Here’s Where You Can Get Lena Dunham’s Super Chic Power Suit

Like her Girls character Hannah Horvath, Lena has never been afraid to make a fashion statement. From her celebrity airport style to that stylish outfit from Ann Taylor, predicting Lena’s next outfit is like trying to guess where lighting will strike next. In typical Lena fashion, the actress, director and producer surprised us all by showing up to her movie premiere at Sundance rocking a perfectly tailored pant suit.

Lena’s outfit could be explained by all the time she’s spending on the campaign trail with Hillary Clinton, but in reality it has more to do with the subject of her upcoming documentary: Bindle & Keep. If you’re not yet familiar, Bindle & Keep is an inclusive, bespoke suit company based in Brooklyn who has become popular for designing suits for the transgender community. Lena’s upcoming documentary Suited follows several of Bindle & Keep’s transgender clients as they go through the process of having custom suits made. The film takes a closer look at how the process differs for a set of customers with complex gender identities.

During a conversation with American television writer and producer Norman Lear at Sundance, Lena told the audience, “We’ve all got to eat, we’ve all got to get dressed and there’s something very universal about the process of having a custom suit made.” She goes on to say, “We [she and her crew] all got suits made for the festival and I have to say that the experience… of putting on the suit that had been custom made for me — I literally was brought to tears because the feeling of putting on something that fits your body and where you’re not tugging and pulling and kind of readjusting yourself in the mirror but where you’re just yourself — just like flooded me.”

Looking good, Lena!

Mattel is running full steam ahead to unlock more childhood memories after the success of Barbie. Shining a spotlight on '90s toys, Lena Dunham is teaming up with the mega brand to write and direct a movie about Polly Pocket.

The most exciting part about this is she's tapped Lily Collins to star as Polly P! She's spectacular in Emily in Paris so we can only imagine how she'll bring the tiny heroine to life. Good thing we won't have to imagine for long.

As part of Mattel's film lineup, the Polly Pocket movie is being written and directed by Lena Dunham. This means viewers can expect to see witty banter with a thought-provoking underlying message — and we can't wait! If you're just as excited as we are, keep reading for all the details about the upcoming Polly Pocket movie.

Is there a Polly Pocket movie?

Yes! Mattell is bringing another toy to life with the Polly Pocket movie.Varietyfirst shared the big news in 2021. Feel free to watch the PollyWorld cartoon while you wait for the new feature film.

What do we know about the plot?

So far we know the movie will revolve around the friendship that develops between Polly Pocket and a young girl.

“Polly Pocket was responsible for countless hours of childhood escapism for me,” writer and director Lena Dunham told Variety. Us too!

Who's in the Polly Pocket movie cast?

Right now, the only casting news we have is Lily Collins as the title character. Collins will also serve as one of the producers alongside names like Robbie Brenner and Kevin McKeon of Mattel Film.

What have Lily and Lena said about the movie?

Lily and Lena are ecstatic about bringing Polly Pocket to the big screen. In a statement to Variety, Lena made it clear she wants to create a film that resonates with young women.

She said "I’m so thrilled to bring to bear both my love of this historic property and also my deep-seated belief that young women need smart playful films that speak to them without condescension.”

For Lily, this film is "a real dream come true" and we couldn't agree more.

Is there a release date?

Due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, a definitive release date hasn't been announced. We're happy to report that produce Robbie Brenner is loving the script so far.

She told Variety, "It's been an amazing collaboration" and she hopes they can make an announcement "in the future."

We're crossing our fingers and hoping more news will come soon!

While we wait for more news, start digging around in your attics for your Polly Pocket trinkets. (Just maybe don't chew on the shoes if they're 20 years old). We'll find ours too so we can have them with us when the movie premieres in theaters!

Emily in Paris season 4 was the buzziest season yet, and for good reason. Emily's in Rome, Camille was never pregnant, and Gabriel's hair went from très hot to tragique. In addition to the viral response to Gabriel's new hair, season 4 left me pretty sad because after four years of waiting for Emily and Gabriel to get together, they almost immediately break up — and actor Lucas Bravo is just as confused as we are.

Carole Bethuel/Netflix

“The ‘sexy chef’ was very much part of me in Season 1 and we grew apart season after season because of the choices he makes and because of the direction they make him take,” Lucas Bravo told IndieWire while promoting Mélanie Laurent’s Freedom. “As they made him kind of unaware of his surroundings, of the dynamic, always victimizing and always being completely lost in translation and oblivious to anything that is happening around him and being manipulated by everyone, it kind of became not fun for me to shoot or to see a character I love so much and brought me so much, being slowly turned into guacamole. I really grew apart from him.”

Honestly it makes me really sad that a character we all love so much is becoming unrecognizable. But at the same time, it makes me feel a little bit better, because we're not the only ones who feel like Gabriel has changed. And while Lucas has done what he can to bring those early-series aspects of Gabriel back, he says "there is only so much I can do in the limits of a script.”

Netflix

“I tried for seasons to bring nuances but we don’t have much liberty on set," he continues. “It makes me question if I want to be part of Season 5…because my contract ends at Season 4. I really want to see if Gabriel gets back to his fun, cheeky, playful, alive self. Because three seasons playing melancholic, sad, depressed, and lost is not fun anymore. It’s a comedy, everybody is having fun around me, everybody is jumping around, and I’m just slowly sinking into god knows what.”

Say what now?! If Lucas Bravo leaves Emily in Paris, I truly don't know what I'd do. Gabriel is my favorite character on the show! (Or at least, early Gabriel was.) Seeing him move from 30, flirty, and thriving to someone who's consistently in the middle of an existential crisis doesn't make sense within the world of the show. And even though Lucas thinks the show has a "lack of risk," he still loves everyone involved.

“I love the show. It started everything for me. I love the show and the people in it," he says. "With saying that, I feel like I am not being nice or grateful, but when you love something you want it to be…you want the best version of it. I’m not going to lie, I’ve been frustrated with the direction by character is taking. But we’ll see where it goes. The show is not over.”

Just like the show's iconic costumes are all about expression and fun, here's hoping Emily in Paris is able to bring some life back into our favorite chef. Because if not, it sounds like we could be nearing the end of the show's most popular would-they-won't-they relationship. Fix this Netflix, I beg you!

It seems as if every day, there is another sexual misconduct accusation against another male celebrity. Stemming from the downfall of Harvey Weinstein, the #MeToo movement has supported victims and opened floodgates to a conversation about the harassment and assault of women by powerful men. But responses from women in Hollywood have been mixed. While most have thrown their support toward their colleagues (and other women, in general), others have made epic mistakes, like Lena Dunham’s controversial statement in defense of former Girls writer Murray Miller (which she later retracted).

With the accusations against Senator Al Franken coming up in the news last week, 36 Saturday Night Live staffers — all women — wrote a letter of support for the comedy show’s famous alumnus. But here’s the thing: It shouldn’t be up to women to defend men accused of terrible acts. Even if you feel torn about the behavior of a man you love or respect, it’s okay to be unsure of how to process it without giving him a pass just because he’s your friend.

In a November 16 episode of Sarah Silverman’s Hulu show, I Love You, America, the brash comedian asked outright, “Can you love someone who did bad things?” She was, of course, referencing her friend, Louis C.K., whose admission of sexual misconduct involving a number of women has left many in the comedy world reeling.

While Silverman didn’t want to have to talk about the allegations specifically, she admitted that breaking open the way women are treated is like “cutting out a tumor,” which can be messy, but is necessary for our health. “If it’s mentionable, it’s manageable,” the comedian said, admitting that while she’s still processing everything, the reality of what the victims went through is more important than how she feels about it.

“I believe with all my heart, that this moment in time is essential,” she said. “It’s vital that people are held accountable for their actions.”

Of course, Silverman isn’t the only person with complicated feelings about allegations against male friends and colleagues. After a number of women came forward this week to accuse CBS This Morning host Charlie Rose of harassment, his cohosts, Gayle King and Norah O’Donnell, addressed the allegations head-on after Rose was suspended from the show (he was later fired).

“I am not okay,” King said. “After reading that article in The Washington Post, it was deeply disturbing, troubling, and painful for me to read. That said, I think we have to make this matter to women — the women that have spoken up, the women who have not spoken up because they’re afraid. I’m hoping that now they will take the step to speak up, too, that this becomes a moment of truth.”

She went on to express the difficult emotions about her former friend and longtime cohost, saying, “I’ve enjoyed a friendship and a partnership with Charlie for the past five years. I’ve held him in such high regard and I’m really struggling because how do you, what do you say when someone that you deeply care about has done something that is so horrible? How do you wrap your brain around that? I’m really grappling with that. That said, Charlie does not get a pass here. He doesn’t get a pass from anyone in this room. We are all deeply affected, we are all rocked by this.”

While it can be easy to dismiss accusations against a friend, it is important to remember that fewer than two percent of assault allegations are false. While we may want to protect friends or people we admire from the small chance that allegations against them are false, by speaking in favor of abusers, we refuse to hold men accountable for their actions, giving them a pass.

Instead of congratulating male friends and family members for giving women basic human respect, we need to remember that all people who harm others should be held accountable for their actions. And yes, it can be challenging to learn that someone we love and admire has done a terrible thing to another person, but with one in every six women having experienced rape in our lifetime, and with the majority of those causing the assaults being a person we know, there is bound to be someone you may love or admire on the growing list of abusers.

Because if we throw our support behind the person committing the act, and not the victim, it’s simply another way to remind victims of assault that they won’t be believed or that their position makes their allegations unimportant. Just because something bad didn’t happen to you, it doesn’t mean it didn’t happen.

Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie created reality TV gold when The Simple Life debuted in 2003. Their antics were outlandish, but we couldn't help repeating their iconic phrases like "That's hot" or "Sanasa" during random moments in our own lives.

It's no secret the two didn't really act that way, but their 'characters' left a huge mark on a generation of millennials. "I knew what I was doing but the whole world didn’t, so it was kind of frustrating to me to be perceived in that way because it’s not who I am at all," Paris told People.

Even though she may have felt judged, it seems that Paris Hilton realizes how many people actually loved The Simple Life because she and Nicole Richie are teaming up to film a reunion special that'll debut on Peacock as we speak! Here's everything we know so far!

When did speculations about 'The Simple Life' reboot begin?

NBCUniversal Media

Peacock first shared a video clip on Instagram that hinted something special involving Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie is coming in May. A nostalgic TV set with a black and white screen can be seen while our favorite duo's voices can be hearing saying, "Sanasa, Sanasa."

Peacock captioned the post, "New Era. Same Besties. Coming soon to Peacock," and fans could barely contain their excitement. Even celebs like Naomi Campbell and Katy Perry commented on these hot vibes.

Bravo

Then Paris Hilton took to her own Instagram to share more about what fans could expect. She said, "As some of you may know, we are doing a reunion special to celebrate 20 years of our show The Simple Life and it's been so much fun."

Actress Selma Blair shared how much she's looking forward to this by commenting that she's "living for this."

So are we!

What was 'The Simple Life' about?

The Simple Life/20th Century Fox

The Simple Life showed Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie as they basically traded their wealthy lifestyles for 'everyday' living. Cameras followed them from fast food jobs to dealing with getting out of sticky situations they'd supposedly never experienced. Needless to say, it was hilarious, iconic, and instant reality TV gold.

How long was 'The Simple Life' on air?

The Simple Life was on air from 2003 to 2007 with five successful seasons. It seemed like it wasn't going to be hit at first, but it defied expectations. By how much you ask?

According to reporting from The Cut, somewhere around 13 million viewers tuned in to watch Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie's oddball take on daily life. That's a pretty huge deal if you ask us!

Paris & Nicole: The Encore will premiere on Peacock December 12! The two were previously seen at a Sonic drive-thru yesterday so it can be assumed filming is underway (via People)!

Sporting partial Sonic uniforms, Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie added accent pieces that match their signature flairs. Paris wore a pair of reflective sunglasses, silver sequin heels, and added a pink flip phone to front of her blue apron. Nicole wore gold hoops and a pair of slingback pumps alongside her hotdog mascot costume. That's hot (dog).

Paris Hilton has expressed how much she loves to be sharing the screen with Nicole Richie again. "I'm so excited to be doing this with Nicole on Peacock. Nicole has been my best friend since we're 2 years old, every memory that I have is with her," (via E! News).

Nicole also posted a few throwback moments from The Simple Life on her Instagram, but the most notable one is the video mashup of them singing "Sanasa, Sanasa" over and over. "20 years ago, not only did we become television stars… we became song writers. Happy Anniversary Sill @parishilton#TheSimpleLife#sannnasaaaaa" she wrote in the caption.

What have Paris and Nicole said about their reunion special?

Peacock

Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie sat down with W Magazine to let the world know the Paris & Nicole: The Encore show is on its way! Not only that, but fans can expect to see an Opera version of the show they fell in love with two decades ago. Paris said, "The idea of the opera was unexpected" while Nicole chimed in with, "What people need, even though they don't know it yet, is for 'Sanasa' to be an opera.'"

The two besties came up with the idea via a series of texts that started off as ideas between them. Nicole said everything "came up organically" for the two and we can only imagine the memories this brought up for them. OG influencer Paris even talked about how The Simple Life was an "important show in pop culture history" and we couldn't agree more!

Nicole truly wants people to enjoy themselves while watching Paris & Nicole: The Encore and "find the same joy" she had while filming it. According to Paris, she feels what they have is "magic" because "there's just so much history behind it."

It's not every day that you can get to have fun with your best friend while coming up with long-lasting memories that contribute to pop culture, but Paris and Nicole have always danced to the beat of their own drums. Now we'll get to see them in action again!
