9 Mother’s Day Brunch Recipe Ideas That Your Kids Can Help Make

It may be time to retire that annual Mother’s Day breakfast in bed this year. While you love that your little ones put in the effort, that early morning wake-up? On a Sunday? No, thanks. Instead of a crack-of-dawn stack of pancakes, skip the morning meal and bring on brunch! And don’t stress about whipping up a celebratory feast by yourself. These Mother’s Day brunch ideas are easy enough for the kiddos to help out with. Whether it’s measuring, mixing, or adding the finishing touches, your child can get in on the cooking action and help make mama’s day in the best possible way.

1. Brown Sugar Bacon Buttermilk Waffles: This sweet and savory treat covers all the brunch bases with its unexpected bite of bacon tucked inside warm, fluffy waffles. While your kids needn’t do the actual cooking, they can get out the measuring cups, fill them, and mix everything together. They can also help out with the crucial step of pouring syrup on the bacon-y goodness. (via Brown Eyed Baker)

2. Southern Biscuits With Chocolate Gravy: Biscuits and gravy gets a serious upgrade with this recipe that’s far from your everyday fare. Bonus: Watching the biscuits transform from a handful of ingredients into fully formed little mounds is a super cool (not to mention tasty) science experiment for the kids. (via Sprinkle Bakes)

3. Homemade Apple Pie Pop Tarts: Prove to your kiddos that pop tarts don’t need to come from the store — or a box. As your child measures and mixes, you can prep the rest of the recipe. This take-it-with-you alternative to apple pancakes, fritters, or the real deal (pie) is a fun way to celebrate you on the big day. (via Rasberri Cupcakes)

4. 10 Minute S’mores Granola: Two favorites come together in this sweet morning treat. Have your kids gather the ingredients and mix them up in a bowl. After you handle cooking the granola mix in a skillet, all that’s left to do is dig in and enjoy! (via Baking Bites)

5. Runny Egg BLT Sandwich: No, your kiddo can’t cook the eggs. But they can take the prepped and cooked foods, stack them, and create the best brunch sandwich you’ve ever had. (via Smitten Kitchen)

6. Eggs, Bacon, and Mac & Cheese: Go all in on the breakfast plus lunch combo with this skillet of pure deliciousness. Your kids don’t seem to like anything other than mac and cheese anyway. And you’re craving a classic egg and bacon breakfast. That’s a win-win if we ever tasted one! (via i am a food blog)

7. Pesto Flatbread With Fried Egg and Arugula: So your kids just won’t eat their veggies? Maybe if the vegetables are on a pizza they will. This combines the best part of breakfast with a fab pizza lunch. The kids can arrange the ingredients on the flatbread crust before you pop it in the oven. (via Rachel Cooks)

8. Blueberry Yogurt Multigrain Pancakes: Don’t let the “multigrain” deter you — these little hotcakes are still a decadent brunch indulgence the whole family can agree on. Put your kids in charge of the mix-ins and quality control. (via Smitten Kitchen)

9. Broccoli Salad: Chock-full of scrumptious apples, walnuts, and cranberries, this salad has something for everyone. Balance the sweetness of waffles and other sugary recipes with this healthy option that’s anything but boring. (via Bowl of Delicious)

Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively just premiered their new movie Another Simple Favor at the 2025 SXSW Festival (you can stream it on Prime Video May 1), and aside from buzz about the movie itself, the internet is going wild for one simple reason. Anna Kendrick got a little sassy when asked what it was like to reunite with Blake for the film, and while the drama surrounding Blake's It Ends With Us legal battle didn't delay the movie, social media users can't stop talking about Anna's reaction.

Here's what Anna Kendrick said about working with Blake Lively on Another Simple Favor.

Anna Kendrick's comments about Blake Lively just went viral.

While greeting fans at the movie premiere, Anna was asked what it meant to be working with Blake again, to which Anna doesn't even stop. She just responds, "Oh, you know."

"'Oh you know' are the exact words I say when someone asks me how I am and I am barely hanging on," one TikTok user jokes in the comments, while another speculates, "I think she hates the hate Blake is getting and how the media is out to get click bait from her about it."

@varietymagazine How is the release of "Another Simple Favor" being affected by everything going on in the world? Anna Kendrick: "Why, what happened? I did ayahuasca and the last year of my life is just gone." #SXSW♬ original sound - Variety

The actress was also asked about "everything going on" (undoubtedly alluding to the It Ends With Us drama), to which Anna responded, "Why, what happened? I did ayahuasca and the last year of my life is just gone."

Anna is known for her sense of humor, and TikTok users commented saying this "was a phenomenal answer" and that she's "effortlessly funny."

Anna opened up about reuniting with Blake for the sequel, telling People in October 2024 that getting cast members from the first A Simple Favor back together again was "a little bit like riding a bike."

"She lives on the East Coast, I live on the West Coast, so we don't get to see each other often," she says. "But it was lovely, and I think that those characters have such weird chemistry that it's so fun to just get the gang back together."

And when someone tweeted that Blake Lively was "terrified to walk the carpet" and Anna Kendrick was "pissed and never wants to work with her again," director Paul Feig retweeted with a simple, "Um … you’re wrong." And I'll take his word for it.

Easter has always been a time for family, faith, and fun — but as the years pass by, some of the most classic traditions seem to be fading away, whether due to increasingly busy schedules, more casual modern celebrations, or even the rise of technology.

Still, there's something special about the old-school customs that truly capture the essence of the holiday. From getting dressed in your Sunday best to baking hot cross buns, here are the Easter traditions we wish would make a comeback.

Scroll to see which old-schoolEaster traditions we totally miss!

1. Wearing Easter Bonnets

Etsy

For decades, Easter Sunday wasn't just a day to celebrate family and faith but also an opportunity to dress up in your finest attire, complete with a bonnet or hat.

Dating back centuries, people topped off their Easter Sunday outfits with colorful Easter bonnets (like this one) that featured flowers, ribbons, or even lace. The tradition was so iconic that in 1933, Irving Berlin sang, "You'll be the grandest lady in the Easter parade."

2. Gifting Easter Corsages

Tony Meyers

Gifting corsages isn't just for proms or weddings. It was also once a staple for holidays like Easter.

Men would purchase corsages for the women in their lives, like their mothers, wives, or daughters, and pin them on to add a special touch to their Easter outfits.

Bringing back this tradition would revive a meaningful gesture and add even more style to your holiday celebration.

3. Enjoying A Classic Easter Feast

cottonbro studio

Dining on a classic Easter feast brings families together. For many, the holiday marks the end of Lent, a period when Catholics typically give up certain treats. So, it makes chowing down on a big meal even more special, as you'll get to indulge in the foods you've abstained from for 40 days.

We know it can be tough to coordinate fancy feasts today, but this tradition is well worth your effort. Pay homage to classic dishes like ham or lamb chops, deviled eggs, and fresh carrots. Plus, get your family involved in the food preparation to make some meaningful memories.

4. Good Old-Fashioned Easter Egg Hunts

Eren Li

In a world where devices often take center stage, the classic Easter egg hunt offers a much-needed break from screens and encourages kids to unplug, run, and explore. The beauty of this timeless tradition lies in its simplicity and ability to bring communities together.

Yes, you can just hide eggs around your own living room or backyard to keep your kids busy. However, there's something to be said about gathering with other families in your neighborhood for a big old-fashioned hunt. Coming together presents an opportunity to connect with neighbors and pass down the practice to the next generation.

5. Sending Easter Lilies

Meri Verbina

Sending Easter lilies carries deep symbolic meaning and offers a beautiful way to celebrate the season.

These elegant white flowers represent purity, renewal, and hope. In many cultures, they're believed to have sprouted where Christ's blood and tears fell during the crucifixion and in the Garden of Gethsemane following his betrayal.

Sending someone a lily during Easter is a thoughtful gesture that signifies faith, remembrance, and the promise of new beginnings.

6. Baking Hot Cross Buns

Taryn Elliott

Hot cross buns, which are sweet, spiced, and adorned with a cross on top, have been made and enjoyed for centuries, often on Good Friday or Easter Sunday.

We understand that it might just be easier to pick them up at your local bakery. Nonetheless, baking this treat with loved ones is a tradition that will create lasting connections and memories.

7. Donning Your Sunday Best

Anastasia Shuraeva

Traditionally, if you and your family were attending church on Easter, you had to look your best. Putting on your finest clothes is more than just a fashion statement; it's a way to honor the significance of the holiday and show respect.

This trend has mellowed out in the modern day, but it deserves a resurgence. Iron your suits, polish your shoes, and don't be afraid to wear lace or floral patterns. Your outfit will set the tone for the day (and make for a great family photo).

8. Being Present For Family Time

cottonbro studio

Speaking of family, being present for quality time isn't just lost on Easter; it's a tradition that's struggling to persevere on practically every holiday.

Today, screens and schedules often take priority, making it tough to truly connect with loved ones. Easter is the perfect time to put your phone away, turn off the TV, and talk to those around you. Share a meal, play a game, or just enjoy each other's company. You'll be thankful you did when you look back years down the line.

Daylight saving time is finally here so we've been thinking about the cute spring outfits we want to wear. We've already found the most flattering petite jeans to dance into, but now we're setting our sights on plus-size skirts that won't make us look frumpy. If it's not obvious, we firmly reject the idea that someone's height or weight indicates they're unable to dress fashionably — how "outdated!"

Since we know you're looking for curvy-girl approved options, we have the perfect skirts that'll take you from dinner parties to that upcoming spring break trip you're ready for!

Scroll to find the cutest plus-size skirts that'll make you feel like the stylish fashionista you are!

Anthropologie

Anthropologie The Tilda Maxi Slip Skirt

We can always count on a satin skirt to be consistent year-round! Not only are they versatile, but they're flattering for all body types! But this version features a side split that has "girl dinner" etched into every seam. Or you can always wear it during your planned solo date outing!

Lane Bryant

Lane Bryant High-Rise Denim Pencil Skirt

You either hate to see denim skirts coming or you're madly in love with them. Between us, we're in the latter group after seeing Lane Bryant's take on them. The darker wash has an air of spring sophistication about it that makes it workwear-friendly, plus it'll take you to happy hour with your friends!

Pretty Little Thing

Pretty Little Thing Plus Tan Faux Suede Skirt

Got plans to attend an influencer event soon? You'll need a skirt that errs between professional and stylish. Since Pretty Little Thing's "controversial" rebrand, we've been seeing elevated styles that suggest they're catering to an audience that's redefining their idea of fun.

Our verdict for this suede mini number? Yes and yes!

ELOQUII

ELOQUII x Kate Spade NY Stripe Trumpet Skirt

Picture this: You're enjoying a nice trip to a vineyard for wine tasting and have found the perfect field of tulips to frolic in. How cool would it be if you were wearing this gorgeous trumpet skirt and a cute pink cardigan? We say it'll be very cool.

Macy's

And Now This Rhinestone-Embellished Skirt

Slip skirts are everything but boring. For example, look at this rhinestone cutie. It's saying, "I'm ready for a little blind-date action" without being overboard. The last thing you'll want to do this spring is wearing huge sequins on a first date unless your suitor's invited you to a themed party!

Ulla Popken

Von Laden Ribbon Trim Accent Skirt

Live a little this spring and lean into something that feels perfect for Easter. It's a great option to wear to your church's annual picnic because it's reminiscent of the beautiful colors found in nature.

Unique Vintage

Unique Vintage 1940s Plaid Boucle Trumpet Skirt

Do you need another trumpet skirt? No, but we bet you're eyeing this vintage-inspired one anyway. We don't know why, but plaid means a lot to our inner preppy girl and we're sure you feel the same.

Torrid

Torrid Retro Swing Skirt

Ella Fitzgerald said it best: "It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing." We doubt she was referring to this skirt, but the rules still apply for plus-size clothing.

This is a flattering and comfortable piece that'll keep you cool on days where the temperature's teetering between spring and summer, but we only have one piece of advice: avoid wearing on windy days!

Ashley Stewart

Ashley Stewart Button Embellished Midi Skirt

Stop! According to us, you need this gorgeous embellished skirt that'll get you compliments wherever you go. It almost appears A-line, but the hem stops short of that so you won't feel restricted while walking around.

BloomChic

BloomChic Ditsy Floral Print Skirt

We can still hear Miranda Priestly's chilling voice in our ear, but what's spring fashion without florals? We don't want to know so we're sharing this cute piece with you. Plus, the elastic waist seems like the perfect addition if you're going to a 5-course dinner party.

City Chic

City Chic Kyra Leopard Print Skirt

Leopard print still has its claws in us, but we're not ashamed. It's one of the easiest patterns to style because you wear a cute green, red, or pink top with it to make it spring-friendly. And once you add a nice pair shoes, you'll be ready for all the photo-ops on your upcoming trip!

Ashley Stewart

Ashley Stewart Mermaid Denim Skirt

Did you know all denim skirts aren't created equal? It's something we should be knowledgeable about, but fashion keeps surprising us!

This mermaid-style design's thrown us for a loop in the best way because it's meant to accentuate your figure without making you feel like you have to squeeze into it. After all, there's no fun in that.

Amazon

Moon Wood Pleated Maxi Skirt

You need a willowy skirt that's going to take you from walking around an outdoor festival to dancing non-stop when your favorite performers hit the main stage. Take it from us, you need something as cute and cozy as this pleated maxi skirt.

Target

Universal Thread Eyelet Maxi Skirt

We think our hearts just skipped several beats because this eyelet skirt looks like a princesses dream come true! While that may be a slight exaggeration, the beauty of this piece isn't! It even comes with a matching top!
