Kate Hudson’s Throwback Pic Just Gave Us the Best Game of Thrones Halloween Costume Idea

If you’re still searching for a Halloween costume for next weekend, scouring through your favorite celebrity’s old Instagrams from last year is a great place to start. Whether you’re super into Heidi Klum’s old lady outfit or Jessica Alba’s take on Dora the Explorer, there’s bound to be something that strikes your fancy. The only bummer is sometimes all that digging can get tiring, so it’s a good thing #tbt (AKA Throwback Thursday) exists. Yesterday, in honor of the weekly Instagram tradition, Kate Hudson posted a snap of her and her crew dressed up on Halloween last year as a Game of Thrones character we had totally overlooked: Windlings!

Kate caption the photo, “#tbt to the year we had a Game Of Thrones themed Halloween Party. Its almost time again.”

We’ve seen just about a hundred different versions of Khaleesi and Jon Snow, but this group that lives north of the wall somehow managed to fall under our radar all these years. Not only could this be a fun GOT costume idea others might not think of, it’s also a clever way to stay cozy if where you are isn’t exactly warm come October 31. First, LC’s party animal group costume and now this? How will we ever choose?!

If you follow along on B+C, you’ve seen and admired our canine model, Turkey Temple (one of my favorite pet names, TBH). He is definitely a turkey by trade but clearly not by species. It seems like an obvious choice, but this was Turkey’s first time dressing up as a turkey for Halloween. Spooky season might be over, but it's *always* a good idea to dress your dog up for Thanksgiving if they don't mind!!

Keep reading for the cutest and easiest DIY dog turkey costume!

I’ve been making a lot of pet costumes this year, but this one has been high on my list for a long time. With some felt and One-Wrap Velcro, we created this pet costume in no time at all. Does your pet have a goofy name? Try dressing them up as their name, and make sure you snap photos and share them with us on Instagram! How To Make A Dog Turkey Costume

Tools And Materials:

  • red, orange, yellow and white felt
  • cardboard
  • One-Wrap Velcro
  • pen
  • fabric scissors
  • hot glue gun

Instructions:

1. Draw large, long oval feathers on your yellow felt. Stack the yellow felt on top of the orange felt and cut them both out. Next, draw a curved rectangular shape on the white felt and cut it out.

2. Hot glue the white rectangular shapes to the feathers, then glue the feathers to one another to create a fan shape.

3. Glue a horizontal strip of cardboard to the back of the feathers to help them stand upright.

4. Hot glue a piece of felt to each edge of the feathers and attach a strip of One-Wrap Velcro that is long enough to wrap around your dog’s belly.

5. Cut out a gobble from red felt and attach some One-Wrap Velcro.

Draw 12 long feathers on your yellow felt. Stack the yellow felt on top of the orange felt and cut out your feathers. Cut 12 white curved rectangular pieces to accent the feathers.

Glue the white pieces to the feathers and then glue the feathers to one another into a fan shape.

Attach a long strip of cardboard to the back of the feathers to help them stand up straight once the dog turkey costume is assembled.

Hot glue a piece of felt to each edge of the feathers and attach a strip of One-Wrap Velcro that is long enough to wrap around your dog’s belly.

Draw a gobble onto a piece of red felt, cut it out and glue it to a small piece of One-Wrap Velcro.

Hey Turkey — here’s your turkey costume!

Attach the gobble to your dog by wrapping the One-Wrap Velcro around the collar.

Cutest turkey I ever did see!

Say what you mean and mean what you say. Our words and actions hold real power. Early this week, make every effort to communicate clearly, act with conviction, and think strategically and originally. Communication is highlighted when Mercury and the Sun are at the same degree in the same sign. Both are now in Aquarius, but Mercury will move into Pisces at the end of the week, with the Sun not far behind. If you have a creative project to present or need to make a pitch in your personal or professional life, act now. You will be able to articulate your vision effectively and others will understand, but this clarity may become murky in the second half of February. So seize the moment.

A full Moon occurs on February 12 in the courageous sign of Leo. This is an excellent time for creative self-expression. Step into leadership roles and take bold moves whenever possible. This is not a time to be shy; operate from your heart center. During the full Moon, the Moon and Sun will square Uranus, so expect the unexpected. There may be breakthroughs or disruptions in what we consider "normal."

Be mindful of your nervous system, as the pace of life will accelerate. Communication breakdown is likely, particularly in the technological realm, so make hard copies of important papers. The key is to remain flexible. While impulsivity may be tempting, a better use of this energy is to embrace out-of-the-box thinking and move forward with creative ideas.

When the Sun is in Aquarius, we can be inspired to solve problems in ways that initially seem unusual or strange to others. Don’t let that deter you. During this period, working in collaboration with others will be most effective. Expand your alliances with like-minded people to accomplish goals that benefit all. Projects that protect home and family will thrive while Mars is in Cancer and trine Saturn in Pisces. Remember to pace yourself and take time to recover from exertion — rest is just as important as action.

Warrior energy is in the air as Venus spends the next three and a half months in Aries. Venus, the ultimate feminine planet, doesn’t always feel at ease in Aries, a sign dominated by masculine energy. However, this combination is best utilized by acting fearlessly to protect what we love. Aries is known for standing up for the underdog and acting impulsively yet selflessly to correct injustices. At the same time, this archetype reminds us that self-care must come first.

Mercury will move into Pisces on February 15 and remain there until April 16. This shift may complicate communication, as misunderstandings can easily arise. It is crucial to express yourself clearly — your words will either inspire or confuse. Pay attention to your dreams and keep a journal handy.

Fantasy is everywhere the last few years — books, films, and shows are full of witches and vampires and fairies galore right now. And ever since Onyx Stormhit shelves, I feel like I can't get enough of these epic, escapist worlds. I'm in the middle of Mayfair Witches season 2, and it's one of the best thriller TV showsI've watched in a while. Once someone is wrongly accused of harming a child and murdered before the truth comes to light, it sets off a chain of events that pushes Detective Ralph Anderson beyond his limits.
