3 Movies To Stream Before They Leave Netflix August 1

movies leaving netflix august 2024 waves

The great thing about streaming new movies on Netflix is that they're available whenever you want to pop some popcorn and press play. And getting a brand new title can make your relaxing binge session even more exciting! But that also means certain flicks get removed. Here are three movies to watch before July ends, and they move to another platform.

Warner Bros. Entertainment

King Richard (2021)

If the Paris Olympics are putting you in a sporty mood (or if you're still not over Challengers — both are valid), press play on King Richard. This movie tells the true story of Richard Williams (played by Will Smith), and his journey to help his daughters, Venus and Serena (Saniyya Sidney and Demi Singleton), become tennis legends.

Yes, Will Smith won an Oscar for this movie the night of The Slap. But I'd rather talk about the fact the real Venus and Serena Williams are executive producers and that Beyoncé and DIXSON won Best Original Song at the Hollywood Critics Association Awards for "Be Alive."

The movie has a 90 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a 98 percent audience score, which proves this one is worth the watch.

Warner Bros. Entertainment/Columbia Pictures

Something's Gotta Give (2003)

Coastal Grandma summer isn't over yet! And nobody does Coastal Grandmother like Nancy Meyers. This summer movie follows Harry (Jack Nicholson) and his young girlfriend Marin (Amanda Peet) during their trip to her family's Hamptons house. But when they realize Marin's mom Erica (played by Diane Keaton) is also staying the weekend, things get a little more complicated — especially once Harry starts falling for Erica.

If you're looking for a movie that is pure nostalgia and pure vibes, then this is the perfect post-work, in your PJ's movie. It'll shake you right out of your Monday blues! Plus there is literally nothing more iconic than Diane Keaton's sweater + bucket hat + trousers.

Waves (2019)

Still missing Euphoria season 3? We might not be able to see Alexa Demie as Maddy until next year but you can see her in Waves. The Williams family — Tyler (Kelvin Harrison Jr.), Emily (Taylor Russell), Ronald (Sterling K. Brown), and Catherine (Renée Elise Goldsberry) — must navigate loss and forgiveness after a tragedy that tests their bonds as a family.

Waves has a rating of 7.5 out of 10 on IMDb, and an 84 percent Rotten Tomatoes score. If you need extra convincing, my group chat still talks about this movie 5 years later. That's how impactful it is.

Everybody raise your Kir Royale cocktails because Emily in Paris has just been renewed for season 5! (And it looks like she might be trading some of her cocktails for espresso). The official Emily in Paris & Netflix Instagram accounts made the announcement on September 16 with a video of Lily Collins sipping some espresso on a rooftop.

"There's no place like Rome," Lily says with a wink. And, to be frank, we have to agree. I didn't think Emily in Parisseason 4 (or its fashion) could get any better after that Part 1 ending, but taking our favorite Parisians to Rome turned out to be a fantastic move — and not just because it introduced us to Marcello. Here's everything you need to know about Emily in Paris season 5.

Is there a season 5 for Emily in Paris?

Yes, Emily in Paris season 5 is coming to Netflix. "We’re thrilled with the incredible response to this season of Emily in Paris and excited to return for a fifth to continue Emily’s adventures in Rome and Paris!" creator Darren Star tells TUDUM.

The renewal comes as no surprise considering season 4 held Netflix Global Top 10's top spot and received almost 20 million views in four days.

When is Emily in Paris season 5 coming out?

Emily in Paris Season 5 Release Date

We don't have an official release date yet, but considering seasons 1 through 3 only had a year in between them, we could see Emily in Paris season 5 in 2025. (Season 4 suffered a delay due to the 2023 Hollywood strikes).

What is Emily in Paris season 5 about?

Emily in Paris Season 5 Plot

The Emily in Paris season 4 finale changed everything when Emily decided to stay in Rome and head up an Italian office for Agence Grateau. But, don't worry French fans. Darren Star promises we'll see her in the City of Love again, telling The Wrap, "definitely we’re not leaving Paris behind.”

And after Gabriel realized how much he wants to be with Emily in the season 4 finale, it looks like season 5 will feature even more of the show's signature relationship drama. "I think [Gabriel] realized that he wasn’t even aware of the fact that [Emily] left and how disconnected they’d become," Star continues. "He’s met the guy; he realizes the circumstances under which they met, and I think he just didn’t understand how fast things had moved between them."

But as much as we love to see Emily and Gabriel together, Lily Collins is excited to explore a Emily and Marcello. “Marcello is a whole other adventure that we want for Emily because we ultimately want Emily to be able to have a better work/life balance,” she tells TUDUM. “We want to have Emily be able to smile without condition. We want to see her beyond her vacay mode. And he comes at that perfect time.”

Who's in the cast of Emily in Paris season 5?

Emily in Paris Season 5 Cast

You can expect a lot of your favorites to return for Emily in Paris season 5, like Lily Collins, Eugenio Franceschini, Lucas Bravo, Lucien Laviscount, Ashley Park, Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, Samuel Arnold, and Bruno Gouery. I hope we see Camille Razat too!

If you ask us, celebrating our favorite TV shows is just as much fun as watching them, and the 2024 Emmy Awards made for such a memorable night. From John Oliver celebrating all our pets to Selena Gomez and Martin Short having the sweetest onstage moment, we can't get enough of all our favorite stars. And that includes the celebrity style! Everybody made the "Best Dressed" this year, but these are the most show-stopping looks we can't stop thinking about.

The Best Red Carpet Outfits From The 2024 Emmys

Amy Sussman/Getty Images

Ilona Maher in Oscar de la Renta

Ilona is scoring a gold medal with this gorgeous midnight blue gown. I love the way it highlights her shoulders, and how chic the peplum detail is. Plus, the silver jewelry really reminds me of stars in a night sky!

Amy Sussman/Getty Images

Brie Larson in Chanel

Speaking of dark blue moments, this Chanel look is the perfect 'fit for Brie's Lessons in Chemistry nomination. It's giving classy yet creative, which is something Elizabeth Zott would approve of.

Frazer Harrison/Getty Images

Ayo Edebiri in Bottega Veneta

I LOVE this wild black, yellow, and orange pattern (and not just because it's giving The Cheetah Girls). Ayo's strappy black heels and earrings balance out the bold color palette, and loose waves keep the look from being too done up.

Frazer Harrison/Getty Images

Nicola Coughlan in Prabal Gurung

The statement-making, sassy, no-apologies vibe of this look is giving me MAJOR Lady Whistledown vibes. And Dearest Reader, what else is there to say?

Amy Sussman/Getty Images

Kristen Wiig in Oscar de la Renta

Kristen's gown is a lesson in playing with texture — and how rocking a monochromatic look with minimal jewelry can still make a statement.

Amy Sussman/Getty Images

Anna Sawai in Vera Wang

Anna made history as the first Japanese star to win for Best Lead Actress at the Emmys — and she did so wearing one of the most beautiful looks of the night. The mermaid silhouette is playful but edgy (thanks to the pointed detail of the bodice).

Frazer Harrison/Getty Images

Dakota Fanning in Armani Privé

I cannot stop looking at this gorgeous champagne and pearl number Dakota wore on the red carpet. It's the perfect mix of feminine, classy, and understated, and even though she isn't wearing a necklace or bracelets, the pearl detail makes this dress its own accessory.

Frazer Harrison/Getty Images

Quinta Brunson in Georges Chakra

The silhouette of Quinta's dress comes across similarly to Anna Sawait's — but Quinta takes a Clara Bow approach to the look with an old school hairstyle and moody glam. Obsessed!

TV fans rejoice! Your favorite series, and stars, finally got the recognition they deserve during the 2024 Emmys. The program aired on ABC September 15, 2024 at 8PM EST/5PM PST (and is available to stream on Hulu starting the 16).

While it's no surprise series like Shōgun and The Bear swept categories (with 25 and 23 nominations, respectively), it IS a shock that this is the first time Selena Gomez and Dakota Fanning have been nominated for acting — and that Emma Stone WASN'T nominated for The Curse.

Keep reading for all the Emmy nominations below, and where to stream all the TV shows nominated for Outstanding Series.

Which Emmy winner (or snub 👀) for 2024 surprised you the most? Let us know on Facebook!

This post has been updated.

I was totally enraptured by Shōgun as soon as I saw the first trailer. The first season of the trending Hulu series premiered in February of 2024 to rave reviews, and The Hollywood Reporter confirmed in May that it looks like we're getting a season 2 AND a season 3 of the drama. Considering Shōgun was originally a limited series, I'm over the moon! Here's everything we know about the upcoming sophomore season.

Is Shōgun nominated for any awards?

FX/Hulu

Ahead of Shōgun season 2, the first season of the hit show scored 25 Emmy nominations(yes you read that right) including Outstanding Drama and both Lead Actor and Lead Actress in a Drama — and it ended up winning all of them! Anna Sawai cried in her acceptance speech, thanking her mom and all the women "who expect nothing" but continue to change the world anyway. We're not crying, you are!!!

Will there be a season 2 for Shōgun?

FX/Hulu

Yes, we're getting a Shōgun season 2! The news that season 2 was in the works was confirmed May 16. "There’s a lot of chaos but creative chaos, where we’re throwing everything that we have at the wall, seeing what sticks," co-creator Rachel Kondo tells THR. "It’s been exciting and nerve-wracking because, obviously, this is uncharted territory — we don’t have a roadmap, we just have history.”

She continues that the team is figuring out “which events, which characters, which characters can you conveniently combine — those sorts of things that kind of allow you to make something new.”

The end of season 1 saw John Blackthorne at his absolute end. His ship and his crew are gone, as is Lady Mariko, who sacrificed herself to thwart Yabushige. And it's here that we'll pick back up. This is going to be one season premiere to remember!

When is Shōgun season 2 coming out?

FX/Hulu

Shōgun season 2 won't begin production for quite some time, but the writer's room begins summer 2024.

Who's in the Shōgun season 2 cast?

FX/Hulu

I hope we'll see Hiroyuki Sanada, Cosmo Jarvis, Tadanobu Asano, Takehiro Hira, Moeka Hoshi, and Fumi Nikaido.

Tell us your best Shōgun season 2 predictions in the comments, and check out The Best New TV Shows Coming In 2024 for more!

Despite a new celebrity breakup every other day, love is still in the air...and it's led Saiorse Ronan to the altar. Call us overzealous, but her marriage is the news we've been waiting for!

With films like The Lovely Bones (Susie Salmon) and Little Women (Jo March), Saoirse's cemented a place in our hearts. However, as monumental as her onscreen performances can be, she prefers to keep her private life tucked away — not that we blame her. BUT...showing up to a fashion show wearing a diamond ring on that finger was a pretty huge statement, and her first red carpet appearance since tying the knot is even sweeter. Here's everything we know so far + details about Saiorse Ronan's relationship with Jack Lowden!

See Saoirse Ronan and Jack Lowden's 2024 Emmys Date Night!

At the 2024 Emmys, Saoirse Ronan and Jack Lowden made their first red carpet appearance as a married couple and I simply cannot get enough of them. The Little Women actress stunned in a navy skirt and bandeau set, complete with draping detail and a silver necklace, while Jack Lowden wore a complementary navy and black tux with a bowtie.

Are Saoirse Ronan and Jack Lowden married?

@jack.lowden/Instagram

Yes, Saoirse Ronan and Jack Lowden are reportedly married! Documents from a Scottish civil marriage registry show that the couple have an official license and tied the knot in Edinburgh (via People).

They had an intimate ceremony that was kept under wraps by all who attended (via Irish Independent). This is on par with the couple's tendency to keep the details of their relationship out of the public eye.

It's hard to say if they'll make a public statement about their marriage, but we're still happy for the cute couple!

Where was Saoirse Ronan seen wearing a diamond ring?

According to People, Saoirse made an appearance at the Louis-Vuitton Womenswear SS 2024 runway show last year. In addition to gorgeous blonde bob she was seen sporting, close observers noticed a beautiful diamond ring on her finger — hence the engagement speculations.

How long did Saoirse Ronan and Jack Lowden date before they reportedly got engaged?

Duncan McGlynn/Getty Images for Universal

The lovely couple have been dating for some time now. In 2018, Page Six shared that Saoirse Ronan and Jack Lowden were dating following their appeared in the film Mary Queen of Scots. A source told the outlet, "We don’t know when they got together...but they seem very happy and sweet."

They've mostly kept their relationship under wraps but have made appearances here and there.

What has Saioirse Ronan said about Jack Lowden?

In an interview with Harper's Bazaar UK, Saiorse Ronan offered a brief glimpse into their relationship. She said, "When a person you respect as much as I do him says that, it means more than anyone else’s opinion."

What has Jack Lowden said about Saiorse Ronan?

Jack has sang Saoirse's praises when talking about her work ethic with him recently telling Esquire UK, "Saoirse is, first and foremost, one of the best actors in the world, so to work with her in that way and help in any way I could was great." He was referring to her role as Amy Liptrot in The Outrun - a film their production company is producing.

What has Saoirse Ronan been working on lately?

FOE | Official Trailer

Saoirse recently appeared in Foe, which premiered in theaters October 6th. She stars alongside Paul Mescal as they play a married couple whose bond is tested when they're met with an unusual offer. Two words — artificial intelligence.
