Make This Poundcake Ombre Trifle Recipe (Only 4 Ingredients!)

We will always have a fondness for everything ombre here at Brit + Co. Which is why, in addition to our ombre jewelry, cakes, and even tights, we’ve made an ombre dessert! If you’re tired of eating pie since Thanksgiving, this ombre trifle is the perfect dessert for you. Not only does it not require any baking, it’s delicious and beautiful. We just couldn’t resist. And obviously we put it in a mason jar to make it that much cuter.

Ingredients:

– 1 lb store-bought pound cake

– 1 lb fresh seasonal fruits (we used strawberries and raspberries)

– 3 cups heavy cream

– 2/3 cup sugar

– food coloring

– round cookie cutter

*Note: you can also buy your own whipped cream if you don’t have time to make your own. If you decide to do that, then omit the heavy cream or sugar.

Start off by popping your mixing bowl (that you’ll make the whipped cream in) into the fridge. Then, cut your pound cake into slices. Cut them to how thick you want your trifle layers to be. Use the cookie cutter to stamp out round layers for your trifle. The height of your mason jar will tell you how many layers you need– we used 3 cake layers. Put your cake layers in the fridge when you’re done cutting to stay cool.

Now, onto the whipped cream! Combine cream and sugar in the chilled mixing bowl. Beat with a hand mixer until it looks like a cloud. It’ll first have bubbles, but keep mixing away until it’s smooth and pillowy. Once you’re done, separate the whipped cream into 3 different bowls. Add food coloring until you reach the desired color. We would recommend putting food color very sparingly in the first bowl, the lightest layer. We use toothpicks to drop a hint of color for the lightest layers.

Time to assemble the trifle! Essentially, a trifle is layered cake, cream, and fruit. You can arrange it however you’d like. We started with one layer of cake, a layer of cream, a layer of fruit, a little more cream and then started over again. Pile until you reach the top.

Then, you’re done! We garnished the top with a few raspberries to add some sweetness. Some other things you can add are chocolate, sprinkles, whatever your heart desires!

There’s nothing like a soft flannel shirt to keep you warm in the cold. They’re not only super comfy, like wearing PJs in public, but they’re also a closet staple that works for both men and women. We decided to give our softest flannel shirt a new look this season with a dip-dye DIY. Once you get the hang of fabric dyeing, you’ll want to transform your whole closet with a colorful dip dye. The possibilities are endless!

How To Make Your Own Dip Dye Flannel Shirt

Materials and Tools:

flannel shirt
fabric dye
plastic bucket
gloves
stir stick
cup or jar

Instructions:

Make sure your shirt is laundered to remove any factory residue and prepare it to properly absorb dye.
Follow the package instructions to mix up your dye solution.
Fill your plastic bucket with water according to the package instructions and half of your mixed dye solution.
Wet your flannel shirt and dip it into the dye solution where you want the dye to start.
Follow the package instructions, and every few minutes pull the fabric out of the dye bath about an inch or so. We followed the instructions and moved it every 10 minutes for a total of 60 minutes.
Add the rest of the dye solution to the bucket and keep pulling more fabric out every few minutes until you’ve removed it completely.
Rinse the shirt in warm to cold water until the water runs clear.
Once dry, the dye will lighten in color, so don’t worry if it looks too dark to start.

If you can’t find the color you want, try combining a few colors of fabric dye.

By only using half of the dye solution to start and adding the rest later, we can create a soft ombre effect.

You can choose a dye that complements the colors in your shirt or go wild with colorful combinations.

It would be funny if I weren't joking because the running joke is social media influences people to do too much. With the help of my Ninja Espresso machine, I've whipped up everything from a cinnamon sugar to a matcha latte, and they've been frighteningly good coming from someone who rarely drinks coffee.

Iced Caramel & Cinnamon Sugar Latte

This was my first successful attempt at making an at-home latte recipe and it's easily become my favorite thing to drink in the morning. A ton of trial and error was involved, but I've perfected the amount of ingredients I like to use so it's super easy to make.

Ingredients:

3 Teaspoons Cinnamon Sugar

2-3 Teaspoons of Nescafé Gold Espresso Blonde, Instant Coffee

Ghiradelli Premium Caramel Sauce

Caramel Syrup (any brand works!)

Unsweetened Original Almond Milk (I Prefer Silk)

A mini hand frother (if you don't have an espresso machine at home)

Ice

Steps:

Drizzle caramel sauce in your glass of choice and add ice to it.
Using a separate, smaller cup, scoop in cinnamon sugar and Nescafe' Gold Espresso Blonde. Pour in a small amount of unsweetened almond milk and use a handheld frother to mix them together. Set aside once done.
Take the same unsweetened almond milk and pour in a few oz. to the glass you drizzled caramel sauce in.
Pour your cinnamon sugar, milk and, Nescafé Gold Espresso Blonde mixture into it.

Does strawberry and caramel really go together? If you ask this delicious latte, they do! I actually used the same ingredients from my Caramel & Cinnamon Sugar Latte outside of using strawberry syrup instead of caramel! The only tip I have is to avoid being heavy-handed with how much you use because it can be unbearable sweet if you're not eyeing it. Two pumps at the most should do the trick!

DIY Basics | Ombre Wine Bottles

You know we can’t get enough of spray paint and repurposing, and what better thing to repurpose after a weekend of Halloween mischief than all those empty wine, liquor, and beer bottles? Here’s a quick and easy way to create an ombre wine bottle centerpiece – all you need is a few cans of spray paint!

We went for a candy corn motif but any color combination would do the trick!

Materials:
– orange, white, and yellow spray paint

– empty wine bottles, labels removed

– cardboard (for your spray painting space)

– optional: pumpkin, leaves, twigs, candy corns

First, get those labels off your wine bottles. Soak bottles in hot water and then labels should be pretty easy to peel off.

Set your spray paint area. Always spray paint outside, if you can, or in an extremely well-ventilated area.

First, spray paint the bottle white. Then orange in the middle. And lastly, yellow! That’s it!

If you want a little more style, add another layer of white on stop to create a drip effect over the orange. This would look pretty perfect with some wine cork candles.

Let try for an hour or so. Then create a fun fall centerpiece!

Sydney Sweeney broke the internet when she announced she'd postponed her engagement. And when she clapped back at her bikini body haters. And when she went topless on Instagram. But her recent Instagram post from filming The Housemaid just broke our Brit + Co group chat because of just how many times Brandon Sklenar appeared — and one very specific video that had us squealing.

Throughout Sydney Sweeney's newest Instagram post, which she calls "a very very late jan x feb photo dump," she posts some reunions with Euphoria costars Maude Apatow and Barbie Ferrera and behind the scenes from The Housemaid (where she stars opposite Amanda Seyfried and Brandon Sklenar).

I couldn't help but notice that Brandon shows up multiple times in the photo carousel: a selfie while he, Sydney, and a couple other women wear racing helmets, a photo in an arcade, and then a video where they're trying out a TikTok trend.

In the video, Brandon lifts Sydney up to sit on his shoulders while Rihanna's "Breakin' Dishes" plays in the background. They do more than a couple attempts until they get the video just right — and that includes lots of giggles from Syd, and a moment where she almost falls off his back.

"we love costars with chemistry," one X user says, while another adds, "They look so cute together."

Although, my goodness, if a man lifted me onto his shoulder that easily, I'd be in a fit of giggles too! (Although his strength makes sense given his upcoming role in The Olympian).

A third X user wonders whether the video is just a marketing strategy to drum up conversation — especially after Sydney confirmed all that chemistry with Glen Powell during Anyone But You was literally just to get the internet in a tizzy.

"I wanted to make sure that we were actively having a conversation with the audience as we were promoting this film," she told The New York Times. "Because at the end of the day, they’re the ones who created the entire narrative."

"Once [the movie] did become a success, a lot of the interviews were just questions about [the rumors], so I don’t know if we necessarily were planning on ever talking about the strategy behind any of it," she added in a conversation with Vanity Fair. "We just had very specific questions and when you say no to a question, people think that you’re a b—ch, so."
