It’s Official! Justin Timberlake Will Headline the Super Bowl Halftime Show

After much speculation, Justin Timberlake confirmed that he’ll headline the Pepsi Super Bowl LII halftime show on February 8, 2018, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The singer and actor shared the news in a short video posted to Twitter on Sunday evening. The video costars Jimmy Fallon and is as goofy as you’ve come to expect from the pair.

“Excuse me, sir, do you have the time?” Timberlake asks Fallon in a fake accent.

“I was going to ask you, sir, if you have the time,” Fallon replies.

“I do have the time,” Timberlake says, to which Fallon responds, “You do have time?”

The video continues like this, with Timberlake saying, “I do have time,” until eventually Fallon says, “YOU DO HALF TIME? You’re doing the halftime show at the Super Bowl?!” Cue Timberlake’s knowing glance at the camera. (The NFL confirmed the news too, in case you were worried these two were just pulling a prank.)

Timberlake told NBC sportscaster Mike Tirico that he didn’t have to think twice when asked to perform. “When I look back at [halftime performances from] Beyoncé, Bruno [Mars], Coldplay and legends like Michael [Jackson], and Bruce [Springsteen], U2 — the hair on the back of my neck stands up,” the 36 year old said, pointing out that all of the performers he listed used their performance to speak about current issues at the time. “I want to take the opportunity to put together a performance that feels like it unifies. The icing on the cake would be that, at some point in that 12 minutes, everyone is shaking their booty.”

Of course, Timberlake also addressed his most memorable previous appearance at the Super Bowl — the infamous Janet Jackson wardrobe malfunction of 2004. During their performance of Timberlake’s “Rock Your Body,” he pulled off a piece of her outfit during the lyrics “gonna have you naked by the end of this song,” revealing Jackson’s partially covered breast. Timberlake assured Tirico that it would not happen again.

So, can we expect that *NSYNC reunion after all?! We’ll have to tune in on February 4, 2018, to find out.

It is a truth universally acknowledged that I will absolutely eat up any Pride and Prejudice adaptation. Jane Austen's most famous story has everything: romance, sisterly love, and the blueprint for the enemies-to-lovers trope. To this day, I've never read a fight with dialogue as memorable as Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy, and the fact the story eventually gave us THE hand flex in Joe Wright's 2005 adaptation? That's just the cherry on top.

If you've been on TikTok for more than a day, you've probably seen the scene, which stars Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen, replayed at different speeds and angles, which is both its own commentary on the female gaze and a testament to how rich Austen's books are. There are countless glances and touches between Elizabeth and Darcy that add so much nuance to their relationship. And it looks like we're getting countless other moments to turn into TikTok edits because, according to Deadline, Netflix is reportedly developing a new a series based on the novel.

Who's in the Netflix Pride and Prejudice cast?

Pride and Prejudice Cast

The biggest question on everyone's minds is Who's going to play Elizabeth and Darcy? We're still waiting on official casting announcements (and for the show to be greenlit in the first place), but according to The Daily Mail, Daisy Edgar-Jones (Twisters) has been sent scripts for the series, and could wind up playing Elizabeth Bennet, a role previously played by Keira Knightley in 2005 and Jennifer Ehle in 1995. This could be the perfect opportunity for Edgar-Jones and Paul Mescal to reunite after Normal People, but even if they don't end up playing Elizabeth and Darcy, I could totally see them as Elizabeth's older sister Jane and Darcy's best friend Bingley!

Deadline also reports that Netflix has tapped Dolly Alderton (Everything I Know About Love) to write the script for Pride and Prejudice, but other members of the cast and crew are still being finalized.

When is the new Pride and Prejudice TV show coming out?

Pride and Prejudice Release Date

The series would be available to stream on Netflix, and would mark the first time the streamer has adapted a Jane Austen story since 2022's Persuasion, which received a 30 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes and led to reviews with titles like Netflix's Persuasion is an absolute disaster and ‘Persuasion’ Is Awful and It’s Also Everything That’s Wrong with Netflix. The report also follows the news that the BBC is adapting The Other Bennet Sister, which revolves around Mary.

With Alderton reportedly behind the scenes, I'm sure the new adaptation will have the same biting wit as the original story, with a modern edge that will attempt to make it more relatable, with (hopefully) enough respect for the original work to make it not feel untrue to the original story.

  • Taylor Swift will release The Official Eras Tour Book and The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology on vinyl.
  • Swifties have been begging Taylor Swift to release a book for years now, and it's finally happening!
  • The book and vinyl will release ahead of the final Eras Tour date in December.
Taylor Swift fans have been waiting for the pop star to release a bookafter years of obsessing over her lyrics (and after the entire internet was convinced she was behind the campy, cat-obsessed spy thriller Argylle). Well, on October 15, she announced that we’re finally getting a book — just not the novel we thought she was writing.

Gareth Cattermole/Getty Images

“We'll be kicking off the final leg of The Eras Tour this week, which is hard to comprehend,” Taylor Swift says on Instagram. “This tour has been the most wondrous experience and I knew I wanted to commemorate the memories we made together in a special way. Well, two ways actually. Excited to announce that The Official Eras Tour Book, filled with my own personal reflections, never-before-seen behind the scenes photos, all the magical memories you guys brought every single night."

The 256-page book (which will retail at $39.99) features all kinds of photos and entries from the singer, which will be a super special look into life during the Eras Tour. And in true Swiftie fashion, the book itself is an Easter egg — 2, 5, and 6 all add up to 13!

The last time we got anything close to "personal reflections" from the singer was when she released four different Lover journals in 2019 with real journal entries from her teenage years. Hopefully the Eras Tour book will have plenty of entries as well.

Target

In addition to the book, we're also getting a vinyl edition of The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology, which features bonus tracks like “So High School,” "thanK you aIMee," and “The Black Dog," which will be available to purchase from Target on November 29.

"We’ve been begging for The Anthology on vinyl since April and we’re finally getting it," one Reddit user says. "I’m so happy that I was clowning for this announcement and I was right!"

"Okay but can we talk about your gorgeous these vinyls are?" another adds. "I know we waited a while and a lot of us thought it wouldn't become because of 3AM, but when I saw it was gonna be Target only I feared the worst. But these are STUNNING."

The Tortured Poets Department helped Taylor Swift become the most-decorated VMAs solo artist in history. Not to mention the fact that at the time of its release, the entire album landed on the Billboard Top 100 — and for the first time, took up the entire Top 14. And as far as the Eras Tour goes, in addition to fans bringing Ticketmaster to courtover the ticket sale "fiasco," the tour became the first time an artist has made $1 billion on a single tour. After launching in March 2023, Taylor Swift's last Eras Tour date is in December 2024.

"This is the very first time I’ve ever acknowledged to myself and admitted that this tour is going to end in December," Taylor Swift said after rumors of the tour extending into 2025 went viral (via USA Today). "This tour has really become my entire life, it's taken over everything, like I think I once had hobbies. All I do when I'm not on stage is sit at home and try to think of clever acoustic song mashups and think about what you might want to hear."

"You have done so much to be with us," she continues. "You've made plans so far in advance. You planned what you were going to wear. You memorized lyrics. You got yourself here. You figured out parking. You figured out transportation, and I want spend the 100th show just thinking about that and living in that moment and being here with you, and just know I appreciate every single ounce of effort that you put in to be with us when this show reaches triple digits in shows. So thank you!"
