What’s that sound you hear in the distance? Bells a-jingling? That’s right. The holidays are well on their way, riding into cities all over the map. Are you ready? Why not get yourself in the mood with a holiday-inspired cocktail? We’ve teamed up with the folks at White Whale to make a Brit exclusive mixer aptly called The Jolly Brit. And we’ve got four delectable cocktail recipes to share with you today. Two are meant to be served on ice and two are hot drinks to warm you as the weather turns. Sound good? Let’s get to making!
Jolly Eggnog
Have you ever had homemade eggnog? If not, you must give it a whirl. It’s like cream met eggs and then they ran outside into a storm of sugar and spice. It’s liquid dessert. With booze, duh. Here’s our version of eggnog with the amazing taste of The Jolly Brit to add a little extra somethin’-somethin’.
Ingredients:
– 4 egg yolks
– 1/3 cup sugar, plus 1 tablespoon
– 1 pint whole milk
– 1 cup half and half
– 3 ounces bourbon
– 1 ounce The Jolly Brit
– 1 teaspoon freshly grated cardamom
– 3 egg whites
In a standup mixer combine the egg yolks on high. Then add the sugar (minus the tablespoon), and mix until they are fully integrated.
Add your milk, cream, bourbon, The Jolly Brit, and the cardamom. Pour the mixture into a pitcher.
Rinse out your mixing bowl and then add the egg whites. Stir until they start to form white tips. Add a tablespoon of sugar. Then fold the whites into the mixture and pour it into glasses. Top your adult bevvies with a dash of cardamom.
This drink is not for the faint of sweet tooth. It’s a combo of sugary deliciousness and bourbon. Who can say no to that?
Jolly Brit Honey Bourbon
Ingredients:
– 1 ounce The Jolly Brit
– 2 ounces Bourbon
– 1 ounce tonic
– ¼ teaspoon honey
Fill a drink shaker with ice. Then add all of the ingredients. Shake it up and pour it over ice. Sip and enjoy.
Caramel apples aren’t just for the county fair. They are a great treat for the holidays. Since The Jolly Brit has a hint of apple flavor, we’ve got an amazing hot caramel apple cider cocktail for you to wrap your icy paws around this winter.
Jolly Caramel Apple Cider
Ingredients:
– 2 cups apple juice or cider
– 1 ounce caramel vodka
– 1 ounce The Jolly Brit
– 2 cinnamon sticks
– 1 apple (we love Honey Crisps and Fujis)
– caramel sauce
In a medium saucepan, combine the apple juice, caramel vodka, The Jolly Brit and cinnamon sticks. Warm up the mixture on the stove, making sure it doesn’t get too hot, or you’ll cook off the alcohol.
Pour the cocktail into cups. Then cut your apple into cubes. Dip the cubes into the caramel sauce and add a few to each cup.
Nothing says cozy holiday nights like a warm mug of hot buttered rum. Here’s our take on this wintery drink with a little extra Jolly flavor. Next on our list after making this cocktail: The Jolly Brit cookies. The butter/sugar/The Jolly Brit combo is just asking for it.
Jolly Buttered Rum
Ingredients:
– 2/3 cup packed dark brown sugar
– 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, room temperature
– 1 tablespoon honey
– 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
– 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
– 1 ounce The Jolly Brit
– 3/4 cup light rum
– 2 cups boiling water
In a standing mixer, combine the butter, sugar, honey, cinnamon, nutmeg and The Jolly Brit until smooth.
Heat your water. Scoop your butter mixture into a heat-safe pitcher (and try not to eat all of it!). Add your rum and hot water and stir until the butter mixture dissolves.
These are perfect party cocktails! Or great drinks to sip while you’re getting cozy on the couch with a favorite book.
