3 No-Heat Hair Ideas to Air Dry in Style

While we know constant heat styling can cause serious damage to our hair, our air-dried strands leave a little (or a lot) to the imagination. To help achieve beach waves without plugging in a hot tool, we tasked celebrity stylist (and Herbal Essences spokesperson) Charles Baker Strahan to teach us three different techniques for no-heat hair that work on a variety of texture, length, and thickness.

Watch him in action in the video above, and follow his tips below.

long, curly Hair: Janine

After you shampoo and condition (Janine used Herbal Essences Coconut Milk Shampoo and Conditioner), apply a small amount of a gel like Herbal Soft Control Crème Gel to your wet strands. Twist your hair to allow the water to evenly distribute the product throughout. Then, starting at the ends, comb the hair through to completely detangle it and part it in the middle.

While keeping a light tension on the hair to ensure that the hair stays smooth and straighter, put the hair into a soft larger braid. Allow the hair to air dry overnight in the braids.

Pro tip from Charles: “The key is to keep the hair flowing smoothly together and in the same direction. To assure this, it’s helpful to comb through each of the three sections of the braid and to work smoothly. Additionally, it can be helpful to use clips to hold the hair in place.”

Long, straight hair: Kimberly

Shampoo and condition the hair the night before and air dry overnight. The next morning, while the hair has as much of the natural texture in it as possible, lightly mist with water, then add a small amount of mousse like Herbal Essences Flexible Style Mousse and smooth it through for an even coating of product.

Cut an old T-shirt or cloths into roughly three-inch wide and five-inch long strips. Fold the fabric over a small section of the hair and slide it down toward the ends. Then, begin to roll the hair up. When you get about two inches away from the scalp, take the ends of the rag and tie it into a knot to hold it all in place. Allow it to set for at least two hours.

When the hair is fully dry, untie the knots and detangle the hair with your fingers. Set the look with a volumizing hairspray like Herbal Essences Volume Airspray.

short, wavy Hair: Ashton

After shampooing and conditioning (try Herbal Essences Coconut Milk Shampoo and Conditioner), create a braided halo. To achieve the style, apply a gel like Herbal Soft Control Crème Gel to your wet strands and then twist your hair to allow the water to evenly distribute. Starting at the ends, comb your hair through to completely detangle it.

Then, create two buns on each side, Princess Leia-style, and secure with pins or elastics. Allow it to air dry overnight.

When Sam and Nic Chapman, the masterminds behind one of the biggest YouTube beauty channels

and founders of

makeup brushes, stop by our office, of course, makeup demos ensue. Our staffers were all too happy to receive mini-makeovers of spring’s best beauty trends inspired by the 2017 Met Gala, courtesy of the pros.

One was a go-to classic, the no-makeup makeup look à la supermodel Joan Smalls, wearing a red Topshop gown with a plunging neckline and side cutouts.

The other was stunning burgundy eyes via Victoria’s Secret model Taylor Hill, who wore an off-the-shoulder Carolina Hererra dress with a sweeping train.

Trader Joe's

1. Teensy Candy Bars

These tiny little candy bar bites ($2.99) resemble Snickers in the best way possible: layers of nougat, caramel, and peanuts are enveloped in a delicious chocolate coating for maximum snackage. We're gonna have to resist eating the whole bag! TJ's even suggests using these bits as decoration for other desserts, like sprinkling some on a scoop of ice cream or baking them into some cookies.

Trader Joe's

2. Olive Tapenade Hummus

Trader Joe's array of dips is simply too good to resist, and this newcomer hummus ($3.49) is no exception! It's a tub of "smooth and nutty" hummus topped with a tapenade comprised of black olives, manzanilla olives, capers, and olive oil to give it a salty effect. It's gonna taste so great as a dip for crackers or as a spread on a Mediterranean pita wrap.

Trader Joe's

3. Organic Concord Grape Jelly

This squeezable grape jelly ($3.49) is nothing short of nostalgic. Trader Joe's says it's "super smooth, joyously juicy, and potently purple," which immediately has us sold on making PB&Js every day now.

Trader Joe's

4. Spicy Chicken Nuggets

Oh, yeah. Bring on the spice with these spicy nuggs ($3.99) that make the perfect easy meal no matter the time of day! Made from all-natural chicken breast and rib meat, breaded with wheat, rice and corn flours, then covered in hot sauce and lightly fried, TJ's has their texture down to a tee. You can easily cook 'em in the air fryer, oven, or microwave before chowing down!

Trader Joe's

5. Crispy Potato & Poblano Pepper Tacos

These halved and fried frozen tacos ($4.99) will totally crush your Taco Bell cravings, since they come together super quickly and contain flavors with mind-blowing authenticity! Each taco is filled with a blend of seasoned mashed potatoes and some "ever-so- slightly spicy" poblano peppers that'll work so well with any dipping sauce, from TJ's salsa to their creamy Jalapeño Sauce.

Trader Joe's

6. Strawberry Mini Hold The Cone!

Just in time for Valentine's Day, Trader Joe's is debuting a new flavor ($3.99) of their classic Hold The Cone! frozen dessert: strawberry! These tiny, chocolate-covered cones are lined with even more "rich" chocolate on the inside, then packed with strawberry ice cream, which TJ's says is crafted with plenty of strawberry purée.

Trader Joe's

7. Caesar Salad Dip

Trader Joe's shoppers have said this new Caesar Salad Dip ($3.69) makes a perfect girl dinner addition– which, if you get it, you get it! The tub starts with a "creamy" base that's then loaded up with Caesar-seasoned sour cream, mayo, anchovy paste, Parmesan, and finely shredded Romaine for the crunch. It's best enjoyed with crackers or veggie sticks to dip, but you could also smatter fried chicken or seared steak in it for some ahh-mazing flavor!

Doing video interviews over platforms like Skype have become increasing popular because they’re convenient, they save a ton of time, and they can be done in the privacy of your home. Unfortunately, tech issues and lack of attention to detail are often inevitable and end up irritating (instead of impressing) your potential hiring manager. The team over at Skype shared their best video interview tips for job seekers.

1. You couldn’t find your interviewer. You have an interview scheduled for 1pm, and you open up Skype at 12:58 pm but you can’t seem to connect with the right person. This scenario is typical and avoidable if you are proactive and make sure to connect with your interviewer when you initially receive their Skype username.

2. You didn’t test your tech. You figured since you’ve used Skype a zillion times before that you don’t need to do a test call. Unfortunately, when you log in, you realize your version is out of date and need to restart your computer and end up delaying your call. Or maybe your microphone was switched off. Or you can’t hear your interviewer. You’ll be losing precious interview time, not to mention getting on your interviewer’s nerves and all of these delays will factor into your overall interview, just like arriving late for an in-person interview.

3. You didn’t clean yourself up. Many people think that their appearance doesn’t matter when it comes to a video interview. These folks could not be more wrong. It’s essential to place yourself in a space that maximizes who you are as a job candidate. A messy desk, empty food containers, or a closet that’s in desperate need of a clean up are all reflections of who you are as a candidate. Part of any job interview (virtual or not) includes your presentation and your chosen interview space — especially if it’s your home — really does get added into your overall candidacy ranking. Don’t let a cluttered desk or an untidy shelf mess up a potential job opportunity.

4. You didn’t get completely dressed. You figured the interviewer could only see your face and shoulders, so you didn’t bother to put on shoes or pants and figured a high cut crop top was fine. It’s not. For any interview — even a phone interview — it’s important to look the part. As soon as you don an outfit that makes you feel powerful and look great, your mood will embrace these qualities as well. Make sure to shrug your shoulders, sit back in your chair, and lock the door. Otherwise, your outfit (or lack thereof) will be exposed. This BBC interview proves that the unexpected can always happen.

5. You didn’t remain focused. When people Skype, there’s a tendency to look into the middle of the screen. Instead, you want to make eye contact with the interviewer — just like you would in an in-person interview. Look directly into the camera. You shouldn’t be sifting through papers on your desk, answering texts, or opening up other tabs on your browser. Maintain focus and connection, and make sure yapping dogs or loud sirens are not part of your interview. Keep a pair of earphones handy to throw on to help with overall voice quality.

6. You didn’t put your phone down. Skype has a mobile app, and many people tend to do their interviews (especially job interviews) while they are on the go and outside of their offices. Keep in mind though, holding your phone in front of you is distracting and you’re guaranteed to switch arms during the call which will distract the interviewer. To avoid any disruptions, set your phone down on a table and prop it up. Business card holders are a great makeshift easel to prop up your phone and keep it steady.

Dua Lipa and Callum Turner spent New Years Eve together, and based on the giant ring Dua's wearing on THAT finger, it looks like they could be spending the rest of their lives together too! This celebrity couple were first spotted together in January 2024, and immediately became my favorite couple, like, ever. Engagement rumors were flying by the end of the year, and thanks to Dua Lipa's latest Instagram posts, the internet is more convinced than ever that these two will be headed down the aisle soon.

Here's everything we know about those Dua Lipa and Callum Turner engagement rumors.

Dua Lipa's been wearing a gorgeous ring on THAT finger since Christmas.

In a post celebrating the holidays, Dua Lipa posted a roundup of photos — led by a shot of her wearing a sherpa jacket and reindeer antlers. But as fun as her outfit is, the internet immediately focused on another detail: her new ring. It appears to be a diamond on a chunky gold band, and if you ask me, the ring's modern, glam look is the perfect vibe for the "Houdini" singer.

"THE RING," one user commented, while another user said, "ENGAGED VIBESSSSSSSSSS," under another end-of-year post.

And when Dua Lipa finally posted photos from her epic New Year's Eve celebration on January 3, a third user commented, "We all still waiting to see the 💍." TLDR; the singer's fans really want to know if she's engaged! But if there's one thing I know for sure, it's that this couple won't tell us unless they want to. And I'm here for it!

And Dua Lipa and Callum Turner are totally "mad about each other."

Dua Lipa and Callum Turner keep their relationship pretty private (aside from some very cute walks), but according to one Page Six source, they've been "mad about each other" from the start. And it's clear because these two can't keep their hands off each other!

"Dua and Callum are so in love and know this is forever," a source told The Sun in December 2024. “They are engaged and couldn’t be happier. Dua has had one of the best years of her career professionally and this is the cherry on the cake."

"Callum is such a solid support for Dua and they make a wonderful couple," the source continues. "Their family and friends are so happy. It’s been an amazing Christmas for them.”

Stay tuned for the latest news on Dua Lipa and Callum Turner's potential engagement, and read up on Tom Holland and Zendaya's engagement!
