sauce — was pure perfection. Chef’s kiss. Bonus: Chef Cabrera also serves the hotel’s continental breakfast, complete with housemade croissants that are nothing short of dreamy.

Hwy 29: Yountville To St. Helena

Photo: Bouchon Bakery

Our first full day, we popped by Chef Thomas Keller’s beloved Bouchon Bakery for lunch, once the usual early morning crowd had cleared. Just a stone’s throw from his iconic restaurant, The French Laundry, the bakery is a must-stop for flaky pastries and gourmet bites. From there, we set out to explore the wineries along Highway 29 — easily accessible by car, or by bike if you're in the mood for a more scenic, slow-paced ride through wine country.

Photo: Dan Evans

Along this wine country highway, you can take a snapshot in front of the iconic Welcome to Napa Valley sign near Oakville. Nearby, visit Oakville Grocery — a grocery store that first opened its doors in the 1870s, but is so much more. You can grab a gourmet picnic (their wood-fired pizzas are delicious) and eat out on the lawn, visit the adjacent Victorian, 1881 Napa, a history museum that combines a gallery of winemaking relics with DIY wine tasting of over 200 local wines.

Bella Union Winery

Wineries dot Highway 29 like bakeries do in Paris, or pizza places in NYC. There are A LOT. Reservations are recommended during the high season. Some of my favorite ones to visit are Peju for its tasty wines, beautiful gardens and vineyard views from their terrace; Cakebread Cellars for delicious wine and food pairings and stunning grounds, and the tasting garden, AKA the Wren, at Bella Union Winery, where you can enjoy an elegant Cabernet Sauvignon by the glass or by the bottle. Stop by their family of wineries, Nickel & Nickel and Far Niente, too.

Photo: Farmstead At Long Meadow Ranch

You'll probably be hungry at this point. Wine-filled and happy, head over to Farmstead At Long Meadow Ranch in St. Helena for its American farmhouse restaurant, outdoor café, and general store for a unique and tasty Napa Valley experience. I love sitting out in the apple orchard. Dishes are made with ingredients from their farm, ranch, and vineyards.

Photo: Olivier

After, head to Main Street and stroll St. Helena's charming shops, likeOlivier for olive oil-based souvenirs and gifts. If you're up for a movie, check out the Cameo Cinema, one of the few single-screen movie theaters in the country, before heading back to North Block for a soak in their two-person friendly soaking tub and a favorite read by the fire.

Day 2: Downtown Napa To Carneros Region

Photo: Angèle Restaurant

Buzzier downtown Napa is definitely worth a visit. The Napa River offers kayaking, SUP, and gondola rides and there are lovely walks and restaurants along it. You can pop by the French-inspired Angèle Restaurant – I love the vibe here, rustic, lively and always friendly serving comfort food with a French twist.

From Angèle and the Napa River walk, you can pop into the General Store for local goods, and then head over to First Street for indie boutiques, bookstores, and ofc wine! Brown Estate is a Black-owned winery based in St. Helena but they have a tasting room downtown that offers lovely certified-sustainable wines. They're super friendly! Housely is another downtown tasting room owned by actress Tamera Mowry and family. They offer award-winning wines in a casual living-room vibe setting. No need for a reservation!

Photo: Artesa Vineyards & Winery

Boon Fly Cafe, part of the luxe Carneros Resort and Spa, has one of the best brunches in town. For a picture-worthy spot, book a bubbles tasting at nearby Domaine Carneros, a breathtakingly beautiful Château in the Carneros region of Napa Valley. Art lovers might enjoy the art and nature walk at the indoor-outdoor Di Rosa Contemporary Art Museum across the street. Book a second tasting at Artesa Vineyards & Winery, featured in the movie Wine Country with Amy Poehler, for Napa wines with Spanish twist, also in the picturesque Carneros region.

Photo: Scala Osteria

Back downtown, grab a delicious cocktail at Bitter Barand seafood-rich Southern Italian fare at the charming Scala Osteria. If you prefer something a little more casual, head to Napa Yard, a beer garden-style restaurant with music, games, beer and cocktails, plus salads, burgers and cozy sides. Nearby are also the Oxbow Market, definitely worth a walk through and soft serve at Gott's, and CIA at Copia, the culinary institute that offers creative and inspiring food events to check out.

Day 3: Silverado Trail To Calistoga

Photo: Stag's Leap Winery

Your final day is spa day! Silverado Trail is a beautiful 30-minute drive to Calistoga, known for its natural hot springs and wellness escapes. The wineries here are set in a more chill atmosphere than Hwy 29. Clos du Val offers a lovely farmer’s market event with live music, bites, and local goods; Baldacci offers a wine and chocolate tasting; and Stag Leap Wine Cellars is credited with putting Napa Valley on the global wine map – though not to be confused with Stag's Leap Winery, another gem in the area.

Photo: Indian Springs Calistoga

Drive along the palm tree-lined drive to Indian Springs Calistoga. You can plan an overnight and access their Olympic-Sized mineral pool, or go for a spa treatment and hang at their very Zen Buddha pond. Sam’s Social Club Restaurant is a worthy eatery on the property. For a more budget-friendly escape, try Dr. Wilkinson's Backyard Resort & Mineral Springs for a mud bath and mineral pools. You can also visit the Petrified Forest here, unearthed petrified redwood trees that date back to the Pliocene Epoch, 3.4 million years ago!

Photo: Calistoga Inn, Restaurant & Brewery

Grab dinner along the Napa River at the Calistoga Inn, Restaurant & Brewery, which offers live music in a beer garden setting with outdoor fire pits. Order the Country Paella, Calistoga’s spin on the classic Spanish seafood dish before heading back to Indian Springs for a late-night swim in their steamy mineral pool.

I haven't been able to stop thinking about Drop since I saw it (and since I interviewed stars Meghann Fahy and Brandon Sklenar!) — and if you like thrillers, I'm sure you'll be obsessed with this one too. The script is tight, the visuals are beautiful (albeit eerie), and Meghann and Brandon are absolutely electric onscreen together. In Brit + Co's latest episode of our Yap City podcast, we dive into the interview experience and why the movie is so dang good.

Here's why you should see Meghann Fahy & Brandon Sklenar's Drop, in theaters now!

What is the movie Drop 2025 about?

Drop follows Violet (Meghann Fahy), who's excited for her date with Henry (Brandon Sklenar) — until she starts getting anonymous drops to her phone threatening her son. She can't tell Henry about the messages, especially since the final one instructs her to kill him.

But despite the thriller of it all, I've been calling Drop a "scary rom-com" because of just how electric Brandon and Meghann are onscreen, and how much I care about them as a viewer. I cared more about their relationship than some actual romance movies this year!

And in this episode of Yap City, I offer some behind-the-scenes moments from my Drop interviews, and spill on which Emily Henry character fits Brandon Sklenar perfectly.

Where can I watch Drop?

@britandco Y’all won’t want to miss this one. #drop#dropthemovie#meghannfahy#movie#brandonsklenar#1923#whitelotus#moviereview#review#fyp#foryoupage @Universal Pictures @Blumhouse #greenscreen♬ So High School - Taylor Swift

Drop is in theaters today, April 11, 2025!

Who's in the Drop cast?

The Drop cast has some of the hottest names around, including:

  • Meghann Fahy as Violet: a widowed mother finally going on a date who starts getting anonymous drops to her phone.
  • Brandon Sklenar as Henry: Violet's date who tries to help her figure out the drop mystery.
  • Violett Beane as Jen: Violet's sister and date night babysitter.
  • Jacob Robinson as Toby: Violet's (very adorable) son.
  • Reed Diamond as Richard: a man Violet meets who's also at the restaurant for a date.
  • Gabrielle Ryan as Cara: the bartender who keeps an eye on Violet.
  • Jeffery Self as Matt: Violet and Henry's waiter.
  • Ed Weeks as Phil: the restaurant pianist.

Where did Drop film?

Director Chrisopher Landon and the Drop team built the restaurant set themselves, and Christopher told me in an interview that the gilded look of the restaurant was meant to mimic a cage — and make Violet and viewer feel trapped. The movie filmed in Ireland.

Let us know what you think about the movie on Facebook.

Hailee Steinfeld is no stranger to stealing scenes in movies, but her latest role in Ryan Coogler's Sinners is full of sexy and horrifying moments that'll leave audiences begging for more. Plus, she'll be starring alongside Michael B. Jordan (Creed and Black Panther)!

Should we start an early petition for a ‘Dangerous’ music video?

Based on clips floating around the internet, this historical horror is set to provide a stage for both of their bewitching performances. Perhaps what makes us even more intrigued is how delighted the True Grit actress and Creed actor are about playing characters that'll have viewers talking long after the credits roll.

What is the movie Sinners about?

Warner Bros. Pictures

When twin brothers Smoke and Stack return home for a new beginning, they're initially met with welcome arms. But as daylight turns to dusk and gives way to nightfall, unspeakable horrors expose themselves to the townspeople. Evil in the form of vampires consume everything in their path and it changes the brothers in ways they could've never prepared for.

It's set in the 1930s South which means we'll get dialect, fashion, music, and more themes from that time period.

Where was Sinners 2025 filmed?

Warner Bros. Pictures

According to IMDB, Sinners was filmed in the following Louisiana cities: New Orleans, Bogalusa, Donaldsonville, and Labadieville!

Who's Hailee Steinfeld starring as in Sinners?

Warner Bros. Pictures

Hailee Steinfeld will be starring as Mary, the love interest of Stack. Since not much is known about her outside of that, we're assuming their romance is forbidden. What we do know is Hailee's a fan of her character and the overall themes of Sinners.

According to PEOPLE, the actress shared more of her thoughts in her newsletter BEAU SOCIETY March 28. She wrote, "...This role is far removed from what I've done, but that's part of what drew me to it! I feel like I'm stepping into my own more and more as I get older, and this role mirrors that."

She also shared that it didn't take much for her to be a part of Sinners. "The minute I heard Ryan Coogler, I was in. Then I read his script and was like, 'Holy s---, this feels like a massive undertaking.' The story is so complex and layered," calling herself "fortunate and honored to even be remotely considered." So, how does Hailee Steinfeld feel about Sinners as a whole?

She says it's "thrilling and sexy and daring and dangerous — with bold representations." Calling this type of movie a "first" for her, she continued sharing her excitement about it on the TODAY Show while chatting with Jenna Bush Hager and John Legend. She said, "This role, I feel just challenged me in ways that I was ready for." She also praised Ryan Coogler for being "the most incredible writer and director," which continues to speak to his amazing sight!

Is Hailee Steinfeld on the Sinners movie soundtrack?

YouTube

Plus, the actress revealed she recorded new music for the Sinners soundtrack! She shared the news in her BEAU SOCIETY newsletter and gave subscribers an inside peek at how her song "Dangerous" was created.

She wrote, "Eleven days ago, I found myself somewhere I haven’t been in over two years: a recording studio. Not just any recording studio, but Jimi Hendrix’s Electric Lady!" Hailee then proceeded to thank everyone who helped her record the song.

She thanked Ryan Coogler for his unwavering belief in her role as Mary and "also as a musician," before expressing gratitude for Coogler's wife Zinzi, a producer for the Sinners movie. "She was a guiding force throughout the entire process," Hailee said of her and also commended her "calm confidence" for bringing "a perspective to this song that made it click" for the actress."

Setting her sights on Ludwig Göransson, Hailee noted how "his music tells stories that will burn a hole in your heart" and calls working with him "beyond a dream." She was also stoked that he "brought in Sara Aarons, an amazing songwriter (via phone call), to help with the top line."

Lastly, Hailee complimented violinist and orchestrator Serena McKinney Göransson (Ludwig's wife) for bringing "so much soul and precision" to "Dangerous." She applauded Serena's "supportive female energy" and said "watching her work with Ludwig was like watching people paint with sound."

Overall, Hailee feels her new song has a "hauntingly beautiful score" that's perfect for Sinners because it has "emotional tension and quiet unraveling" in it.

Although we can only listen to a snippet of "Dangerous," the full song releases next Friday, April 18.

Who else is in the Sinners cast?

Warner Bros. Pictures

Besides Hailee Steinfeld, Sinners has a robust cast that'll make the storyline even more rousing. In no particular order, viewers will see:
