15 Pretty Pastel Hairstyles to Try This Summer

You know how much we love color — we practically dream in Pantone! But this pastel hair trend has got even us raising our brows. Don’t get us wrong, it’s as dreamy as beauty risks get, but any wide-eyed way you look at it, it’s a bold, bold move. Even so, it’s been seeping into our Pinterest feeds at a rapid rate, especially since it’s a look that some of our favorite A-listers like the always technicolor Katy Perry and style maven Nicole Richie totally embrace. Although all of us at Brit + Co. couldn’t imagine ourselves with teal streaks or cotton candy bangs, these hairstyles are SO fun to look at! So gawk your hearts out at these 15 pretty pastel hairstyles. But be warned: They’re so fantastically perfect that they really might inspire you to streak some color into your ‘do this summer.

1. Pink to Orange Ombre: Katy Perry blends the pastel trend with the ombre look and convinces us that it will become a classic look that is forever in style. Her light pink to starburst orange hair has a subtle warmth to it that is casual enough to wear without making too much of a statement. (via A Pirates Revealing Taste)

2. A Tinge of Pink: P!nk is perfect in pink! Her roots are tinted lightly but still have lots of chunky blonde streaks to create a more subtle look. The undertone compliments her skin tone so well that she somehow manages to make this look natural on her. (via Popsugar)

3. Hues of Lavender: Nicole Richie jumped on the pastel trend train pretty early and has since been rocking various shades of cool lavender. She has the highlights, base and lowlights down to science, giving her dimensions that make the color look grown up-appropriate as opposed to teeny bopper punk-rock dye that came from a box. (via Paper Magazine)

4. Iced Beige Blonde: This beige/blonde/gray look is a bit more debatable in terms of being able to pull off easily. This model looks stunning, but is this a wearable look for the average gal? It comes down to your personality and if you can own it proudly. Definitely requires makeup and a spunky confidence to rock this one! (via Wonder Forest)

5. Purple Blonde: First off, this gal’s punchy eye makeup is the perfect accent to her stunning locks. Her hair appears to be balayaged with purple + platinum blonde, creating a look full of dimension that reflects light beautifully. (via Sisters Revolution)

6. Aqua Teal: Being able to pull of any hair color with green undertones usually requires a flawless complexion and the right skin tone. This woman’s porcelain skin is the perfect fit. She looks gorgeous with her teal base and platinum highlights. (via Fashion Bitch)

7. Coral: Sort of a modern take on the ever stunning Gwen Stefani’s pink fringed bob, this lob (long bob) has a more muted coral hue to it that many could pull off — really! (via Hey Mishka)

8. Subtle Pink Streaks: For the girl who wants to dabble with color but not overcommit, go for a look like Rachel McAdams’ streaks of pink just framing her face. (via As You Wish)

9. Cotton Candy Pink N’ Blue : On the other end of the spectrum, this is a full on commitment! This half cotton-candy pink, half purply-blue ‘do is really stunning in a photograph… but likely a little challenging to wear daily for most. (via Beauty High)

10. Dipped in Blues: The trick to this AH-MAZING dipped hair is a seamless transition from light teal to royal blue ends. If this dye job is pulled off correctly, it’s a serious show stopper! (via Antonina Dolanix)

11. Chalk it Up : Ok, so you are feeling super inspired at this point but still not convinced that you’re willing to go all the way, huh? Here’s your chance to bust out some hair chalk and give this trend a test run! Click through to get our hair chalk 101 tutorial! (via Brit + Co)

12. Feathered in Hair Chalk: So now you’re a hair chalk pro, huh? Prove it with this look as your extreme inspiration: Hair chalk in pretty-messy braids. Obsessed! (via Little Tutu Princess)

13. Partly Pastel: Personally, I am a huge fan of this approach, and both blonds or brunettes could pull it off. Just a few streaks of pastels randomly throughout your hair makes for a playful tease of color. (via The Girl in The Penthouse)

14. Pastel Pigment: Okay, so this is technically hair… eyebrow hair! ;) After stumbling across this, it’s just too good to NOT add to the mix! Perhaps an inspiration for a Halloween look this year? (Yes, here at Brit + Co. we’re already ALL over what will go down for our favorite holiday of the year!). (via Blushing Noir)

15. Multicolored Ombre: Here’s another all-over color, but somehow, it has a simpler feel to it since her roots are left more natural. What a fun way to go big, but not too big! (via Vogue)

1. Deep Side Parts

Coming in at #1 on our "outdated" list are deep side parts. They used to something we admired on everyone from Amy Winehouse to Katy Perry, but now they remind us of the questionable choices we made in our early 20s.

cottonbro studio

2. Space Buns

Princess Leia may look great wearing her space buns in the Star Wars franchise, but we think you shouldn't bring them into 2025. The last time someone on our team wore them was between 2018 or 2019, so that should say a lot.

We don't say this often, but let's wear hairstyles that don't revert us back to our grade school days.

Brit + Co

3. Side Braid

Unless you're trying to relive your childhood days or want to mimic Blake Lively's character in It Ends With Us, this outdated hairstyle shouldn't be on your list of favorite looks to wear. There's other braided styles you can wear that are way more stylish anyway!

Brit + Co

4. Super Visible Highlights

Whether you're getting microlinks or a sew-in, wearing super visible highlights in 2025 is truly outdated. It's one thing to switch up your style, but it's another to let the world know how much you love a good contrast by letting your hair scream it from the mountaintops.

Keep your color of choice seamless this year if you decide to get a color service.

5. '60s Up-Do

There's a time and place for everything, including updos that resemble what was popular during the '60s. If you must wear this style, go for a more modern take that doesn't feel as stiff. You might want to update your bangs too.

Brit + Co

6. Wand Curls

When's the last time you heard someone mention this once popular style? Chances are you haven't because it's a reminder of how long it took to achieve overly done curls. Depending on the size you wanted, you could spend anywhere from 45 minutes to over an hour on this style. Oh, and it was mandatory to wear the accompanying glove that came with the 'wand' or else you risked burning your fingers!

No thank you!

7. Barbie Bleach

Remember when it was a cardinal sin to show up to the beach without "effortlessly wavy" hair? It seems more people are moving away from that and embracing 'messy' buns and the beauty of textured hair. It's one thing if you hair naturally looks like this, but it's another if you try to make your hair conform to this style just because it's "on trend."

Newsflash: you don't have to force your hair to do something it doesn't want to! (And not everyone has to look like Serena van der Woodsen!)

8. Millennial Pouf

Oof, how can we forget the millennial pouf? This was one of our go-to hairstyles that we swore we'd always wear. Little did we know how much we'd avoid it once we graduated from college.

It's not the most annoying style, but we're throwing this one in the "outdated" bag so we can't even pretend we're going to start wearing it again.

Want to know what else is "outdated?" Revisit the nail trends you shouldn't be wearing in 2025!

This shape makes everyone looks amazing and is probably one of the most versatile gray bobs that can inspire your next trip to the salon. To maintain it, you'll want to protect your hair with a scarf at night. During the day, make sure you use a heat protectant before curling it with one of your flat irons.

This blunt hairstyle looks SO good with glasses, too! Pair it with a statement lipstick, and you're really making some stylish moves!

A Gray Lob

Bobs can be as short or long as you want as evidenced by this longer 'lob.' This is for the person who doesn't want to have hair like Rapunzel, but still wants to maintain some of their length. If you ever want to go for a shorter look with this style, all you have to do is pin curl the ends of your hair.

The 2025 Oscars were full of incredible red carpet outfits and fun moments (like Ariana Grande & Cynthia Erivo's Wicked opening medley!!), but before the iconic awards show aired, our favorite starts partied the night away...including Zoë Kravitz and Noah Centineo. This duo has been raising some eyebrows over the last few weeks and this marks the second party they've been spotted leaving together.

Here's what we know about those Zoë Kravitz and Noah Centineo dating rumors.

Zoë Kravitz and Noah Centineo partied the night away in Hollywood.

'Twas the night before the Oscars (or the morning of the Oscars depending on how you look at it), and Zoë Kravitz and Noah Centineo were seen leaving a pre-Oscars party together. DeuxMoi sources claim they hopped into a car around 2:20 in the morning on March 2.

While these two haven't taken their relationship official, leaving the same party together definitely has the internet talking — especially since this isn't the first time they've been spotted together recently! Zoë and Noah were also spotted leaving Danielle Haim's birthday party in New York City on February 15.

The parties come four months after Zoë Kravitz and ex-fiancé Channing Tatum called off their wedding. "The split is amicable," one source told People. "They realized they're at different stages in life."

“Ultimately once [Blink Twice] ended, they realized they were on different pages with what they wanted. It fizzled fast after their press tour wrapped," added an Us Weeklysource.

But Zoë has nothing but good things to say about Channing, telling Elle (after the premiere of their movie Blink Twice) that "I love this thing that we made together, and I care for him very much."

"He has so much more coming, and I think he's in a place as an actor where he's feeling really confident and people are seeing different sides of him," she adds, saying she's "excited for people to keep witnessing that."

Certain vintage and retro baby names have definitely made a comeback in modern times. However, some older monikers have arguably managed to stick around a bit too long.

While these names were very popular at one point, they now sound more old-fashioned than fresh and probably won't work as well on the playground anymore.

So, in our humble opinion, here are eight vintage baby names that may need to be retired once and for all.

Scroll to find out which vintage baby names we need to let go of in 2025!

1. Gertrude

Gertrude is a classic name that's German in origin and means "strength of a pear."

Even though the nickname "Gertie" has a playful, vintage charm (and perhaps even reminds us of 5-year-old Drew Barrymore in "E.T."), it hasn't been enough to breathe new life into the full name, which has fallen out of favor in recent decades.

2. Ambrose

Helena Lopes

With Latin origins, Ambrose is a distinguished name that means "immortal." Yet despite it feeling both gentle and strong, many modern parents have seemingly shied away from it.

In 2023, Ambrose ranked at number 789 in U.S. baby name popularity, so its retirement may be on the horizon.

3. Ethel

Foden Nguyen

Ethel, which is English in origin, means "noble maiden" and was once widely popular, especially during the early 20th century.

At the height of its fame, Ethel Barrymore was a Broadway icon, and the name was a staple in many households. It even held a top 10 spot for 16 years and remained in the top 100 until 1939.

Nonetheless, Ethel has a vintage vibe that can sound too old and may be better suited for earlier generations.

4. Bertha

Erland Efendi

Meaning "bright" and "glorious," Bertha is a German name that was once viewed as strong, feminine, and elegant. It reached its height during the late 19th century, but today, it seems a bit outdated.

Ranked at number 8,481 in U.S. birth name popularity, it's clear that Bertha has lost much of its appeal.

5. Claude

Claude is a name of French Origin and has ancient Latin roots that mean "lame." While the literal translation may not be the most flattering, the name has a rich history, having been carried by numerous notable figures.

Even so, Claude has struggled to make a significant comeback. It's ranked at number 6,685 in U.S. births, meaning it's a rare choice for today's little ones.

6. Myrtle

Neide Souto

Derived from Myrtus, an evergreen shrub known for its medicinal properties used to treat respiratory ailments and skin inflammation, Myrtle is a Greek name that was first used for girls in the 1850s.

However, with its current ranking of 24,192 in U.S. births, Myrtle has definitely fallen into obscurity.

7. Chester

br prch

With English and Latin roots, Chester means "fortress," "camp," or "camp of soldiers." It was once favored for its association with strength and protection and is sometimes used as a nickname for "Rochester."

Regardless, Chester currently ranks at number 3,715 in U.S. births, showing parents are passing up this classic choice.

8. Edna

Nguyễn Quốc Thái

Finally, Edna is a name with Hebrew origins that means "rejuvenation" and "delight." With its biblical roots in the apocryphal Book of Tobit, the name carries a sense of spiritual renewal and grace.

Despite its rich meaning, Edna has become less popular in recent years, coming in at number 3,542 among U.S. births.
