Can’t Decide Between Pie or Cake? Here is How to Make a Piecaken!

Here at B+C, we’re all about the latest trends — fashion, tech and home decor, but most importantly, *food.* With the holidays a month away, we decided to kick off the season with the most decadent dessert that has ever been created. Drum roll please — the Piecaken! The piecaken (which is the dessert you eat after your Turducken) is made up of three layers of cake that each have their own pie baked inside. Crazy, right!? Don’t let the amount of sweetness in this dessert fool you; it is actually extremely easy to make. Follow along below to learn how to wow your guests this holiday season with this Piecaken recipe.

Ingredients:

Instructions:

1 chocolate cake mix
2 vanilla cake mixes
1 apple pie
1 pecan pie
1 pumpkin pie
9 eggs
3 3/4 cup water
1 cup vegetable oil

1. Prepare each cake mix separately by following the directions on the back of the box.

2. Spray your cake pan with non-stick spray and then pour 1/3 of the cake mix in the bottom of the pan. Spread the cake mix evenly in the pan.

3. Place the pie face down in the pan and then pour the remaining cake mix around the sides of the pie.

4. Bake in an oven for 60 minutes at 325 degrees Fahrenheit.

5. Stack the cakes on top of each other and cover in icing. Pour caramel sauce over the icing and then serve!

This cake is actually one of the easiest desserts I’ve prepared for the holidays. Follow the directions on the back of the cake mix, spray the pan with non-stick spray, add a light layer of cake batter to the bottom of the pan and then place the pie face down. Pour the rest of the batter around the edges of the pie and then bake for 60 minutes in an oven at 325 degrees Fahrenheit.

Here it is again, because that pie to the face of the cake pan is just epic.

A Piecaken is made up of three layers — vanilla cake with apple pie, chocolate cake with pecan pie and vanilla cake with pumpkin pie. Of course, you can mix and match cake and pie flavors as you choose ;)

Grab your cake stand and stack those cake-pies right on top of each other.

Use store-bought icing to dirty ice the cake.

Top it off with a layer of drippy caramel.

"XO, Kitty" Season 2 Welcomes You Back Into The Covey Family

To All The Boys will always be a comfort movie, and when Netflix announced we were getting a spinoff about our favorite little sister Kitty Song Covey (who's now a teenage matchmaker), I was over the moon! Well, fans of XO, Kitty are in for a treat because season 2 drops on January 16 — and it's one of our most-anticipated January TV shows. Not only are we reuniting with one of our favorite Coveys, but another cast member from the movie cast is making an appearance too!

What is XO Kitty season 2 about?

Kitty's back for her second semester at KISS, and she's hoping to scale things way back. What can we say? She's in her casual dating era! That is, until a letter from her mom's past sends her on a whole new journey. "There are so many new people now,” Anna Cathcart told Tudum. “To see her world expand is a huge, huge difference and will be a really fun thing to follow.”

It sounds like XO Kitty season 2 will be a continuation of that coming of age!

Upgrade Your Thanksgiving With A Crescent-Roll Cornucopia

This edible crescent-roll cornucopia is our way of making a normal cheese boardmore festive — and definitely more fun — during the holiday season. Our go-to this time of year is a massive cheese plate that can stand alone and be the main attraction, or the starter for a larger meal. Press on for the surprisingly easy steps to braid a breaded cornucopia.

The easiest and most delicious Thanksgiving crescent roll cornucopia recipe.

Materials + Tools:

1 roll of tin foil
2 packages of crescent rolls
1 egg (for egg wash before cornucopia goes into the oven), optional

Instructions:

Start by sculpting tin foil into the shape of a cornucopia (it looks like a cone with an upturned tail). Pro tip: Lightly pack tin foil so it's easier to remove later from your baked cornucopia. Crescent rolls should be buttery enough that this shouldn't be difficult.

Your tin foil mold should look a little something like this.

Pop open the crescent rolls and cut the triangles into strips. Pinch together the ends of strips to make strips longer.

Braid crescent roll strips. You can make these as fancy as you want. Not a braiding pro? Skip this step and leave those strips alone.

Wrap tin foil cornucopia with braids/strips. Make sure you cover all the tin foil. Leave a little wiggle room at the opening of the cornucopia, so that when you’re done baking you can pull some of that tin foil out.

Use any extra dough to cover the bottom of your cornucopia. Pinch the sides and anchor those braids/strips in.

Brush on egg wash before placing your cornucopia in the oven. Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 20 minutes. Take out of oven and cover spots of cornucopia that are already golden brown with extra tin foil. Bake for another 20 minutes at 250 degrees Fahrenheit.

Let it cool down until it’s easy to handle. Remove tin foil.

Place cornucopia in corner of your cheese plate. Arrange cheese on your serving tray.

Add crackers — we like to have two or three options.

Don’t forget to fill up your cornucopia. It's called "the horn of plenty" for a reason. Fill with fresh fruit like grapes, apples, and pears.

Add nuts like walnuts and pistachios to fill in any empty spaces. Garnish with fresh herbs like rosemary and sage to finish it off.

In the midst of award show season, everything points to Oscar Sunday. The show, which celebrates achievement in film, is my most-important night of the year and my friends and I go all out. Themed snacks, ballots, and very loud celebrations when our favorite stars and movies win. But before the big day comes, we need to watch all the movies up for awards!
