Cozy on Up With a Netflix and Chili Party This Winter

The holidays are coming to a close, but we’ve decided that we don’t want to stop celebrating. Since the winter is now upon us, I think we can all agree that it’s much easier to just stay inside and enjoy the warmth :) We’ve crafted up the perfect “just ’cause” party for you and your gang to throw this winter — Netflix + Chili! Whip up a nice large pot of this whiskey chili and have the whole crew over for marathon sessions of your favorite Netflix shows. We called in one of our Brit + Co engineers, Bailey Stoner, and her girlfriend, Shana, to host this party :) They were rockstars and I can’t wait to have them back at B+C to model again.

Whiskey Chili Recipe

Ingredients:

Instructions:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 pound ground pork
  • red onion
  • red and green pepper
  • 2 cans of kidney beans
  • 2 cans petite diced tomatoes
  • 1 can tomato paste
  • 4 Tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 Tablespoon cumin
  • 1 Tablespoon cayenne pepper
  • 4 cloves of garlic
  • 1 Tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 4 slices bacon
  • 1 Tablespoon cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup whiskey

Chop, chop, chop! Dice those veggies and mince that garlic!

  1. Dice peppers and onions, then mince garlic and add into a large skillet with a tablespoon of oil. Once vegetables are soft, add in the beef and pork and cook thoroughly.
  2. Transfer to large stockpot and add tomatoes, tomato paste, beans, chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, cayenne pepper and water. Cover and simmer over medium heat for 1 hour; stirring occasionally.
  3. After 1 hour, stir in cocoa and whiskey. Cover and simmer for 10 additional minutes.
  4. Cook the bacon until crispy; crumble and set aside for garnish.

Add the garlic and veggies to a large pan with a tablespoon of oil. Cook until tender.

Add in the ground pork and beef and cook thoroughly.

Transfer the meat and veggies to a large stock pot and start adding in the rest of the goodies. Dump in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, beans, chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, cayenne pepper and water.

Stir it all together, cover and let it simmer for one hour. Stir occasionally.

After the chili has simmered for one hour, add in the cocoa powder and whiskey. Stir and simmer for an additional 10 minutes.

While the chili is simmering, cook up the bacon until it’s nice and crispy. Drain and set aside for the perfect garnish.

All you need to do is create a square on the backside of the plate. Cut four straight lines from the outside edge of the plate until you hit each corner of the square. It's owned by her parents, so she has personal ties to this small-town source of entertainment, coming up with the bright idea to surprise the community with an "all-male Christmas-theme revue."

What have Chad Michael Murray and Britt Robertson said about starring in 'The Merry Gentlemen?'

We didn't think it was possible, but Chad Michael Murray was a little nervous about playing Luke. "I'd never danced professionally or trained by any means," he said (via PEOPLE). Though he has a thing for "going out and dancing," he's never done anything "to this level."

As to why he chose this role, Chad seems to enjoy a challenge. "When I see something and it scares the crap out of me, something in me says, 'Alright, well let's see what we can do.'" He has two thoughts — "'I'm going to fall flat on my face or have a lot of fun doing.'" If you ask us, that's the right spirit to have for a fun Christmas movie.

Britt Robertson was immediately drawn to the script and her role as Ashley. "When I read the script, I was like, ‘This is my kind of Christmas movie,'" she said (via Netflix). She also teased why she can't get enough of the cowboy appeal in the movie. "...I'm Southern...the hats, the boots. There's so much you can work with."

Outer Banks season 4 part 1 ends with Pope and Sarah trapped in a crypt, Cleo and John B. recovering from a fight with Lightener, and JJ reeling from the revelation his birth father is a Kook. So, needless to say, part 2 is starting off with a bang.

Jonathan Daviss promises we'll see “explosions, craziness, Pogue activity" when part 2 drops next month. "A lot going on the cliffhanger, a lot of revelations happening, those things will be continued to be explored," he tells The Hollywood Reporter.

“I think it’s an identity crisis in Part Two," Rudy Pankow says of JJ's discovery. “Like, who am I? Where do I stand? What kind of person am I now? Are my friends gonna judge me? And who do I look up to now? I think that’s how it’s going to play out.”

But Madison Bailey is certain that Kiara will be there for JJ no matter what. “They are two people who are so independent that that’s why they work together and just being themselves and giving the space for the other person to be themselves," she says. "So, as long as there’s never a hold-up on that, then I think they’ll be alright.”

Fans have been making JJ x Kiara edits to Taylor Swift songs since the show premiered in 2020, and Madison Bailey just revealed the ultimate Jiara song comes from Taylor Swift's The Tortured Poets Department: “‘But Daddy I Love Him,’ that’s literally Kiara,” she tells Elite Daily. “I think Kiara’s just trying to keep up, honestly. She knows her boy is crazy. And does she stand by him? Yes.”

Meanwhile one relationship that has yet to be healed (if it ever will be) is Rafe and Sarah. After their father's death at the end of season 3, Madelyn Cline is convinced Rafe blames Sarah. “I think she feels a lot of guilt," Cline admits to The Hollywood Reporter. "It’s all very heavy and way too heavy for just a single conversation. It’s something that has to happen over time.”

“I think [Rafe's] accepting some responsibility," Drew Starkey adds. "I think he realizes how alone he is, and he wants to mend bridges and build connections again. So yeah, I don’t think he’s ever been able to fully express [himself], and he’s still struggling to express that in a certain way.”

JJ's biological father is Chandler Groff, who married Wes Genrette's daughter Larissa. That means JJ has been a Kook this whole time — and he's related to Frances Genrette, the man responsible for Blackbeard's death.
