It's no secret that I'm an absolute fiend for a good pair of sneakers. Plus, my shoe collection is constantly growing, thanks to fashion's ever-changing sneaker trends. Last year, the Adidas Sambas ran rampant. Seriously – it seemed like I couldn't go anywhere without seeing someone sporting that classic trio of stripes.

But, it's 2025 – the new year undeniably brings in a whole new set of sneaker trends, and TBH, I'm glad we're collectively moving past the Samba-fication of fashion. This year's most prominent sneaker trends are, of course, still sporty, but a lot of up-and-coming styles are more experimental when it comes to their features.

I truly want to wear all of these sneaker trends in 2025 in one way or another. Shoes will always make (or break) an outfit, so hopping on the trend bandwagon will instantly make your looks that much more iconic.

Scroll on to discover the biggest sneaker trends of 2025!

1. Old School Track-Inspired Sneakers

Puma

Puma Speedcat OG Sneakers

In 2025, we're reimagining the ever-popular three-striped sneaker, especially with designs like this that recall popular retro track and field sneakers.

The single-stripe Puma Speedcats have been spotted on numerous celebs already, so they're bound to explode into the fashion canon quite soon. Snag your suede- and leather-covered pair in this simple black + white combo for endless outfit possibilities!

SeaVees

SeaVees Acorn Trainers

If you prefer your sneaks to provide a nice pop of color, opt for these trainers from SeaVees. This bright yellow colorway is truly living in my mind rent-free, but they also come in many more playful hues like red, green, and blue. Oh, they're also extremely comfy on the feet – they'll be perfect for you if you're on your feet frequently.

Onitsuka Tiger

Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66 Sneakers

The Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66's hit the scene hard around the same time as the Adidas Sambas did, growing popular for their sporty, streamlined silhouette. You can snag 'em in plenty of different colors – I personally love this yellow + green + red combo since it sets you up nicely for pairing with pants, skirts, sweaters, and the like.

2. Velcro Sneakers

Steve Madden

Steve Madden Momentum Sneakers

I'm fully on-board with this next 2025 sneaker trend – AKA ditching pesky laces for some simpler velcro bands. Not only do these velcro-ed sneaks expedite the getting-ready process, they also add some cool visual intrigue to the bottom half of your 'fits.

Veja

Veja Recife Sneakers

These black Vejas boast a contrasting gum sole that really channels skater style – and I love it.

Charlotte Stone

Charlotte Stone Conway Sneakers

Take the colorful route with this insanely cute mismatched pair. The plethora of colors and easy velcro bands on 'em are making my inner child sohappy.

3. Stark White Sneakers

Nordstrom

Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Low Top Sneakers

Now onto the very opposite of the fun color spectrum. Stark white sneakers will be huge in 2025, especially cult-classic styles like these Converse kicks. They're easy to wear and pair, but the tricky part is just keeping them clean.

Nordstrom

Madewell Sidewalk Low Top Sneakers

When it comes to this sneaker trend, low-profile sneaks are the way to go. I think they'd be even more fun to wear with some colorful socks!

Nordstrom

Sam Edelman Pippy Platform Sneakers

For a lil' boost in height, opt for some punchy platforms. When it comes to low-top sneakers like this, cropped pants or jeans work wonderfully.

4. Technical Sneakers

Salomon

Salomon XT-6 Sneakers

This sneaker trend is by far my favorite for 2025 – likely because it speaks to the hiker in me – but technical sneakers aren't necessarily limited to outdoor adventure wear anymore! Technical sneakers still offer you all the benefits meant for athletic use, but people are wearing them way more casually these days.

Sneaks like the Salomon XT-6's (deemed 'sportstyle' shoes) have definitely earned their streetwear title, even though they were originally developed for long-distance runs in harsh conditions.

Sandy Liang's (now sold-out, but so cute) collaborative designs with Salomon showcase that these sneakers tap more into 'style' rather than 'sport', boasting ribbon laces and pristine baby pink colorways.

Keen

Keen Jasper Zionic Sneakers

Keen is another big brand when it comes to stylish technical sneaks. Their Jasper sneaker design is clearly climbing-inspired, functioning as an approach shoe if you were to hit the crag.

Though they speak strongly to my love for climbing, I'd also say that they're just as cool when worn on the streets. They've jazzed up the classic Jasper in this Jasper Zionic silhouette with more traction on the soles and 3 equally iconic colorways.

Merrell

Merrell Moab 3 Camo Waterproof Sneakers

Finally, these hiking sneakers are an undeniable fit for everyday fashion – the more-femme color palette is too cute. You could easily style them with the right skirt or mini dress. Plus, when it comes to trending colors, this brown + pink (I call it Neapolitan, like the ice cream flavor) pairing will be everywhere in 2025.

5. Ballet Sneakers

Nordstrom

Jeffrey Campbell Athletic Sneakers

Ballet sneakers are slowly becoming more and more popular. I love that they offer the cuteness of a ballet flat, but the comfort of a well-constructed sneaker. The best of both worlds awaits you with these adorable Jeffrey Campbell shoes!

Free People

Ash Rolls Sneakers

These sneaks from Ash Rolls boast a very New Balance-esuqe colorway with a combo of metallic silver and white. The key to ballet sneakers is the classic top strap!

Anthropologie

Jeffrey Campbell Regimen Ballet Sneakers

But you can also find fun lace-up styles like this, which also get right to the heart of ballet style. I'm obsessed with how far up the ankle these laces reach.

The ‘90s hails as one of the best decades for offering iconic pop culture moments, shows, and movies. But, it was an entirely different decade — one that was almost 26 years ago. Filmmakers hadn’t a clue what would change in our ever-evolving world, so I’ll cut them some slack there, but some movies have a premise that now makes you go, huh? And if you don't believe me, check out these '90s movies that I'm pretty sure wouldn't get made today.

Here are the ten '90s movies I think wouldn’t stand a chance with audiences if they were made today.

1. She’s All That (1999)

Miramax

She’s All That would not be all that if it were released in 2025in 2025. Starring Freddie Prinze Jr., who is not to blame at all for the controversial plot (we love Freddie), She’s All That reinforces the “nerdy girl turned prom queen by a popular jock” trope. In the end, the jock falls in love with her – shocker! Maybe we have She’s All That to thank for women in movies simply taking off their glasses and looking like looking like a totally different person – as if it’s ever that easy.

2. American Beauty (1999)

Dreamworks

American Beauty would make people cringe in their oversized, plush movie seats if it were to come out today. Ignoring the fact Kevin Spacey is the film’s protagonist, the premise is all kinds of creepy. A grown man becomes increasingly attracted to his daughter’s ((yes I said daughter)) friend as the movie courses through its two--hour runtime. Something in me tells me this romanticized version of perversion would definitely not be made today.

3. Forrest Gump (1994)

Paramount Pictures

Don’t get me wrong, I love a good viewing of Forrest Gump.. WhoWho doesn’t? It’s a classic tale about a man named Forrest, played by Tom Hanks, narrating audiences through his untamed life account. It’s virtually harmless, disregarding the fact that Hank’s character has an IQ of 75 as well as a physical disability. It’s hard to imagine modern audiences responding as well to this as it could be seen as a crude representation of people with disabilities. While it may not be made today, it’s an inspiring story nonetheless where Hank’s character wins in the end.

4. There’s Something About Mary (1998)

20th Century Fox

I recently took it upon myself to watch this "classic," and it was underwhelming and a tad jarring for multiple reasons. The most prominent was its main plot point of men stalking a woman strictly based on her looks. Not very demure, and definitely not very mindful!

5. American Pie (1999)

Universal Pictures

Where do I begin with American Pie? It may be blatant to most, but American Pie would be scrutinized to no end if it were released today, mainly due to its exploitative scenes and portrayal of teenage sexuality. It features scenes that were considered raunchy at the time – the BIG one being a teenager filming himself having sex with an unconsenting girl – but the humor doesn’t hold up (as it shouldn’t) and would face much more scrutiny if made today (as it should)... Nevertheless, it was a comical movie in its heyday.

6. Hackers (1995)

United Artists

Hackers wouldn’t be made in 2025 for one simple reason: the technology is far superior now. The concept of a group of teenagers hacking into a computer system is far too simplistic for younger audiences who probably delete scam text messages on the daily. It now reigns as a cult classic, but I’d like to think it’s purely for nostalgic sentiment.

7. Chasing Amy (1997)

Miramax

A man going after a lesbian woman who “transforms” into being straight, yeah I’m going to have to say this film is pretty dated.. While it pales in comparison to the backlash the film receives today, the film garnered criticism from the LGBTQ+ community soon after its release. According to Entertainment Weekly, Ellen DeGeneres walked out of a screening of the film in 1997.

8. Dazed and Confused (1993)

Gramercy Pictures

Dazed and Confused is considered a lighthearted cult classic, but the film wouldn’t be praised as such if it were made today. As years have gone by, the fictional context the film’s premise is built on isn’t so fictional today. There’s hazing, bullying, and sexual innuendos amongst teens that are featured in an outdated, insensitive light. All of this is portrayed as a fact of ’90s highschool life giving into the notion that things such as bullying is normal and accepted. Now, if those same plot points are in a film, they’re usually put into a negative light, as they should be. Nevertheless, Dazed and Confused remains a nostalgic 90s watch for a lot of viewers. After all, we have this movie to thank for the iconic Matthew McConaughey line “alright, alright, alright.”

9. Mrs. Doubtfire (1993)

20th Century Fox

As comical and heartwarming as Mrs. Doubtfire is, it has just as many red flags. In the midst of a divorce, a woman’s ex-husband invades her privacy and dresses up as their children’s nanny to spend time with them when he quite literally has a court order not to do so – oh? When you look at this film's plot with a bird’s eye view, it seems invasive and alarming, and that’s because it is. Though, I’m willing to forgive this film’s evident issues for the mere fact that Sally Field and Robin Williams are a dream team and gave wonderful performances in their respective roles.

10. Never Been Kissed (1999)

20th Century Fox

What was considered a cute rom-com in 1999, Never Been Kissed would now be considered quite the opposite. When watching, it’s easy to forget that Drew Barrymore’s character falls in love with a teacher, while she’s disguised as a teenage high school student. If your reaction was to be revolted, I can’t blame you. Let’s have this ‘90s film and its weird plot stay put in the past.

What to Expect in Your February Horoscope for 2025

Isabella Bonnet

While Mars retrograde continues, this month proves to be lovely and filled with possibilities. Now that the action planet is still in its backspin motion, it doesn’t mean you should be holding back from visualizing your dreams. Appreciate the stillness and explore different possibilities before deciding what’s right for you. Although you may feel like a sitting duck, I beg to differ. This Mars retrograde proves to be a test of our will by not being impulsive. Luckily, Mars goes direct later this month, so hang on tight before losing momentum.

February is off to a fiery start as Venus moves into Aries on Tuesday, February 4. Love and relationships will take on a new tempo, either sultry or temperamental. It's a period to experience excitement or realize what needs to be refined in your connection. On the same day, Jupiter, the planet of luck, goes direct! You will begin to see the silver lining in your journey and even the solution in how you can proceed. It's also a time to see how fate has played out in your story. If you're discontent, this is your chance to turn your life around. Having a little faith will take you much further than lowering your vibration with negativity. Listen to a mentor or take on a new sacred practice that elevates your well-being. Follow through with your promises and brighten someone’s day. Pay it forward to turn the tides.

The Full Moon in Leo illuminates the sky and infuses us with optimism and renewal on Wednesday, February 12. Full Moons denote the need to let go and move on from what no longer serves your highest good. The great news is that this celestial event leaves us with a glimmer of hope and the willingness to close the chapter. On Friday, February 14, our communication ability will be poetic and ethereal as Mercury moves into Pisces. If you plan to go out on Valentine’s Day this year, expect this day to be more romantic than in past years. Speaking from the heart and through feeling will result better than pride or logic. Be playful and in the moment. Cherish your love.

Abbie Bythewood

The mist begins to thicken, and our intuition heightens as the Sun moves into Pisces on Tuesday, February 18. This season is all about fine-tuning our empathy and interconnectedness with life. Inner reflection and exploring your artistic side will help you stay centered. Honor your sensitivity and be unconditional. On Sunday, February 23, the motivation planet Mars goes direct. It’s not time to push through with an agreement or project. Recalibrate and pick up from where you left off last October 2024. This is your time to decide whether an idea or concept stays or goes. Expect traction and things to pick up speed in the next several weeks.

In closing, the New Moon in emotive Pisces happens on Thursday, February 27. It’s time to start a new chapter involving your subconscious beliefs. This lunation will imbue you with the ability to trust the Universe and dream bigger. Hold onto the faith and set small steps to cultivate your vision.

This is a period for you to do inner work while also getting to the bottom of any unanswered questions involving your intimate relationships, dealings with resources, and Self. Be reflective and trust your intuition. On February 23, Mars turns direct in your twelfth house, and your inner world becomes more active, guiding you toward spiritual growth and the courage to release hidden fears. The New Moon in Pisces on February 27 further illuminates these findings while offering a fresh start in these areas of your life—whether through healing, letting go of past baggage, or creating more meaningful connections. Begin a new era that aligns with your well-being — but it's crucial to factor in your true feelings for the best results.

Starting with the love planet Venus, blazing in your eighth house of vulnerable and intimate connections, you will learn how to deepen your bonds. Clear the air by arranging a sit down with those who need to hear you out.
