The Most Searched Winter Coats of the Season, According to Lyst

Arguably the most important purchase you’ll make all season, your winter coat sets the sartorial tone for the coming months — and gets seen by the most eyes. While the choice is a pretty personal one, with style, comfort, and budget all among the deciding factors, it always helps to know what everyone else is shopping, right? Right. We turned to the folks at trendy e-commerce platform Lyst to give us the lowdown on what coat searches are lighting up their site this season.

As it turns out, shoppers begin searching the term “winter coat” in the first week of August. Yes, we said August. While the dog days of summer are still scorching away in most places, many savvy (or overzealous, depending on how you look at it) shoppers are already planning their cold-weather wardrobes. Those searches steadily increase until the second week of November, however, with the average shopper looking at a coat three times before buying it. So if you haven’t found your perfect pick yet, you’re not alone. Brit + Co Pick: Mango Oversized Faux Fur Coat ($143)

So what trends are topping shoppers’ wish lists? According to the data, the most commonly searched coats this season are “checked,” “puffers,” “shearling,” and (mostly faux) “fur.” Since options abound from fast fashion to luxury price points, this bodes well for all of us.

And while outerwear has taken a more statement direction in recent seasons, it appears nothing can top the classics just yet, with most shoppers narrowing down options in black, followed by navy, gray, cream, red, and brown. The power of this season’s MVP hue is worth noting, though. “Red coats” is the fastest growing search term for outerwear, according to the platform, and there are 23 percent more selections on Lyst than this time last year. You’ve been warned. Brit + Co Pick: Zara Hooded Puffer Coat ($119)

Consider yourself officially ready to score your ideal outerwear piece. Whether you follow the crowd or go off the beaten path, one thing’s for certain: Winter 2017 promises to be a stylish one. Brit + Co Pick: BB Dakota Bosworth Shearling Lined Jacket ($150)

The internet agrees that rom-coms are back (hello Materialists!), but the only thing I enjoy more than watching a romantic movie? Binging a romance TV show. So I rounded up 11 of the best series you can watch on Netflix this weekend (and rewatch before all episodes of Ransom Canyon drop on the streamer!)

Here are the 11 best romance TV shows to stream on Netflix right now.

1. Nobody Wants This

Saeed Adyani/Netflix

2. My Life With The Walter Boys

Netflix

After a tragedy changes Jackie's life forever, the city girl moves in with her mom's best friend — and her seven sons. Welcomed into the family, Jackie finds herself particularly pulled between Alex and Cole. Check out the latest season 2 news on this romance TV show.

For any Netflix viewers who need more than just romance to get through a show, check out Kate Hudson's Running Point! The series follows Isla, who takes over her brother's role as President of the Los Angeles Waves basketball team. And she's proving you really can work and play.
