Why Supermodel Karlie Kloss Eats Cookies Before the Gym

These days, supermodels like Karlie Kloss and Chrissy Teigen are making healthy cooking look so good. And how are they doing it, might you ask? By inviting us into their kitchen every day on Instagram. It’s true; you can basically plan out a whole day of healthy treats and meals from Karlie’s Instagram — from her almond milk lattes, her purse full of cookies and her obsession with breakfast food. We thought we’d use her Insta as inspo for more than just #ootds and best selfie angles, here are 11 reasons you’ll want a second helping of Taylor Swift’s BFF’s ‘Gram.

1. All About the Healthy Lifestyle: Dispelling the myth that models don’t eat, Karlie wants to set a better example for girls by demonstrating a healthy lifestyle full of good food and solid workouts, according to NY Daily News. Karlie even has her own line of cookies called Karlie’s Kookies at Momofuku Milk Bar. What’s in her crumbers is an infusion of almond flour, gluten-free oats, agave and toasted almonds. Um, yum.

2. It’s a Family Thing: Karlie told Teen Vogue that every year during the holidays, her mom, her sisters and she spend a day in the kitchen together, baking up goodies for friends, family and loved ones. Stars — just like us!

3. Her Favorite Things: For every tin of her cookies sold, 60 school meals go to hungry children around the world. Her most recent recipe also supports emerging designers. She told Style, “The Coco Kookie combines some of my absolute favorite things — cookies, fashion and giving back.”

4. Snack Attack: Kloss always carries wholesome snacks like dark chocolate, almonds, apples, granola bars in her purse. She told Harper’s Bazaar that she always makes sure she eats something with protein like apples and peanut butter before she hits the gym to keep up her stamina for her killer Victoria Secret workouts.

5. Keeping a Healthy Balance: Karlie freely admits to eating a cookie before her workouts, but she also digs a really nutritious breakfast burrito with lots of egg whites and avocado for protein. She told People that after an intense workout, she loves a good shake with almond milk and banana.

6. Girls Night In: We’re completely jealous of the gathering Taylor Swift hosted in her apartment with her girlfriends, including bestie Karlie Kloss. Homemade cookies are totally included in this meal, right girls?

7. Almond Hot Chocolate: A big fan of all things chocolate, Karlie is known to eat the stuff first thing in the morning thanks to the likes of chocolate chip pancakes. Check out her own recipe for almond hot chocolate at The New Potato.

8. Breakfast Is Best: Karlie told Bon Appetit that breakfast is her favorite meal of the day. When she’s not working, she says she likes to sleep in, make a shake, go to the gym and then have breakfast in the afternoon. From cereals, yogurts, pancakes and crepes Karlie loves it all, but she says that egg whites are a staple since they’re a great source of protein.

9. Wholesome Eating: As far as we can tell from her ‘grams, Karlie likes to keep things simple when she cooks. She seems to use fresh ingredients and not do much to them. Here she shows off one of her healthy snacks — a flatbread smothered in hummus, avocado and veggies.

10. Breakfast of Champs: Karlie’s go-to recipe for eating-in is omelettes. She told Bon Appetit that she is a better baker than cook, so on a lazy night in, she prefers to whip up scrambled eggs and omelettes. Who doesn’t love breakfast for dinner?

11. Have Cookies, Will Travel: The self-proclaimed Queen of Snacks, Karlie is famous for carrying a picnic in her purse at all times and all the other models know she is always good for a snack — especially a cookie. According to Healthy Celeb, she stocks her purse with things like hot chocolate packets and oatmeal packets – things you can just add hot water to on the go.

Protecting women's reproductive rights feels like an uphill battle. To date, 14 states have a total abortion ban in place that don't allow any exceptions for sexual violence against women or young girls. One of the states is Missouri, where model Karlie Kloss spent time as a child.

Having given birth to her first child during the pandemic, she feels fortunate to have a positive birth story, but she knows this isn't always the case for others. Unfortunately, doctors don't always prioritize women's pain and this can end up especially hurting Black moms. There's also things like postpartum depression to consider.

Luckily, there are moms — like Karlie Kloss — who are willing to push back against any stigma by sharing their postpartum stories and advocating for maternal health.

Karlie's Postpartum Experience + Maternal Health Inequality

There are birthing classes and books dedicated to educating moms about life during postpartum, but that doesn't always mean you can know exactly what to expect. In Karlie's case, she remembers the difficulties she faced after giving birth. She told Glamour, "My body was completely turned around, you’re not sleeping, and there’s this enormous learning curve that you have to figure out." For some moms, postpartum anxiety or postpartum depression can add to the challenges of adjusting to a new normal. The truth is that 1 in 10 women experience PPD, making it a common occurrence.

As tough as the postpartum experience can be, Karlie feels like it helped open her eyes to things she didn't have prior knowledge about. She said, "...the access to, say, the right kind of formula to feed your child, or protections and rights, is not equal."

Why Karlie's Advocating For Maternal Health Support + Paid Leave

When Karlie learned about the trigger ban on abortion in Missouri, she told Glamour she was upset and wanted to figure out how to become active in fighting for reproductive rights. She said, "We are living in a country where forced birth is a reality. And yet when that mother goes into labor and that child comes into the world, she also is not protected...before being forced to go back to work." She went on to express frustration about the lack of policies that can ensure birthing women are actually protected in a country that demands ownership of their reproductive rights.

It's one of the reasons she chose to join Bobbie's Motherboard and the #passpaidleave campaign. She said, "As I’ve gotten more informed on the history of it, learning how many times [paid leave] has been tried to pass and how close we got this past fall, now is the time to really bring this to the forefront." This inspired her to implement a 12-week paid leave policy at her own company, Kode With Klossy. Right on!

We still have a long way to go when it comes to women's health. We know it shouldn't be a hard decision for the government to determine women need more beneficial policies and less threats of criminal charges but, thankfully, there are people who are committed to using their platforms to advocate.

Lately, Vogue has been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons. In the March issue of the magazine — the same one that was said to be championing those who “democratize fashion” featuring models like Kendall Jenner, Ashley Graham, Adwoa Aboah and Liu Wen — there is a multi-page spread of Karlie Kloss styled as a geisha in yellowface.

The leaked images surfaced on the web yesterday and, needless to say, netizens are pretty angry. Their choice to outfit Karlie in geisha attire, Shimada hair and white makeup as she poses in Japan’s Ise-Shima National Park in an editorial titled “Spirited Away” (a nod to Japanese animator and director Hayao Miyazaki’s 2001 film of the same name), is problematic, to say the least.

The spread was photographed in Japan by Mikael Jansson, who shared the above photo, and was styled by Phyllis Posnick. It features Karlie posing by a sumo wrestler, walking down the stairs of a tea house and even soaking in a bath, and obviously, the internet is upset. How did this happen? People took to Twitter to sound off. Read some of the noteworthy reactions below.

Karlie has since apologized, saying that she’s “truly sorry for participating in a shoot that was not culturally sensitive” and that she will work to “ensure” her future projects “empower and inspire women.”

I've been anxiously awaiting news on The Last of Us season 2 release date ever since that crazy season 1 finale in March of 2023. ICYMI, Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) have returned to Jackson but unfortunately, all's not well that ends well, because Joel is hiding a huge secret — and it's totally shaken Ellie's trust in him. I love this reluctant duo so much and I'm already making plans to visit my best friend so we can watch (and rewatch) the premiere together.

Here's everything we know about The Last of Us season 2 release date, plus the new The Last of Us trailer.

'The Last of Us' season 2 trailer teases lots of terror.

We've already gotten our first look at Kaitlyn Dever's Abby (a character fans of the game love to hate), but this is the first time we've gotten to hear her — or see her Firefly pendant. We also catch a glimpse of Ellie and Dina (Isabela Merced) dancing during what appears to be an iconic game scene and Tommy (Gabriel Luna) helping defend Jackson from the infected.

While season 1 was full of earthy tones and tons of light vs. dark imagery, The Last of Us season 2 is already showing off a much more aggressive color palette with blacks and reds that underscore just how explosive things are this season (and judging by the flares, I mean that quite literally).

When can I watch The Last of Us season 2?

Liane Hentscher/HBO

Yes, The Last of Us season 2 release date is coming sooner rather than later, and the show will hit Max on April 13, 2025. We're still awaiting confirmation on whether we'll get all the episodes at once, but I'm guessing it'll be another weekly release schedule to bring us from the spring through the summer.

Who's in The Last of Us season 2?

Liane Hentscher/HBO

The Last of Us cast for season 2 includes Pedro Pascal as Joel, Bella Ramsey as Ellie, Gabriel Luna as Tommy, Rutina Wesley as Maria, Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Isabela Merced as Dina, Young Mazino as Jesse, Ariela Barer as Mel, Tati Gabrielle as Nora, Spencer Lord as Owen, Danny Ramirez as Manny, Jeffrey Wright as Isaac, and Catherine O’Hara.

Is Last of Us season 2 coming?

Liane Hentscher/HBO

Yes, The Last of Us season 2 is on its way! The show was renewed in January of 2023 after the pilot aired. The game sequel opens five years after the events of the first game, and Joel and Ellie's relationship has splintered because of Joel's secret: his promise that Ellie's immunity couldn't be used for a cure is actually a lie — and he murdered an entire hospital of Firefly rebels to save her life.

When Ellie finds out Joel lied to her — and when a certain someone finds out Joel's responsible for the massacre — their worlds implode.

Bella Ramsey told Vanity Fair "it’s really a story about revenge and a continuation from the first season about the dangers of unconditional love."

Meanwhile, Pedro Pascal teased to Deadline that The Last of Us team “are always going to find ways to build on the incredible source material that they have, and surprise us with how they can use that material in a different format like a television show."

What do The Bear, Mystic Pizza, and Marvel's Spider-Man: No Way Home have in common? Cast members Ayo Edebiri, Julia Roberts, and Andrew Garfield are all starring in a new thriller called After the Hunt from Challengers director Luca Guadagnino! I love each of these names individually, and this movie is my dream collaboration. I CANNOT wait to see how this story comes together. The flick is coming to theaters this fall and it's already one of my most-anticipated 2025 movies.

Here's everything we know about After the Hunt, starring Ayo Edebiri, Julia Roberts, and Andrew Garfield.

When is After the Hunt coming out?

Arturo Holmes/Getty Images for FLC

After the Hunt is coming to theaters on October 17. Since it's being released by Amazon MGM, we can expect the movie to hit Prime Video after its theatrical run.

What is After the Hunt about?

This new movie follows a college professor (Julia Roberts), who finds herself at a "crossroads" when a beloved student (Ayo Edebiri) makes an accusation against another professor (Andrew Garfield), and the secrecy of her own past is threatened.

“It’s not a movie about sexuality or love. It’s one of my very rare movies where I didn’t tackle that,” Luca said on WTF with Marc Maron. “It’s a very timely movie for where we are now. In terms of the society and the division in society and the extreme positions that we can have vis-a-vis an opinion in a way.”

“It’s about what happens in the milieu of academia between younger and older people and the idea of consent,” he continues. “I can tell you that it’s very loaded. I can tell you that the movie is very provocative, but not in a stupid way, but I would say in a very articulate way. It’s a great script from this first time writer, Nora Garrett.”

And the cast is as intrigued by the story as we are. “I’m very excited,” Ayo Edebiri told Deadline. “[Luca Guadagnino] is a visionary, I think. He cares so deeply about human beings and their relationship to each other. [The film] is sticky. It’s a complicated movie, but I feel so proud to be a part of it and excited to see it. I know that I’m biased, but me aside, everybody’s so amazing. I really was blown away, so I’m really excited.”

Who's in the After the Hunt cast?

After the Hunt stars Ayo Edebiri, Julia Roberts, Andrew Garfield, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Chloë Sevigny.

Considering Julia Roberts plays a professor in Mona Lisa Smile (one of my favorite movies ever), she definitely has the authority and grace to knock this role out of the park.
