Cheers to Our Sparkling Orange Pom Fizz!

orange champagne cocktail

With pomegranates and citrus in full season, why not use them to concoct a little something special to ring in the New Year? Jessica here with another seasonal sipper that is easy, economical, and utterly delicious. The Orange Pom Fizz!

Pomegranate juice, orange liqueur, and the crowd-pleasing Prosecco come together in this seasonal libation, and to add a little sparkle we rimmed the glasses with sparkling sanding sugar, easily found in the baking aisle of your favorite store.

Ingredients (makes 2)

– 4 ounces pomegranate juice

– 2 ounces orange liqueur, we used Patrón

– 8 ounces Prosecco (for a non-alcoholic beverage use a sparkling water)

– 15 pomegranate seeds

– orange slices

– sanding sugar

Getting those delicious pom seeds out of the fruit may look daunting, but follow these easy steps for flawless seeds every time:

1. Slice pomegranate open and cut in sections.

2. Place in a bowl and cover with cold water

3. With hands in the water, gently release the seeds from the flesh of the fruit.

4. Strain waste and enjoy an antioxidant-filled treat.

Now that you've prepped your pomegranate seeds, it's time to mix up this drink!

Run an orange slice along the rim of your glasses and dip tops into the sparkling sugar. Start with 2 ounces of pomegranate juice in each glass. You can use store-bought juice or make your own by pureeing seeds form one pomegranate and straining so you get about 1/2 a cup of juice.

Add equal amounts of orange liqueur. Stir, then pour prosecco over the mixture. Top with pomegranate seeds and serve immediately with an orange slice for garnish.

Half Baked Harvest

And just like that, I'm in full on holiday mode. Can't help it, this time of year makes me so happy! And with Thanksgiving less than two weeks away it's hard not to be excited. Anyone else feeling the same?

We've been having the coziest weather up here in the mountains. It's inspired me to create recipes that will to warm us up from the inside out. That's honestly one of the cheesiest things I'll say, but it's the truth. I know it's hard to imagine a drink warming you up, especially one that's served over ice, but the spices in this wine spritzer do just that.

Half Baked Harvest

The key to this fun drink is the cranberry jam-syrup. It's actually kind of a mix between a jam and syrup. It uses fresh fruit like a jam would, but it's consistency is much more syrup like. So, it's kind of a cross between the two. Whatever you'd like to call it, it's a delicious mix of sweet honey, fresh tart cranberries, rosemary, and warming cardamom. The honey balances out the tart cranberries, while the rosemary and cardamon add coziness and warmth. Perfect for a Thanksgiving spritzer!

To make the jam, just add all ingredients to a pot. Bring to a boil, boil a minute or two, and done. So simple.

Half Baked Harvest

Once the jam has cooled, add it to a pitcher along with a bottle of your favorite rosé, elderflower liquor (this is my favorite right now), cranberry or pomegranate juice, and a few dashes of orange bitters. Chill the mix, and then just before serving, add fresh citrus slices. I used blood oranges, but regular oranges or grapefruit would be great too. Top it all off with fizzy, spicy, ginger beer (another one of my favorites).

This cocktail is both refreshing and warming, perfect for a chilly November night, or a snow-filled Thanksgiving Day complete with cozy blankets, a roaring fire, and candles galore.

Ingredients for Spiced Cranberry Rosé Spritzers

Half Baked Harvest

  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 2 cups fresh cranberries
  • 2 sprigs fresh rosemary, plus more for serving
  • 1 tablespoon cardamon pods or 1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 1 bottle (750 ml) rosé wine
  • 4 ounces elderflower liquor
  • 1/3 cup cranberry or pomegranate juice
  • 2-3 dashes orange bitter
  • 2 blood oranges or regular oranges, sliced
  • 4-6 (12 ounce) ginger beers, to your taste

Directions for Spiced Cranberry Rosé Spritzers

Half Baked Harvest

  1. To make the cranberry syrup: In a medium pot, bring 1/2 cup water, the honey, cranberries, rosemary, and cardamon to a boil over high heat. Boil 5 minutes or until the cranberries begin to burst, then remove from the heat. Let cool. Remove the rosemary and cardamon pods. If desired, strain out the cranberries.
  2. In a large pitcher, combine the cranberry syrup, rosé, elderflower liquor, cranberry juice, and orange bitters. Chill until ready to serve, up to 2 days.
  3. Add the orange slices and ginger beer just before serving. Garnish each drink with a candied rosemary (recipe below), if desired.

For the candied rosemary garnish:

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Gently run rosemary sprigs under a little water to dampen and place on the prepared baking sheet.
  3. Sprinkle the rosemary with granulated sugar on all sides, making sure the rosemary is thoroughly coated in sugar.
  4. Allow to dry on the baking sheet for 1 hour. The rosemary can be made 1 day in advance and stored at room temperature.

Most press-on nail kits include a standard nail file/buffer and nail glue, but I've recently discovered something that makes sure nails don't budge: brush-on nail glue. It's easier to make sure the glue doesn't spill over the sides of the nails when you press down on them and it seems like they're made of the strongest ingredients that makes your temporary manicure last longer!

It's the most wonderful time of the year: awards show season! We're getting closer to seeing the Oscars, the Grammys, and the Golden Globes celebrate the best movies, music, and TV shows of 2024, and we finally know who's up for the Golden Globes. The program will air on CBS and Paramount+ January 5 at 8 pm EST.

Even though this awards show is usually an indicator of what the Oscar nominations will look like, my group chats aren't so sure — some of these nominations (and snubs) are such wild cards!

Keep reading to see all the 2025 Golden Globe nominations — and snubs.

The Most Shocking Snubs & Surprises Of The 2025 Golden Globes Nominations

Netflix

To no one's surprise, The Bear led amongst its competition with 5 nominations, followed closely by four nominations for both Shōgun and Only Murders in the Building. And Selena Gomez's Emilia Pérez got 10 nominations!

Some notable snubs of this year's Golden Globes include leaving Wicked's Jon M. Chu and Dune 2's Denis Villeneuve out of the director category (which baffles me even more after Greta Gerwig's Barbie snub at the Oscars), Sing Sing in the screenplay category, and Saoirse Ronan in the acting categories even though the Oscar-nominated actress was in both The Outrun and Blitz!

As far as surprises go, September 5 is nominated for Best Picture, despite the fact it hasn't been released yet. And, okay I know Wicked already announced they'd be submitting Cynthia Erivo for a lead actress and Ariana Grande for supporting, but my group chats STILL can't believe it! Also Zendaya being nominated in lead actress in a comedy/musical for Challengers...since when is Challengers a comedy?!

I've always loved a pop of blue, red, or yellow in an otherwise neutral space. And while I admire anyone who can masterfully combine all three, blue has always been my clear favorite. Now, IKEA has officially crowned 'Electric Blue' as their 2025 Color of the Year. Inspired by the seas and skies, Electric Blue is a hue that IKEA describes as “contemplative and calm, yet versatile enough for modern and traditional spaces.”

Whether you’re looking to refresh a bedroom, energize a living room, or add a cool pop to your kitchen, this happy, bold shade delivers in the form of wall art, plush throws, or statement-making furniture. The best part? It plays well with others. Pair it with sunny yellows, vibrant oranges, soft lavenders, or even a daring hot pink. Will you be embracing this blue wave in 2025? From rugs and pillows to accessories and more, here are our top picks to embrace the new year with a splash of blue.
