10 Ways to Create New Holiday Traditions as a Couple

One of the best parts about being a newlywed couple is that you get to create a life together. That means building a home and starting your own traditions. As the holidays approach, now is the time to adopt new traditions, whether that means continuing rituals from your childhood or making up entirely new ones. Today, in collaboration with our friends at Keurig, we’ve got 10 traditions to share that will fill your home with holiday cheer. Our shop buyer Alicia and her husband Michael joined us to make this shoot come to life. As newlyweds themselves, they are almost too cute to handle.

Keurig’s website

Keurig® 2.0 K200 Brewing System. You guys, it’s so good! We are clearly huge fans of color, and the Keurig® 2.0 K200 Brewing System comes in the BEST colors — seven in total! So you know how you’ve been eyeing that awesome kitchen on Pinterest with the turquoise accents? They’ve got one that will help you add that pop of color. Additionally, it’s got a smaller footprint so it’s ideal for small kitchens, small space living (we’re talking to you, city dwellers!), home offices… the list goes on. Along with revolutionary technology to brew all the beverages you love at the touch of a button, the brewing system has the ability to brew both a single cup and a four-cup carafe of coffee. The point is — this needs to go on your Christmas list stat.

Got your cup o’ Joe? Great. Now let’s talk about traditions.

1. Deck your halls with some hall-iday spirit! Now that your house is spick and span, make merry by adding red accents. This includes switching out your linens, using red and white plates and even getting out any red appliances you have. The Keurig® 2.0 K200 Brewing System’s strawberry color is the perfect addition to your countertop. Oh how we love a kitchen with pops of red!

2. Instead of spring cleaning, do a winter sweep. Who wants to clean when the sun is out anyways? Dedicate a snow day to decluttering your home with your boo. The Keurig® 2.0 K200 Brewing System is perfect because it’s small and compact, so it won’t clutter your kitchen countertop.

Take unwanted items and do good together by donating them to charity as a way to give back during the holidays.

3. Pick out the perfect tree for your space. You and your S.O. might have eyes for a large fir tree, but it might not make sense if you live in a small house. So, celebrate the classic tradition of picking out a Christmas tree for your home, but go for a tiny tree this holiday season. With fewer branches to fill, a small tree is also perfect for that ornament collection you just started :)

Watching Alicia laugh at Michael pretending to eat the donut ornament was just too much.

Cuteness overload.

Make your first annual Christmas card to send out to friends and family.

Halloween couples costume like Alicia and Michael? If not, get dressed up and have a photo shoot. When it’s time to send out your card, no need to get everyone’s addresses — just make a digital version to share over social media.

5. Have a craft day and make your own ugly Christmas sweaters. Ugly sweaters are the new little black dress when it comes to holiday party attire, so you and your mister each need one to wear one at all of the upcoming holiday shindigs. Rather than scouring thrift stores for that perfect knit piece, spend time being creative together. Gather supplies like jingle bells, trim, patches and sequins, and DIY your own ugly sweater.

Alicia’s adding an A+M heart to Michael’s sweater — straight lovebird status.

Have a movie marathon!

Green Mountain Coffee® Holiday Blend in hand and a compulsory bowl of popcorn, and watch a ’90s holiday movie for 12 nights leading up to Christmas, including Home Alone, Tim Allen’s The Santa Clause, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation (it was ’89, but we think it counts!) and The Nightmare Before Christmas. It’s a chance to reminisce on your favorite childhood memories together. Whoever does the best impression of Kevin’s “Aaaaah!” face gets to pick out the next movie.

7. Make Advent Calendars for each other. Thinking back on childhood, many of us have fond memories of our advent calendars. Who needs an alarm clock when you’ve got a surprise waiting for you each morning?

8. Throw an annual house party and show your friends that you and your boo can host with the most. Set up a DIY beverage station that allows your guests to have their coffee just the way they like it. The compact Keurig® 2.0 K200 Brewing System will help make setup and entertaining easy since it allows you to brew every beverage you love in under a minute, at the touch of a button.

Delight guests by offering a variety of barista-quality coffee flavors at home with the new Green Mountain Coffee® Coffeehouse collection, which includes cafe-inspired Vanilla Latte, Cappuccino and Salted Caramel Macchiato, impressively frothy beverages made with real ingredients.

Set aside time in the morning for coffee with your newlywed.

his and hers mugs and brew a cup of Green Mountain Coffee® Holiday Blend for a flavor that will fill your home with the aroma of Christmas. This blend features medium and dark roast coffees with toasted nut and mild fruit notes. Catch a whiff of this coffee and you’ll be transported to Santa’s kitchen.

Fellas, treat your newlywed to a special breakfast on Christmas morning.

The Original Donut Shop® Peppermint Bark Coffee. You can’t get enough of a good thing! This light roast is accented with creamy white chocolate and a hint of that oh-so-Christmasy candy cane flavor. Yum!

Yellowstone season 5B is here! Twisters might have been THE summer movie of 2024, but the western vibes aren't going away, even after the Glen Powell movie has left theaters. The second half of Yellowstone season 5 returned to Paramount November 10 and it did not disappoint. 16.4 million viewers tuned into the premiere over a variety of networks — making it the most-watched season premiere in the show's history.

And it's a major season for one very specific reason: Kevin Costner isn't returning as John Dutton. The star decided to exit the series after season 5's eighth episode premiered in January 2023, but as big of a change is this is, Costner is still an executive producer on the series, giving it a familiarity fans will appreciate.

Yellowstone has always been dramatic, but in the Yellowstone season 5 first look, you can just feel the tension from fan favorites like Beth Dutton, Monica Long, and Kayce Dutton. And no wonder: the Duttons' family drama is coming to a head, and it looks like someone might not make it out alive. Read up on everything you need to know about the new season of Yellowstone, and check out why Paramount+'s New Drama Landman Is Perfect For Yellowstone Fans.

Keep reading for everything you need to know about the final season of Yellowstone.

What happened on the finale of Yellowstone?

Paramount

Yellowstone season 5 had two major themes: save the ranch and avenge John Dutton's death. And the Yellowstone finale saw both of those things happen in their own way. Kayce sells the property to High Chief Thomas Rainwater at $1.25 an acre (the price when his ancestors took it) on two conditions: his family stays in their home, and the land will never be developed or sold to anyone else.

And after John's funeral (where Beth literally tells his casket she'll avenge him), Beth runs off to Jamie's house, gets into a brutal fight, and stabs him in the heart before moving to start a peaceful (?) new life in Dillon, Montana with Rip. I guess all's well that ends well?

Is this the last season of Yellowstone?

Paramount

It's always hard to say goodbye to a beloved show, but despite reports that Yellowstone would end with season 5, it looks like we could be getting a Yellowstone season 6 after all. Deadline confirmed that negotiations are happening for a potential continuation, which would focus on Kelly Reilly's Beth and Cole Hauser's Rip.

Reilly told Entertainment Weekly ahead of the season 5 premiere that "Beth is more like a wild animal this season than ever. When I read the scripts, it made me think [that] she is, for the first time, maybe afraid she will lose it for [her dad]."

"It's dark, brutal and desperate stuff — gaining power, losing it, defending and fighting," she continues. "It's bloody and at times beautiful in how it breaks them into their core selves." The setup for a potential season 6 will totally depend on how season 5 ends — and how it affects Beth, Rip, and the rest of the family.

Is Kevin Costner in Yellowstone season 5 part 2?

Paramount

No Kevin Costner is not in the second half of Yellowstone season 5, and we find out the fate of his character John Dutton immediately. When Beth and Kayce find John dead in the bathroom, Beth immediately suspects foul play and blames it on Jamie. Well, Kevin is finally speaking on his character's end, and told The Michael Smerconish Programon November 11 that he actually didn't know the show had premiered the night before.

“I’m going to be perfectly honest. I didn’t know it was actually airing last night,” he says. “That’s a swear-to-God moment. I’ve been seeing ads with my face all over the place and I’m thinking, ‘Gee, I’m not in that one.’ But I didn’t realize yesterday was the thing...I heard it’s a suicide, so that doesn’t make me want to rush to go see it.”

But even if Kevin isn't over the moon about watching his character die, he doesn't have any bad blood with the writers. “They’re pretty smart people,” he continues. “Maybe it’s a red herring. Who knows? They’re very good. And they’ll figure that out.”

Well, the actor told Entertainment Tonight that he STILL hasn't seen the season 5 premiere as of November 17. “I didn’t watch it, so I don’t really have any thoughts about it,” he said. Due to delays from the writer's strike, and a tug-of-war between Paramount saying Kevin couldn't film new episodes and Kevin saying creator Taylor Sheridan took too long to write the scripts, the actor chose to leave the series, reportedly in part to promote his Horizon movie franchise.

“I gave this thing five seasons,” the actor told The Hollywood Reporterthis summer. “I was really happy to do it. And I don’t need drama. So, let’s just take that drama away, let’s take the guessing [away]. The fans have been way too good to me. And my obligation is to go on and continue to make things that mean something to them.”

What is Yellowstone season 5 about?

Paramount

Yellowstone Season 5 Plot

The series introduced us to the Duttons, a powerful family in charge of America's biggest contiguous cattle ranch. Every season has been gritty and powerful, and in the fifth season, we've seen John become Montana's governor and make Beth his chief of staff. But with Jamie trying to take the power away from his dad, the Duttons are fighting each other like we've never seen — especially when Jamie and Beth start considering how to get away with murder.

Luke Grimes recently told Entertainment Weekly how pleased he is with the finale, and Kelly Reilly revealed creator Taylor Sheridan actually told her the ending to the series while they filmed season 1.

“I read the last episode the day before we started filming,” Luke says. “I couldn't be happier. I think it's a perfect ending for the show for every character. It's just a testament to what a good writer Taylor is, and it's a very, very profound, beautiful ending. I can't wait to sit down and watch it one day.”

This post has been updated.

It's The Holiday season — which means it's time to fangirl over Jude Law again. (Although some would argue it's always time to fangirl over Jude Law). His character Graham is a total heartthrob, as well as Iris' (Kate Winslet) big brother, but he's also a single dad to two daughters, which is where he's most swoon worthy, IMO. And the internet agrees that showing Amanda (Cameron Diaz) his dinner party alter ego Mr. Napkin Head is one of the best moments of the film. So it's safe to say that when he recreated the scene with director Nancy Meyers, the internet lost its mind.

Check out the video of Jude Law & director Nancy Meyers recreating Mr. Napkin Head from The Holiday — and teasing a potential The Holiday 2.

Jude Law & Nancy Meyers recreate Mr. Napkin Head.

Jude Law and Nancy Meyers reunited on Thursday December 12 to celebrate Jude getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. "Congrats Jude! ⭐️" Nancy said on Instagram. "I was thrilled to be at a lunch for Jude today and I had one question for him…."

While filming Jude from the other side of the table, an off-camera Nancy says, "It’s so great to see you. I don’t think I’ve seen you since we wrapped up The Holiday. Speaking of which. I’ve seen you interviewed a lot, and they keep asking you if there’s going to be a sequel, what do you think?”

In lieu of a verbal answer, Jude grabs a napkin and glasses and transforms into Mr. Napkin Head. That's not a no, Jude!!! Is this a hint that we'll see Graham again? "For the love of god, please give us a sequel 😩😩😩😩 we are dying without a new Nancy Meyers movie!!!" one user commented, while another says, "We desperately need you back in the director’s chair making another movie."

Jude Law has also revealed he's "love" to do a 'The Holiday 2'!

Jude has said in the past that the possibility for a potential sequel rests with Nancy, so the fact she's playing into the hype definitely gives me hope. “I’d love to see where they’re at,” Jude says on Today. “I’m a yes. You need to check in with everyone else...I'll ask Kate."

“I think Graham still has cardigans and glasses, and reads,” he adds in an interview with E! News. “He’s probably worried sick 'bout the girls, right? The daughters will be 28, 29.”

And in addition to teasing The Holiday 2, Jude Law also recently went viral for revealing The Holiday movie cottage doesn't actually exist — and breaking thousands of hearts in the process!

"So [Nancy Meyers], she's a bit of a perfectionist," he told BBC Radio. "She toured that whole area and didn't quite find the chocolate box cottage she's looking for...She just [rented] a field, and drew it and had someone build it."

But while the outside of the cottage looks like the perfect London Christmas card, the inside was, well...empty. "So here's the funny thing, if you watch it...We were shooting in the winter here," he continues. "And every time I'd go in that door, we'd cut, and we shot the interiors in L.A. about three months later...Just burst the bubble. Sorry!"

Which no-bake holiday dessert recipe will you try before the end of 2024?

Lead image via My Baking Addiction

Since moving from downtown Atlanta, I've been sad about not having a convenient commute to Whole Foods or Trader Joe's anymore. To circumvent my lack of access to them, I've been making frequent trips to Publix. It's been one of my go-to grocery stores lately because it has some of the freshest produce and incredible deli selections I've tasted.

Whether my fiancé and I are looking for inexpensive parmesan cheese or pasta salad that doesn't skimp on quality, Publix truly has everything we need! But, I've recently discovered the most amazing appetizer that cost me less than $15 — and I can't wait to share it with everyone who may not have the patience (or know how) to make a delicious charcuterie board yet. With just two ingredients, you can make an easy holiday appetizer that's totally giving bougie! Here's how!

Here's the inexpensive, luxe appetizer from Publix that'll fill your fancy snack needs!

Jasmine Williams

1. Firehook Baked Crackers

My childhood was filled with eating saltine crackers with soup whether I had a viral cold or upset stomach, but I've been looking for something that feels elevated. The problem is that I can be picky about the taste and texture of what I eat. But surprisingly these Firehook Baked Crackers have passed both tests!

They're super crisp and don't have an overwhelming sea salt taste, which makes my taste buds happy. They're also sturdy unlike some flimsy snacks I've tried. This is important because I knew I wanted to pair them with a tasty dip or spread. I just didn't know which until I took a chance on a new brand.

P.S. It does contain wheat, so steer clear if you're allergic to it!

Jasmine Williams

2. Alouette Garlic & Herbs, Soft Spreadable

This soft spreadable has all the makings of what I imagine bliss to taste like. I know you're thinking, "But it's garlic & herbs," — but this is what my uninterrupted staycation desires consist of! It's flavorful, yet somehow manages to remain lightweight...which is honestly rare with spreads. However, this gluten-free option will make you see stars.

A Tasty Two-Ingredient Luxe Appetizer

Jasmine Williams

Okay, don't judge me...I had to dig in before I snapped a pic. Sorry, but my camera doesn't eat first!

In short, I stand by this quick and inexpensive luxe appetizer from Publix. It's helping me to remember to eat when I'm in the thick of working and caring for a busy toddler. It doesn't require a ton of prep time either. In less than two minutes you'll be tasting a delicious blend of sea salt, garlic, and herbs!

If you're hosting this holiday season, you can delicately arrange this duo on a tray, with the garlic spread dolloped in the middle and the crackers beautifully fanning out around it. However, this is my preferred method of eating it: getting the crackers and dip on my plate as quickly as possible so I can eat it even faster.

Happy snacking!
