On What Would Have Been Aaliyah’s 40th Birthday, Activists Are Demanding That RCA Records Drop R. Kelly

Nearly two weeks after Lifetime aired Surviving R. Kelly, a powerful, painful six-part documentary series detailing the allegations of abuse against singer R. Kelly, women are protesting his contract with RCA Records.

The documentary was preceded by a campaign called #MuteRKelly, which, in partnership with Time’s Up, aimed to get radio stations, streaming services, ticket sellers, concert venues, and RCA Records to drop R. Kelly’s music and performances. Today, participants in the campaign are protesting outside RCA Records headquarters in New York City, once again demanding that the company sever its ties with Kelly. Wednesday’s protest includes activists from Color of Change, UltraViolet, and Girls for Gender Equality.

The timing of the protest is notable in that it marks what would have been the 40th birthday of the late R&B singer Aaliyah (born Aaliyah Dana Haughton), who Kelly is reported to have illegally married when she was just 15 years old (and which Kelly denies). Haughton died in a 2001 plane crash at the age of 22.

In addition to participating in the protest against RCA Records, Color of Change is also collecting signatures for a petition demanding that RCA drop its contract with R. Kelly. A portion of the call to action that accompanies the petition reads: “RCA promotes and funds his explicit music and they actually allow him to brand himself as ‘The Pied Piper’ after the fairytale character who used his musical talents to lure children away from their parents. This is unacceptable — it’s past time for R. Kelly to stop making money to perform songs that glorify his hunting and assaulting young women…”

Though allegations of abuse against Kelly have been known for many years, it wasn’t until more recently that the rest of society caught up to the concerns and activism of the Black women who first sounded the alarm. Now that the allegations been more thoroughly addressed through the eyes of his accusers in the docuseries, there’s more hope that RCA can be pressured to drop the controversial artist. (Kelly, meanwhile, has long denied any allegations of abuse and reportedly threatened legal action against the Lifetime network for making claims that his lawyers maintain are false.)

In May of last year, Hollywood powerhouses including director Ava DuVernay published a statement saying, “As women of color within Time’s Up, we recognize that we have a responsibility to help right this wrong. We intend to shine a bright light on our WOC sisters in need. It is our hope that we will never feel ignored or silenced ever again.” Time’s Up also called on RCA to end its relationship with Kelly when they released their statement.

RCA may be cracking, too. TMZ reported on Monday that sources with inside information say RCA will not produce or release any new music from Kelly, and will not invest new money into his projects, pending a reported criminal investigation against Kelly in Georgia. Whether or not the company will risk a potential lawsuit from Kelly by ending his contract early remains to be seen, but TMZ correctly notes that RCA would certainly be subject to even more public backlash if the company were to release new music from Kelly following the Lifetime series.

The pressure against Kelly’s remaining, alleged enablers is certainly mounting. With a boost from #MeToo and Time’s Up as well as progressive non-profit organizations such as Color of Change, the original, years-long #MuteRKelly campaign may now have the critical mass needed to tip the scales.

Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds surprised us all when they showed up to the SNL50 special celebration on February 16, especially when Ryan cracked a joke about how the couple is doing among their legal battle with It Ends With Us director Justin Baldoni. "Why?" he asked Tina Fey & Amy Poehler. "What have you heard?"

Well, despite reports that some people in Hollywood thought they needed to sit the event out, the couple has "nothing to hide" — and Blake is feeling more confident and "more ready" than she did before.

Here's how Blake Lively is feeling after the SNL50 special celebration as her legal battle with Justin Baldoni continues.

Blake Lively wants to "ease back into the spotlight" amid Justin Baldoni feud.

- YouTube

"Blake felt a bit anxious about attending the SNL anniversary. She still thought it was the perfect opportunity to ease back into the spotlight," a source tells People. "They had many friends attending, and as soon as they arrived, they received a warm welcome. It was a great event."

The SNL50 celebration included guests like Pedro Pascal, Steve Martin, Kim Kardashian, and Eddie Murphy, alongside the Deadpool & Wolverine actors.

"Blake wouldn't mind staying out of the spotlight for longer, but she has to get back to work with Anna Kendrick soon anyway," the source continues (Blake and Anna will start promo for their new movie Another Simple Favor this spring). "She feels more ready now. She knows it will be a long year with continued drama, but she’s just trying to focus on the good things. Her family is everything to her.”

And considering Blake told Brit + Co during our It Ends With Us interview that her family is "all over" the movie, I totally believe that. "Motherhood influenced this — my own mother influenced this," she says. "I was lucky to be able to be involved in so many different aspects of movie, not just onscreen, on screen is the smallest amount of work that I did in this film to be honest. And I took the relationships with my mother and my sisters, or my children, and my feelings and I mean, it's all over this film."

And Blake Lively is looking ahead toward "projects that she's excited about."

After the alleged It Ends With Us cast drama went viral, a source told PeopleBlake was "pretty surprised at the backlash and drama," which "felt out of control to her."

"She initially felt very vulnerable and upset," the source said. "During the promotion of the movie, not one day went by when she was not in the news in an unfavorable light. She's just not used to this kind of drama."

However, Blake "enjoys working and will continue to push forward projects that she's excited about," which includes A Simple Favor 2 with Anna Kendrick, which is on Prime Video May 1!

Dining rooms today are becoming less formal and more flexible, often doubling as workspaces, reading nooks, or casual lounges. The old fussy interior design rules no longer apply — it’s a space where you can experiment and play with aesthetic ideas like vintage charm with a modern twist or rustic warmth with a bit of minimalist sleekness. From moody, art-filled spaces to light and airy rooms with organic elements, the key is to creating a space that feels cozy and inviting for hosting and everyday use.

Here are 10 stunning dining room ideas to totally reinvent your space!

1. Banquette Seating

Michael P.H. Clifford

Built-in banquettes helps maximize space and create a cozy environment for dining, kind of like living room meets dining area. Kirsten Blazek of a1000xbetter, used her magic to turn a gloomy galley kitchen into a bright and airy space for dining in. "We were able to provide not just a beautiful kitchen, but one that was much more functional as well," says Kirsten.

Serena & Lily

You don't have to splurge on a custom built-in banquette either. Find a stand-alone one from places like Interior Define and West Elm. A sweet loveseat like this one from Serena & Lily also makes guests feel like they can stay a while.

2. Marble Tables

Anthropologie

Marble is making a statement across walls, tables, and accessories, giving dining rooms a regal touch. Paired with this sculptural wavy banquette, the classic stone takes on a fresh, modern edge with the Anthropologie Kanta Square Marble Dining Table.

3. Striped Wallpaper

Alice Palmer & Co.

Stripes are making a bold impact across walls, tablescapes, and even upholstered chairs, adding a cute and carefree vibe. This classic pattern from Alice Palmer & Co keeps the space effortlessly stylish and inviting too.

4. Toile Wallpaper

Pottery Barn

Classic patterns like toile are making a comeback, giving dining rooms a timeless, storybook charm. I love this option from Pottery Barn!

5. Velvet Seating

CB2

CB2 Hank Tufted Light Blue Velvet Dining Chair

Velvet is another way designers are warming up the dining space, while still keeping them elegant. This velvet dining chair designed by Caleb Zipperer takes cues from classic Italian designs of the 1960s and 1970s, upholstered in a stunning soft blue velvet.

6. Vintage Furniture

James & James

Antique hutches, sideboards, and dining tables are making a comeback, adding a layer of history and character to modern dining rooms. I especially love round pedestal tables to create a warm, intimate setting where everyone feels included in the conversation.

7. Color Mixing

Anthropologie

Anthropologie Winton Lacquered Dining Table

Neutrals will always exude a timeless elegance, but a colorful dining room brings an undeniable energy and warmth. From bold-painted walls to colorful chairs and tables — like this table from Anthropologie — and statement artwork, color can transform the space into a lively, inviting hub for gathering and chit-chat.

8. Organic Materials & Shapes

Lulu & Georgia

Playing with sculptural minimalism, organic shapes and subtle hues can transform a dining space into a work of art —where form dominates over bold color. Look for curvy silhouettes, fluid lines, and natural textures to get the look. These Sarah Sherman Samuel Whit Dining Chairs are perfect for that!

9. Bold & Moody Walls

@sbcreative_ via Farrow & Ball Paint

Deep hues in greens (like this one from Farrow & Ball!), blues, and reds create a cozy and eye-catching dining space you'll love too.

Saturday Night Live just had a 50th anniversary celebration to remember, but despite some iconic callbacks and celebrity cameos, one moment everyone's talking about didn't really have to do with the sketches at all: Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively's appearance.

During a Q&A with Amy Poehler and Tina Fey, Ryan Reynolds stood up to ask a question, with Blake Lively sitting right beside him. After the SNL icons asked him how he was, the Deadpool actor responded, "Great. Why, what have you heard?" And while the audience laughed at the inferred reference to the ongoing legal battle with Justin Baldoni, sources are saying others aren't so happy with the couple's appearance.

Here's what people are saying about Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively's appearance on the SNL50 special.

Ryan Reynolds & Blake Lively "have no regrets" about their SNL50 special appearance.

While the moment with Ryan Reynolds got some laughs, a Page Six insider reveals that, "People in Hollywood think Blake and Ryan attending the SNL 50th anniversary show was not a good look," and that it might have been a good idea for the couple to "have sat this one out.”

But even though the appearance got some mixed reviews, another source promises they "have no regrets about making an appearance at the show,” and that they “were two of the last people to leave Studio 8H."

"Blake was initially hesitant to attend the SNL 50th anniversary show but ultimately she’s glad she attended and had a really nice time,” the second source continues. “They’re glad they showed up because they have nothing to hide and no reason not to.”

The SNL50 special, and the brief look at Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively, came after Blake and Justin Baldoni filed lawsuits against one another — Blake against Justin for alleged sexual harassment and Justin against Blake, Ryan, and the New York Times for defamation.

"It’s very plausible that Justin’s legal team will use this public outing to defend him,” according to the Page Six source. “Justin is taking this lawsuit in all seriousness and isn’t making a public mockery out of it."

Recently, Justin Baldoni published a website with an Amended Complaint and It Ends With Us timeline, but according to First Amendment lawyer Kevin Goldberg, the website is "unnecessary."

"I think it's unusual and I'm not sure it's appropriate once you have already filed a defamation lawsuit," he tells Forbes. "Legally speaking, it's not going to be, itself, relevant as evidence. It could be introduced in evidence but there's no need for it."

"The reason we have very strict standards for anyone who is trying to win a defamation lawsuit — and in particular, a celebrity who is trying to win a defamation lawsuit is they can do things like this," Kevin continues. "Use a website and PR team to restore their reputation, they don't need to use the courts to restore their reputation. So why did he do both is my big question. It seems like his real goal is not to win the lawsuit but restore his good name, just, generally in the public view."

Narcissists can be charming, confident, and persuasive, but beneath the surface, they really thrive on manipulation, control, and a constant need for validation. They seek out people who will boost their ego, cater to their demands, and tolerate their toxic behaviors.

If you've ever felt like a magnet for narcissists, your zodiac sign might have something to do with it. Whether due to their deep empathy, loyalty, or desire to fix others, here are eight signs that tend to attract narcissists.

Scroll to find out the zodiac signs that attract narcissists the most.

Brit + Co

1. Pisces (February 20 – March 21)

Pisces are the healers of the zodiac, known for their compassion and emotional sensitivity. They're able to see the good in others, even when it's buried beneath layers of toxicity, which makes them prime targets for narcissists.

Plus, since Pisces crave deep connections, they may mistake a narcissist's initial charm and intensity for genuine affection.

Brit + Co

2. Libra (September 23 – October 22)

Libras are one of the most relationship-oriented signs in the zodiac because they thrive on harmony, balance, and connection. They're also naturally drawn to confidence and charisma, which are qualities that narcissists often exude.

It's true that a strong and assertive partner can be healthy, but narcissists take it a step further and use their dominance to manipulate and control. Libras may find themselves justifying toxic behaviors, smoothing out conflicts, and prioritizing the relationship over their well-being.

Brit + Co

3. Cancer (June 22 – July 22)

Cancers are driven by wanting to care for and protect the people they love. Their emotional intelligence and sensitivity make them very compassionate partners, yet narcissists may take advantage of that.

Narcissists are great at playing the victim and trying to get sympathy. To a Cancer, this may trigger their instinct to try to heal, support, and "fix" the person they think is hurting.

Brit + Co

4. Leo (July 23 – August 22)

Leos are bold and drawn to others who have a lot of confidence since they excel in the presence of strong personalities. However, it's their love for admiration and excitement that makes them vulnerable to a narcissist's charm.

You may think that a narcissist's larger-than-life image seems like a perfect match for Leo's own vibrant energy. On the contrary, this sign also has deep emotional needs that extend beyond surface-level charisma.

And given the fact that narcissists are more focused on themselves than true connection, they may fail to provide Leos the loyalty, appreciation, and warmth they crave.

Brit + Co

5. Taurus (April 21 – May 21)

Ruled by Venus, Taurus is one of the most devoted signs of the zodiac. They have a high capacity for love and unwavering loyalty.

Additionally, this sign tends to give parts of themselves to their relationships, offering patience, stability, and unconditional love. Narcissists might see this as an opportunity to take without giving back.

Brit + Co

6. Virgo (August 23 – September 22)

Virgos are known for their selflessness and willingness to go above and beyond for their loved ones. They're thoughtful and constantly searching for ways to better their relationships. This makes them a magnet for narcissists, who seek out partners that can serve and accommodate their every need.

Narcissists take advantage of how Virgos sometimes lose themselves in relationships and believe that, if they work hard enough, they can "fix" their partner's flaws.

This sign may try to rationalize toxic behavior and convince themselves that with enough effort, the tides will turn. In reality, narcissists have no intentions of changing; they just enjoy having someone who's devoted to their needs.

Brit + Co

7. Scorpio (October 23 - November 21)

Scorpios are magnetic, intense, and emotional, but while these traits may naturally earn admiration from others, they could also draw in narcissists. As partners, Scorpios tend to be very supportive and compassionate, and it's this loyalty that can make them a target.

Unlike other signs, though, Scorpios are rarely fooled for long. They learn from their experiences quickly and don't typically repeat their mistakes. In the future, this sign will pick up on any manipulation tactics early and cut ties once they recognize a pattern.

Brit + Co

8. Aries (March 21 – April 19)

Finally, Aries are confident, passionate, and driven people, which makes them excellent leaders. Even so, narcissists are drawn to powerful and self-assured people, like Aries, because they see them as a challenge to conquer.

This sign loves a challenge, too, and may initially be intrigued by the push-and-pull dynamic of a narcissistic relationship. But, before long, Aries will often become frustrated if they feel manipulated since they thrive on independence.
