10 "Outdated" Fashion Trends For 2025 That Are Totally Cringe (But You're Probably Still Wearing)

outdated fashion trends 2025

Fashion trends come and go, but not all of them are missed. Just like outdated shoes or makeup, there are some things we'd rather leave in our confused or wild party days. From thinking it was cute to wear teeny vests to not caring if our boobs spilled out of scarf tops, we cringe every time we think of these 10 nostalgic things we used to wear.

We're also sure you happily wore one or few of them at some point. Like us, it's possibly you have a relic from the past stuffed in the deepest part of your closet.

All we can say is that we sincerely hope you don't plan to wear any of these cringey fashion trends next year!

Here are the 10 outdated fashion trends you definitely need to retire for 2025!

1. Cropped Vests

Brandon Ricketts

You didn't have to look far if you wanted to spot a celeb wearing a variation of a vest. From under boob designs to cropped versions, they used to dominate fashion. We're willing to bet you even wore the latter in middle or high school. If think we've been sneaking to look at your closet, we haven't nor are we psychic.

We know you had at least one cropped vest because we did too. Some of us had a punk rock era while others thought we were adopted the business casual style that seemed appropriate for our younger selves. Needless to say, this trend won't cut it in 2025.

2. Ponchos

Ayoub Moukhliss

If you didn't own a poncho when you were younger, what were you doing? It was one of the 'it girl' trends that dominated whether you were deemed stylish or not, and guess who couldn't get enough of wearing it? Us...and maybe you too!

Thankfully, we've outgrown our desire to be seen in something that wouldn't get us in trouble at church because we realize it's actually not flattering. Besides, the goal is to let your outfit shine without hiding it under a shapeless garment.

3. Scarf Tops

David Gari

Unless you're headed to a festival or vacationing somewhere where wearing minimal clothing isn't given a side eye, scarf tops are to be left in the past. We actually don't have the words to describe just how much we'd prefer for you to wear everything BUT this trend. Since we're currently glitching, we'll say that we'd prefer to see you wear a poncho in 2025 before you try to revive this.

4. Shorter Leather Jackets

Anna Shvets

This is more of our more controversial takes, but we'll say it anyway: shorter leather jackets don't belong in your closest in 2025. They were great when we were in college, but now? It just seems like they're reserved for 20-year-olds who are still trying to figure out who and what they want to be in life. An oversized, vintage-esque option always looks best!

5. Puffy Faux Fur Coats

Following NYC

Sigh, It seems like everyone wanted their hands on a faux fur coat, but we think this is one of the most outdated fashion trends. It looks like it belongs to the street style during 2016-2018's fashion weeks. While we're add it, please don't pair it with anything camo if you decide this is one thing you're not ready to give up yet.

6. Low Rise Jeans & Skirts

Mizuno K

All we can think about when we see super low rise jeans or skirts are our middle school days. Unfortunately, we saw too many pairs of thongs being exposed because of this style and it scarred us! Unlike other styles we've mentioned, we're adamant that you shouldn't pass 'go' for the sake of reviving low rise anything. Gen Z may say otherwise, but let's just let these lie where they belong: the 2000s.

7. White Sunglasses

Following NYC

Sunglasses are a cute way to spice up your outfit when you're looking for an accessory that doesn't feel distracting. BUT, it's possible to still get that wrong if you're wearing sunglasses that have glaring frames. They're known for making a statement, but not in a good way. Let's leave the white sunnies behind, please!

8. Page Boy Hats

Following NYC

We're sure you can pull of a great page boy hat, but it's the quickest way for most stylish people to wonder if you're trying to hold on to a time where they made everyone look great.

Sigh...Okay, we're just not a fan of this trend, and find that it may unintentionally age you.

9. Overdone Ruffles

cottonbro studio

Unless you're trying to show Lord Farquaad you would make an excellent wife, leave the overdone ruffles alone! They're not going to make anyone look good even if you've pulled them off in the past. Honestly, the above outfit would be really cute if it weren't for the layered ruffles around the neck so let this be a lesson to keep them in the past.

10. Tiny Denim Shorts

Nicolas Postiglioni

"Who wears short shorts?" Well, we used to before we realized that they're not the most stylish option. They're great for summer vacation or days where you want to give your legs breathing room, but we don't think they should be a part of your everyday uniform anymore. There's other denim styles you can rely on like balloon jeans, dresses, or even longline shorts!

In your weekly horoscope, the stars are serving up a potent blend of "me" and "we" with a Full Moon in Libra on Saturday. Think of it as a cosmic Marie Kondo moment – what relationships (or ways of being in them) spark joy...and what needs to go? Plus, fiery Aries is still kicking, but get this: dreamy Neptune is sliding into its territory for a long stay. Buckle up — things are about to get interesting. Your weekly horoscope intel starts right here!

Ksenia Chernaya

The Full Moon in Libra arrives on Saturday, April 12, offering a powerful opportunity to balance the energies of Libra and Aries — the harmony between "we" and "me."To truly support and serve others, we must first be grounded in our own strength and well-being. Ask yourself: are you giving too much of yourself in the name of keeping the peace? This Full Moon illuminates what no longer serves you, guiding you to release it and restore your inner balance.

The archetype of Aries continues to resonate through the collective and will be with us for years to come. As we approach the final days of the Sun in Aries, let’s use this time to deepen our connection to its potent energy and harness it for the greater good.

Aries is a fire sign. It is the bold, courageous warrior of the zodiac — a symbol of new beginnings and willful action. It invites us to assert ourselves, live with authenticity, and take initiative. At its highest, Aries is altruistic and advocates for the vulnerable. Yet, its intensity can spill into aggression or impulsiveness. When guided by wisdom and awareness, this fiery energy becomes a powerful force for progress. But without grounding, it can be reckless and disruptive.

Neptune’s recent move into Aries (March 30, 2025) marks a significant generational shift that will unfold through 2039. Neptune brings dreaminess, spirituality, and idealism — hallmarks of Pisces. As I’ve written before, let’s hope we witness the rise of the peaceful (Pisces) warrior (Aries) and that global leaders channel this blend into compassionate, proactive change.

Leeloo The First

On April 15, Mercury enters Aries, urging us to speak up and speak out. This transit energizes our minds and sharpens our tongues — encouraging bold ideas and courageous dialogue. Use it to initiate action or finally speak truths long held back. Just remember: words have power. Aim for clarity, not conflict.

Mars, Aries’ ruling planet, charges into Leo on April 17, igniting double firepower. This combination emboldens us to act from the heart, pursue dreams, and live in alignment with our true selves. But with two fiery signs in play, the energy can be combustible. Channel it wisely, and ensure your passion is tempered with care for others.

Then on April 19, the Sun moves into earthy, grounded Taurus. This is the perfect time to commit — or recommit — to routines that promote stability and presence. Taurus offers steady, practical energy that supports us in building something sustainable and meaningful.

The only thing keeping me from being upset about A Court of Thorns and Roses TV show being canceled is how well Hulu handled it's newest thriller, Paradise. Created by screenwriter Dan Fogelman (This Is Us) and starring Sterling K. Brown, it's a murder mystery with dystopian undertones that explores what could happen if states become uninhabitable.

Besides feeling relevant to our current timeline, Paradise has a soundtrack that rivals Strangers Things and leaves viewers wanting more. Fortunately, Hulu got the memo and renewed it for season 2 — thank goodness!

Here's everything to know about Paradise season 2!

Who's a part of the cast for Paradise season 2?

Disney/Cristian Lopez

Sterling K. Brown is already slated to return as Agent Xavier Collins (of course), but there's more new cast members in town! Deadline reports Shailene Woodley (Divergent, The Fault in Our Stars, and Big Little Lies) will be starring in Paradise season 2. According to the outlet, there's a chance she'll be one of the survivors that exist outside of Paradise (the bunker's community name) and will meet Agent Xavier Collins.

Additionally, Deadlinealso shared Michael McGrady (Ray Donovan), Thomas Doherty (Tell Me Lies) and Timothy Omundson (Supernatural) will make regular appearances throughout the show. The outlet is confident they're going to be in a gang that'll have a prominent affect on Paradise season 2's storyline (via Deadline).

I can't wait to see everyone in action!

Has Paradise season 2 began filming?

I'm pinching myself because Paradise season 2 has started filming! Dan Fogelman shared the amazing news on his Instagram and his comments are buzzing with excitement! "We’re baaaaaaaack. #Paradise#S2," he wrote which means we could see Sterling K. Brown and Julianne Nichols on our screens sooner than anticipated.

This comes after an update Fogelman shared with a hopeful fan on X. In response to a fear viewers would have to wait a long time to see more action from our new favorite characters, Fogelman put all fears aside. "we start shooting in just a few weeks. It won’t be 2 years I promise! #Paradise," he said.

When does Paradise season 2 premiere?

Disney/Brian Roedel

Filming just started for Paradise season 2, so a premiere date for it hasn't been shared yet. But at the rate Fogelman's going, we could possibly see the thriller series on Hulu towards the end of the year or at the beginning of 2026!

For now, fans can rewatch Season 1 on Hulu or when it appears on ABC April 7 at 10:00 p.m. (via The Hollywood Reporter).

What is Paradise about?

Disney/Brian Roedel

Paradise begins in an idyllic community where homes are picturesque, streets are clean, and everyone lives in perfect harmony. However, it doesn't take long for the peace to be disturbed when the President is discovered murdered by his trusted Secret Service agent Xavier Collins.

Before long, he begins questioning the world he and his children live in while also searching for clues about his missing wife.

Who was in the Paradise season 1 cast?

Disney/Brian Roedel

Paradise Season 1 had a stacked cast! Besides Sterling K. Brown, there's other familiar faces who helped with the show's equilibrium.

  • Sterling K. Brown as Xavier Collins
  • James Marsden as President Cal Bradford
  • Julianne Nicholson as "Sinatra"
  • Krys Marshall as Robinson
  • Sarah Shahi as Dr. Gabriela Torabi
  • Jon Beavers as Billy Pace
  • Nicole Brydon Bloom as Jane Driscoll
  • Aliyah Mastin as Presley Collins
  • Percy Daggs IV as James Collins
  • Charlie Evans as Jeremy Bradford
  • Richard Robichaux as Carl

What's happened in Paradise so far?

Disney/Brian Roedel

Wow, where do I begin?!

After it was revealed that the community he and everyone else lives in has been artificially created due to a disaster, the brief moments of unease Collins shows begins making sense. It's clear he and President Cal ended on bad terms before his death, but it doesn't seem like he was responsible for murdering the man he was sworn to protect.

What's odd is that Sinatra, the mastermind behind the beautiful community they live in, has been playing puppet master. She ordered the deaths of scientists sent to the surface to test the air quality AND she made sure Agent Billy was blindsided by his love interest's manipulation. Upsettingly, his murderer is none other than seemingly docile and clueless Agent Jane.

Viewers were also introduced to President Cal's father and were able to see how much he never wanted to be the face of the country. Though his father appears to have dementia, it's clear he feels guilty about something and may have seen who killed his son.

When did the season finale of Paradise season air?

Disney/Brian Roedel

Paradise left off on several cliffhangers on Hulu March 4!

How many seasons of Paradise will there be?

Disney/Brian Roedel

Dan Fogelman already knows what he wants to do with Paradise! He said, "I have a plan for three seasons of the show. Without giving away too much, each season of the show is a slightly different show, within the same show with the same characters," (via The Hollywood Reporter).

While we're all sad about The White Lotus season 3 coming to a close following the shocking finale, there is some good news: the show was already renewed for a fourth season! That means fans of the drama and debauchery will definitely be getting another fix soon. But where will our next dose be set?

All three iterations of The White Lotusthus far have been set in tropical destinations, with filming at The Four Seasons. According to executive producer David Bernad, the series continues to use this specific luxury resort chain since they were "the one hotel that let us shoot there."

Let's do a quick recap: season 1 was set in Hawaii, season 2 was in Italy, and season 3 was, of course, Thailand. These locales aren't chosen at random, either, but are rather picked to match each season's theme.

"For example, Koh Samui was not only chosen for its visually stunning environment overlooking the Gulf of Thailand but also for its thematic alignment with the season's exploration of Eastern spirituality and existential themes," detailed the chief commercial officer of Four Seasons Hotels, Marc Speichert.

However, fans have noticed how creator Mike White hasn't repeated any continents. Plus, each of the past filming locales was tropical, which may suggest the next season will go against the grain in a chillier region. With all this in mind, here are the locations rumored to be top contenders for The White Lotus season 4.

Here are the top locations we think The White Lotusseason 4 could take place!

1. Mexico or Egypt

Taryn Elliott

While these two destinations are thousands of miles apart, we're grouping them together for one main reason: an insider spoke to Parade and claimed the show's producers were scouting both spots.

"Right now, it's looking like the next season of The White Lotus will be shot in Egypt or Mexico. They want to pick somewhere they haven't shot yet, so a new continent. They want to go somewhere completely new since this season is in Asia, which is why they're between the two. The decision should be made soon," the insider alleged.

This would make sense, given that both Mexico City and Punta Mita have The Four Seasons.

2. Australia

Mudassir Ali

Another possible option is Australia. In fact, Mike White admitted it would be his "dream" to hit every single continent with the show.

"We kind of have to come to Australia if we keep going. It would be so fun. Obviously, there's a huge wealth of talent here, and the beauty is inarguable, so it feels like it checks all the boxes," he shared. (via Yahoo! News)

3. Norway

Pixabay

Lastly, I'm sure that a colder destination, like Norway, would help infuse brand-new antics into The White Lotus. Mike White supposedly scouted locations in the country, too, and reportedly spoke to the Norwegian Film Institute about a grant to film on location.

Unfortunately, though, executive producer David Bernad doesn't think it's actually in the cards, pointing out how Mike White isn't a fan of the cold.

During an appearance on The Bill Simmons Podcast, he continued, "[Mike] is a California guy. He is not built for the cold. Never say never, but I would be surprised."

If The White Lotus remains so successful, it seems inevitable that the show will eventually have to venture to a non-tropical locale. But, for now, there are still plenty of filming location options, and we'll just have to stay tuned regarding where the season 4 batch of entitled travelers goes next.
