5 One-Minute Ponytail Hacks Straight from NYFW Runway

New York Fashion Week has come and gone, but that doesn’t mean we’re going to stop ogling the best beauty looks to come out of the Fall 2015 shows. That’s especially because, unlike the clothes, you don’t actually *have* to wait for next season to start wearing the biggest trends. For us, the one have-to-try-now style was the runway ponytail. The look was everywhere, paired with both the most casual of get-ups and the fanciest gowns, and done up in a ton of easy-to-DIY ways. And when we say “easy,” we mean it: scroll below to learn how to hack the best NYFW ponytails in one minute flat.

Side Knot Pony

The pretty messy ponys at Nicholas K are just the right amount of everyday undone, and looks especially cute on two-tone hair. (Photo via Fernanda Calfat/Getty)

Step 1: Side Part + Two Side Sections

First comb your hair over into an extreme side part and pull all of your hair over to the side of your head where the part is heavier. Then separate into two sections.

Step 2: Knot It Up

Take those two sections and tie them together into a knot just like you would the first step in tying your shoe.

Step 3: Tie Off + Disguise

Once you get the knot in place, rejoin the two sections of hair to create one ponytail, then use a thin elastic to tie off. To hide the elastic and complete this look, grab a small piece of hair, wrap it around the elastic and secure with a bobby pin.

French Twist Pony

Hervé Léger’s girls sported a strong yet feminine French twist that we took in a more romantic direction. (Photos via Fernanda Calfat/Getty)

Step 1: Side Part + Top Section

First comb your hair over placing a deep side part and then grab the top section of hair (what would be your bangs if you have them) and lift it up to keep the direction of hair at an angle.

Step 2: Twist Twist Twist!

Begin to twist your hair, pulling the twist up and away around two inches from your hair-line. When you get to a point where that section is fully twisted, pick up another section to add into this twist, just like you would if you were doing a French braid.

Step 3: Complete Twist + Tie Off

When you get to the nape of your neck, tie off each twist with a thin elastic.

Step 5: Crossover + Twist Again

Now take the two sections of hair that you tied off with elastics, twist them across and together to create a single ponytail. To keep the twisted ponytail from unwinding, add a bobby pin to the top right where the two twisted sections meet in the center of the back of your head.

Step 6: Make It Romantic

To complete this look, gently pull apart the top section of the twisted ponytail you just pinned. This effect will completely soften this look, making it more care-free and romantic. If you want a more refined finish, just skip this step.

It’s a gorgeous take on a traditional crown braid in the back, and looks like a vintage dream in the front!

Flip + Clip

Tresses at Suno were topsy turvy yet still totally chic – a flirty look that’s first date-approved. (Photo via Mireya Acierto/Getty)

Step 1: Prep + Smooth

You want to use a smoothing agent like Rusk Deepshine Anti-Friz Spray ($15) to tame your flyaways and help shape and shine your hair. Apply all around the perimeter of your head then comb back your hair to set it.

Step 2: Chic Ponytail

Once you’ve got your hair into a smooth ponytail that hits right above the nape of your neck, use the same anti-frizz spray on your ponytail and comb through to give it that smooth, clean finish.

Step 3: Clip It

Fold the ponytail up in half and secure in place with a chic clip ($14), leaving the ends of the ponytail out to complete the look.

We love the casual way the ends fall over the clip, but if you wanted less of the fringe effect, simply secure your hair nearer to the ends. Just know you’ll be missing out on an adorable photo op (see below).

Posh Twist Pony

Spotted at the Victoria Beckham show, we’re calling this sculptural ponytail posh for obvious reasons. It’s our new go-to style to wear with our LBDs. (Photo via @victoriabeckham)

Step 1: High Pony + Smooth Down

Pull all of your hair up into a high ponytail and secure with an elastic. Then, slick back your hair using the TIGI Bed Head Hair Stick ($13). Run the waxy stick along your ponytail smoothing down all around your head. To make it blend well, gently comb over from your hairline back towards your ponytail with a fine tooth comb.

Step 2: Twist + Pin

Twist your ponytail until you it starts to twist over on itself again at the base where your elastic is in place. Hold this fold over with your other hand to secure with bobby pins.

Step 4: Pin Half Bun

Start by placing a bobby pin at the top of the little half bun you created and then finish by pinning at the bottom. You can cross pin (using two bobby pins in an “X” formation) if you have thicker hair and need the extra reinforcement.

It looks even more posh on profile.

Headband Pony

The prep school-inspired hair at Richard Chai made it official: the headband is back. Paired with a twiste low bun, it’s an accessory *destined* for the office. (Photo via Frazer Harrison/Getty)

Step 1: Prep For Headband

Quickly pull your hair up into a high messy bun just to get your hair out of the way.

Step 2: Headband Up

Now with your hair out of the way, slip on your headband. You can use any headband your little heart desires, in this case we just went with classic black like this Yoga Stretch Cotton Headband ($2).

Step 3: Messy Twisted Low Bun

Let your hair down and use your fingers to comb through and secure a low ponytail at the nape of your neck. It is okay if your hairs are a little messy, frizzy or out of place: this will only add to the playfulness of this look. Twist your ponytail around allowing all of your baby hairs or layers to fly out. When you get to the end, use a couple bobby pins to keep it in place.

Step 4: Mess It Up

Loosen and mess up the top portion of your hair to drive home this relaxed look.

It’s the perfect mix of pretty and messy.

What runway hair left you drooling? Tell us which NYFW looks you’d love to DIY in the comments below.

Summertime, and you know what they say about the living being oh-so-easy. Your hair should be easy, too! The best thing about summer hairstyles is that somehow the more messy and undone the finished look is, the better. Can't really beat that, can you? Here are three super easy, super fresh updos to add to the mix this summer.

Now, can someone mix me up a refreshing cocktail? ;)

Totally Twisted

1. Start off by separating your hair on one side, a little behind your ear.

2. Use a clip to hold the front section in place and out of your way.

3. Do the same thing on the other side.

4. Now, working with the back section, split it into two sections (it is okay if it is not perfectly even) and twist each section.

5. Join the two twists together and secure in place with an elastic.

6. Remove the clip from one of the sections in the front.

7. Twist the front section until you get to the ends.

8. Cross the twisted front section over the back ponytail and then secure the end of the twisted hair with a bobby pin into the previously twisted section.

9. Repeat the same steps for the other side.

10. Back comb the hair that is in the original ponytail to create a messy, fuller look.

11. Pull out some random pieces in the front to keep the look more playful and undone.

We love this take on the low pony.

Effortlessly Tousled

1. Pick up a small section of hair from the front and twist it in the direction away from your face.

2. Using a fine toothed comb, backcomb gently to create a messy curl that will stay in place.

3. Do this all throughout your hair on both sides of your head remembering to twist away from your face.

4. Gently pull your hair back in a low pony trying not to pull out the shape you just back combed in.

5. Twist the hair around until it is in a secure place to pin.

6. Using bobby pins that match your hair color, pin the twisted hair into place. Don't worry about a few stray hairs — they add to the tousled look.

7. Repeat the same steps on the other side of your head. Done!

Va va voom!

Ultimate Texture

1. Pick up a small section of hair from one side of your head leaving out some of your bangs or front section of your hair.

2. Braid that section and use a bobby pin to hold in place. You can set this braid aside for now.

3. Backcomb the back section of your hair to create volume.

4. Place another small braid on the same side.

5. Repeat the same thing on the other side of your head.

6. Pin the braid towards the back of your head in the lower back section of your head.

7. Pick up another small section of hair and this time twist it back and then pin it as well.

8. Pull all the hair from that side into a low pony in the back of your head, twist it up and secure it with a few bobby pins.

9. Now, pull the original braid you placed in the front section back and pin it in place.

10. Repeat these steps on the opposite side of you head.

11. For all those stray hairs that fell out and the section of hair you left out in the front, use a ½-inch curling iron to place tiny random curls for a contrasting texture.

12. Use your fingers to pull some of the curls a little looser for an even more textured look.

That's it!

We can't wait to lounge on the beach, go window shopping, and grab our favorite lattes this summer. After a year spent indoors, we're ready to throw our hair up and get outside. Good thing these summer hairstyles only take five minutes!

Scream 6 was one of the hottest movies of 2023, and we've been looking forward to Scream 7 since the credits started rolling! Even though we won't see Melissa Barrera return, I'm super excited to see Neve Campbell return as Sidney Prescott — and it looks like in addition to Friends star Courteney Cox stepping back into Gale Weathers' shoes, we'll also be seeing a beloved Yellowstone universe star taking on a brand new role.

Keep reading for the latest Scream 7 news — and everything you need to know about the cast.

Is Sidney going to be in Scream 7?

Brownie Harris/Paramount Pictures

Scream 7 Cast

Yes, Sidney Prescott will be in Scream 7! “Sidney Prescott is coming back!!!!” franchise lead Neve Campbell says on Instagram. “It’s always been such a blast and an honor to get to play Sidney in the ‘Scream’ movies. My appreciation for these films and for what they have meant to me, has never waned. I’m very happy and proud to say I’ve been asked, in the most respectful way, to bring Sidney back to the screen and I couldn’t be more thrilled.”

The actress was not involved in Scream 6 due to salary inequity. "As a woman I have had to work extremely hard in my career to establish my value, especially when it comes to ‘Scream,'" she told Variety ahead of the sixth movie's release. "I felt the offer that was presented to me did not equate to the value I have brought to the franchise."

Who else is in the cast of Scream 7?

Brownie Harris/Paramount Pictures

In addition to Neve Campbell, we'll see Isabel May (who you'll recognize from the Yellowstone prequels 1883 and 1923) appear as Neve's onscreen daughter. We could also see Courteney Cox reprise her role as Gale Weathers, via Variety.

However, we won't see onscreen sisters Melissa Barrera or Jenna Ortega in Scream 7. It was announced in November 2023 that Melissa would no longer star in the franchise following her posts on the Isreal-Hamas war, while Jenna's absence has been attributed to Wednesday season 2 scheduling conflicts.

When is Scream 7 coming out?

Philippe Bossé/Paramount Pictures

Scream 7 Release Date

Scream 7 will hit theaters on February 27, 2026. This is an unexpectedly perfect release date because nothing sends a shiver down my spine like winter (and Ghostface of course).

What is Scream 7 going to be about?

Brownie Harris/Paramount Pictures

Scream 7 Plot

We don't have an official plot for Scream 7 quite yet, but I'm feeling confident we'll see Sidney Prescott and (hopefully) Gale Weathers take down another Ghostface. Scream 6 co-writer Guy Busick has the sole writing credit on this new script, as well as Melissa Barrera's 2024 movieAbigail.

Is Scream 7 confirmed?

Brownie Harris/Paramount Pictures

Yes, Scream 7 is officially happening! After Scream 6 (which was released in March 2023) became the highest-grossing movie of the whole franchise, a sequel was announced in August of that year. Kevin Williamson, writer for the original 1996 Scream, will direct.

Who do you hope to see in Scream 7? Check back here — and our Facebook! — for the latest news on your favorite movies.

Designing the perfect home is like self-care. Our spaces are increasingly evolving into our personal sanctuaries as more of us blend our living and working spaces. In 2025, this trend will continue, transforming homes into multifunctional havens: wellness retreats, gathering spots, hubs of tech convenience, and true reflections of personal style. "Creating a personal space and putting your signature on your home to create something unique will be a 2025 trend," says Lily Li, an interior designer from San Francisco's BoConcept. Gone are the generic, cookie cutter designs we see everywhere. 2025 will be all about you and what you love.

Here are top design trends for 2025, according to a recent Home Lifestyles 2025 report from global trend forecaster WGSN, plus our favorite 2025 trends buzzing on the home decor scene!

Keep reading for the top design trends for next year.

Little Luxuries

Lulu & Georgia

Even on a budget, we love to treat ourselves to a little bit of fancy. Think plush throws, high-thread-count bedding, or a curated collection of decadent candles. This trend celebrates everyday indulgences by incorporating small, meaningful upgrades into your home. Statement lighting and mirrors like this Sarah Sherman Samuel Rook Mirror; handmade pottery; even small touches, like gold-rimmed coupe glasses or elegant trays for organizing your essentials, that elevate the ordinary. This is all about feeling sophisticated yet totally cozy.

Individual Expression

Rebel Walls

Individual expression embraces personal style over following trends. More people will look within for their home decor style, celebrating unique, curated spaces filled with meaningful pieces, like vintage finds, DIY projects, and bold color choices. It’s about telling *your* story through design and turning your home into a one-of-a-kind reflection of your personality, passions, and experiences.

Elevated 70s Vibes

Design: A1000XBetter | Photo: Michael P.H. Clifford

Wood drenching is back from the '70s with a more grown-up look. Resurfacing are elevated designs and quality woods with '70s decor like sleek chrome lamps, shag rugs, chenille, and burgundy. Disco lamps optional.

Return Of Post-Modernism

CB2

CB2 Bodene Ivory Resin Coffee Table

Inspired by 1980s post-modernism, AKA "the designer decade," everything from coffee tables to sofas are coming out with unique shapes and unexpected designs. Look for more sculptural pieces that play together with a still-minimal vibe.

Asymmetrical Rugs

Etsy

Etsy Handtufted Irregular Shaped Rug

Hopping on the curve trend are rugs in 2025. Play with your wooly shapes for a more organic look.

Intentional Design

Design: A1000XBetter | Photo: Michael P.H. Clifford

As more people become concerned about climate change, WGSN expects 2025 will bring more services that help us reuse and repair. Things like refillable beauty products, climatarian cuisine (food chosen based on its carbon footprint), and products and services that encourage DIY, resale and repair will be big in 2025. Choosing quality pieces that will stand the test of time and even incorporating vintage pieces for their uniqueness and sustainability factor will be part of this trend.

Warm Neutrals Paired With Deep Blues + Blacks

Ruggable

Ruggable Laine Ivory & Natural Tufted Rug

Warm neutrals like chalk, oat milk and taupe are colors that we'll see more of for versatile home decor. But don't worry, color will be back in a big way too. Organic greens like kelp and emerald, oxblood, clay, sepia, and terracotta will add some richness while soothing pastels like glacier blue and mellow peach, plus flashes of brights like pink and teal, will also grace our 2025 homes.

Color + Pattern Drenching

Le Mieux et Cie

Color drenching will remain a strong trend in 2025, with bold, saturated hues covering entire spaces for a cohesive, dramatic effect. Layering patterns on patterns will also make a statement, as wallpaper and fabric work together to bring texture, character, and a fresh canvas to your space.

Statement Ceilings + Tile

Rebel Walls

Rebel Walls Bruno Sand Wallpaper

The fifth wall is having a moment, with everything from wallpaper and painted stripes to statement chandeliers adding unexpected flair overhead.

Zen Dens

Crate & Barrel

Crate and Barrel Sogno Chaise Lounge

2025 is all about comfort. Think plush, deep sofas, curvy chaises, and furniture with sweater-like textures, creating cozy nooks and rooms you’ll want to sink into with a good book or enjoy chats with your friends and family.

Sensorial Homes

Design: House of Rolison | Photo by Gavin Cater

WGSN forecasts a rise in sensory-driven decor for 2025, so products that soothe our senses. Think ASMR-inspired products like virtual sound baths to enhance focus, mood-boosting products that align with color psychology, robotic scent diffusers, experiential showers and chromatherapy.

Discreet Design

Kam Idris

Tech and aesthetics don't always play well together, but that’s set to change. Expect more discreet tech products and kitchen appliances designed to blend seamlessly with decor. Look for natural materials, soft textiles, minimalist shapes, and inviting colors, along with clever design solutions that conceal tech — like photo frames that double as phone chargers.

"More and more people are choosing to live in smaller spaces or want to use rooms for multiple purposes. Multi-functional pieces will be growing in popularity, including hidden storage options or transformative furniture," says Li.

Biophilic Design

George Kantartzis

Research shows that plants can actually make us happier, so why not design our homes around them? In 2025, expect to see smart gardens with sensor-regulated watering, furniture with built-in planters, and nature-inspired decor. It's all about bringing the outdoors in, and the indoors out.

Outdoor Glamour

Meredith Kleinman Design

Outdoor spaces are becoming true extensions of our homes, with features like al fresco kitchens, plunge pools, outdoor showers (#goals), and cozy outdoor rugs and sofas made with durable, weather-resistant fabrics for fully functional spaces to enjoy most of the year.
