Cozy on Up With a Netflix and Chili Party This Winter

The holidays are coming to a close, but we’ve decided that we don’t want to stop celebrating. Since the winter is now upon us, I think we can all agree that it’s much easier to just stay inside and enjoy the warmth :) We’ve crafted up the perfect “just ’cause” party for you and your gang to throw this winter — Netflix + Chili! Whip up a nice large pot of this whiskey chili and have the whole crew over for marathon sessions of your favorite Netflix shows. We called in one of our Brit + Co engineers, Bailey Stoner, and her girlfriend, Shana, to host this party :) They were rockstars and I can’t wait to have them back at B+C to model again.

Whiskey Chili Recipe

Ingredients:

Instructions:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 pound ground pork
  • red onion
  • red and green pepper
  • 2 cans of kidney beans
  • 2 cans petite diced tomatoes
  • 1 can tomato paste
  • 4 Tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 Tablespoon cumin
  • 1 Tablespoon cayenne pepper
  • 4 cloves of garlic
  • 1 Tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 4 slices bacon
  • 1 Tablespoon cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup whiskey

Chop, chop, chop! Dice those veggies and mince that garlic!

  1. Dice peppers and onions, then mince garlic and add into a large skillet with a tablespoon of oil. Once vegetables are soft, add in the beef and pork and cook thoroughly.
  2. Transfer to large stockpot and add tomatoes, tomato paste, beans, chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, cayenne pepper and water. Cover and simmer over medium heat for 1 hour; stirring occasionally.
  3. After 1 hour, stir in cocoa and whiskey. Cover and simmer for 10 additional minutes.
  4. Cook the bacon until crispy; crumble and set aside for garnish.

Add the garlic and veggies to a large pan with a tablespoon of oil. Cook until tender.

Add in the ground pork and beef and cook thoroughly.

Transfer the meat and veggies to a large stock pot and start adding in the rest of the goodies. Dump in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, beans, chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, cayenne pepper and water.

Stir it all together, cover and let it simmer for one hour. Stir occasionally.

After the chili has simmered for one hour, add in the cocoa powder and whiskey. Stir and simmer for an additional 10 minutes.

While the chili is simmering, cook up the bacon until it’s nice and crispy. Drain and set aside for the perfect garnish.

CHILI — get in my belly! Top off your chili with shredded cheese and crispy bacon.

porcelain bowls

red oil-based pan to create the thick red lines. Stick the bowls in a 375-degree oven for 30 minutes to have the paint set onto the porcelain. Tada! Custom popcorn-inspired bowls for your warm chili.

When having guests over it is always easier to create a self-serve table. Let your guests pick and choose what they want to eat. We created this side table filled with all the movie-watching necessities — warm whiskey chili and popcorn! Wrap up sets of utensils in napkins for an easy grab and go.

Let’s be real: No movie/Netflix party is complete without popcorn. We used our very own line of disposable partyware, Brit + Co x Cheeky, to create these DIY popcorn bowls. All you need to do is create a square on the backside of the plate. Cut four straight lines from the outside edge of the plate until you hit each corner of the square. Bend the flaps back to create the walls of the box and tape the edges together for an easy DIY popcorn holder.

Psst: What’s great about Brit + Co x Cheeky is that, when you buy one pack of Cheeky plates, they then give one meal to someone here in the US. This is all due to their amazing partnership with Feeding America. Cheeky products are available at Target stores nationwide, plus Target.com for a limited time.

A party isn’t legit unless it has a photo booth backdrop. We created this movie reel backdrop by using black and white construction paper. It is really just a pattern of large squares with smaller squares on the outer edges. Adhere them to the wall with a little wave to give it that traditional film vibe.

Take your winter party to the next level with custom swag. Download this Netflix + Chili printable, print it onto photo transfer paper and iron it onto some cozy sweats for you and all of your friends.

Food fights will never get old.

But as an adult, once you spill something, you have to pick it all up :)

The best TV shows don't only entertain and inspire — they also make us reexamine the world we live in. And nobody is doing it like Black Mirror. Inspired in part by The Twilight Zone, this freaky Netflix show dives into a darker side of contemporary society, focusing on the doubts and hesitations we can all have when it comes to technology. Each episode of the gripping thriller is basically its own short movie, and the drama will have you on the edge of your seat the entire time because it's dealing with something we all use, and that familiarity makes it even spookier.

After Black Mirror season 6 (starring Annie Murphy, Myha'la Herrold, and Zazie Beetz) premiered in June of 2023, it became the most-watched streaming TV program in the US, and its popularity isn't slowing down anytime soon — especially with how stacked Netflix's Black Mirror season 7 cast is.

Here's everything you need to know about Black Mirror season 7, streaming on Netflix now.

Who's in Netflix's Black Mirror season 7 cast?

Netflix

The Black Mirror season 7 is one of its best yet. The lineup includes:

  • Awkwafina
  • Milanka Brooks
  • Peter Capaldi
  • Emma Corrin
  • Patsy Ferran
  • Paul Giamatti
  • Lewis Gribben
  • Osy Ikhile
  • Rashida Jones
  • Siena Kelly
  • Billy Magnussen
  • Rosy McEwen
  • Cristin Milioti
  • Chris O’Dowd
  • Issa Rae
  • Paul G. Raymond
  • Tracee Ellis Ross
  • Jimmi Simpson
  • Harriet Walter

Is there a 7th season of Black Mirror?

Netflix

Yes, Black Mirror season 7 is on Netflix now! And arguably the most-anticipated episode serves as a sequel to season 4's "USS Callister" starring Jesse Plemons, Cristin Milioti, Jimmi Simpson, Michaela Coel, and Billy Magnussen.

The season 7 announcement came with a cryptic message on X. While the tweet itself simply reads "TCKR_Confidential_NotForDistribution.mp4," the video shows an 80s desktop computer rebooting — and for a brief moment you can see "Exit Game" flash across the screen, which makes me wonder if we're reaching the end of this hit series.

When in 2025 is Black Mirror coming out?

Parisa Tag/Netflix

The Black Mirror season 7 release date was April 10, 2025. That means you can watch all episodes now!

How many episodes are in season 7 of Black Mirror?

Netflix

There are six episodes in Black Mirror season 7:

  • Season 7, Episode 1, "Common People" premiered on April 10, 2025
  • Season 7, Episode 2, "Bête Noir" premiered on April 10, 2025
  • Season 7, Episode 3, "Hotel Reverie" premiered on April 10, 2025
  • Season 7, Episode 4, "Plaything" premiered on April 10, 2025
  • Season 7, Episode 5, "Eulogy" premiered on April 10, 2025
  • Season 7, Episode 6, "USS Callister: Into Infinity" premiered on April 10, 2025

Why is a Black Mirror called a Black Mirror?

Netflix

A Black Mirror refers to all of our screens when they're dark. Cell phones, laptops, televisions — they're all Black Mirrors. This makes the series even harder to shake once you've turned it off because you realize that, while the story is fictional, these Black Mirrors are actually around us, and with us, all the time. And ever since Black Mirror season 1, we've never looked at our screens the same way!

I haven't been able to stop thinking about Drop since I saw it (and since I interviewed stars Meghann Fahy and Brandon Sklenar!) — and if you like thrillers, I'm sure you'll be obsessed with this one too. The script is tight, the visuals are beautiful (albeit eerie), and Meghann and Brandon are absolutely electric onscreen together. In Brit + Co's latest episode of our Yap City podcast, we dive into the interview experience and why the movie is so dang good.

Here's why you should see Meghann Fahy & Brandon Sklenar's Drop, in theaters now!

What is the movie Drop 2025 about?

Drop follows Violet (Meghann Fahy), who's excited for her date with Henry (Brandon Sklenar) — until she starts getting anonymous drops to her phone threatening her son. She can't tell Henry about the messages, especially since the final one instructs her to kill him.

But despite the thriller of it all, I've been calling Drop a "scary rom-com" because of just how electric Brandon and Meghann are onscreen, and how much I care about them as a viewer. I cared more about their relationship than some actual romance movies this year!

And in this episode of Yap City, I offer some behind-the-scenes moments from my Drop interviews, and spill on which Emily Henry character fits Brandon Sklenar perfectly.

Drop is in theaters today, April 11, 2025!

Who's in the Drop cast?

The Drop cast has some of the hottest names around, including:

  • Meghann Fahy as Violet: a widowed mother finally going on a date who starts getting anonymous drops to her phone.
  • Brandon Sklenar as Henry: Violet's date who tries to help her figure out the drop mystery.
  • Violett Beane as Jen: Violet's sister and date night babysitter.
  • Jacob Robinson as Toby: Violet's (very adorable) son.
  • Reed Diamond as Richard: a man Violet meets who's also at the restaurant for a date.
  • Gabrielle Ryan as Cara: the bartender who keeps an eye on Violet.
  • Jeffery Self as Matt: Violet and Henry's waiter.
  • Ed Weeks as Phil: the restaurant pianist.

Where did Drop film?

Director Chrisopher Landon and the Drop team built the restaurant set themselves, and Christopher told me in an interview that the gilded look of the restaurant was meant to mimic a cage — and make Violet and viewer feel trapped. The movie filmed in Ireland.

Netflix's latest true crime docuseries, Gone Girls: The Long Island Serial Killer, just dropped — and you definitely wanna bookmark it for your next binge-watch! This documentary focuses on the chilling mystery of the Gilgo Beach murders, where multiple women disappeared from 1993 to 2010 in Long Island. But this isn't just about the grim details – director Liz Garbus features the fierce determination of Mari Gilbert, whose search for her missing daughter, Shannan, unexpectedly cracked open a much larger, heartbreaking case.

As this docuseries continues to climb the charts, you don't wanna miss it! Here's everything you need to know, from highlighting the initial delays in the investigation to celebrating the unwavering spirit of a mother who refused to let her daughter's story fade.

Scroll to find out everything you need to know about Gone Girls on Netflix.

What is 'Gone Girls: The Long Island Serial Killer' about?

Netflix

The three-episode Netflix docuseries Gone Girls: The Long Island Serial Killer recently premiered on March 31, delving back into the brutal murders of seven women in Gilgo Beach and how investigators came to arrest their accused killer, Rex Heuermann.

Between 1993 and 2010, each of the seven women, who were in their 20s and worked as sex workers, went missing. Director Liz Garbus opens the docuseries by focusing on Mari Gilbert, whose search for her missing daughter, Shannan Gilbert, ultimately led to the discovery of the other victims. Liz also directed Lost Girls, a 2020 fictionalized retelling of the quest for answers in Shannan's disappearance.

The docuseries, which is climbing Netflix's charts, focuses on the victims and their families, as well as how the investigation into pinpointing their killer was stalled for years. Yet, after a new task force was formed in February 2022, the police were able to identify a suspect, Rex Heuermann, within six weeks.

While creating Gone Girls: The Long Island Serial Killer, Liz Garbus intentionally set out to humanize the victims and exclude speculations regarding Heuermann. Still, it includes interviews with journalists, law enforcement officers, the victims' loved ones, and those who knew the alleged killer.

What happened to Shannan Gilbert?

Netflix

Gone Girls: The Long Island Serial Killer sheds light on how the investigation into Shannan Gilbert's case was delayed, suggesting the police didn't take her disappearance seriously or allocate appropriate resources to the search due to her occupation. However, her mother, Mari, never stopped trying to keep her daughter's story alive in the media, and eventually, "The Gilgo Four" were found.

Who else were victims of the Gilgo Beach Killer?

The remains of four women, 25-year-old Maureen Brainard-Barnes, 24-year-old Melissa Barthelemy, 22-year-old Megan Waterman, and 27-year-old Amber Costello, were discovered wrapped in burlap along Long Island's Gilgo Beach.

Then, six additional sets of remains were uncovered in the same area before Shannan Gilbert was found in December 2011. They included Jessica Taylor, who'd been missing since 2003; Valerie Mack, missing since 2000; an unidentified toddler girl, an unidentified Asian man, Karen Vergata, missing since 1996; and a woman nicknamed "Peaches" due to a tattoo on her torso who turned out to be the unidentified toddler's mother.

Who is the Gilgo Beach Killer?

Netflix

Rex Heuermann, a 61-year-old New York architect from Massapequa, was arrested years later and charged with killing Megan Waterman, Melissa Barthelemy, and Amber Costello in July 2023. In 2024, he was also charged with four more murders, including that of Maureen Brainard-Barnes, Jessica Taylor, Sandra Costilla, and Valeria Mack.

But despite the search for Shannan Gilbert being what led the police to Rex, he has not been charged in relation to her case. Her death was ruled an "unfortunate incident" after she allegedly ran into a marsh and drowned.

What happened during the Gilgo Beach Killer case?

Netflix

Heuermann pleaded not guilty and is currently incarcerated at the Riverhead Correctional Facility in Suffolk County. His defense team reportedly petitioned the court to try the murders in multiple trials as opposed to tying them together in one trial.

In response, the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office argued the seven victims are "inextricably interwoven by geographic proximity, victimology, digital and physical evidence, forensic analysis, and the defendant's own planning document." Judge Timothy Mazzei will rule on how the murders will be tried.

Another petition put forth by Heuermann's defense regards the exclusion of certain DNA testing, known as nuclear DNA or whole genome sequencing, arguing it hasn't been used in a New York court of law and isn't widely accepted by the scientific community.

"The advancement of forensic science and nuclear DNA analysis involving whole genome sequencing has allowed law enforcement to now link genetic profiles consistent with the defendant, and/or individuals who have resided with him, to six of the seven victims through hairs found at the crime scene and/or on the victims," rebutted Assistant District Attorney Andrew Lee.

Again, Judge Timothy Mazzei has to determine if the nuclear DNA evidence can be used. So, a trial date has not yet been set.

Who's Hailee Steinfeld starring as in Sinners?

Warner Bros. Pictures

Hailee Steinfeld will be starring as Mary, the love interest of Stack. Since not much is known about her outside of that, we're assuming their romance is forbidden. What we do know is Hailee's a fan of her character and the overall themes of Sinners.

According to PEOPLE, the actress shared more of her thoughts in her newsletter BEAU SOCIETY March 28. She wrote, "...This role is far removed from what I've done, but that's part of what drew me to it! I feel like I'm stepping into my own more and more as I get older, and this role mirrors that."

She also shared that it didn't take much for her to be a part of Sinners. "The minute I heard Ryan Coogler, I was in. Then I read his script and was like, 'Holy s---, this feels like a massive undertaking.' The story is so complex and layered," calling herself "fortunate and honored to even be remotely considered." So, how does Hailee Steinfeld feel about Sinners as a whole?

She says it's "thrilling and sexy and daring and dangerous — with bold representations." Calling this type of movie a "first" for her, she continued sharing her excitement about it on the TODAY Show while chatting with Jenna Bush Hager and John Legend. She said, "This role, I feel just challenged me in ways that I was ready for." She also praised Ryan Coogler for being "the most incredible writer and director," which continues to speak to his amazing sight!

Plus, the actress revealed she recorded new music for the Sinners soundtrack! She shared the news in her BEAU SOCIETY newsletter and gave subscribers an inside peek at how her song "Dangerous" was created.

She wrote, "Eleven days ago, I found myself somewhere I haven’t been in over two years: a recording studio. Not just any recording studio, but Jimi Hendrix’s Electric Lady!" Hailee then proceeded to thank everyone who helped her record the song.

She thanked Ryan Coogler for his unwavering belief in her role as Mary and "also as a musician," before expressing gratitude for Coogler's wife Zinzi, a producer for the Sinners movie. "She was a guiding force throughout the entire process," Hailee said of her and also commended her "calm confidence" for bringing "a perspective to this song that made it click" for the actress."

Setting her sights on Ludwig Göransson, Hailee noted how "his music tells stories that will burn a hole in your heart" and calls working with him "beyond a dream." She was also stoked that he "brought in Sara Aarons, an amazing songwriter (via phone call), to help with the top line."

Lastly, Hailee complimented violinist and orchestrator Serena McKinney Göransson (Ludwig's wife) for bringing "so much soul and precision" to "Dangerous." She applauded Serena's "supportive female energy" and said "watching her work with Ludwig was like watching people paint with sound."

Overall, Hailee feels her new song has a "hauntingly beautiful score" that's perfect for Sinners because it has "emotional tension and quiet unraveling" in it.

Although we can only listen to a snippet of "Dangerous," the full song releases next Friday, April 18.

We've probably all been on a bad date, but I'll bet none of us have had a date quite like Drop. In the movie (out April 11), Violet (Meghann Fahy) goes out with Henry (Brandon Sklenar), but when she starts receiving threatening drops to her phone, the cute first date morphs into a mission to survive the night. Okay, that's pretty intense. And if things ever got crazy IRL, Meghann says she'd want to stick with Brandon.

Here's what Meghann Fahy said about 1923 star Brandon Sklenar, and her best advice for a bad date. Plus, whether Brandon would do a rom-com!

Meghann Fahy trusts Brandon Sklenar's survival skills.

Brandon Sklenar and Meghann Fahy are electric onscreen in Drop, and Meghann admits if she found herself in the same situation as Violet, Brandon would be her first call. "If sh—t went down, he'd be a good guy to be with," she tells Brit + Co exclusively. "I feel like you got some real survival skills."

"I could do a couple of things, but most of that I learned from my friends of mine who are even gnarlier than me," he says. "I take little credit. I mean, you learn everything from somewhere, right?"

"I mean, I'm pretty good with like hand to hand combat," he continues, before Meghann tells him he's good at intimidation and he quite literally goes, "Grr, scary face. Spooky." I'm still giggling about it.

And Meghann Fahy has some great advice for a bad date.

Universal Pictures

But a nightmare date doesn't have to be literally life-threatening, and Meghann shares some of her best advice for anyone who finds themselves on a bad date. "When in doubt, ask someone else a question," she says.

"I think if you're on a bad date and you realize 'I'm probably not gonna end up with this person,' just try to enjoy yourself anyway and make it about just trying to connect with somebody," Brandon adds. "Just just get to know somebody for the sake of getting to know someone."

When it comes to ice breaker questions and conversation starters, Meghann loves "a final meal [question] like last meal, appetizer, main, dessert, drinks, sides, the whole bit."

"What did you want to be when you were really little growing up?" Brandon adds. "Dream scenario." (Let the record show Brandon has admitted he loved Batman growing up, and he's a leading fancast for the DCU. I'm totally here for it).

Brandon Sklenar says "never say never" to starring in a rom-com one day.

Universal Pictures

Drop might be a thriller (and a dang good one), but I've also been referring to it as a scary rom-com because of how incredible Brandon Sklenar and Meghann Fahy's chemistry is, but would Brandon ever do a real rom-com?

"It's possible. I'm not saying no, but it's possible," he teases. "I'd love to do a comedy at some point. Everything I have in the future is very far from, and very far from romance, but I'd say it's possible. Yeah, never say never."

As far as his dream comedy goes, Brandon tells Brit + Co, "I love Peter Sellers and I love like Chevy Chase movies. I'm like I'm a very physical guy and I'd love to be able to do something just absurd like grounded but completely absurd."

Is Meghann Fahy in a relationship?

Yes, Meghann Fahy is dating Leo Woodall, who starred with her in The White Lotus season 2.

What is the age difference between Leo Woodall and Meghann Fahy?

Meghann Fahy is 34 years old and was born on April 25, 1990. Leo Woodall, who was born on September 14, 1996, is 28 years old. There's a six year age difference between them.
