This Tiny-Space Makeover Is Multi-Purpose Room #Goals

For those of us still living the #apartmentlife, the thought of a spare bedroom seems like nothing short of a far-off, luxurious dream. But as those blessed with spare bedrooms actually know, one tiny space is often wildly insufficient to tackle all the requirements that we fantasize about in our heads. Well, that’s not the case with this incredible 3-in-1 room makeover. Postbox Design paired up with blogger Peg Theobald of The Honest Mom to transform an extra room into the best multi-purpose room we’ve ever seen; it balances the requirements of a guest room, office, and laundry room brilliantly. Oh, and it’s chock-full of on-trend jewel tones and funky flourishes.

“[Peg] needed not one, but three different functions for her room,” says designer Kristin Thompson. “She wanted to create her own She Shed with a home office, guest bedroom, and laundry room all in a small footprint.” This was a tall order for the 148-square-foot space, but Thompson tackled it masterfully, with plenty of color and character. Best of all, the entire makeover cost only $880. (Thank you, Target finds!)

“Like any hard-working woman, this room had to be a multi-tasker!” explains Thompson. “I looked for items that could do double duty in her space. For example, the daybed could work as both a bed for guests and a secondary workspace for my client (and has hidden storage below).” Thompson also made sure to take scale into account when choosing furnishings. “I made the most of the room’s footprint by using petite-sized furniture such as her desk and velvet reading chair,” she says. But in spite of the room’s small scale, it gives off a major first impression thanks to the vibrant colors and eclectic accents. “[Peg] is the only lady living in a family of three boys, so she wanted a space that was bright, bold, and had a very feminine look to it,” Thompson tells us. The cheery space, complete with pink pom-pom curtains, definitely feels like a refuge from a house full of boys. And if you’re thinking those curtains are obsession-worthy, you’re not alone… “I’m still looking for a place in my own home that I can use these!” confesses Thompson.

While this room’s multifunctional purpose was certainly top-of-mind, Thompson wanted to ensure it would really work for the everyday too. “I always tell my clients to design your room for how you live 90 percent of the time. Don’t worry about always having a room set up for guests or larger gatherings. Instead, focus on how you will use the space daily, and then plan for how it will ‘flex’ to fit your needs,” she advises. Versatile furniture pieces were a huge part of this strategy. “In this case, the main function was her office, so I focused on creating a very usable office space. Then we used furniture that could work with her other functions such as a guest bedroom, laundry area, and reading area,” Thompson recalls.

Wondering where the laundry room component comes into play? Thompson managed to hide the entire operation in a closet with a few simple tricks. “My favorite part was fitting a stacked laundry combo into one half of the closet, while leaving the other half for storage. When you close the closet doors, you don’t even know you are in a laundry room,” she says.

Playful accents, like plants and art pieces from Etsy, completed the look (and provided a little creative inspo for when the room is in office-mode). “This room is my absolute favorite space in our home,” says Theobald of the room post-makeover. “I feel a sense of peace when I enter this room… I find it’s much easier to think, write, and get work done in my own space away from the daily chaos of being a work-at-home mom!”

Are Madison Bailey & Rudy Pankow ACTUALLY Feuding? These 'Outer Banks' Fans Don't Think So.

Outer Banks fans cried saying goodbye to JJ when part 2 dropped on November 7, but I wasn't expecting the Outer Banks cast's goodbye to Rudy Pankow to make me equally emotional. The TV show is a standout because of how electric the cast's chemistry is onscreen — and how close they are offscreen.

But according to some sources, a rift reportedly formed between Rudy Pankow (JJ) and Madison Bailey (Kiara) after fans picked up on their chemistry and started shipping them IRL...like, really intensely. Despite the fact the creators promise this was the plan since season 1, OBX fans are convinced their rumored fallout is the reason Rudy left the show.

Why aren't Rudy and Madison friends anymore?

Rudy Pankow and Madison Bailey were best friends during season 1 (Madison called Rudy her "bestie," and said that in any situation, "he's the first person I'm going to call"). But rumors of a fallout came after the show went viral in 2020. Fans picked up on their onscreen chemistry and started shipping the actors in addition to shipping their characters JJ and Kiara (the internet shipped the fictional couple so hard, in fact, that the relationship was written into the show despite it not being the team's original plan).

"Madison and Kiara, and Rudy and JJ, are two different people," Madison said in a 2020 Entertainment Tonight interview after the relationship started picking up steam. "Let's keep the ships on the show. But as far as the show, I'm all for it."

After publicity for Outer Banks season 2 began, fans noticed Rudy and Madison didn't seem to have the same connection in public, and even appeared to avoid each other on set — a far cry from their adorable interactions during press for season 1.

Fans started outright blaming Rudy's girlfriend Elaine Seimek, who was originally a PA on the show, for causing a rift between the two actors. Madison herself shut down the rumors with a TikTok promising they all had no problems, while Rudy Pankow took to Instagram to defend his girlfriend.

"To those who are creating such displeasure and opinions about the one I love and my relationship, it’s time to stop," Rudy Pankow said in an August 6, 2021 post. "In this era of social engagement and enlightenment I want to express the importance to spread positivity and needing to know when it is unfair to express your own distaste for something or someone, especially when you can do it behind an anonymous identity. I was always told the best version of yourself is your most humbled self…I make this statement as my most humbled self and would be so grateful if we all would move forward in positivity and respect."

Is there drama between the Outer Banks cast?

The Outer Banks cast drama rumors only intensified after a June 2023 dinner, when Madison Bailey and her partner Mariah Linney reportedly unfollowed Elaine on Instagram. Not to mention the fact Rudy Pankow isn't in any of the Outer Banks season 4 cast videos.

After JJ's death rocked the internet, creators Josh and Jonas Pate and Shannon Burke said that it was always the plan to kill JJ. "For a long time we had known that someone was going to die," showrunner Shannon Burke told Teen Vogue. "We thought it was going to be JJ all along."

However, the fact that JJ and Kiara have been dating for almost 2 years at this point, yet barely react to the other heading into danger has fans thinking Rudy asked to leave the show. And rumors that they filmed multiple endings to give Rudy the option to stay only adds fuel to the fire.

When new episodes of the show dropped in November of 2024, fans almost immediately clocked that Rudy and Madison appear to have used body doubles for a cuddling scene — while Madelyn Cline and Chase Stokes (who dated from June 2020 to November 2021) were cozied up across the campfire.

Even though an anonymous source suggested Rudy and Madison aren't friends anymore, and that their chemistry onscreen in season 1 was because they'd fallen for each other IRL, a source told People the actors are not feuding.

When did Madison Bailey and Rudy Pankow meet?

Rudy and Madison first met after Rudy had booked the role of JJ and Madison was headed to a final audition. Despite the fact they had mutual friends, they didn't meet until they were on the same plane to Charleston. She told Harper's Bazaar in 2020 that she said hello when they crossed paths, then found a DM from him on social media. “He was like, ‘I knew you were Kiara the second I saw you,’" she said. "I was like, "Oh my God, did this guy three seats up really just DM me?’ He went and found our mutuals, found my page, and messaged me.”

Well, during press for Outer Banks season 4, when the cast was asked who would be most likely to fall in love with a stranger on a plane, Carlacia Grant (Cleo) answered with Madison, leading fans to believe she was confirming the romance rumors.

Did Rudy quit OBX?

Rudy Pankow exited Outer Banks after season 4, and Madison Bailey finally spoke about what JJ means to her in the cast's official goodbye — and got emotional talking about how well Rudy brought the character to life.

"We all read the character on the page," she says. "And we know what you brought to it and you turned it out and really made something of it and paid respect to the depth of the character while bringing a lightheartedness that the show desperately needed."

And during a cast video hyping up JJ's (and Rudy's) best moments from the series, fans were beaming when Rudy and Madison dissected some of the best Jiara moments from season 3. "this video healed me❤️🩹 thank you netflix!" one TikTok user wrote in the comments of Madison talking about JJ and Kiara's first kiss. "I’m so happy [they're] friends bro like fr 🥺🥺," another user said.

This Jaw-Dropping 70s-Inspired Home Renovation Is A Total Transformation

Kirsten Blazek, founder of a design firm A1000XBetter in Los Angeles, describes her friend Jennifer as “the definition of a ride or die friend.” They’ve traveled the world together, celebrated many milestone moments, and both have a passion for design. Jennifer Parker-Stanton, her pal, is a realtor living in Los Angeles, but in a previous life was a costumer for film.

“She is a thrifter and nothing makes her happier than treasure hunting for vintage items,” says Kirsten. “She especially loves mid-century ceramics and both she and her husband have a special love of 1970’s inspired design.” That means lots of wood, texture, and curated collected vintage items from that era.

Jennifer’s office in their 1958 Mid Century Modern home was in need of a major upgrade. She enlisted Kirsten to help bring her vision to life by infusing A1000XBetter’s design magic.

California modern with a woodsy coastal vibe was the ask. “We wanted to stay true to the style of the house but inject a nod to elements that would be found in a wood-clad Big Sur-type home,” says Kirsten.

Kirsten’s team renovated three spaces that flowed into each other – an office, bathroom, and laundry room.

Storage was a “must have” for all three rooms, as was a bathtub, a generously sized shower, and a laundry room that wasn’t the size of a tiny closet.

Kirsten designed custom millwork for all three spaces to maximize the storage. They reworked the layout in the office space to swap an old built-in closet with a whole wall of storage behind the desk area.

“We also added storage and shelving on the adjacent wall and designed a custom desk that looked out to the pool area,” says Kirsten. This created an L-shaped area for Jennifer's workspace.

Kirsten used Jennifer’s collected vintage art collection that she thrifted throughout the years wisely throughout the space. “It was a great way to be able to incorporate some personality and mix some soulful vintage items with the new remodel."

The result? “The space is an earthy, organic, and moody space with a whimsical 70s-inspired design," she says of the overall design.

The former bathroom featured dated tile that didn't suit the mid-century modern home aesthetic. It had to go.

Kirsten opened up the bathroom to grant her bestie the wish of a bigger bathtub. She also incorporated rich green Heath Ceramics tile and terrazzo flooring into the bathroom, which creates a perfect juxtaposition against the warm walnut wood walls.

Kirsten created a galley space that mimicked the rich tones and moody hues that makes the whole space feel unique and effortlessly cool. Zak and Fox wallpaper adds an element of nature and whimsy, from wall to ceiling.

'Nobody Wants This' Season 2 Could Come Way Sooner Than Expected

All it takes is a few episodes of Nobody Wants This to realize it's one of the best rom-coms of the year — and that Adam Brody is still super hot. The series, which also stars Kristen Bell, has gone viral for everything from its hilariously relatable approach to dating to "the best kiss of all time" to how eloquently it explains the fear that we're too much for a romantic partner. With an 8.1 out of 10 on IMDb, a 95 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, and literally millions of TikTok views, it's no surprise the show was just renewed for a second season.

When is Nobody Wants This season 2 coming out?

Stay tuned for an official Nobody Wants This season 2 release date. The cast starts filming in February of 2025, and based on the timeline for season 1 that means we could get new episodes in the fall of 2025! Considering how many shows in recent years have had multiple years between new installments, a season a year sounds perfect to us.

What's going to happen in Nobody Wants This season 2?

Creator Erin Foster just revealed Nobody Wants This season 2 is actually going to get rid of this tease from season 1: Morgan and Sasha's flirtationship. "I think we’re going to wrap up their weird 'Is it romantic?' thing. Because we want to see them together in season two, hanging out," she tells The Hollywood Reporter. "We want to see Esther. I think we went down that road enough that now we’re going to pull back and reposition so we can have them all in scenes together without [Morgan] being like, a full homewrecker. But we’re going to give Morgan something very fun. Justine [Lupe] came in and we pitched it to her and she was like, 'This is my dream storyline.'"

Is Morgan going to be swept off her feet? Or maybe she'll inherit a huge sum of money and become her own trophy wife. That would be SO Morgan.

“We are in a tense moment of massive upheaval, and there doesn’t seem to be many romantic comedies, period,” Adam Brody tells Variety, while Kristen Bell adds that, “There was a ton of really great, intense, hardcore television that ‘Breaking Bad’ inspired — rough-and-tumble watches — and something lovely in the rom-com space hadn’t been felt by the masses in a while.”

While Kristen hopes season 2 will give people what they want, Adam is just excited to be back with such a "clever and sweet and funny" story. "I want it to be good, and that can take many forms," he says. "I’m not too invested in the twists and turns as long as they’re true and smart and fun to play."

Is there going to be a season 2 of Nobody Wants This?

Yes on October 10, Netflix announced that Nobody Wants This will be coming back for season 2. And (spoiler!!!) now that Joanne and Noah have decided to be together, and Noah's decided to give up his position as Head Rabbi, I have a feeling they'll have to deal with a lot of opinions. (Namely, Noah's mother).

"Creating Nobody Wants This will forever be a career highlight for me," creator Erin Foster says in a statement. "The incredible cast, crew, producers and executives all made this into the show it is today, and to experience viewers' reactions to this series now that it's out in the world has been more than anything I could have dreamed. I’m so lucky to be able to continue this story, and to do it alongside Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan, who I've been such a fan of since Girls... Justice for healthy relationships being the most romantic!”

The movie follows Bob Dylan's career in the 1960s as he rises to fame and later shifts from folk to rock'n'roll.

In a new interview with Rolling Stone, Timothée Chalamet revealed just how seriously he took the role of Bob Dylan, and said he "go to sleep panicked about, losing a moment of discovery as the character."

"I had three months of my life to play Bob Dylan, after five years of preparing to play him," he says. "So while I was in it, that was my eternal focus. He deserved that and then more.…God forbid I missed a step because I was being Timmy. I could be Timmy for the rest of my life!”

And that dedication paid off. Elle Fanning says that the first time she heard Timothée sing on set, it "gave [her] chills."

“He was singing ‘Masters of War’ and ‘A Hard Rain’s A-Gonna Fall,’ and I was like, ‘Jesus,’" she adds. "All of us were kind of shaking, because it was so surreal hearing someone do that. So perfectly done, but it wasn’t a caricature. It was still Timmy, but it’s Bob, and this kind of beautiful meld.” And as for her involvement? Elle Fanning couldn't believe she was a part of the film! “I wrote ‘Bob Dylan’ on my hand every day in middle school," she says. "It’s like I manifested this part.”

Did Timothée Chalamet take inspiration from Austin Butler’s Elvis?

Timothée Chalamet recently revealed that while he originally wanted to approach A Complete Unknown by taking direct inspiration from Bob Dylan, he quickly changed his tone...so to speak. "Somebody once said to me, you can't make a movie about a painter because it's not interesting to watch paint dry," he says in People's exclusive video. "Bob has that element because he's not one of these forward-facing musicians."

While Timmy saw Natalie Portman a sequence in Jackie "step-for-step exactly what Jackie did," and paid attention to "all this stuff that I saw my good friend Austin Butler crush it with on Elvis," he quickly realized "I gotta do none of this because this is not my style."

"Bob did not have a vocal coach," he continues. "He had two bottles of red wine and four packs of cigarettes. There's no way to impersonate that." One of my favorite things about biopics is seeing how a well-known actor portrays a recognizable figure, and you can see Timothée Chalamet's interpretation of Bob Dylan in theaters December 25!

We got a look at Monica Barbaro as singer-songwriter Joan Baez, who was one of the first major artists in the 1960s to record Bob Dylan's music!

I was super impressed to learn Timothée showed up and sang live for the film. "It was important for me to play and sing on set because it was in the spirit of the movie to do it live," he says in a video from People. "Many of the artists through American pop culture that had the balls to turn their back on what was expected of them, that moment started with Bob. His words are relevant; 'Times They are A Changing' ' is relevant, 'Blowin' in the Wind' is relevant."

A Complete Unknown Plot

Timothée Chalamet's Bob Dylan movie is called A Complete Unknown. The movie filmed around New York City in the spring of 2024, and James Mangold is serving as director (you might recognize his name from Logan, Girl, Interrupted, and Walk the Line). I totally agree that one of the best Bob Dylan songs is "Knockin' On Heaven's Door," but "Blowin' In The Wind" and "The Times They Are A-Changin'" are also great songs to listen to if you're a new Bob Dylan fan. So far, "The Times They Are A-Changin'" is my personal favorite song.

His style is the perfect blend of rock and folk that reminds me of summer picnics and walks in the woods. His sound also reportedly inspired Taylor Swift's Folklore!
