Lamorne Morris Tells Us Which ‘New Girl’ Cast Member Cried While Filming Season 7

It’s the end of an era. After six years on air, the final season of New Girl will premiere on April 10, signaling the final chapters for Jess Day and her loftmates and breaking the hearts of their loyal fans the world over — right along with those of the cast members.

While you might expect a conversation with one of the show’s biggest stars, Lamorne Morris (AKA Winston Bishop), to be somewhat… well, sad, given the circumstances, he’s not one to wallow. Rather, Morris is jovial. In the 15 minutes we spent on the phone with the actor, he had us cracking up as he recounted some of the more hilarious behind-the-scenes moments we DIDN’T get to see on TV.

“I was called porcelain on set [for my] tiny little freak injuries,” he shares. “I do my own stunts. This is a real thing — I was getting off a couch and dislocated my thumb literally just pushing myself up… My thumb just went straight down and popped out of place — you can hear that pop on camera.”

Fans might also recall that time his character stubbed his toe on a chair while arguing with Schmidt in the season 3 premiere. “I really hurt my toe,” the Game Night actor admits. “I was in a ton of pain.”

He credits his ability to work through such unexpected scenarios to his improv background. “Second City [the legendary Chicago comedy enterprise that’s spawned many an SNL cast member, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler included] definitely helped me in that category,” the Glen Ellyn, Illinois, native says. “That’s a skill that you have to have. The character becomes more relatable…. If I get stuck on a line, even if it’s dramatic, I’ll just say something funny to loosen things up.”

Often, it’s a risk that pays off. That whole Theodore K Mullins bit from season 1 of New Girl, for instance? All Morris. Storylines for the character were written for him after the star ad-libbed a monologue scene in which Winston is rudely awoken from a Saturday slumber. “[The director] gave the signal for me to keep talking and all of it made it [into] the final cut… I got a lot of great feedback from fans,” he recalls.

We see that same type of on-your-feet thinking in Morris’ new flick, Game Night, in which he plays the likable, if slightly insecure, Kevin. As his costar Kylie Bunbury told Den of Geek, the Denzel Washington impression we see Kevin perform onscreen was Morris through and through. In fact, a lot of the character was — maybe even moreso than Winston.

“[There’s] a lot of Winston in myself, [but] in Game Night, you can see a more realistic, down-to-Earth, sane human being,” he tells us.

We’ll soon have plenty more opportunities to witness the comedian’s wit on the small screen. For starters, he’ll star in the scripted docuseries/drama Valley of the Boom on National Geographic, which will explore the surge of tech companies in the ’90s.

He also has a brand new partnership with Buick, which sees him taking on a role as the NCAA Dean of “Fandom University,” offering up helpful tidbits of info to basketball fans, on topics such as team colors, “culinary arts” (read: tailgating), and psychology. “I am the perfect person for this,” he says. “I know everything about everything.” Oh, and did we mention he also has a comedy album in the works? “I’ve got a lot of irons in the fire,” he shares. We’ll say!

Still, the 34-year-old can’t deny that he’s going to miss his roots.

“To start off, it was exciting,” he says of filming season 7 of New Girl. “This one was a fun situation, because we knew this was the final hurrah… There’s a lot of homages to different things from past episodes that we know fans in particular will love. A lot of times on the show, you’re… setting up storylines that can last for seven years. [This time], we just threw everything in there and kind of had a lot of fun with it.”

For Winston, there’s also a lot of resolution to be seen. “The final season takes place three years in the future,” he tells us. “You’ll see a lot of storylines that are resolved. The last time we checked in on Winston, [he was] not answering a phone call from his estranged father, and in this season, you will see that individual — you will see my father. Winston handled it in only a way Winston could handle it.”

The episode with Winston’s dad is a special one for Morris, since he also happens to have directed it. “When you do see my father, it will be quite possibly the best episode of all TIME,” he assures us.

It wasn’t all fun and games, however. “[It] was a bit sad, I will admit,” he concedes.

While Morris says he didn’t cry — “Now I’m a grown man, I don’t cry about anything,” he says — one unexpected member of the cast did cry — and often. “Jake Johnson [Nick Miller] cried a lot. I think he was the only one that was crying. He knew [that was] the last time he was gonna see me,” he jokes.

That’s likely not the case, as Morris says the group still texts and communicates weekly. In fact, it’s the camaraderie among his costars he’s going to miss most. “We’ve spent so much time with each other, we’ve become family at this point,” he says. For your job to be going to have fun with your favorite people in the world, that’s like a dream come true.”

Considering The Summer I Turned Pretty doesn’t have magic like The Vampire Diaries, treasure hunting like Outer Banks, or quests (at least, not the typical kind), the relationships and character arcs take center stage. That means the cast (and their relationships with one another) has to be believable AND you have to really care about what they’re going through. Good thing this cast is amazing!

Everyone from Lola Tung to Chris Briney is electric every time they're onscreen and I can't wait to see them all again oh so soon. After all, new episodes are coming to Prime Video this summer! Before we press play, here's the rundown of who's returning.

Here’s everyone in The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3 cast.

1. Lola Tung as Belly Conklin

Erika Doss/Prime Video

Lola Tung stars as Belly Conklin. See what she told us about returning as Belly for season 3!

2. Christopher Briney as Conrad Fisher

Dana Hawley/Prime Video

We'll see Mean Girls star Chris Briney in The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3 cast as Conrad Fisher.

3. Gavin Casalegno as Jeremiah Fisher

Erika Doss/Prime Video

Gavin Casalegno returns as Conrad's younger brother Jeremiah Fisher.

4. Rain Spencer as Taylor Jewel

Prime Video

We'll see Rain Spencer again as Belly's best friend Taylor Jewel.

5. Sean Kaufman as Steven Conklin

Prime Video

The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3 cast also features Sean Kaufman as Steven Conklin, Belly's older brother and Conrad's best friend. (And Taylor's new BF!)

6. Jackie Chung as Laurel Park

Prime Video

We're hoping to see Jackie Chung as Laurel Park again, Steven and Belly's kickbutt mom and author.

7. Rachel Blanchard as Susannah Fisher

Dana Hawley/Prime Video

We'd also love to see Rachel Blanchard as Susannah Fisher return for The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3 in flashbacks or as a voiceover when Belly, Conrad, and Jeremiah read her letters!

8. Elsie Fisher as Skye

Prime Video

We don't know for sure if we'll Elsie Fisher as Skye again, so stay tuned!

But Kyra Sedgwick as Aunt Julia won't be a part of The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3 cast.

Prime Video

But sadly we won't see Kyra Sedgwick as Aunt Julia — even though she finally made amends with Laurel and made peace with Susannah's passing! "I'm not in season 3," she told People in June 2024. "No, no, no. Spoiler alert."

The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3 cast is totally stacked! Who are you most excited to see return for the new season? Every Gilmore Girls fan knows that Luke and Lorelai were always endgame. Despite the fact they had to watch each other get into different relationships (while I love Max, I'll never be able to stomach the way Christopher acts ugh). But there's one moment in an early Gilmore Girls episode that teases Luke and Lorelai getting married, and even though I've watched it countless times I never caught it before!

Here's that Luke and Lorelai wedding detail you probably missed in Gilmore Girls season 2.

Lorelai teased her wedding date way before 'A Year in the Life'

@dianaathome Caught on my 11523rd rewatch 🤯 #gilmoregirls#gilmoregirlstiktok @valeriescateyescream ♬ original sound - Diana @ Home

Gilmore Girls season 2, episode 3, "Red Light on the Wedding Night" opens with Lorelai and Rory tasting Fran's cakes at Weston's Bakery ahead of Lorelai's wedding to Max. And when Fran insists the girls stay to figure out exactly which cake flavor they like the best, sticking firm to the idea that there's nothing more important than your wedding day, Lorelai doesn't bat an eye when she says, "Well, it ain't Guy Fawkes Day." And TBH, Fran's confused response is exactly how I felt the first time I watched this episode.

We all know Lorelai gets cold feet when she realizes she's not actually in love with Max and bails on him before the wedding. After all, it's definitely more memorable than Lorelai's joke, which I've always taken to be a throwaway line (she really does have a random sense of humor). That is, until @dianaathome on Tiktok pointed out that Guy Fawkes Day, a British holiday celebrating the failed Gunpowder Plot that happened in 1605, takes place on November 5 — the same day as Luke and Lorelai's wedding in A Year in the Life.

I can't believe I never caught this! And I'm not the only one. "I don't know if I'm more impressed that someone snuck this in or that you found it!" one user commented, while another says, "It is Helen Pai and Dave Rygalski's anniversary. [Luke and Lorelai's] original wedding date June 3rd is Helen Pai's birthday!" (Helen Pai is the real-life, albeit loose, inspiration for Lane Kim!)

Now, while this is a super fun connection to find, a lot of Gilmore Girls viewers are realizing just how much they dislike Lorelai's behavior in the actual scene (as in, eating all the cake knowing Sookie was already preparing one). And it's sparked a ton of conversation.

"I felt so bad for [Fran]! She put all the effort and make all those adorable and tasty cakes and the two of them are like “Hehe screw ethics we get to eat free cake!”since Sooki was just going to make one for free," one Reddit user says. "Maybe it’s the service industry in me talking but I can’t get over how annoyed I would be."

Another goes so far as to say this scene is why they "I like to think this is the reason she wouldn’t sell the Dragonfly to Lorelai & Sookie. Revenge."

If Fran's cake tasting really was free, then eating her out of house and home just for fun is definitely not cool, Lorelai. (Although I still think it's not as unrealistic as her showing up to Chilton in a tee and shorts).

Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley) is back for another season of snooping and stalking in New York City, and thanks to the new You season 5 teaser, we know exactly when this new TV show is returning. In addition to showing us characters from the past like Guinevere Beck (Elizabeth Lail), Love Quinn (Victoria Pedretti), and Marienne Bellamy (Tati Gabrielle), Joe straight-up says goodbye to the one person who's always been there: you. Yep, Netflix went there.

“Every season they manage to find new space to make it interesting and relevant,” Penn Badgley told Tudum. “And this season, I think somehow coming back to where it started allowed for it to just become grounded in the way that it needs to also have this kind of spectacular finish.”

Here's a breakdown of that brand new You season 5 teaser.

"Hello, you. Do you remember me? Cause I remember you," Joe asks in the You season 5 teaser, over shots of New York City and Mooney's Books. "Here we are together again, back to where it began."

"A lot has happened these many years together," he continues. "Identities, cities, loves, complications." The trailer is a walk down memory lane for viewers and for Joe as he remembers Beck, Love, and Marienne — and locking them up. Plus some fights and escapes he made along the way.

"All that led me here to now, to where I as always meant to be," he says. "And the one constant, the one thing that has always been there for me, is you. You who have been there the whole time and will be there with me to the end. Goodbye, you."

Okay, this is totally giving me Black Mirror, metaverse vibes, especially since Joe's in his creepy underground bunker with all that blue lighting. I have chills down my spine just watching this!

Is season 5 of You coming out?

Yes, You season 5 is dropping on Netflix April 24, 2025.

We've been waiting for new episodes since season 4 premiered in 2023, but the writers and stars have been planning Joe's ending for much longer. "We have some ideas that we've been talking about pretty much from the beginning," Sera Gamble told EW when she was showrunner in 2023. "It's really the debate about what kind of justice would be fair and appropriate for a guy like Joe. And then do we believe that he would get that kind of punishment? My short answer is like, maybe not from the American system. But there might be other ways. So that's the stuff we're talking about."

But whatever these writers and directors have up their sleeves, Penn Badgley promises You season 5 will come to a "perfect" conclusion. “I would love for people to just be like, ‘Wow, it’s over and I feel good and I don’t want to watch it again,'" he told Harper's Bazaarin March of 2023. And honestly, a perfect ending is all TV fans can hope for these days, right?

Who's in the You season 5 cast?

The final season of You stars Penn Badgley, Madeline Brewer, Anna Camp, Charlotte Richie, and Griffin Matthews.

Are you excited for the final season of You? I cannot wait to see the way Penn Badgley and Netflix bring the show to a close. Follow us on Facebook for the latest You season 5 news — and updates on all your favorite TV shows!

Did you know the colors you are surrounded with can enhance your mood and energy? Think about the color palette in your closet right now. What colors are you most drawn to? Before you freak out if black or gray are your go-to colors for your daily wear (guilty!) maybe after reading this, it will inspire you to step out of your comfort zone and try to work with new colors. What if I tell you that your astrological sign has a designated color palette to support your journey?

Color therapy, or “chromotherapy,” can supplement your well-being. Integrating astrology will also help you pinpoint the colors you are most attracted to and how to become more in tune with yourself. Astrology is a fantastic modality for gauging self-acceptance while also becoming your best self, and color therapy is the therapeutic means to rebalance and power up your goals.

Working with the colors assigned to your zodiac sign can support your mental, emotional, and physical well-being. Read on to learn how color therapy works and which color palette best suits your zodiac sign!

Here's how to make color therapy work for your zodiac sign — and feel good doing it!

What is color therapy?

Helena Lopes

Color therapy is a holistic, non-invasive modality used for the body. Historical figures such as Pythagoras (circa 2,500 years ago) applied “color light” therapeutically, while “color halls” were used as a means of treatment in ancient Egypt, China, and India. The modern medical pioneer patron of color therapy was Niels Finsen of Denmark in 1877. He discovered that visible light was how ultraviolet or red light energy could heal wounds, bacterial infections, or scars. Sounds familiar? In this present, infrared light therapy is used for pain relief, improved sleep, inflammation, facials, detoxes, and more. Knowing this, you can see why color and light restores our mind, body, and emotional needs.

There are many ways in which you can work best with color therapy. To implement physical changes, you can update your selection of colors in your clothing, nail colors, makeup palette, or home decor. For the mind and emotional system, you can work with colors through visualization practices like art, meditation, or a color therapy lamp.

How Can Color Therapy and Astrology Work Together?

let mous

Color therapy works by frequency or wavelengths of colors, which can have a physiological or psychological impact on our well-being. Using appropriate colors guided by your zodiac sign can rebalance or harmonize your body’s energy centers. How can color therapy integrate with your zodiac sign? It begins by knowing and working with your Sun sign, granting you more confidence and understanding regarding your direction. It extends our overall vitality and spreads endless radiance in our lives. It fuels our well-being and emits light wherever it touches in the birth chart. In principle, our Sun sign is our destination point, our identity. Now, the Sun Sign is where we can reach that higher level of understanding about our process and how we will experience fulfillment in this life. Incorporating color therapy guided by astrology can help you obtain confidence, and when you feel balanced, you make sound choices.

How Colors Align With Zodiac Signs

Brit + Co

Observing the astrological signs, they are all categorized within the elemental values. Starting with fire, the signs Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius are placed within this element. These signs hold precedence over the esoteric realm of spirit as they are meant to initiate, inspire, and teach. Fire tones are within the spectrum of golds, reds, and oranges.

The signs Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn reside within the earthy realm. They are supportive, detailed, and persevering in nature. The earth element enables humanity to take a firm stance involving patience or consistency. Deep greens, grays, and navy are colors that hold a grounded energy for these signs.

The signs Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius inhabit the air element. Those who hold this element strongly have the skill to circulate a constant flow of ideas, remain stimulated, and effectively communicate. Air energy guides humanity in the exchange of information, negotiation, and evolution. For clarity, the colors that best support these signs are yellows, pastel blues, or electric blues.

Ending with Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces, these signs embody the water element. Natives with a strong water element are receptive to others' feelings and can be intuitive. They can also conjure creativity, withstand intensity, and dive deep into the world of dreams. Colors such as purples, deep reds, or soft greens can help these signs invoke self-love and confidence.

Energetic Healing Visualization Technique

Mikhail Nilov

  1. Position yourself comfortably or sit in a lotus position. Place your left hand over your heart area.
  2. Take a deep breath through your nose, then exhale slowly through your mouth. With each breath, feel your body becoming more relaxed.
  3. Focus on the soles of your feet and imagine an energetic pull grounding you, anchoring you in the present moment.
  4. Take another deep breath, feeling a nurturing energy rising from the ground, reaching up to the soles of your feet. Allow this energy to gently move upward, relaxing and energizing your body—feet, calves, thighs, core, shoulders, arms, neck, face, and head.
  5. Imagine a bright, glowing light in the sky above you. This light represents your Higher Self.
  6. See the light spiraling down toward you, entering through the crown of your head and flowing through your body. As it moves, it changes into a vibrant color that resonates with you.
  7. Take another deep breath and allow the colored light to fill your core center. Visualize it growing brighter and expanding with each breath, filling your entire body.
  8. Imagine the light forming a dome or egg-like shape around your body, extending outward, cleansing your physical and energetic space.
  9. Release any tensions, worries, or negative energy, visualizing them fading away into the ground. Trust the process of transformation.
  10. Continue this visualization as long as you need. When you feel light and neutral, place your hands in a prayer position and silently offer thanks.
  11. Visualize the light around you returning to its source, and when ready, gently open your eyes.

This practice can be done 1-2 times daily, ideally in the morning or before bedtime.
