‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Boss Teases What’s Ahead for Meredith in the ‘Season of Love’

Grey’s Anatomy‘s titular leading lady, Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo), has been single since the departure of Nathan Riggs (Martin Henderson). And while she certainly doesn’t need a man — she is, after all, a Harper Avery Award-winning surgeon who successfully juggles a career, friends, and single motherhood — series showrunner Krista Vernoff told TVLinethat she will indeed find love again in season 15.

Buzz around Dr. Grey’s love life sparked Tuesday, August 7, when ABC president Channing Dungey told TVLine the character would remain single for the time being. “Meredith [is going to] have a new trajectory that is more focused on who she is as a single mother and surgeon,” Dungey said. “Ellen has spoken very loudly about how she doesn’t want all of Meredith’s adventures to be romantic ones.”

One day later, though, Vernoff added an asterisk to Dungey’s claim, saying, “Channing was keeping it mellow and trying to avoid spoilers because Shondaland is secrecy land. But as the showrunner, I can confirm for you that Meredith Grey is very much a part of our Season of Love.”

Vernoff noted that Meredith’s kids and “game-changing medical ideas” would be a big part of her story, but that the writers wanted to pick up the thread they started last season when Scott Speedman guest-starred as Dr. Nick Marsh, whose brief stint as Meredith’s patient “awoke a desire in her that she can’t put back to sleep.”

“The question this season,” Vernoff told TVLine, “is not ‘Will Meredith Grey find love again,’ but ‘With whom will she find love?'”

Unfortunately for fans, it probably won’t be with Speedman’s Nick Marsh. Vernoff said that character was “designed as a one-episode guest star.”

Grey’s Anatomy season 15 will premiere on Thursday, September 27, at 8/7c on ABC.

1923 season 2 is only 19 days away, and I am on the edge of my seat just thinking about what happens to Spencer, Alex, and the rest of the Duttons. If you're like me and have absolutely no chill about the upcoming episodes, then there's a chance you've also been rewatching the 1923 season 2 trailer. No matter how many times you've watched it, you might have missed the Yellowstone Easter egg fans are convinced they found. Well, until now.

Here's the one potential Yellowstone Easter egg you probably missed in the 1923 season 2 trailer.

Okay so there's a lot that happens in this trailer. Spencer is making his way across the American countryside (and remembering his time fighting in World War I) while Banner Creighton looks to build his own army because, as he admits, Spencer scares him.

Alex remains on the ship to London, and has to fight her way out of a precarious situation when a man grabs her from behind, while Teonna's armed and dangerous (although, even when she's not armed she's dangerous). Meanwhile, Cara and Jacob are pulling out all the stops to defend the ranch as they await Spencer's return.

But there's one detail that has 1923 fans in a tizzy: it looks like we might get a glimpse at the Train Station.

Now, the Train Station isn't a literal train station (despite the fact we see a literal train station in the trailer), but rather a rural area where the Duttons and other characters within the Yellowstone universe dispose of dead bodies. Yikes. And in a quick glimpse, we can see Banner Creighton and two other men throwing a dead body into the canyon.

"Did we just see the origins of the TRAIN STATION?" one Instagram user asks in the comments of the trailer, while another says, "I think we did."

We'll have to wait to find out when new episodes drop February 23. Until then, we'll just have to wonder who the heck they've murdered (Whitfield?!).

While Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively's legal battle has become the most-talked about part of It Ends With Us, there's one other aspect of the film that comes close: Blake's costumes. When paparazzi shots of the actress went viral on social media, fans had very strong reactions to her character Lily's styling — especially after it was revealed Blake was in charge of her own wardrobe. Well, in his new website reporting a full timeline of events, Justin says these outfits also pushed the movie's budget over $430K.

Here's the latest news on Blake Lively's It Ends With Us outfits.

The 'It Ends With Us' wardrobe department spent over half a million dollars.

In an April 25, 2023 email exchange Justin published on the website, a line producer writes that "wardrobe's budget for spending is $185K. Normally wardrobe over spends and then does tons of returns and ends up in budget."

"To date they've already spent $615K, and they need their cashet cards all replenished because they've only shopped for Justin and Blake," the email continues. "They had to reshop everything for Blake after creative changes, but it's a lot of money. I trust them of course, but want to keep you all posted as this is way more than I've ever seen wardrobe go over budget with the initial spend."

Despite going over budget, Blake Lively revealed on TODAY that "a lot" of the costumes in the movie are "my real life clothes or my husband's clothes, or my girlfriend Gigi [Hadid's] clothes. I was borrowing some...It's like a wedding! Something old, something borrowed, something blue, something new." ("And there it is," one X user writes. "A lot of clothes used in the movie It Ends With Us are Blake’s clothes. Which explains why the styling is horrible.")

All this leads me to ask...what the heck were they spending $615K on?!

But they were determined to show off Lily's power.

Blake collaborated with costume designer Eric Daman (who was also the costume designer on Gossip Girl) for It Ends With Us, who told The Hollywood Reporter he was dedicated to finding unique items for the film.

"I was inspired to bring in some very special, one-of-a-kind vintage pieces," he says. "Blake and I had very, very similar thoughts on that, leaning into the bin clothing and kind of striking this balance between masculine and feminine elements. We don’t want Lily to appear like a shrinking violet. She is a very strong-willed, self-empowered woman and I think it was very important not to lean into clothing where it felt more delicate."

If you're waiting for 1923 season 2, I've got good news for you. You don't have to spend the next month rewatching season 1 because Netflix just dropped a brand new TV show that is giving MAJOR Yellowstone universe vibes. Set in 1857, American Primeval is all about family and survival, which sounds a lot like the Duttons if you ask me. Lock in, friends, because you'll probably binge it in one sitting.

Here's everything you need to know about American Primeval, streaming on Netflix now.

Where can I watch American Primeval?

All six episodes of American Primeval are available to watch on Netflix now. The episodes range from 36 minutes to just over an hour. That means it's the perfect TV show to binge watch this weekend!

What is American Primeval about?

In 1857 Utah, cultures clash when Indigenous peoples, settlers, and the Mormon militia begin a fight for the land. Sara (Betty Gilpin) and Devin (Preston Mota) are searching for Devin's father when they meet Two Moons (Shawnee Pourier), a Native American who escaped abuse. When their group is attacked, the trio is taken under the wing of Isaac (Taylor Kitsch).

And fans are loving it! One X user tweeted that it's "one of the best series Netflix has made," while another calls it a "masterpiece."

Who's in the cast?

American Primeval stars Taylor Kitsch as Isaac Reed, Betty Gilpin as Sara Rowell, Dane DeHaan as Jacob Pratt, Saura Lightfoot-Leon as Abish Pratt, Derek Hinkey as Red Feather, Joe Tippett as James Wolsey, Jai Courtney as Virgil Cutter, Preston Mota as Devin Rowell, Shawnee Pourier as Two Moons, and Shea Whigham as Jim Bridger.

Is American Primeval true?

Matt Kennedy/Netflix

American Primeval is a fictionalized version of history, so while it features real events like the Utah War and the Mountain Meadows Massacre (in which the Mormon militia murdered a wagon train of travelers on their way to California), the details and main characters were created for the series.

But one real detail about the TV show? Taylor Kitsch learned the Shoshone language from elders at the Wind River Reservation for his role as Isaac. "One of my dialect coaches, she's in her late 70s and the last thing she wants to do is get this language written down," he told Q's Tom Power. "I'm so lucky to do this kind of stuff."

"To give yourself to a project worth telling….You're servicing something bigger than you," he continues. "There's a legacy. There's something there that humbles you quite quickly and I love that challenge."

Will there be a season 2 for American Primeval?

American Primeval was originally released as a limited series. But given the success of the show, I wouldn't be surprised if we ended up getting a new season! Stay tuned for updates on American Primeval season 2.

Every Gilmore Girls fan remembers exactly where they were when they heard THOSE final four words at the end of Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. You know the ones — Lorelai and Rory are sitting on the steps of the gazebo, when Rory says, "Mom?" "Yeah?" Lorelai replies. "I'm pregnant." I'M SORRY?!

Some fans think the writers' decision to have Rory get pregnant traps her in an "embarrassingly depressing" cycle, while others think it's a beautiful way to tie the story back to its beginning. But while it's been all but confirmed the baby is Logan's, one Reddit theory actually ties Rory's pregnancy to Paris of all people — and it makes the ending so much better.

Keep reading for the Rory and Paris Gilmore Girls theory would totally change the ending.

This 'Gilmore Girls' theory centers Rory and Paris (as it should).

According to @floatingwithobrien on Reddit, "Logan isn't the dad. Neither is Jess or the Wookiee or Paul or Dean or Colin or Finn or Robert."

You'll remember that in the "Summer" episode of the Netflix miniseries, Rory hopes that Paris, who runs a fertility clinic, might "let me be one of her surrogates. She's always liked my teeth."

"Maybe Rory simply chose a particularly dramatic way of informing her mother of this new career," the Reddit user continues. "Are you all happy now? I gave you an out. Rory isn't going to be a mom, she's a surrogate, because she needs the cash. She has been artificially inseminated so she can sell the resultant child to a couple in need. (For anyone sensitive about fertility issues, this is a hard /s, just FYI.)"

This theory totally reframes those final four words because considering so much of Lorelai's story involves her feeling like she had no choice, making Rory a surrogate gives her ultimate agency over her life. "Paris is the dad (so to speak)," @floatingwithobrien says. "Eat it up, kids."

And other fans are totally running with it! "Finally someone else thinks this too!" prosperosniece says. "My guess is that Rory is carrying a baby for Michel in exchange for money to get her masters degree so she can teach at Chilton."

However, BrownieEdges points out that "she’s not selfless enough to carry a baby for someone else." Yikes.

But if the baby really is Logan's, and Rory raises them, Lauren Graham has her "own fantasy" for how A Year in the Life season 2 could open.

"I think it's gonna be a girl and I think she calls her another permutation of Lorelai, cause you know Rory's short for Lorelai," she said during her Have I Told You This Already? book tour. "And I'm gonna go with Lola. I made all of that up, don't get me in trouble!"

Baby Lola!! I just know that Lorelai would make a fantastic grandmother, and she'd totally spoil her granddaughter with tons of coffee and incredible music. (Plus killer fashion accessories). Scott Patterson told me he's "always hopeful" for a Gilmore Girls revival so hopefully one day we'll find out what Lorelai and Rory's life looks like in 2025!
